I was searching on Discovery's site to find out when the new DCL show would be on the travel channel & found this! It sounds amazing! I am surprised that no DISers were there to report on any of them! Anyhow...here it is. It looks like there will be 5 days of proposals on The Magic!

Joe & Angela
Mon, Feb. 7, at 1 p.m. ET/PT
Joe thinks Angela deserves a vacation; he'll give her that, and a whole lot more. When there is a surprise knock on Joe and Angela's door, they will be whisked away to five-star treatment at Walt Disney World Resorts. After a magical night of VIP treatment, we'll unleash another surprise on Angela and take her aboard the Disney Magic cruise ship, where Joe will finally explain that all this was for the Perfect Proposal.

Brian & Cathie
Tue, Feb. 8, at 1 p.m. ET/PT
Brian knows Cathie loves all things Mickey, the Mouse, that is. So, aboard the magical Disney cruise line he's set up a special game show just for her to show off her Mickey Mouse memory. When Cathie wins, she'll be taken on a special VIP tour of the ship that will conclude with the best prize a girl like Cathie could ask for: a hug from Mickey Mouse and a diamond ring from the man who loves her.

Rob & Megan
Wed, Feb. 9, at 1 p.m. ET/PT
When in Rome, you do like the Romans; it would make sense then, when with Disney you do like the fairy tales. This is exactly what Rob has in store for his girlfriend, Megan. Megan and Rob's daughter, Taylor, will have a day of pampering where they'll learn to be bona fide princesses. And we all know at the end of the fairytale, the princess gets her prince; in this case, it will be Rob on bended knee.

Eric & Tasha
Thu, Feb. 10, at 1 p.m. ET/PT
Eric and Tasha's story is fit for the big screen. So, after Eric surprises Tasha with a Disney cruise, he'll begin his work to fulfill this huge task. Eric will put together a compilation of photos documenting their life together. Then, after a red carpet arrival, he will showcase his masterpiece at the Walt Disney Theatre and finally ask for Tasha's hand in marriage. How's that for an award-worthy performance?

Jon & Liz
Fri, Feb. 11, at 1 p.m. ET/PT
Jon and Liz both love romance and adventure. So Jon has set his proposal site at Disney's private island, Castaway Cay. But Jon must keep his proposal secret from Liz for nearly their entire Disney cruise while setting up an adventure-filled proposal day that includes parasailing, kayaking and finally a magical picnic on a secluded beach. There, Jon will abandon adventure and go straight for the romance, asking Liz to be his wife.

Would also like to see these.....I guess they do extremely special things since it is going to be on TV.....we had put together a compliation DVD of my DD's entire life up and including her graduation from High School....we spent months putting this together!!! I though what a wonderful idea to present it to her onboard with all the family and many friends that were cruising with us.

I contacted DCL and inquired about showing the DVD in the Walt Disney Theatre or Buena Vista Theatre....I was told that those venues absolutely could not be rented out for any reason!!! We wound up showing it in the ESPN club and had a private party and our DD was thrilled with the DVD, especially seeing it on the big screen...we all had tears in our eyes!!!

Anyway...can't wait to see these shows!!!

I just watched the first "Perfect Proposal" episode (I'm home sick from work)....and I'm crying like a baby. Oh, how I'd love for something like that to happen to me someday! How romantic!

I'm still confused about the "travel channel" ... I don't have it through my cable subscriber (comcast) but I do have it "On Demand" ... how does that work? There's only a few shows listed on the On Demand site and none of them are disney :(

The "On Demand" is a like a library selected progamming from that channel that you can choose from where as the actual Travel Channel is the channel itself. Sometimes they have Disney programs that are listed in the On Demand, you just have to watch for them.

I have the show set to tape everyday too...but I watched today and... I have to say it was very irritating that they didn't even get on the ship until the last 2 minutes of the show and then he proposed before they even left the port! I wanted to see more of the ship! (an less of them....they were a bit...well, ditzy!) I am holding out hope that the other 4 episodes will spend more time on the ship!
(I just need a good Disney Infomercial! guess I could go watch that DVD they sent me...) :earsboy:

the reason they did that is becos the crew really did shoot 5 proposals on ONE cruise. i think they could only shoot maybe 2 at a time. a perfect proposal shoot usually takes 3 days, and then they have turnaround time...they shot the first one before the ship left so that particular crew could start editing before the other 4 got back. also the next four will all be on the cruise.

