Good for people going after April 28th maybe. A bummer for those of us going between the 17th and 27th. Wonder why Disney would exclude those 10 days??? :sad2: Weird. I hope the code covers April 17 and on. :flower:
Thinking positive thoughts.

There are plenty of us waiting for April codes. Our trip is April 22-30.

I think I've already posted this in another thread, but I thought it might make some people a little less worried...sure last year code came out Mar 9th for April - July, but two years ago the AP codes came out APR 20 for dates starting APR 28!!! I hope we aren't waiting that long, but it does give a spark of hope!
Easter was April 20 in 2003. That would mean that peak season ran until 4/27/03. Which probably explains why that particular AP code came out so much later. That year, unlike this year, there were no codes at all for the spring break period. I'm still hoping for an AP discount but I made sure that I at least got a AAA discount just in case.

Perhaps we'll see something after Easter...that's the end of March which is what they are saying now.

Just a theory, alot of schools are off for Spring Break from 4/23-4/30 in the Northeast (especially NY). The resorts are getting pretty full for that week. Disney doesn't really need to offer a discount to intice people to stay during that time period.
I'm also hoping for AP codes for 4/30-5/2 for after our cruise and for June for Star Wars Weekends.
After Sept 2003, I learned not to rely on AP codes anymore. We always had a code before that trip so it was a shock when they didn't come out. Now I just look at them as a bonus.
Here's hoping codes come soon! :goodvibes

I didn't call today, but the days I have called, I got right through. As soon as they picked up fast, I knew the answer was "nothing beyond 4/16" otherwise the wait would be longer :(

Just an FYI, I live on Long Island and my kids are not off that week. They only have the Monday off the week of Passover. Our week off is the week leading up to Easter Sunday with the next Monday going back. So you guys won't have to worry about an influx of Levittownies clogging up the parks in April! LOL

However, there will be a ton of us from NYC the last week of April. :cool1:
Airfare out of JFK and LGA is crazy for April 22,23. I lucked up on a $64.00 fare for April 22 (connecting flight). However, I haven't booked our return flight yet. So far fares are $121(connecting) per per to $301.00 (direct) per person. :earseek:

I thought most of the schools on LI are off that week. (except for the Catholic schools, of course) Bayport-BluePoint has the opposite....1 day off for Easter and a week for Passover. I think all the surrounding schools are doing the same. BTW, most of the people on the cruise meet post for that week are also from LI and NJ. Should be interesting :)

Nope Levittown and Island Trees, at least, are week before Easter BUT NYC schools have a week off in April. My next door neighbor works as a Para in a NYC school and her kids own kids are off in March when SHE is still working and then in April it's reversed, she's off & they're not! Easter and passover being in different months this year have made things wacky!!

I just hung up with Disney as my deposit was due on my villa and she was at least able to give me the AAA discount which did pay for the tax at least. I did ask her once again about the Florida resident discount or AP discount extending past 4/16 and the CM told me that there are so signs of any coming out but to just keep checking back. I asked how busy they were and she said they're slammed with calls and bookings are going very, very well. I asked her opinion on the discounts and she said the grumblings that she's hearing in the office is that they may not come out and that they're all bracing for dealing with a very disappointed and possibly angry base of clients. I put my deposit down for April 29th but may cancel it as we get closer as I just don't know if I really want to spend the money for 2 nights. Sometimes the idea of sitting on the beach at the Ritz Carlton for the same amount of money with a cocktail in my hand sounds more appealing!

Actually, I would be disappointed, but not surprised if we don't get a FL resident code for spring/early summer. If there aren't rooms open, not much they can do.

