Which non-Disney hotels do you love to hate? Which ones should newbies avoid and why? Inquiring minds want to know!

Hi! When we planned our trip to Disney, I was advised not to stay at any Days Inn in Orlando because it's gone down, also I was told by 4 people not to stay at Travel Lodge Maingate However, on the positive, we highly recommend Holdiay Inn Family Suites! We just returned, it's a nice hotel with great accomodations. We also got a good rate.
Good Luck!

Knights Inn is worse than you can imagine (entire chain is rated dead last) by Consumers Reports.
If you post your budget and how many (and ages) of your family I'm sure you'll get some specific suggestions.

Days Inn Maingate East is awful. It was dirty, our curtains fell off the window, and the staff was rude. Thank God we only stayed on arrival night.

I had reservations at the Days Inn at Old Town back in 1999, posted on THIS board about it and got some HORRENDOUS reviews. I cancelled the same day!

Something told me that the rate was too low to be believed...

I have to agree do NOT stay at the Days Suites by Old Town!! Stayed there on arrival night. My husband would not even sleep under the covers.
