May 4-11th, Saratoga Springs, no specific plans yet, would LOVE to meet with any solo trippers!

I'll be there May 14th-21st. I currently have ressies for POP, but thinking about renting DVC points, especially if AP codes don't come out soon. I have three tours booked (KTTK at MK, Sedgeway at Epcot, and the backstage safari one at AK). First ever solo trip and so excited, but very nervous too. I can be a little timid at first, but sure I'd like to meet some fellow DISs'.

I have a sort of solo trip planned May 7-13, but I have plans to meet up with other DISers here and there throughout my stay.

I'm staying at the Dolphin my first night, and then moving over to the Boardwalk to make my first trip home since I bought DVC :)

One of the things I'll definitely be planning is a Jellyrolls meet (or two, or five) that week. I will decide when it gets closer--I have to wait for the schedule to come out so I can plan it on a night when my guys Scotty and Ray are playing!

Hi there! I am so excited to post here! I am going solo May 18-22 for a "conference", *wink wink*. DH isn't going on that trip because we're going back in June with friends!

I don't have ANYTIHNG planned yet, but I would love to meet other solo DISers there! A tour sounds great! I've always wanted to do one. What Segway tour are you going on? Any spots available?

wishing and hoping! may come true! (Ok, I'll admit that I am easily swayed...)

Believe that I will be in NC and SC April/May, so may need to do a swing by WDW to see if it's still there since my last visit in January! :rotfl:

I'll be there too :cool1: May 9-23 , splitting my stay between POR and CSR :) I'm not sure yet, but think a friend might be joining me for a week so only part of this trip will be solo. I've already started making my PS's for meals.

I booked the tours several weeks ago, but called back this morning to change the Sedgeway tour from 9:30 to 8:30am. They only take I believe like 10 people for the Sedgeway tour, but when I asked about changing the time she said 'no problem' so as of about an hour ago they still had room. I'm doing all three tours at 8:30am--Around the World @ Epcot on a Sedgeway on 5/15, Backstage Safari on 5/16, and KTTK on 5/18.

Although I'll be in WDW in May (May 25-30), I won't be traveling solo - I'll be traveling with my mom. She loves WDW (almost) as much as I do, so I'm looking forward to traveling with her. We'll be at the Dolphin.

A lot of people posted on the 2005 list...that's why it looks like there are so few for May.

I'm working on a Solo Traveler list which is currently on the Solo Annual Meet Thread. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=7813453#post7813453 If I can figure out a way to do it easily maybe I'll keep it up.

I'm hoping to go 5/6 thru ? but what with the roll out of the celebration I dunno...

I'll be there for a quick solo trip May 4-6 (I was afraid I'd lose my disneyfreak status if I missed the b-day kick off) and back a few days later to bring my Dad May 10-14.

If anyone will be visiting 5/9 - 5/18 (I'll be at Pop Century) and wants to hook up for a drink or something, please let me know--especially if you want to hit The Adventurers Club (I was almost going to blow off PI completely until I read about AC, and decided it is not to be missed!!) or the Flower Power concerts. The only day I will be out of commission is Sunday, 5/15, as I'm going to KSC--I could not believe the kismet when it was recently announced that the return-to-flight is scheduled to happen on the day I would be there...just awesome!

It's my first trip to WDW. Grew up on Disneyland and was so jealous when WDW opened in '71, dreamed about visiting. Then I guess I had a 34 year brain fart, burned out on DL, and got too jaded working in the Business (destroys any studio's magic).....Was practically ambivalent a few weeks ago when I first started thinking about taking this trip, but now after the reading and planning and purchasing--I am just whipped up!!

:flower: I have plans to go May 13th. till May 18th. My husband is a little nervous about me going by myself. I guess I'm a little apprehensive too. I feel badly about leaving my husband and kids home. I've never had time away from them at the same time and could really use some time by myself. If anyone is going to be down there around the same time, let me know.

