I ordered my DDE card and was told like others that it would not arrive in time for our vacation. I was emailed a letter to use, but today my card came in the mail! I was excited to have the card, but now I have a question.....
I thought I read the card was good for a party of up to 10 people. The info that came with the cards definitely state for up to a party of 6. Does anyone know what the correct number is? We are going with extended family :grouphug: and figured it would not pay for more than one of us to get a card, but if it only covers for up to six, we maybe should rethink it.....Any information would be greatly appreciated!

I just checked the DIScounts section and it says good for up to parties of 10. I've also seen it say 10 in other places, too, like allears, etc.

I believe they recently changed it from 6 to 10. Maybe they did not update their enclosure.

Is the DDE Card available to DVC owners or just AP holders?
Thanks,
Andy

Yes, it is available to us, also. But you must also have an AP.

Does DDE membership give you advanced booking priveliges for Food & Wine events?
If so, how do you get advanced notice before you get your membership?
I ask, because I plan to attend during Food & Wine at the end of October 2005 and beginning of October 2006. I am timing my vacations to fit both vacations onto a single Annual Pass which won't run until I arrive so I won't be eligable for the DDE card until the day I arrive at WDW.
Can you purchase the DDE card with just a voucher for an AP that hasn't yet been exchanged for the AP itself?
Can I pick up the DDE card on site (or have it delivered to my hotel rather than my home) if they won't let me buy one until my AP is validated?

There have been posts that they are allowing a DDE purchase with a voucher or even the promise to buy one. You cannot pickup the DDE onsite but they will e-mail or fax a confirmation letter that you can use immediately. There have been posts where people had the letter faxed to the front desk of their resort.

I do not know if DDE gives advance booking for food and wine events but
DDE holds seperate events every month.
Example in Jan there was an event at Le Cellier and in Feb there is an event at Jiko.

The DDE sends out a monthly newsletter (snail mail). If you are lucky, you will receive the newsletter with the info about the F&W events prior to Disney taking reservations. My experience is that you will not get the newsletter in advance. Last F&W I did get the newsletter the day the ressies opened.

I was able to purchase my DDE card, with very few questions asked. I did tell the CM that we would not officially have our AP until we were at Disney, but the CM did not seem to care. She was more concerned with getting my email verification out to me before our trip.
It sounds like the enclosure has not been updated to state parties of up to 10. We will get our money's worth out of it just for our dinner at O'hana's. I figure everything after that is just a bonus! Disney is smart doing this........We have planned 3 extra sit down meals just because we can now get the discount!
Is the DDE Card available to DVC owners or just AP holders?
Thanks,
AndyIt's now open to all, just that AP holders get the discount.

Dean....... the newest news on this is that it is NOT open to all. Apparently, the DDE CM's were "confused" when this first became available to APer's and were mistakenly telling people as well as selling them to people that were not FL residents or APers. They have now been told that this is only for FL residents and APers. Those who did purchase the DDE that did not fall under either of those two catgories will be allowed to use the card for this year only.
There was a post about this a few days ago where someone sent an e-mail and had a phone conversation with the person in charge of DDE and the above is what they were told. I will try to find the thread and post a link to it.

Can you let us know your time frame from ordering the card to receipt? I ordered mine 6 weeks before we leave for WDW, and I am hoping it arrives in time. I have received the e-mail, but I read on another thread to bring multiple copies because some of the restaurants are keeping the memo for proof of the 20% discount. I don't really want to carry copies of this memo around with me at WDW.
thanks!

I just returned from WDW and used my emailed letter every day. I brought severeal copies of the letter and not once was I asked if they could keep it. I was also never asked for ID.
YMMV
Since I havent recieved my actual cards yet, I can not comment on 6 vs 10 people, as we only had 6.

Thanks Laura - good to know. Since our up-coming trip is 8 days, I have printed off 16 copies of the e-mail (potential 2 per day) and I paired them up with the list of restaurants for DDE ..... and I am starting to carry too much paper with me for a vacation!! :rotfl2:

I think 16 copies is overkill, but better to have and not need than need and not have.
We used ours at 50's, Ohana, Coral Reef, Cape May, LTT, and a couple of more that are escaping me now. Oh Capt Jacks.... The card more than paid for itself and then some. :cool1:

I was just on the phone with DDE. Their hold message said "you and 9 guests" may get the discount. The magic number is 10.
Oh and BTW. They wouldn't let me get the DDE card with just an AP purchase confirmation. I guess I should have called earlier while they where still confused.
