View Full Version : Is VB only for DVC members?

I called Disney reservations yesterday to reserve a room for 3 nights at Vero Beach. She told me that I would have to wait a few more weeks to make a ressie. That DVC members were given first priority. How hard is it to stay there if you are not a DVC member?

All DVC resorts are owned by the members. Disney holds a small percentage for their own use (rental or to allow for renovation), but until the DVC owners have had their opportunity to reserve there may be very limited availability for any cash reservations.

Some reservations are made available as members take advantage of the outside exchange opportunities of the program, but in general, the resort is NOT easily reserved by non-members until the owners have had their chance. (Usually not until 6 months in advance and in some cases- only within 60 days!)

If you enjoy the resort, you might want to consider a DVC membership.

Enjoy!

Winston, if you haven' t taken the tour of Vero yet, you might want to consider taking advantage of the vacation package they offer. Disney is very low pressure in their presentations and they may have these rooms available.

Thanks for the information. Do they ever offer these "magical vacation offers" during the summer months.

I'm not sure. I think they have. Anyone had any experience?

You may also consider renting points from a DVC owner to book a stay. Look at the DVC Rent/Trade bulletin board here.

Waitaminute Doc......

To say that the resort is owned by the members with a small percentage held by Disney Vacation Development, implies that the resort is sold out (point-wise)....

Unless something has changed recently (and it may well have, since I've not been as good about keeping up on the boards as I once used to be), Vero isn't sold out. Therefore, more than the standard percent is still owned by DVD and hence available for cash reservations.

So actually, you probably have a better chance of getting ressies at VB (unless they really are sold out) then you would at a DVC resort which is actually sold out (such as OKW & BWV) - but even these sold-out resorts it's still not impossible to get cash ressies, and I recall seeing situations where cash ressies were available when point ressies weren't.

The 'ol Firefighter is correct as usual!

VB is not yet sold out (neither is HH), but is approaching 75% sold. The developer does have more availability at these resorts than at OKW and BWV. At some times of the year (usually winter months at VB) the rooms do get reserved quickly. In this case, the developer rooms may already be reserved and any further availability would have to come from unused member inventory.

Another possibilty is that since VB is having an increase in sales activity, the developer has declared more rooms into member inventory for use in anticipation of more sales- so the result is the same- no current cash availability at VB. This certainly occurs at HH in the summer also.