In case you have the wrong idea about the Shuttle launch - - The "official" word is 5/15 - 6/3/2005 : Space Shuttle Return to Flight- STS-114 Discovery. These dates are the launch planning window. A firm date has not yet been selected.. What that means is that May 15 is the earliest possible launch date, NOT a confirmed launch date. They have had a variety of issues (mostly regarding the Repair Kit, but some other concerns as well) that have put them behind schedule. So they MAY or MAY NOT launch while you are here. Good luck! :)

Thank you for your response. I am aware of the implications of the launch window and some of the issues at play. However, you are somewhat mistaken, in that 5/15 has in fact been announced as the target date for this launch (various media, but doesn't appear on KSC website as such). It's also been made clear that there's a big push to succeed on this target date for a number of reasons, none the least of which is public relations, hence, the usual disclaimer about a launch window isn't entirely applicable. However, I don't think anyone is foolish enough to assume safety or other mission readiness would be compromised just to hit the target date. I'm personally not foolish enough to not have a Plan B.....Do you work for NASA?

I have also heard 5/15 to early June as the "window" from my friend at NASA and from their website.

Also from NASA website:

What is a launch window?

The period of time in which the vehicle can be launched, usually ranging anywhere from one second to several hours.

Plus, they only give window dates to the public and not direct dates since 9/11.

Wish there was a more diff. date. Would love to see a launch!!

You refer to a launch window as being a range of dates then refer to it as a timeframe in a single day--??

Re: the 9/11 constraint: Guess KSC will have a terrible time selling all those tickets for their special Launch Viewing Tour that they've been publicizing since they won't be allowed to ever reveal the actual date to the public.

So sorry so many folks missed the CNN press release. Oh, well.

We really want to see a date release, and launch date-would you please post this site with the dates?

Also did you catch that word "usually"? Re-read it, but still want some facts on our end. We want to see the next launch the last was aweome, horrible what happened on re-entry- though-God Bless them.

Thanks we really appreciate it!

I will be heading to WDW on May 1 - May 8! I'm so excited! I completely forgot about the Birthday kickoff. Can anyone tell me what is in store? BTW, I am a single dad traveling with a 6 DS. Does this eliminate me from future posts here?

Evil Queen

Are you heading to the Kennedy Space Center?

No? Then this MAY be the wrong post/thread.

Do NOT look for a May 15th launch, more than likely will not happen that day. But you may catch a launch between then and 6/3. IF weather is "bad-horrible" may not happen until later. Next shuttle launch planned in July-PLANNING WINDOW July 12 thru July 31. Mission STS-121.

Are you looking for a single trip to Orlando, then by all means this forum is what you may be looking for?

Just a a note, from an innocent...I was going by the last post or three,,,,,sorry I should not have posted much of the above. Please delete if needed. Thanks!!

Do you work for NASA?No, I do not work for NASA. I do have a friend who works for NASA at KSC. He told me that in spite of the general media jumping to conclusions and announcing a May 15 launch date as soon as they heard the "planning window," there is no "official" launch date, only the 5/15 to 6/3 launch planning window. He seems pretty sure it will happen "the week of the 15th," which may or may not end up being the 15th itself. They will begin selling tickets for launch viewing as soon as they have set an official launch date. I had no intention of discouraging you, but could not tell from your original post if you knew that there was no official launch date set yet.

In any case, I'm sure you will have a wonderful time at WDW. :)

OK...Flying in May 7 and spending 2 days at Universal while staying offsite at Celebration World next to Celebration. Then checking into BWV early the 9th.
Leaving the evening of the 12th. Not sure if I'm solo or with my DD but in either event would love to meet up with some other Disboarders.

Jellyrolls? Adventure Club? Illumination Cruise? Where ever, I'm bringing my lime green Mickey from Home Depot!

Hi everyone!

I'll be going solo from May 16th through May 21st so I can have my first birthday at the World! (Celebrate my birthday for the first time, that is, I'm not turning 1...) Staying at SSR for the 16th -18th and BWV for the 19th and 20th, though I may change the 18th to BWV as well, all depends on whether or not I decide to Jellyroll for the 18th or PI it!

Would like to see SWW on Friday or Saturday, see the new rides and show obviously. Thinking about going to Typhoon Lagoon if the weather is nice one day and try the new power slide. (Maybe the last day.) I also need to get around to reserving a tour. I think I'd like to do Keys to the Kingdom, just not positive yet.

Perhaps I'll see some of you there?

Well, I just realized that one should never advertise that they have just bought into DVC and are going to visit SOLO! LOL

First, my sister sort of invited herself. Now, I just found out that my daughter 'got off work' so itis 'ok' if I use my newly-earned free ticket (bumped flight) to fly her to the World.

