Tomarrow I have my first ever solo/ensamble festival. I play viola. I am haveing trouble on my eb major and my e major scale, and I have to shift into third and second position on some of the scales. I am scared. I know there isn't anything to be afraid of, but still it is a little frighteneing. :cool1:

You're right there isn't anything to be worried about! I have my S.E.M.B.S.A audition for chorus next Saturday! I'm a little frightened because our choral teacher didn't give us the music until today! And I got put into the soprano section, when I'm supposed to be an alto! But oh well.....I'll live.....somehow....ha ha lolz well good luck and I'm sure you'll do great. Just imagine that you're by yourself practicing. Or in your band practice (if you have one.) well lots of luck and I wish you the best!

i also had the solo and ensemble fest today! my friend plays the clarinet so we did a flute/clarinet duet. We got a 1 but our judge wasn't too impressed.....he said it was way too easy for us, boring to listen to, and we should definitely pick a different one for states. We played an easy grade 4 piece, but because we didn't think we'd have a lot of time to practice. Which we didn't. But we bought the advanced book so we can learn a new one for states.

I am totally new to this... do you play something different for the state thing, or the same thing? Is it at the same place? Do you get more information by your band/orchestra teacher? I have no clue. :confused3

Gee, that's kind-of mean.

I have it in March. I have to pay $13 to be in it. Me and my friends are playing the flute in it.

Solo and Ensomble is so much fun! you get lots of experience, and lots of advice! I'm gonna be in my fourth on Feb. 12th....With my ensomble, and im excited! Every year i earn a 1 or a 2 on my solo, and a 1 or a 2 on my ensomble, but this year im not doing a solo. I always compete in A or AA classes.....im kinda nervous, considering im the only soprano in the ensomble, and there are 2 mezzo's, 3 altos, 2 tenors, and 2 bass's.....Im the only one on a part! yikes! but good luck to you! It will be an awesome experience!