Thanks PHILADISNEY!
I was thinking this might be the case since previous cruisers mentioned being on a cruise last november where there were camera crews every where and the shows would air on February. I had a hunch that maybe they filmed all 5 shows on the same cruise. Glad to hear someone else thinks this the case too...
I will, then, reserve further judgement for after I have viewed the other 4 episodes! :teeth:

We were on the Wonder 1/30 and during the red carpet b4 the Golden Mickey's they did an interview or 2 and then said they had someone coming up who wanted to ask a very important question (or something like that). Then there was a couple and he proposed to his girlfriend and everyone in the theatre got to see and hear it all. A few mins later when they walked into the theatre they got a big ovation from the crowd.

I must admit, I even got a bit misty-eyed at the end on today's show. Seeing the couple on the bridge brought back some very happy memories for my DW and I from our cruise this past January. The only thing different is, we had Capatin Thord, not Captain Tom, on our cruise.

And they met at Washington University (my school!)!!! How exciting! :bounce:

One comment about today's show...is it me, or did the captain look like he wanted to be anywhere but on that bridge at that moment?

Don't feel bad. I thought I'd have time to run to Walmart after dropping my DS at Preschool. The girls and I got home in time to hear the ship's captain ask his question (won't reveal for those who missed the show) and the proposal. How sick is that?! I knew the show was going to be on too. DOH!

**Just saw Mickey426's post after submitting my post**. Mickey426, I saw the captain too. I seemed to look at his actions more than watching the couple. He did seem to appear uncomfortable or wanted to try and give the couple as much privacy as possible while remaining at his post.

today's show was great. although i found yesterday's proposal more emotional, i liked kathy much better than angela. she was so giddy and was a serious disney fan....we should recruit her for the DIS boards! :teeth:

did anyone else think it was funny when the boyfriend correctly answered that mickey's original name was mortimer, and when nikki asked how he knew he said something like "that's the evil brother guy" :rotfl:

just finished watching today's. showed more of the ship, which was great! when i was watching it, our DS 3 (who was 2 at the time when we were on our cruise), blurted out "hey, mommy, we been there!!", when they showed the magic! it was so cute.

anyways, i thought tonight's episode was better than last night's. (night, cuz i watch it on vcr, recorded) only because it showed more of the ship. like someone mentioned on an earlier post, i was more interested in checking out the ship, than the couple/proposal.

happy watching tomorrow! :flower:

Who was the Mickey Mania Host....I did not look like anyone I remember from Cruise Staff....was it? or was it someone from the TV show? And just so anyone would like to know...Mickey Mania is a true game show onboard but it is really played with 4 teams of 1 adult and 1 child each!!!

I didn't see today's post but did recognize the girl from the game show. She was a very energetic cast member. She wore a dark wig for pirate night & was dancing almost the entire time on stage while the others took a break. She also cohosted the Golden Mickey's after show party in Studio Sea.

She was traveling as a passenger for two weeks to enjoy the ports before returning home to have a baby. I believe she was 6 weeks pregnant then. Her DH was going to be remaining on The Magic as a head server. She was wonderful with our children.

Nadege told us in August she and her husband were looking to start a family. It's was nice seeing her, if only for a brief few seconds. One more episode to go, this has been fun watching. OK- I am watching right now and how is it that Castaway Cay is so empty?!!

Even though it was chilly and windy when we went a few weeks ago, it was PACKED! Also, everything I have ever seen on the internet and all, and everyone's pictures has also shown it packed!

I wouldn't think that they would be able to keep everyone off just so they could film this stuff.

Oh well- it brings back great memories of the cruise!

Wow, I just wasted 30 minutes on this show. Not enough ship video, and the lack of people in the background shots of the ship and Castaway Cay means they really must of kept everything roped off.

GrayFal
02-11-2005, 01:35 PM
Hey, I recognized them! (so much for my 'blonde girl' comment)
We were at the wine tasting with them and I think I saw my head :earsgirl: when they did the shot of PALO from the outside deck - I was sitting at the window table to the far left in that shot...I remember that fabulous red dress she had on plus the camera crew! They sat 2 tables over from us.
As for CC being empty, if you noticed the shots of the ship when they were setting up the treasure chest, you will see lots of black clouds - by 2:30-3:00 p.m. most people were heading back to the ship .... it got very cool and windy.

Thanks for posting this reminder :jester:

That's what I was thinking that maybe they shot the footage of the proposal near the end of the day, after most people went back to the ship. I know during our August 2004 day at CC we had some bad thunderstorms move in and nearly everyone headed back to the ship around 3pm, leaving the beach quite empty.

Wednesday's episode was still the best as far as I am concerned, that couple gets my vote!!!

lbgraves
02-11-2005, 03:38 PM
They did have quite a full schedule for the day so that makes perfect sense. IDK how I could go biking, parasailing, take a banana boat ride, & get a massage all in one day on CC. I thought today's show was nice too. I really wish that I had seen Wednesday's with the way everyone is talking about it. I'll have to keep an eye out for the reruns.

