As of March 1st 40 challengers have reported a loss of 207 pounds!!! Way to go everyone!!!
MickeySP and mickmse have BLOWN the top off of our challenge!! Great job!! (I think I may have to change my user name to mick-something! LOL)
18 of the challengers met the 5 pound goal
22 more of us are entering March lighter than we started February!

This past week 16 challengers lose 42.75 pounds! !! Keep posting your loses!!

Count me in again! I didn't make it for January, but 3 lbs was better than nothing, especially with the lack of diet and exercise I had been getting before!
Feb. will not be easy either, with my Patriots in the SuperBowl, my b-day, DD's b-day, Valentine's Day (no chocolate, please!) and Speedweeks (which means racetrack concession food more often than not), however, I'll do my best!
19 lbs to go til I reach my goal! If I can do 5 this month, I'll be on my way!!!

Here it is.. the first of February and I already feel like I fell off the wagon!! :(
I took my son to his chess club, held at a local pizza place, last night. The manager came out and asked if we wanted a pizza that was made but cancelled. Well of course we said Yes!
It was about 8pm and there I am. Already had eaten dinner, but just couldn't resist the temptation. It had been probably about 3 weeks since I ate anything big and heavy after 7... but I just pigged out!!
Well now I am suffering for it. My stomach still aches from that stinky pizza (which tasted heavenly!). :ache:
I guess I have learned a lesson....Stop at ONE slice!!!

Well, that was LAST month, today is a whole new day & a whole new month! Those temptations are really hard.
Are we supposed to weigh ourselves today? I ask because I am part of the 'Stay off the scale challenge' and have only been weighing myself on Saturdays. I think I will just start out with my Sat weight from this week (the 5th) and go from there.
Gl to everyone and remember that old WW mantra 'If you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got!". Hope this month brings great rewards from what we'll do right!

I would like to join this one also please!! I joined the January challenge but ended up GAINING in the end!! Today is a new day....February 1st...fresh start! :sunny:
So since I ended up , well UP in January.....I am going to re-commit and try for 5 in February....well actually more.
I know the key for me is the darn EXCERCISE ....so if I can get moving....the healthy eating usually follows and so do the numbers on the scale!!!

Oh I totally understand! I would have probably done the same thing. I am working SO hard on trying to control my intake. Not so much what I eat, but trying not to eat so much of it.
As you eat smaller portions, I have found that after about 3 weeks you are use to it and won't feel hunger pains, AND if you over eat, you will pay for it the next day with an upset stomach. But if you continue to do that over and over you will once again be able to eat a lot (and start feeling hungry quicker). It really is a balance that can be so easily upset.

The clippie helps remind me all the time to not lose track of my monthly goal.
I tried WISH last year and wasn't able to 'get into it'. But this 5 pound challenge has been great for me. I'm so excited for my next weigh in next week. I hope to have a lose to post!

I weighed Tuesday morning for the 1st times in about 6 months in preparation for this challenge :earseek: . Was not happy! I have gained about 20 pounds in the last year. Anyway, I have been very good this week exercising and watching what I eat and weighed again this morning and was down a little already.

Hi everyone! I have started my own "challenge" within a challenge!!
I have challenged myself to drink more water.. LOTS more water!! I have been reading that you should drink half your weight in oz of water every day. Holy cow!! That is alot of water for me. I am supposed to drink 91.5oz (I am currently 183) of water every day. I have been going for 9 cups of water, only 72 oz though, each day since the beginning of Feb. I have been feeling better, and don't eat as much through out the day.
Today I am going to try to get up to the 12 glasses! I have incorporated a reward system for myself that my kids are helping with.
I made a picture of a glass and printed "8 oz of water" in the middle of it. I printed 9 glasses out in blue cardstock and put a piece of magnet tape on the back of each one. I hang them on the side of the fridge until I drink 8oz.
Then I let one of the kids move a glass to the front of the fridge. They are loving keeping track of my water intake! It helps me b/c it's a visual reminder of what I have done and how many more to go. I made 3 "bonus" glasses which bring me up to my official intake of 96 oz.
Like I said before, I haven't earned them yet, but I will be trying for them today. I have drank 7 glasses already today, so I think I will be successful!! :)
Two of my kids now want me to make glasses for them to track their water too!
If anyone else wants to join me on this challenge Please do!! I don't have to be the only one swimming in February, LOL!