Ok. It's time for me to spout off. I have read this thread every day and sometimes more than once a day for the AP codes. We are going in June. Some time on cash and some time on our DVC points. We, as a group are a small, tiny portion of Disney's business. Just give us the darn discounts!!!!!! We are still going to spend that discount at Disney in other ways. A majority and me a huge majority no nothing about discounts of any kind and pay full rack rate. $200, $300, $400 and more dollars a night. What is the big deal about our, at best, 5% of the total Disney booking population. Price us out of the market and evidently we will seek other vacation spots that are begging for us to come there.
Thank you for listening to my rant! I can now go on with my day and continue to hope for all of us in this group.

The big deal is that if they are booking the rooms at rack rate, there won't be rooms available for discount offers.

I agree. I think those who think that Disney is smart in a business sense for not giving out discounts if they "don't have to" aren't correct.
Disney could make everyone on this board happy by giving away general public, AP and FL resident discounts year round. Then if they have any rooms left over, they could offer them at rack rate. But that would be the stupidest move, business wise, that they could possibly do.
I agree that it's important to make the customer happy, but at the same time, there are plenty of very happy Disney customers booking rooms at rack rate this very second, so I don't see where Disney is wrong to hold back on the discounts.
To me, it's just more of the same old Eisner "I want more money" motto.
Of course - that's what WDW is in business for. They aren't there to make sure that everyone can afford a Disney vacation.

I agree that it's important to make the customer happy, but at the same time, there are plenty of very happy Disney customers booking rooms at rack rate this very second, so I don't see where Disney is wrong to hold back on the discounts.
Businesses change their policies all the time. Recently, my favorite store stopped doubling $1 coupons (they now only go up to $.50). I was mad, thought about going elsewhere....BUT, it is my favorite store so I still go (I just don't buy as much since a lot of what I got with the double coupons were free or near free).
Same with Disney. I want codes, and won't be happy if they don't release them...BUT, it is my favorite vacation spot and we will still go (I will just be staying at Pop Century instead of the CBR).
If any of you follow the Disney Cruise line prices, you will see that they just keep raising and raising the prices. They are really high for 2006. BUT, we love it, and so in 2006 we will go on a 4 night instead of a 7 night.
There may be a point where we just have to give up and say this is out of our price range, but so far, we are still going, just not at the level we wish we could.
I bet a lot of people are still going to go and continue to go even if they don't offer discount codes any more. I'm sure I am not alone.

*************
So far, I haven't seen where they have held back on them. If there aren't any in two weeks, then I may agree..but so far, people are getting postcards, AP codes aren't even due yet, and there seem to be plenty of rooms for our dates in May. Every code time, many get on and post the doomsday, woe is us..and so far (hope I didn't jinx us, but I was told today that the CM could see the codes coming) we've gotten them within a week or two of the time last year. If they don't come, and we still go, we'll just stay outside of Disney, and have bigger rooms for the bucks, more access to reasonably priced restaurants and an excuse to use this ticket to Universal I have burning a hole in my pocket.
BuckNaked
03-07-2005, 02:29 PM
Exactly, westjones. Of course there is a point at which it will become "too much", there will be fewer bookings, and then we'll see codes in order to get people to book. Supply and demand.
For example, I saw a question on one of these code threads, asking if those of us that have already booked haven't diminished our chances of getting codes because we've added to the occupancy rate. Probably so, but I'm going whether there are codes or not, and I want to make sure I have a room that I want and can pay for, codes or no codes. I hope there will be codes, and I'll be happy to take the discount if it becomes available. But my trip doesn't depend on it, so I don't see the point of not making reservations in the hope that I *might* get a discount.

I have a question for the old timers that have been to disney many times, I myself have only been on these boards for a little over a year and have been to disney just twice in 2004 both on general codes.
Question: Has there always been (general codes) for every season summer fall etc. or has these codes just happened in the last few or so years?
thanks brooke

Very true, DMRick. They aren't even "late" yet, so we've got some time before we need to worry. ;)
Even the next round, if they come out, won't help me for my late summer trip, but they should cover my June trip.
kutchyone
03-07-2005, 02:37 PM
If they offer no code for June then this will be the first trip that we have gone where we did not get a discount. I have never used a code though because we had the Magic Kingdom Club to get our discounts. Boy do I miss them. Don't rant yet, we may still luck out. And if not........we may just cancel our DW reservation and get a suite for less then what I am paying for our 9 nights at CSR. To be honest though, I just probably made an idle threat.

