View Full Version : Disney On Parade 1970's Arena Show
I understand there is footage available of the 1970's Disney On Parade Touring Show. (It was either released as a VHS tape or was shown on the Disney Channel) Most notably the first show with production numbers from Alice In Wonderland, Jungle Book, Goofy Comedy Car etc. If anyone knows of where I can obtain this footage it would be really most appreciated. http://www.geocities.com/nfb_418/DOPIndex.html

Hi
Dop I too am a huge fan of the disney on parade arena show which i saw when i was eleven years old, and was totally blow away by the whole experience.Have you had any luck finding anything? Kozmik in Australia.
Yes and no. No actual footage...except a very small piece on The Love Bug DVD, but the Disneyland Secrets, Stories and Magic DVD features a 1966 Disnleyland Christmas Parade. The parade features Pluto and his troop of dogs, Goofys comedy car and the Barnyard Bash from the 1971 DOP show. So I'm now guessing that most of the acts may have, at sometime, been done at Disneyland in previous years.

Hi Dop,
Thank you for your response, I have been a Disney Character Fan ever since Disney 0n parade came to Australia in 1971.I also have the program of the Alice Show and the Snow White Show that came over here the following year. I loved the oversized Character Heads in the show which they don’t make anymore because of health and safety issues, I prefer the old Costumes to the new ones at Disneyland they seem to have lost there magic. I have a color DVD of mini Disney on Parades Segments recorded in the States in the 1970’s if you would like a copy? I would love to swap with you if you have obtained the 1966 Disney Christmas Parade. I may also be able to obtain a Black and White version of The Alice in Wonderland Unit of Disney on Parade that was recorded in Australia and Telecast on Television for us if you’re interested?
Let me know your thoughts, I’m glad to help a fellow Disney Fan.
We could both benefit from our exchanges. Look forward in hearing from you
Kind Regards
KOZMIK.
Hey ther Kosmik!
I agree, re: the character heads, the Mad Hatter seems to have suffered the worst fate, losing his giant head completely. Most of the character heads seem to have only been modified slightly over the years. It can be a good and bad thing.
I would love to see the b/w Aussie footage of DOP (as I understand it was filmed in Adelaide of all places.)
Email me through the web site (in the first post) - if you have any problems replace the DOP with lower case.

Dear Dop,
Great to get your reply, I thought you left the country Ha ha.The Disney on Parade Arena show in Question was Filmed in Perth Western Australia.I have tracked down a teaser for u from the Snow white unit that followed the Previous Disney Show, it features all the characters on stage to help open the Perth entertainment center, I have an hour special of the opening featuring Disney rehearsals and tid bits of the Disney on Parade show as well as information on the state of the art Entetainment Centre. It’s a time capsual of Australia in the 1970's which you might find interesting? Its in glorious color and is in good condition.I can trade with you, what do u have? Hope we can work together and help each other. What part of the world are you? The link in the first email didnt work for me