Well I took a couple days off from working out, but still stuck to my good eating habits and drank lots of water. I guess it payed off because I weighed myself today and I already lost a pound:) This 5 for February challege is awesome!!

Hi everyone!!
I weighed myself this morning and am up 1/2 pound. :(
Eventhough I am up, I am ok with it... .for this week! I had that horrible day last Monday at DS chess club, and then we went to Disney On Ice last night.. where I ate too much stale old popcorn and cotton candy!! Then with the Super Bowl last night I had two pieces of pizza. Two too many pieces!!
Now I just have to work a little harder this week to get it back down.
Everyone keep up the hard work and weigh in when you're ready!!
PS. I think that I need to join the stay off the scale challenge.. I just can't stay away from it!!!!!

I should have said that was for 2 weeks (I didn't weigh in last week). I got my 10 pound ribbon today, so that was nice. I have so far to go though, that it is hard to get 'excited'. BUT I am working on 5 pounds a month, and just trying to 'stick to it'.

I can say that this weight loss has been the only upside of my problems with DH. It has put my body under such stress. Now, I need to focus on toning this body of mine... time to dig out the Bowflex!

Thought this would be easier, considering I have a TON to lose. I am glad the challenge is for 5 pounds and not 10. Otherwise I would be feeling overwhelmed and more discouraged.

I am sooo happy to report that I am at 181 this morning. I started February off at 184 so that puts me at 3/5. I have really been feeling better since I have gotten back on the treadmill and I know that exercise is a big key to my losing.
Keep up the great work everyone. We can do this and lose even more this month as a group than we did last month.

Due to a combo of a really bad haircut and eating well and excercising, I lost another 2 pounds!! That makes me 3/5 for the challenge!! Wow, I'm way ahead of schedule on this!
Well I'm down another 1.8 pounds this week for a total of 3.8/8 for the challenge. I only have one more week for this challenge, so I won't make my goal, but would like to be down a total of 5, so I need to lose 1.2 pounds by next week.
I am such a LOSER!!! I was suppose to post this in the Valentine's Day challenge :( sorry.........

According to weight watchers, I lost 6.6 lbs. this week.
I had gained 9 lbs. over the holidays, going from my low of 189 to 198. Now I'm down to 191.1. I hope that by the end of the month I will be below my 189.

My first WI of the month was today. Down .6 . Hopefully will be more next week as this MIGHT be TOM for me. I've stayed totally OP this last week and even exercised on my elliptical 20 min/day, so hopefully that will begin to help soon!!

I am going to knock my hubby in the head if he comes home with Wendy's, or pizza again!!
He has done this to me three times this week!!!! AGHHH!
Now, he knows that I am working hard during the day to watch what I eat, and then he brings that yummy tasting and smelling food in the house!
And I just don't have the will power to NOT eat any of it!
This morning he said "You are looking good. I can tell that you're losing weight" I replied "Not this week! I am sure the scale will be going up!!"

It's my own fault... haven't exercised much at all, and DH has worked late every night this month... so meals tend to be on the run or not as healthy as they should be. Plus, it's Speedweeks here, so diet and exercise go by the wayside, in favor of racing.

Please don't give up, you have too many people cheering you on. Things may not always go as planned, but if you can get back on track as quickly as possible, you will feel so much better. Everyone doesn't lose at the same pace and you might have had water retention when you did your WI. You could have eaten something that had a lot of sodium in it that would have had you retaining fluid.
I'm begging you not to give up. You can do this along with everyone else. I have true faith that you can. Start thinking positive thoughts. I'm sending :wizard: your way to help you feel better. I'm also :cheer2: you on. YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!!

Thank you Tammy! I am not going to give up, I'm just really frustrated right now. I stayed on program perfectly and exercised 5 of 7 days last week and I gained. :confused3
I told myself before I went to weigh in that if I stayed the same it would be OK, but I did not talk to myeslf about gaining. Guess I should have. My clothes seem looser that should be all that matters, unfortunately that is not the case.
Next week will be better.

I just did my WI and it wasn't anything to jump up and down about, but I did lose .5 of a pound. That puts me at 3.5/5. I was feeling real puffy today, I think I had too much salt yesterday. Oh well, that is the way it goes, at least I went down some.