I keep seeing post about no codes = no go, and I just dont understand why you would make a ressie depending on codes that may or may not be released. We have always gotten codes for our trip (general ones, usually posted on mousesavers.com), however this year we actually received an email with a pin #. Of course I was happy to use it, saved me about $1k on rooms. But, I am still hoping for the general codes, because we have another family going to wdw with us this year and would be nice to help them save a little $$$, being its there first time (because we finally talked them into going). I too agree that the ressie should be made and go regardless. If the codes come out, woohooo thats $$$ saved, but if not, then its vacation as planned, imho
by the way, I thought 3/8/05 was a date that they may be released?

I will say that if we get AP rates, we will all buy APs and then will return to WDW either next November of March. If no AP rate, we won't buy APs and won't be back within the year. But with that said, if the place is full next November or March, what do they care if it is me who is there or someone else?

That's what I don't understand about some people on here who will book their vacation thinking codes will come out and have to cancel if they don't. I booked because I knew what we could afford and if a code comes out it's great since we will have more spending money with us and it will some money as well.

I thought someone said that they came out March 9 last year, also, I thought I heard someone else say that they would be released Mar 16th.

…The Disney Reservations Center has had eight straight weeks of record high room bookings. Looks like the parks will be crowded this summer. "Quote from MousePlanet"
We have LOVED all of our Disney vacations. All were made knowing what our "up front" costs would be. If a discount or code came along, so much the better for us. We had a little more "wiggle" room with our spending while at the parks. :Pinkbounc
I honestly didn't know about these codes or PINs...even the AP rates until accidentally coming across these boards a short time ago! I will tell you that whenever I did book I ALWAYS asked if its' the best deal, etc. and do that no matter where we stay...Disney or other vacation places.
I don't know why hotels and places don't give you the best rate upfront (what am I saying! Of course they won't...if they can get you to pay the hightest rate, so much the better for them!). I never hurts to ask...all they can say is "no"! :sad2:
My trip won't be until October, but I'm still hoping for codes for everyone so you too can have the "wiggle" room with your expenses! :rotfl:
Disney is smart, business wise that is....why give discounts if they can fill the rooms at full price? :confused3 People are still going and spending..even when they get the rooms with no discounts. People say they spend more if they get the discount, but in reality, if they go without the discount, Disney has their money upfront for the room and know you will spend at the parks too...so added bonus for them.
It makes it harder on us without discounts. :rotfl2: We stay fewer days, stay at a hotel that's not our "first pick", etc....but we still go, so why should they change their prices? Once they get to a level where they are charging too much they'll know because people will quit going. When this happens, they'll offer more discounts, codes, etc. to even things out again. If I don't go, someone will be there to take my place...so why not just make my ressies for what I can afford in the first place and "not sweat it out".
Oh, I'll tell you why....I'm a discount shopper! I hate paying full price if I don't have too. Deals make things so much more fun!!
On code watch for you all! Good luck fellow discounters!

ouch! Made my first call to check on my current reservation since we have not received anything in the mail, and to inquire about a discount email we received a few months ago and AP discounts. The CM was VERY snotty with me.
She gave huge long pauses b/w my questions ended with a sigh, and very condescending response.
She gave the unless you have the pin in front of you, we can not do ANYTHING for you. Yeah, right.
When I asked about if there were annual pass discounts for the end of April, she almost hung up on me, saying very tartly that no, there isn't and they don't have discounts all year. Yikes!
I am very sensitive and hate doing business over the phone. Why couldn't I have gotten a nice CM? I know they are tired of being asked these questions, but a waiter(usually), doesn't get hateful bc a new customer of the night comes in and asks what the specials are for the evening. Ugh.

