Hi Guys!
I am happy to report I did indeed finish my first 5K...dead last! LOL. That's ok, at least I finished! There were only about 20 runners, and other than me and dh, they all looked like runners. Although this was a YMCA sponsored event, it really seemed like we joined a private running club for their race.
I basically ran by myself the entire way. When I came in (over 10 minutes after everyone else) they all clapped. I started crying, I was so emotional that I had kept going alone. I never stopped to walk, I jogged or ran as fast I I could the entire way. I was just so far behind everyone else, it didn't seem like I was in the race.
I have a long way to go before I'm ready for the Disney Half in January, but I am on my way!

Maria, I am SO proud of you for finishing. Especially under such difficult circumstances!! You are doing awesome.
My weekend was pretty good... Habitat on Saturday, then today we did the water park. Right now is a bit of bonding with the chaise lounge and laptop!

Maria, I am so impressed that you were able to finish the race. I probably would have quit but you had the courage to finish. YOu should be very proud of yourself.:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Hi Ladies!
Kat -- It sounds like you are having a blast! I would love to go to a water park right about now! I'm lime green with envy::yes::
Dona -- Thanks for the support! I hadn't thought about what it might be like to be running alone -- I thought there would be many more people in the race, and I never dreamed I would be so far behind the pack. I guess it was a good reality check! :thumbsup2
Wendy -- I hope you had a wonderful trip, and you are relaxed and enjoying your summer.
Where are our Michel(l)es? We miss you guys! Let us know how you are doing!
So, how are we doin' guys? I think the scale is betraying me. I feel better, I think I look better, but I'm not seeing a big loss. Hopefully that means I'm gaining some muscle.
I know I'm eating less now that I'm writing it all down on Sparkpeople. I guess I just have to give myself a few weeks to adjust, and hopefully by the end of this month, I'll have lost a total of 10 lbs. I'm not overly optimistic today, but I want to see how things shake out at the end of this week.
Everyone have a fantastic day!

I weighed this morning and I am down to 192.6. That is a total loss of 25.4 lbs since Feb 6th, 8.4 since I started WISH, 6.2 since I returned from my WDW trip (which found a few lost lbs). I am hoping to make my Sept 7th goal of 170.
Worfie, I love sparkpeople. So much easier than fitday! I have gotten a bit addicted to points, too. Personally, I think that it takes at least a week or two for hard work to pay off. Sort of like a paycheck... you work and THEN you get paid.
I have really gotten hardcore since we restarted on May 25, after our 2 weeks off that included WDW. I have been staying around 1100-1200 calories, working out like a fiend, and being sure to drink at least 80-120 oz of water. Not even one cheat!
We are planning a cheat night of June 23rd, starting at 4PM we can eat and drink whatever we want until the next morning (which is SURE to include a hangover!).

I am in! My goal is to get to 155 and then re-evaluate. I am almost 5'9" and I just not sure what a good goal weight is. I have always been, ummmmm, busty, but I am weaning my DS and I am not sure how things will change.
One year ago today I weighed 230 pounds and gave birth to DS#2. I can not believe my baby is now 1! And I can not believe I weigh the same as I did when I got pregnant with him, I was really hoping to lose this weight before his first birthday. Oh well, I can't turn back time, I just have to move forward.
Christy
I am 5'9 1/2 and 155 is where I want to be. I find I look too thin below 155.

Maria! Wonderful you finished! That is great! You must be so proud of yourself! Wow!
I had a great weekend. Followed diet except for the ice cream and the chocolate covered rice crispie treat. I did walk about 6 hours. Ok, maybe 3, but my legs thought it was 6! DD had a nice time. Played in the pool, played mini-golf, and window shopped. DS stayed home as he was taking his grandmother this past sunday to meet some of her siblings. They had a great time. DS did pretty good while we were gone. I am glad. I always have a hard time thinking of him as an 18 yr old.
Not much going on. Walking outside still. TM not fixed. Well, it is very nice at night, and if there are bugs, ie mosqitoes, I move all the faster. It was 90 today, and too hot to walk before sundown anyhow.
Once again, Great job Maria!