My kids have been begging to make one and I have been putting it off b/c I don't want to be tempted like I am. Well I realized that I shouldn't punish them because I can't make good decisions.
So here I am.....I did take a taste off of the knife after cutting them all a piece. You know, the left over frosting on it. But I DID NOT get myself a piece! I am going to have to make good decisions for myself here.
I just needed to get away from the kitchen and put my mind back in the right place.. with my February 5 Buddies.

Oh that it a tough one for me too, chocolate cake. As long as I don't eat the first piece, I'm okay. One is never enough for me.
Chocolate cake is really yucky anyway. Brown is NOT a good color for food. ;)

Hi good ol gal. I know how haaaaarrrd it is not to eat choc cake. Would a 2x2" piece work? This past w/e I baked like mad for my daughter in college. 80 cookies, 24 cupcakes, 16 brownies. I am doing ww so I chose 1 cupcake and 1 brownie for separate days. 6 and 5 points! Kinda high but I did not eat 4 brownies 3 cupcakes and a dozen cookies t/o the day. It worked this time, why, I don't know. It doesn't always work. I'm starting to lose so I will continue to work the program. Sending you good wishes. :sunny:

I have to admit to eating a few pieces of candy that my kids brought home from their Valentine's Day party at school. This is a hard time, but now we have a few weeks before EASTER sneaks up on us (and more yummy candy).
At least the candy is all gone now! Chocolate cake does sound SO good! But I will have it on my cruise in March 2006 with my new skinny body that I will have in just 13 more months (I hope!).

Thanks for all the encouragement everyone!! It really did help me. I held off and am feeling good in my decision not to eat a piece today.
Maybe if I want one I can have it tomorrow at lunch so I can have all day to burn those calories off, and not have them camp out for months to come lol!
And if I do choose to have one, it will be a nice small piece like you suggested Keokagal. I am lucky with homeschooling, no class parties with all the treats brought home.

LOL! I hadn't thought of that! We homeschooled our girls through 4th grade, and only put them in school this past October.
Actually, for me, it has helped having the kids out of the house all day. Seeing them eat 'good' stuff made it hard for me to resist. I am doing better being home by myself.....but those parties can make it hard. I doubt that they have another one until the end of the year, so maybe I am safe for awhile. :rolleyes:

I am thrilled that I made my goal for the month (and we still have 10 more days)! I won't be weighing in again until March though, so I hope we have a March Challenge too!
I'm excited, but I feel like I still have such a LONG way to go (need to still lose 45 pounds).
I hope to lose another 15-20 before our trip in June, and I would LOVE to see the rest of it gone before our next cruise in March 2006.
So I guess it is onward and downward for me too!

Hi guys,
I'm so sorry I haven't checked in on the February challenge. I've been having some weight issues. Mainly it's the 2.5 pound gain I found myself at on Monday. I made a decision that I was going to do something about it before it got out of hand, especially considering I wasn't cheating on my program. I had read about Oprah's 12 week boot camp challenge and joined. Well I'm happy to report that not only do I have my weight loss focus and determination back, but I'm down 4.5 pounds from Monday's weight as of this morning! This is a great but tough program and I'm so glad I decided to take the plunge and participate. I am now down below my signature weight and at 99.5 pounds lost I'm just 1/2 pound away from my 100 pound clippie. I won't claim any of this weight loss until Sunday on official weigh in day.
I want to say a special great big thanks to Good Ol Gal for taking the reigns and doing such a wonderful job with the February lose 5 challenge. Congrats to all the big losers this month! Hopefully, I'll be back Sunday with a loss that sticks!

All righty, I seem to be in a holding pattern. I had gained some this month, and this morning, I think that the scale said that I was back where I started the month. (Darn thing read something different every time that I stepped on it--6 times!)
So, I have a week to make sure that I DON'T gain! I have a week for the Whoosh fairy to come and WHOOSH 5 pounds :rotfl: or I have a week to say to heck with it.
I choose # 1! (Well, #2 would be great, but I have better WISHes to make.)

Hi guys,
I'm making my first reported loss for the month. After 1 week on Oprah's challenge I'm down 6 pounds! That's the good news. Unfortunately, I was up 2.5 pounds from my loss in January so I am claiming the difference as my loss so far for the month which would be 3.5 pounds so I'm 3.5/5 which I'm just thrilled with it considering I was either maintaining or gaining (which is never a good thing when you're trying to lose weight) this month.
We've got one more week to make it so I wish everyone the best! Thanks so much Good Ol Gal for keeping track for all of us. You're awesome!

