AP December Special-Last Year ??

Did anyone get the December Special on Annual Passes last year? If so, could you fill me in with the details?

I am trying to decide if I should renew in Sept. or wait for December and possibly a better deal.

We are not going until Nov. 25, so even if we renew in Sept, we will not use them till Nov.

Last December there was a Friends & Family gift annual pass made available. The benefit to this annual pass was that it was the same price as renewing an annual pass without the requirement of getting a renewal date effective when your last pass expired, thus allowing you to get vouchers and activate them when you wanted to. Disney did not advertise this as the purpose, you were suppose to buy them for your friends or family (I wish I had friends and family that wanted to give my family annual passes to Disney). I don't think too many were actually given as gifts. If they offer it again this year we will order them again and save them until we are ready to go again. One word of caution, Disney sent out many renewal voucher (which required showing your prior annual pass and would have ended up with you your original annual pass date). We had to send those back and request we be sent the "gift vouchers" so that we did not have to show an annual pass. I hope this makes sense.

That helps me decide--since we have APs that expire the end of Sept, I think we will go ahead and renew them.