Things don't look good. Disney will probably keep that room at rack rate for any "walk ups" (Like airlines do on thier seats!)

I just called and switched from POFQ to a value since that is what I am willing to pay IF AP codes don't come out. At least I will have a value room.
Here is what I was told. I changed our ressie with no problem to ASMo (June 14-22). I then tried to book a room for our friends (June 16-23) at the same resort and was told there were no more rooms available! WHAT! You are telling my ASMo is fully booked for mid June? That is not a good sign for codes, in my opinion.
I then had to change my ressie to POP and I was able to get my friends in there too. We will upgrade to POR IF AP codes come out. I am starting to get nervous though......
I will say this..... I will not renew my AP again. I only go 1 time a year, so the AP is for the room discount. In fact, it got me to go a second time within the year.... if no AP discounts come out, I don't renew and maybe I don't go to WDW for a few years...... lost revenue for WDW!

We had trouble booking rooms with the discount too. There were no rooms available at WL or CR for our original week, we had either a mod or the Poly to choose from. We really wanted WL so we decided to be flexible with our dates and got 3 rooms at WL the following week.

Well, yes and no.... If Disney still fills the room then there really isn't lost revenue. As a matter of accounting there is more revenue. The room has now brought in more then you were willing to pay.
If Disney does not offer AP discounts and the rooms aren't sold then there is the potential that if they had given discounts the rooms would have been sold along with all the other stuff (food, toys etc.)
With the MYW tickets I might have considered not doing an AP. I tend to do lots of "small" trips. However, the combination of the DVC AP discount and the DDE for AP holders will keep me paying!

Well, if codes come out I bet a lot of rooms at the value will become available - since that is what a lot of people book when they book what they're willing to pay

A friend just suggested buying the AP tix so when the codes come out you can get the cheaper rate...but she also said to double your savings you make sure to plan your next vacation a couple of weeks earlier so you can still use your AP Tix (for those of us that go yearly only)! You get 2 trips on the same tix for additional savings....and if you can get AP rates again...double bingo!
Never thought of that one! Thought I'd share that thought since I've not seen that hint on this thread.

I can't remember where I posted this, but I said Disney doesn't have much data on what will happen to bookings if codes don't come out, but I would think they have information on what happens to bookings when codes do come out and the movement from levels of resorts and even levels of rooms within a resort. They must know people book and move rooms around when codes become available.

D76....I called my Board of Ed last year b4 our April trip to find out when April vacation would be for 2005. Because of the timing we decided to buy the AP's. I'm not sure if we actually "saved" money though since I snuck in a third trip last August.

After hearing several times that the resorts are booking up well, I went to the website and tried to book a room for our time period May 26, for 9 days (over a holiday at that) and you can book ANY resort for ANY view. I would think if the resorts are filling so well that at least some of the resorts would not have standard views left, especially WL... Any thoughts??? I found out late that I had a pin code (yes, I had called earlier in the year, but it was under a different address). What I found after 2-3 hours on the phone Friday was that, since I apparently found my code late, a lot of the rooms for that code are gone---FOR THAT CODE!
Three things that I gathered from this:
(1) All the CMs said that rooms were available, just not for that code, so rooms that we hear are sold out may be the ones blocked for the pin codes--even then, only CBR was sold out. WL, AKL, CSR, Poly, CR, and POR were all available.
(2) Rooms ARE available for the end of May-first 2 weeks of June.
(3) Maybe codes will be coming out soon if these pin codes are getting old??

I just checked expedia.com. There are only a couple of hotels that do not have availability from May 21st to June 1st (BCV and a couple concierge level rooms at some of the deluxe resorts). I definitely don't think that the rooms are as full as some people have been saying. I hope the AP codes come out tomorrow.