Hi, guys! Well, the scale was a bit inconsistent this morning, but the "majority" of readings read down 1.5 bringing me to 5/5 for February so far, with one week to go! I have to tell you, though, the inches are certainly dropping! I have already dropped a pant size, even though I have only lost 9 pounds total since 1/17/05.

Hey all.
I am down 4.5 for this month. That makes me 5.5/5.
I am psyched and a little scared. I have never lost that much in one week and am fearful it will pop back up.
Although I have been doing pretty well for 3 weeks with only a 1 lost until now.
I have been really watching food (following Dr. Phil as for protein,etc per day) and not eating after 7:30.
I have got to add the exercise so I can keep loosing.
Your posts really help to keep me motivated.
I'll post again on Sat. for the month as I go to Daytona for a Conference next week. I am going to call the Conference and make sure I signed up for lowfat meals so I can stay on target.
I do get to spend Sun afternoon shopping at Downtown Disney. I can hardly wait for that part of the week.

I did my WI this morning and I am the same as last week. Still at 180.5 so that puts me at 3.5/5 for the month so far. I am really going to try hard the next week and hopefully I can lose the 1.5 to meet the challenge. I will do my next WI on Monday the 28th (last day of challenge).
Way to go everyone, I have to say that it is great that we are still willing to come to the thread and post even when we gain or don't lose. That means that we are serious about wanting to get healthy.
I do hope that we do this again in March. I think that the incentive helps a lot and then there is so much motivation and inspiration on the thread.

I am down another pound this week. That puts me at 3/5. I am really going to try to lose that 2 pounds before March 1st! Just losing one pound a week is frustrating, but I guess I should look at the bigger picture. If I keep losing a pound a week, I will be at my goal in 23 weeks (or approximately 6 months).

Weighed in today. Down 2.8! that makes it 9.6 for the month...WooHoo...now, I just need to not gain it all back at disneyland the next 2 weekends and attending a conference during the week. My first challenge without having my food to cook for 10 days. YIKES.

Reporting today because I head to Daytona tomorrow for a Conference. I do get to spend tomorrow afternoon at Downtown Dis. (Yeah)
I have lost another 1/2 pound. So that makes me 6 for the month.
I am happy. This board keeps me on track.

Two more days to go in February!!! The totals have been updated.. if you haven't posted your 3rd week losses you can still do!
I will update again this past week. I know that some of us have WI days on Mondays/Wednesdays, etc. I will do the final update on Friday, March 4th to give everyone time to post their final WI for February!!
We had 53 challengers sign-up at the beginnning of the challenge and so far 39 of us have reported a loss in February!! Great job everyone! :)
I hope that we can do this again in March. Anyone want to take a turn running it?

:wave2: Thanks, Elizabeth for doing this. Well, no WHOOOSH for me, but at least I did lose (most of) what I had gained back, so I guess that I will count this as a maintenance month :rolleyes: Can't see where even a pound will be lost by tomorrow. [sigh]
Ah, well, I'm considering the fact that I had a lot of Real Life happenings this month, and as a result, I am totally exhausted. As the snow melts (it WILL do that, right???) I'm hoping to get back to my walking. Curves is more on track-even though this week I only made it once- and our eating is getting better since DH has been to the dietician for his diabetes.
So, I'm disappointed, but I can live with the results of my month. Thanks again! :flower:

I just did my WI and after last week, wasn't sure that I'd make it. I really buckled down last week and thankful that I did. I got on the scale and it said 179.0. I got off and on three different times to make sure and it kept coming to that number. So I did make my goal for the month and I am so happy so I was 5/5 for the month of February.
I can't wait until March, if I can just continue to lose at least 5 pounds a month, I will be very happy.
Way to go everyone on your great reports this morning. Keep up the great work. I haven't checked the boards yet, I hope there will be another challenge in March. These challenges are keeping me motivated.

Is anyone up for another Lose 5 in March challenge? I know the St. Patty's Day challenge is going on, but it could be done in conjunction with a March one. I didn't have internet access for over a week (I'm back now!) but I lost 9 lbs. total for the month of February :banana:
