Two thoughts.
1. I ripped on SSR some time ago but that resort is just Beautiful. It is more beautiful than all the pictures. It is amazing. It still needs help (more pools and restaurants).
2. SSR needs a big bridge. SSR is so close but so far from DTD. Its right there but the boat comes every 30 minutes and its too long of a hike to the middle of DTD. I say, Build a big honking bridge right accross the lake. :rotfl2:

Glad to hear that you liked it. I also thought a bridge across the lake to DTD would be wonderful. Expensive, but wonderful.
I don't think the boat even comes by that often...isn't it once per hour? Kind of a joke, if you ask me.

Thanks for posting!!
I agree, SSR is beautiful! I thought about the bridge too, but it would be like running a bridge across Crescent lake from BC to BW . We really enjoyed the walk and had some nice family moments on those walks so I think of it as Disney's way of making us slow down!

Yeah, but then we'd have to hear about the loooooooong bridge that you have to walk to get to DD. If it does happen, I'm going to chalk it up to a conspiracy by BWV owners to deflect criticism away from those hallways. ;)
At present, the boat runs on the hour until 4pm, then it's every half hour. The one nice thing about the boat is that it hits docks both on the West Side and Marketplace. The walking path to the Marketplace is clearly marked and deceptively quick, but I understand the one to the West Side is quite a bit longer and even hard to follow.

:ssst: If more people post threads like this - People buying SSR may actually stay at SSR. Then other DVcer's may start staying. Then SSR owners will have hard time booking unless in 7-11 month windows. I guess that would allow us to stay at other resorts if They were booking SSR. :worried:
All said in fun :rotfl2:

It appears that the distance across the lake might not be that long. Perhaps a smaller boat (more cost effective) or how about canoes!!!!Sort of like the white painted bikes in Amsterdam....you just use it and drop it wherever you are going and the next person who sees it there rides it somewhere else.
Maybe there could be an underwater 'track' that boats could travel back and forth on, auto pilot style...a boat escalator!

I don't mind the walk in either direction (to Marketplace or West Side). I wouldn't want to make it too easy for the hordes of people at DD to start wandering thru SSR - I like the privacy.

Perhaps a drawbridge complete with fire-breathing dragon?

We just bought into SSR and can't wait to stay there. What about a sky-ferry to transport across the water just like you see at any ski resort. :flower:

ROFL...I love it Bill. Perfect! How about some Golf Carts to use on it (because no one would dare walk that far! ;) ).

Looks like we might have to post a warning somewhere:
"CAUTION: Long-term exposure to Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa may cause a reversal of opinion."

They need a disney Hovercraft;) Just pack your own boat and take it with you if you are staying at SSR.
I cant wait to stay there NYD!
DS is looking forward to the billiards table. And since it is so close to DD I guess we will be buying PAPs again instead of APS, to use DQ. Add room service from the Cheescake factory and it will be perfect!!;)

I loved SSR when I was there In Dec - it did seem a bit empty because of all the construction, but I could see the potential for a really stunning resort when it's completed. We stayed in the building farthest from the Carriage House and closest to the path to DTD Marketplace. The walk to the Carriage House was worse than the one to DTD, and here's why.
If you walk along the trail behind the buildings by the lake you can only go so far. Then you reach a gazebo and an inlet of water that has no bridge. So now you make a right hand turn, walk back up to the road, make a left, then walk along the road to the Carriage House. If ever there should be a bridge, it should span that little inlet and allow you to walk along the water all the way to the Carriage House. Anyone else notice this?

D4D They know about this. When we were there last May for Member Homecoming / Founders Day, we got a studio that overlooked the gazebo and the canal. At check-in, the CM told us that we'd have to walk up to the road to get from our bldg to the Town Center area, but that there really should be a bridge across the canal. It really would make it easier, as well as completing the "Promenade" around the SSR/DTD lake.

I'm glad they know about it, walking along the road was less than scenic and a touch inconvenient. It would also give you more of a place to bike. Hey, you could make it pier and rent fishing stuff so you could fish off the bridge, just a thought.