I had the same issue as you. However, after spending forever on the phone with WDT, I made a room only reservation with a Travel Agent with my pin (the savings were substanial enough to warrant doing this, plus the agent was going to keep an eye out for additional discounts). Once that was complete I called WDT to cancel my reservation and the gentleman I spoke with told me that he was unsure why the previous person told me I could not get the discount. He said that it was a little more involved since I already had a reservation and the Resort we are booked for had no more rooms available, but that he just needed to contact the Resort to make the changes. After everything was said and done we kept our original package at $537 less than before.
Sometimes, I think it depends on who you talk to!

I guess I DO have too much spare time on my hands.....so I went back to the website and tried WL and BC for my dates (May 26 - 9 nights) and went all the way up to the point of giving my Visa # and the names of people traveling with me...I believe that was about 7 screens, so I kind of feel like they would have stopped me before that point, but maybe not. Just seems like after recapping the info and clicking on "Book this offer" twice, I'd be a little ticked if at that point they stated that rooms weren't available. Sometimes I wonder if all the CM's are trained at the same level, because I have read things on this board, like calling and asking if a code was attached to my name as some of you have done, and I get a CM who says that I MUST HAVE a pin # in order for him to even CHECK and see if there's one. Oh well, I guess time will tell, I know how much we all enjoy waiting..... :rotfl:

If you want to check availability for any dates in the future for any WDW resort go to tripadvisor.com and type in the resort name you desire. You have to type in "Disney's .......... resort". When you get to the next screen you can click the resort that matches your inquiry. When you reach that resort's page you can click on "compare all deals for this resort" or something like that. While Clicking you may have to hold down your Ctrl key to avoid pop up blocker from blocking the next step. You type in your dates and it compares the rates that different web sites have to offer. I have always been able to find a room anytime, even Christmas at most Disney resort's.
Disney must sell a ton of their rooms to these web sites.

I too agree that the ressie should be made and go regardless.
************
I see by your sig you only go once a year. If that was my only vacation each year at Disney, I too, would go regardless. But we usually go 4 times, and this year it's 5..but only because of the codes. We RV, travel, and have lots of other things we can do with our vacation time. Dis has only been getting the bulk of our discretionary money, because both they and SouthWest made it cheaper for us to go to Florida, than our local tourist area. No codes? I'll find another vacation. We actually have been looking at Hawaii this year..and that would stop several of our Florida trips for this year. However, if it's cheap enough (Dis), I may still do both. Believe me, Disney gets a lot of our moola when we are there, so it would be good for them to take the hit on the rooms, which may go empty otherwise.

So, several weeks ago I got this postcard from Disney congratulating me for planning a trip to the World this summer and telling me about the “great rates” available starting at “just $99 per night at a value resort!” :rotfl: My immediate thought is that Michael Eisner and all of Disney must think I am and idiot, and that I must not know about the DIS boards and Mousesavers and AllEars and that they are announcing the fabulous rack rates to the resorts. I promptly throw the card in the trash (proving to Mr. Eisner that I am, in fact, and idiot.) :rolleyes1
Then, last night at 2:30 a.m. as I am feeding my 8 month old DS, I have an epiphany and it suddenly occurs to me that it might just have been one of those special postcards that I am always hearing about. (Idiot!) I DO NOT panic, knowing as you have all taught me, that the nice CMs at the CRO can look me up in their handy-dandy computer system, but, I can’t sleep thinking about it and getting almost giddy with the thought that I really might be able to plan a trip for this summer (instead of next summer) if I can get a great rate. (Thanks, Mr. Eisner!) [BTW, my DH is really pushing a trip this year, probably because he thinks it will shut me up about going. Ha! Little does he realize that I am secretly hoping that he will be completely hooked, thereby insuring repeated trips!]
Anywhooo, I patiently waited for morning to arrive, managed to get my 2 year old DD and previously mentioned DS ready for school, got my husband out the door, and got myself to work and called the CRO to have them look me up (Disney, here I come, right?) Alas, Disney really DOES think I’m an idiot and that I don’t know that they were offering me full rack rates. (Curses Mr. Eisner!) :sad2: Sigh . . . Just thought I would share with all of you. And, by the way, I really hope they release codes for all of you very soon! Me, I will continue plugging away and planning for a Birthday trip next May (yup, that’s May of ’06) for just DH and I (leaving the kids behind).