Good Morning
Just a quick post before I start my day. We have our last day of school today and it will be a long one. We have short classes and then our last exam (I only have 6 in there because the seniors in that class took it last week) then I have to finish cleaning my room and go to graduation at 4:30. Check out is tomorrow.
Eating has been awful this week. I am still getting over another sinus infection and the hives on top of that. I am on a bunch of medications and my sleeping is way off. I can't get to sleep at night and when I do it is not great. I have ended up taking a nap every afternoon this week. I don't know what I am going to do today:rotfl: :rotfl: Maybe sleep through graduation.
Next week should be better.
Better get going now. I have too many papers to sort and file.
Have a great day everyone

Hi Ladies!
I have had a rough week. DH has been in a class all week, which meant I had to get ds to school, then an hour of subway/walking to get to work, then the reverse to pick up ds, then make dinner, homework, etc. I am worn out!
DH is also exhausted, and ds is adjusting to the end of school. He was stunned when he came home with a reading list for the summer. He's starting 4th Grade next year, and he's never been asked to complete anything over the summer before. I think it's wonderful. I was very happy that his new teacher also sent home a list of supplies. I'd much rather know what he needs and be able to buy it before school starts. I have a good feeling that although this is a stricter teacher, the kids are going to really learn alot. I'm excited that she is this organized.
Anway, I have not been eating well for the past 4 days, and I have only kept up my crunches and push-ups. I really need a good cardio workout. I'm planning to get back on track tomorrow. I am off next Tuesday and Wednesday (camp doesn't start for another week, and the kids didn't use any snow days, so we all have a week to fill), so I know I will be able to thoughtfully get back into eating and working out appropriately.
Dona -- I hope your last day and graduation went well. It is really hard to focus with so much going on. Let yourself recover and transition, and you will get right back into feeling better!:goodvibes
Wendy -- I'm sure you're enjoying those outdoor walks. I love to be outside for my run/walks. I never thought I'd say that, but it is much more enjoyable than the TM. Who knew?! :rotfl2:
DragnFly -- Welcome! I hope this thread will be helpful for you!:thumbsup2
Kat -- You are doing great! I love the "cheat" idea. Maybe I will try to plan one of those for the future, to keep my eating in check!:upsidedow
I hope everyone enjoys celebrating Father's Day tomorrow. Remember, it's their day to indulge, not ours!:lmao:

Happy Father's Day everyone.
Trying to get back on track. Today is my last day of prednisone. Friday was my last day of the antibiotic and this morning I have been coughing more than I should and I feel a bit wheezy. I am taking my vitamins and extra vitamin C. Let's hope it helps. I don't want to be sick all summer.
Dh just went to visit his dad. We almost got him tickets to see Kenny ROgers who is playing not far from dfil's house but when they want $225 a ticket I think that is out. I will call my dad later and we will go see him and my mom on Wed after ds get's outt of school. He has his last exam on Wed and then goes back on Thursday to play in the band for graduation . Ds is studying for his finals today so I couldn't see going to visit relatives and having him either stay home or not have a chance to study.
Welcome drag n' fly This thread has been pretty quiet the last few weeks but I think that will pick up as some end of the year obligations finish up.
Maria That sounds great about your ds's teacher for next year. My ds1 had a very demanding teacher in 5th grade but it was the year that he learned the most out of any year and that includes high school. It was the best thing that ever happened to him. DS2 had a demanding one in 6th grade and really blossomed. He is right now studying for his English exam and it is only 10AM on Sunday morning. He plans to spend the day studying other subject for the the rest of his exams.
Tomorrow is my first day of summer vacation. I think I hae to go back to school and talk to someone who has not been talking to me for the last couple of weeks. I think I need to clear the air about something and let her know where I am coming from.
Have a great day and will be back soon

Another drive by, my friends.
Sparkpeople is really helping me, but boy is it time consuming...
I walked to "Music & Lyrics" yesterday. Cute movie. I ran for 45 minutes this morning on the TM. I've been doing a better job of eating, but I still need to get in more fruits and veggies and fewer carbs. Eventually, I will hit on the right mix.
So, is everyone enjoying summer vacation now? All the kiddies out of school? I hope all of our 150s Club teachers are enjoying a well-earned rest!
I'm going to weigh again June 30th. I really have to work myself up to it. I know that sounds crazy, and once I get into a regular pattern of weighing again I laugh at myself for being so timid. I allow the scale to have far too much power, but at least I recognize my weakness...
Everyone have an awesome evening, and let's get posting!

