ok I use amex points to pay for car rental. I made my ressies with budget in Dec and of course as murphy's law would have it AMex no longer has bugdget in their rewards as of Jan 1st. I noticed this when I went to request a voucher with my points.
So what I need from you guys is the cheapest codes for either Hertz, Avis or Enterprise. We are traveling Feb 13th to the 18th. Thanks guys :)
With budget I got a rate of $135 after taxes for those days economy car :( I am bummed !

I think that rate ($135) is pretty good for this time of year. Hertz was well over $200 even with a AAA disount. Check www.mousesavers.com for lots of codes for rentals. I checked Budget with a Wal-Mart code and came up with $132 for an economy and $142 for an intermediate. (total cost)
What are you looking to pay?

Well I am the queen of discounting and I want to cash in the coupon voucher I can get with my membership rewards points and budget is no longer affiliated with amex so I cannot use the code. I really want the $135 ish for either Hertz, enterprise or avis because those are the companies I can get the voucher for.. I have such a headache from this LOL

I was in the same boat. I was looking forward to using my 17,000 points for National on my Mar 30 trip. Now I see that I can't and since Avis is the only one that I have any kind of preferred status with I checked with them. Well the midsize rate with the appropriate codes for a weekly rental with all fees included is about $300 plus. Take away the $175 I would get with points, comes to about the same price I am getting currently with National. So don't feel bad, I feel like I am getting hosed too. Incedentally, I have stopped using my AMEX alot since I found out about the removal of most of the car companies.

That rate of $135 is pretty competitive. Using the Walmart code [ (BCD): W810011] it went down to $132.
Are you a member or Costco or BJ's Wholesale Clubs? The rate at Costco was about $10 less, and there is a coupon offered to bring it down a little more. I didn't try BJ's this time, but I have found their rate is usually the same as Costco. If you are not a member, that isn't enough of a discount to offset the membership fee.

With some of the agencies the AMEX vouchers can only be used with high non-discounted rates. Do a search there have been a number of people who said using AMEX points for car rentals is a very bad deal.

National would let you stack discounts so that with emerald club and entertainment coupons we would get our car for $40 for 8 days and 10 days was $60 after taxes total cash out of pocket. It looks like now we will be charging all of our purchases to Disney card at least to get the disney dollars.