After booking great flights in January I started checking the boards since we haven't been in a couple of years. I started out once a day, then twice, then it became an obsession. Before morning coffee, at work, as soon as I get home from work, after dinner, before bed, I am addicted. I was up at 7 am every day of my vacation looking for codes...I give up. I booked the Dolphin for April 20-24. I feel sooo relieved. Now I can sit back and relax. If codes come out and I can get a great rate..wonderful. If not I have a great resort at a great location for a great price. I am in my happy place. :flower:

Okay, this may be covered somewhere in one of the previous posts, but I'm going to ask anyway since I'm still new to all this - when I read that a code cannot be used for a package, what exactly does that mean? I mean, does hotel, tickets, and dining plan bought together count as a package, or is a package all those things plus airfare? And, if it's the first, does that mean that I should just give up my waiting game and book with AAA - who can get me room, tix, and dining for $100 less than going through CRO? :confused3

A package is buying hotel, tickets, and dining plan together. In order to apply the codes, you would have to buy everything separately. Meaning you should have a room-only reservation through CRO, if you book directly with AAA you can't apply codes either. (Stinks, I know! :flower: )

Don't consider it a waste. In the past, they've offered 7 days for the price of 4 and 7 days for the price of 5, so if that kind of package deal came out, I'm sure you'd find out about it here, too.

So I, like EVERYONE else, called WDW this morning. Talked to a CS agent
(Seattle, very nice lady) and said, "I'll bet you can't guess why I am calling today :rolleyes1 ! I asked her about Disney Visa as well as general discounts.
She said they expect them to come out virtually any time, and agreed that WDW is under a wee bit of pressure to come through with something.. :genie: As for discounts for room only vs. pkgs, correct me if I am wrong, but with the exception of the MYW Dining, the rest of the program really is set up as a room only, with choice of added tickets for your choice of days. The only caveat would be the loss of the dining portion, but If the room only discounts were significant enough, you would traditionally still come out way ahead, since the MYW tickets themselves are not priced differently for room only vs package. Yes, I am spending far too may brain functions on this trip.............

Accoring to Guest Services, the AP cannot be in the name of a child, it has to be an adult AP.
From Guest Services:
Our Pass holder discount is mainly focused for paying Adults. At this time the Pass holder must be 18+ of age.

Ugh.
The only name she would give is Antonia(sp?).
K.
You should call and ask to leave a message on the CM comment line.
Hi Everyone, I just discovered this board as we just made the decision to go on our first WDW vacation. I have a question regarding reservations. I was just going to make them online, but I see most people saying they are calling. Is this a better method? Can you get discounts if available online? I know I will have a ton of questions - but thought this a good place to start. Thanks!

Please tell me you're kidding!!!!!!! Do you mean that the ONLY way to apply the general codes is to a room-only reservation? So, if I want a package with tickets and the dining plan then I have wasted all this time wathcing for a code that is never going to help me?
No you haven't wasted your time. I received a postcard code and when I called to book they did the whole package for me. Obviously if the code is a room only code then that is where you will get the discount but you can still book a package. I just did the Magic your way package with tickets only but the CM I spoke to said you can add dining or whichever plus options you want as well the only difference is that your room rate is discounted. Hope that helps.

I had that experience as well.
I was told by CRO that general codes will never have the option to use it with a package, but the personal ones that are sent to individuals from marketing usually do.

Nina - Room Only reservations cannot be made online, even if the only thing you book online is the room. WDTC considers all reservations made online to be a "package" which you cannot amend with a code. You actually cannot use a code with a ressie made online.