But honestly, I am really happy they are coming...I'll get my chance to go solo
one of these days. I will have Saturday to myself...May 7. They are both arriving around midnight that night. And when I realized May 8 was mother's day...well, now I am excited to celebrate it with my kid!

Guess I have to get OFF the solo board for now...I'll be back for Food and Wine shhhh don't tell.

I'll be in Orlando alone from May 17 (late at night) until May 21 (lunch time). I have a seminar on the 18th and 19th, with a totally free day on the 20th! I was thinking I'd go to IOA since I will be on I-Drive with a free shuttle to the Universal parks. That means no Disney this trip unless I meet up for dinner or drinks at night. I thought I'd post anyway, because you never know who else might be thinking of IOA on the 20th! I'm also keeping an eye out for any DIS meets at night that I can take a cab down for.

I'll probably head over to Orlando (and most likely WDW) each weekend except for next weekend (May 7th and 8th- flying up to Boston). I haven't checked out Lucky yet, and I can't get enough of the Crush N Gusher (and I need to check out the latest update to Stitch)

Ok, I thought I knew most everything that had to do with the World, but what exactly is Jelly Rolls? I assume its on the boardwalk, correct? And speaking of the boardwalk, how does a "day guest" reach this area? Sorry for the Newbie-ish questions, I'm rather surprised I'm asking them!

Hi Slacking...luv the name ;)
so, your coming up to my neck of the woods!...I am north of Boston. Jelly Rolls, yes it is on the Boardwalk, you can park in the Boardwalks parking lot, not sure what the rules are for people parking without staying on site. I was there las May and drove right into the lot and parked....free of charge, but was staying at the CBR. and I had the "parking sign", actully you could probaly park at any of the areas there to get to Jelly Rolls............

Howdy, Slacking! Jellyrolls is a great 'dueling pianos' bar, two pianists, switch every hour, singing and playing pretty much anything the audience requests. It's a great time, my last trip I went almost every night. They may hassle you about parking in the Boardwalk's official lot, but if you go past the Boardwalk's entrance up to the traffic light, there is a parking lot on your right that is open for anyone to park in who wants to go to the Boardwalk.

Will be there 5/25-5/31 at the Swan. I have to come back to this thread in the AM. :cool1:

I'm sorry that I'll miss you, Dan! But I don't think I can wait that much longer to go. :)

Uh-oh, ThePhantomsGirl - - It isn't the 19th and 20th. The Pal Mickey Reunion is the 12th through the 15th, and we check in this Thursday, the 12th. I sure hope you realize that. :cool1:

Oh man...NEVER post before morning coffee - LOL! :sad2:

Yes, I do realize it's THIS week...and did this morning - I just messed up the dates...

Smiles,
Holly

Whew! Sure glad to hear that! We're all set for dinner at Garden Grill on Thursday and (if you are up to it) dinner at Le Cellier at Epcot with Moonmom and her husband on Friday.

Will anyone else here be there those dates? Keep an eye out for people with dressed-up Pal Mickeys, and I don't mean just the tux! :cool1:

I was just at Disney for 7 days a little more than a week ago (April 24-30). I booked my first SOLO trip for May 23-27 last week. I reserved a room at the All Star Music Resort because I figured there was no reason to stay somewhere fancy while vacationing alone. I have stayed at the ASM before and really enjoyed it and thought it may be a little less hectic than POP even though that resort looks like fun.

I've been in the parks before on my own many times before. I used to break away from the family back in the 80's when I was young and loved every minute of it. While I was there this past last week of April, I snuck into the MK on a Monday night by myself and had a fine time.

Anyways, I want to make sure my new Annual Pass pays for itself. The last week of May is my last chance to get out there before the Summer crowds hit. I won't be planning on gong out there again until November or December at the earliest.

If any other SOLO's are going to be at the world during this time and would like to grab a beer out at the World Showcase or something, drop me a line. Heck, even if you don't drink, you can be useful in allowing me to circumvent EPCOT's no double fisting policy.

I'm a rather hip 29 yr old guy who runs his own business here in Houston...I hate attending long weddings but love the free crap that comes with it....just to give you an idea of what you might be dealing with ;)
