Do you have to stay on property to go to the campfire?

I have a friend that may be going to WDW in June hoewever, they may stay off property :scared1: LOL She is thinking of going to HDDR 1 night and I told her about the campfire program etc. Is it O.K. for them to join in or do they need to be staying on property?

Never saw any rules that stated you must be staying on property.