Then why did I have to check room only reservation?
Where did u find out this info?
When I called yesterday, the CM called my reservation, "room only" when she was confirming the deposit. She did say that if any codes came out, that that reservation would be cancelled and a new one made bc if u use a code, you have to get a room in the "code/AAA/whatever" block. She said that was standard practise with all applying a code even if they don't tell u.
Now I am really confused. :confused3

Oh, also my confirmation page from booking online says that I can change up until 6 days before arriving,so it HAS to be considered a room only or that would be 45 days before, right?

Wouldn't that we wicked of them? I guess it would truly reward all the long-time AP holders, who buy APs year after year...it would cut down on buying APs to get the discount. I'm not going to buy an AP without knowing that the rate is available for my dates. I guess I would hate it if they did that, but in a way it would be "fair." (Then I'd start the "general codes" thread!)

I just called because we booked our room-only ressie online. It is true. In a sense they do treat those online ressies as "packages" in that they have to be cancelled if you want to apply a discount. The CM was really nice - he made us a new ressie over the phone that will be held to the 22nd. Then, if we decide to get AAA we have a room reserved and it will be open to other codes should they become available. At this point we will most likely get AAA and take the 15% discount - it is better than nothing and it will pay for the membership plus $50! Anyway, I am glad I checked the board - I have been waiting for codes thinking that if they become available we could just call and amend our existing ressie - thanks for the heads up!

I saw this in one spot and that's it. I'm not so sure it's true though. It would make those with vouchers very upset if it had to be activated.
I will not be happy because when I bought my MYW tickets CRO told me I could upgrade if AP codes come out. I would have waited otherwise, but it wouldn't be the first time that CM gave bad info.

She didn't confirm or deny the codes coming out, but did say the following:
"We were told that Disney is going to be asking for AP's that have been activated and have a confirmation number. No new AP's accepted. That is only what we here but nothing is confirmed. So we have to wait and see."

We've booked our room for June but have not bought any park passes. Would this work?>> Once codes are released, call CRO. Check on whether I can apply an AP rate to my reservation (making sure they're available for my situation). If so, buy an AP from the CM I'm talking to, then apply the code to my reservation.
I don't want to buy an AP unless I know for sure I can use it on my dates. We're far enough away that I'm not going to be able to come back for a few years.

I'd be a little disappointed if they had to be activated. I just bought my family's first APs because we've just planned a last minute April trip that will make economic sense to have an AP - and if I can apply a discount than that will be even better. Any discount that may become available was not the deciding factor, but if one is available and it is for the dates I will be using the AP, then I feel that I should be able to benefit from it even if my AP isn't activated yet. To repeat the sentiments of other posters, time will tell. Hopefully it will tell my wallet something good! :rotfl:

I would hope that they do not do that! I can't see Disney only accomodating people with an activated pass. I don't see it in their best interest.
In the past, I have booked an AP rate and bought the voucher in the same phone call. I then called once new dates opened for additional bookings and told the CMs that I only had the voucher. I have never had any problem booking. In fact, I have arrived late at check-in with only the voucher and have had no problem using the AP rate.
In all instances where I have only had the voucher, Disney has been fair with me. As a "voucher holder" the only thing I would like is access to the AP portion of the website (I have paid my $ for the pass), but can see why this is only open to current, valid passholders.
IMO, you need at least the voucher to get the AP rate on check-in. The CM's may ask you for a valid pass within 24 hours of check-in - this is only fair.
Jalva22, what you are talking about doing should work. That's what I have done in the past, although with AP rates I just re-book the reservation then cancel the old one.

If this helps, I called Sunday to give WDW my flight numbers for Magical Express. He said if I need help with park passes, Cirque du Soleil, etc . to let them know. I mentioned that I would be buying AP's & he said I would need an activated one to check-in. So according to HIM you could book AP rate with a voucher (or w/o having it yet) but you'd need to drop off your stuff & go and get it activated first. I have heard that they will let you come back to the front desk later in th e day to show it activated or they will charge you rack rate at check out. I have to say the the constant conflicting information from Disney CM's is really getting irritating.

