Decided to stick w/ the rental from National for our trip in 2 weeks. Having never rented a car before (and not visitng WDW since '93)----what exactly do I do once we've collected our bags? Are there signs directing us to the EA....or must we go thru the National desk? Thanks.

I believe there is a sign by the National desk directing you to the lot.

We will be doing EA too at MCO. Should I wait for/collect the luggage with the kids while my DH goes to EA, gets a car and comes back to pick us up or should we all go together? I have two little ones in a double stroller plus my (senior) mom, too so there's a lot to lug. Also thinking of what would be fastest since I know you always have to wait for your luggage to come up. Thanks for your help.

not a big deal at all. Get your luggage, walk outside across the street are the rental lots, up the elevator and you're at the EA. Piece of cake!

We always arrive on B side (USAir), we rent a luggage cart ($2) and take the elevator down to level 1 (baggage claim is level 2) and then go through the doors across from the National counter and cross the street to EA.
Your husband could get the car and then circle back around to the arrival level and pick you all up outside baggage claim. Although if he's not familiar with the airport, I'd be a little nervous about that.
