We are looking for a car for one of our daughters , she will be getting her DL :scared1: in about 2 weeks. For the past few months we have looked and looked but can't seem to find that "cheap but reliable " car for her,so I have been lurking ebay motors. We can't seem to find anything close to home- but plenty 100 or more miles away :moped: I obviously am nervous about buying a car that I can't inspect first- what should I do ? :confused3

We bought a car off EBay several years ago and it turned out to be a great car. My son went to look at it before the end of the auction.

my DH also bought a car off Ebay. We were very pleased with it. Even after hotel and airfare he still saved a few thousand dollars. He kept the car a year and we had to trade it in for a new car due to a car accident in a different car (it left his neck hurting and the suv wasn't helping.) That being said we had the car a year and the dealership gave us the price minus $1,000. Which was deducted from the new car so we saved some tax. Not bad. Just make sure that they have excellent feedback and you can test drive the car before final payment. Good luck!

not sure where you live but look into federal auto auctions, we have some here and they are great,

I sold my truck on ebay and it was a very easy experience. I had it inspected at PepBoys prior to listing it and posted the results for all bidders to see. The buyer called me and asked if I would have it inspected at the dealer and send him the paperwork..which I did. So in the end, he knew just what he was getting.

You get a good sense of who the person is from their post and feedback, but be sure you get some written documentation of the car's ins and outs. Good luck!

We also had a great experience buying a car on eBay; in fact we're shopping for our next one right now!

I'd ask the seller if you can inspect it before making final payment. We did and were totally satisfied. Even with airfare, hotel, etc. we still saved $2500!

BTW, it was a Toyota Corolla...very reliable!

We just bought a car on e-bay and are very happy with it. We bought it for our son from a dealership in Branson, MO. It is a 2000 Mustang convertable with 34,000 miles on it. It blue booked for 12,200 and we paid just over half that price. Before we put in our bid we bought the car-fax on it which made us feel better. The savings was well worth the 10 hour drive!

My DH buys collector cars off Ebay often but always sends an appraiser first. You should do a google search for a car appraiser in the state the car is coming from. A car is a big investment and you should double check everything. Good luck!