No one has posted a Sav View yet, but I bet that pin will beat it. I thought about $188 for Sav View with these rates, but I don't know for sure. I just took the same % off the standard and did that for the Sav View. Who knows if that's correct or not. It would seem that most cannot even book the rooms yet.

Okay. I thought I saw $155 w/tax for standard view, which didn't seem much less than my savannah view ($185 w/tax). We weren't hoping for an ap code for that (though we're AP holders) cause we figured it would be the same as the pin code. We are paying $265 w/out tax ($295 w/tax) at CR for a tower, and I saw I think $209 for a wing room with the AP rate. Just wondering how good these rates are, if they're normal, etc. We've only used our AP for value resorts in this time period so I never knew what the deluxe discounts were.

Are these rates good? My AKL pin code rate is $166 for savannah view (without tax).
Based on what I've seen so far (values for $74, mods for $109), the rates don't look to be nearly as good as this time last year, when I think that values were $59 and mods $74. However, with the apparent success of the MYW packages, I can see why the discounts wouldn't be as deep.

I just got off the phone with CRO and was able to book 2 rooms at WL with AP code (EWY) for our trip May 7-15. She was well aware of the code letters as soon as I said I was calling about the AP code rate. Rate is $139 standard room. Rate for POFQ would have been $109 standard room. Thank you to OP !! :cool1: :cheer2:

I was the one who posted from the other thread. I spoke with Jenavive who was great! I told her AP code EWY and she found it in the system. She did tell me I was the first she was booking for these codes. She was based in Orlando which surprised me because I rarely get a CM from Orlando. A lot of times I get a CM from another city other than Orlando. She got me the code. I would say it is one of those nights where it is completely random on who gets codes and who does not. Tomorrow should be the day everyone can get them.
One other observation. The AP Rates seem higher than last year. I think Disney knows bookings are up so AP Rates are higher for that reason. But we will take it. These rates are still better than Rack anyday!
Good luck to all tonight or tomorrow!

I also tried to use the EWZ code for FL residents and ws told it was not available for booking. When I insisted I knew someone who had booked it the CM offered to speak to a supervisor. Someone from Guest Relations then got on the phone and tried to get me to give the name of the "friend" I said had gotten these rates. She insisted it was impossible as this code has not been released from marketing and they cannot confirm it is even a valid code. I said it would be wrong of me to give them someone elses name and we agreed that perhaps this friend had just held a room in hopes of the code being released.I hope they don't have a big star by my name in their computer for being a pain, although I was very polite and thanked them for checking, etc.
Anyway, I really doubt that anyone has really booked using this code as of yet. I did get the strong impression that it probably was a pending code though, there is hope for us yet!

I just called cro not the 800#. She said April 1st the ap codes would be out. :confused3
Why are the rates so much higher this year? :confused3 With the gas going up so high I would think they would take that into consideration.
The economy must be really doing well.

Not just the economy, but WDW in particular. While the price of gas is of concern to you and I, there isn't any reason for Disney to care one way or the other about it. My guess is that the higher rates this year reflect the success of the MYW packages and Disney realizes that they can book the rooms at higher code rates. I'm currently booked at POP for $99/night, so I'll be more than happy to get it for $74 if that's what is offered.

I can't tell from the posts because the time is off but when did the AP disc come out? 3/8 or 3/9?
Thanks
A few people got them last night, but officially they came out today.
Does anyone know if they take calls in order received or is it random? If there is no "cue" for calls and it's random, maybe it would be better just to keep hanging up and calling back, rather than sitting on hold??

We're checking in on July 4th, but I may change that to the 5th if rates are lower then. We'll probably split our stay a week at POR, then a week at a Deluxe as long as there are AP rates :wizard:
I just wanted to get the majority of our reservation made now, just in case, and it makes it more "real" :p