I think the Wed show was the most planned proposal. He was divorced with a little girl and Megan was the childcare provider he left his daughter with. They got together and she and the daughter Taylor were almost inseparable.
They would do dress ups and all. He planned to have them dress up in the wd theater.
they did a pirate skit and Rob came up from the stage lift dressed as a pirate and pretended to save her and then proposed.
Now my husband is not one to get emotional but shed a few tears on this one.By far the best of them all.

I voted for Wednesday's couple as well. Their story, the prep work for the proposal, and what damsel would't go ga-ga over her pirate protecting her? I loved that The TLC dressed up Megan and Taylor (Rob's daughter).

Crazy question, but were all the couples on the boat at the same time? If not, think of how many magical days the host of Perfect Proposal got to be on the Mickey boat! Tough job.... ;)

Place my vote for Wednesday's couple. Hope they win. That little girl was adorable. Today's bride-to-be annoyed me a little - she kept interrupting the proposal with her "You did goods." But, that didn't stop me from shedding a tear of happines for them.

Have any of the regular watchers of this show seen someone say "No"? Just curious.

I watch the show a couple of times a week and so far I haven't seen anyone say no.

By the way, does anyone know when they will be rebroadcasting these episodes? I have TiVo set to record anything that is about Disney or the Disney Cruise Line, but for some reason it didn't tape any of these episodes. And since this past week was a really crazy one for me, I didn't know that DCL was on and missed all but Thurs. and Fri. I would love to see the Wednesday one that everyone keeps talking about.

I read about these episodes on the board. When I went to record them my listings with my cable co didn't say anything about Disney.

I know that as of the first 100 episodes, no one had said no - I doubt anyone ever has that you would see on TV, because everyone who appears on the show has to sign a release form giving TLC permission to use their image on Perfect Proposal and blahblahblah. since the girls aren't in on the scheme, they aren't asked for their signature until after the proposal has occurred. i doubt any girl would then sign the form if they had said no! :scared: i have oftened wondered though if any women have said "yes" just out of shock or not wanting to hurt the guy's feelings for going through so much trouble and whatnot and then later changed their mind.

Yeah I really want to see Wednesday's too! I've noticed in the past though it usually takes at least a month or 2 before they show a repeat of a new show :worried: hopefully that won't be the case!

Apparently when they were filming perfect proposal they said it was for a new updated DCL show for the travel channel so that the surprise of the proposals would not be compromised....so....no new DCL show. All that filming was just for the perfect proposal show.

I was able to tape the last two episode when I had the DVR installed on Thursday. I would love to know when the episodes will be repeated and when the new Disney Cruiseline special will be on. It appears that they are going to show the 2003 version again this month. ::MickeyMo

Another vote for the Wed. couple.

While I would love to see another Travel Channel show I really loved the Perfect Proposal episodes as they showed a lot of other parts of the ship.

I was only able to take Tues, Wed. and Thursday's shows. We just sat this morning and watched them all! Now I wish I had seen Monday and Friday. They were so much fun and got us really revved for our August cruise! We all got teary eyed, but especially Wednesday's couple. We voted for them. The shows were great and I enjoyed seeing so much of the ship and Captain Tom. Yes, he looked a little uncomfortable, but I think he was also conscientious about giving the couple their own space. We've had him on two of our three cruises, and I know he will be on the August Repo cruise, and the couple of times we've talked to him he was great. He was our captain during our 7-day "Hurricane Frances" cruise that turned into a 10-day and he came down to the lobby several times to reassure all the passengers and answer our questions.

Anyway, I hope they repeat this series. It was a lot of fun.

I voted yesterday for Wednesday's couple. Thanks for providing the link Andy !! :Pinkbounc :bounce: Now I just want to add my 2 cents.........When we were married this past November at the heads up bar (Deck) on Castaway Cay they had that area roped off. In 99 percent of our pictures you would think we were the only ones on the Islands. Even when we wen't to other parts of the Island. People were watching us but from afar. People on Castaway were taking pictures of us.It didn't bother us........my kids got a kick out of it. Just because you didn't see them in the tape doesn't mean they weren't there. Just thought I mention it. Can't wait to see who wins. Tina

The winning couple of the $50,000 Perfect Proposal will be announced at 1:30pm today on the PP website, here is the link: http://tlc.discovery.com/fansites/perfectproposal/perfectproposal.html

I have PT today at 1:00, so I will have to check this out when I get home around 2:30 this afternoon. I had sent an e-mail to PP and I just received a reply form them a few minutes ago. I sent them a link about this thread on the DIS.

Andy,

Thanks for letting us know. I hope everyone enjoyed the shows as much as they enjoy Disney!
