I realize that most of these resorts are/have been closed for renovation due to the fall storms. Does anyone know when they are scheduled to be back up and running? I am especially curious about May. ::MickeyMo

most of the 7 hotels in DD are up - the only one who isn't Royal Plaza is not going to be a hotel when it reopens.

plus there is the new SSR (WDW hotel)

of course most of the time the value resorts can be cheaper than any of these.

Uh, I'm in regular contact with the staff at Royal Plaza and it most definitely will be a hotel when it reopens, which they expect to occur in July 2005!

The former Courtyard by Marriott (which most recently was a Holiday Inn), another of the 7 DTD hotels, has been closed since October 2004 and I've heard no announcements about it reopening.

Other than that, the other 5 hotels are open and had minimal damage that was long ago repaired.

We have stayed at The Holiday Inn several times and were treated very well. I hope they reopen soon as this has to be hard on their staff. They are really nice people.

Mary you have one of the best websites!

not to long ago when Royal Plaza was first brought - there were rumors that it would be suities only - not hotel rooms - I am very glad that is just a rumor!

what happen to the Holiday Inn?

Lots of hurricane damage. I drove by after the first hurricane and the Holiday Inn had lost a ton of roof tiles. Apparently the second hurricane caused them to lose even more. That led to a lot of interior water damage, from what I've been told.

The Holiday Inn was way overdue for a renovation anyway, in my opinion. Hopefully it will reopen with everything fixed up.