Hello everyone!
Life is going so fast! I just finished an 8 day, 80 hour run with work. I am tired, but still working on my walks and watching my food. It helps that I did lose half of what I gained on my crazy work schedule. It isn't much better right now. Lost another manager and one is on maternity leave. And we are getting so close to Summer Celebration, which is the big thing they do here in the summer, with 10 days of concerts, midways, and such. And 2 days with fireworks, the 4th and the last day of the celebration. We are very busy during this time, and I am working 3 to midnight during all of it. It runs fromthe 28th to the 8th. Yikkes. I will certainly miss my family thru it all. Although I do have the 1 and 2 off for DD's 11th birthday. We are having that tea party. Friend is making petite fours, so we can control the sugar and such in it. The weather looks like it will be great and we can do it in the back yard.
It seems it is time to see what else is needed. DD is flagging here, guess she is tired, but she has been doing LOTS of exercising with her dieting. She is doing so well. She has a goal of 10 pounds by August. Pretty reasonable. I know she will be able to do it.
Off and running. I hear the dryer!

Hi Everyone!
I hope you are doing great. It would be wonderful to hear from more of you (hint, hint)!
I walked to an episode of Stargate, so I had 60 minutes of cardio today. I also did my crunches, pushups, and few other strength exercises.
Tomorrow I plan to ride the bike and work with weights.
Tomorrow night I am consciously throwing a party in my mouth. It's the final episode of Stargate, and I'm going out in style. Baked Cheetos, Dark chocolate covered raisins, popcorn, twizzlers -- it's going to be quite the event. I am going to have a sensible breakfast and lunch, and then this will be my dinner. I am not thinking about the calories. I did not let myself eat during any other finales this year, and this is my blowout.
Then Saturday morning I will get up and do my long run for the week. If I can't eat it in an hour, it's not happening.
Wendy -- I'm sorry I don't remember what you do, but it sounds killer. Those shifts would make me insane! Just hold it together, we're here for you! I think your daughter's party sounds like so much fun. Sometimes I really wish I had a girl (but not enough to give birth again (50/50 chance, or go through an adoption...). Our last birthday party had a Pokemon theme. I've had the Justice League, Spiderman, Yu-Gi-Oh, you name it, if it's a cartoon tailored for boys, we've probably done it.
That's ok, since I'm the only girl, I get to be the Disney Princess in our house!

Good Friday morning everyone.
Hope everyone is having a great day.
Wendy Try to hang in there for the next couple of weeks. YOU have an insane schedule and I hope it gets better after the big event. Deep breaths is what you need. The only way to get through it is to stay calm.
Maria DH is a big Stargate fan but he is not going to be home today so I guess he will have to watch it in reruns.
I am also the only female in my house (dh and 2 dss). I wish they would treat me like a princess at times but alas I am usually just one of the guys unless we are going out and I have to get dressed up and then and only then do I get complements.
Dh and ds2 are going camping and kayaking this weekend. I could have gone but I really don't feel like going to a place with no running water and only an outhouse with 15 other people. Call me strange that way. Ds1 is home today but working on Sat and SUn so it should be pretty quiet. I just finished an afghan for a friend's daughter so I have no projects hanging over my head. I might do some sewing and knitting to pass the weekend. At least it is not going to be too hot here.
I have to ds2's school this morning. Costumes from a show they did 2 years ago may be rented out to a theater company. I was there the other night and started taking them out of boxes with a couple of other mothers. Someone had gone through the boxes a couple of months ago to loan out some costumes to a local elementary school and things were a mess. But what bothered me the most was a certain costume. IN the show there were 4 costumes that were very similar. When I went into a box and started pulling them out I found three out of the 4 costumes. Now I would not have put only three in the box and not the 4th. I left early and I hope that they found the 4th costume. We shall see in a little while.
I am finally starting to feel better and trying to eat as healthy as I can. I haven't started working out yet but yesterday I helped clean out the bottom of the pool and spent 3 and a half hours bending and stretching to clean the bottom. My rear end and backs of thighs really feel it today. I just took a nice hot bath to help ease the pain. I hope to get back into walking and yoga by next week. I still have a slight cough and sour throat but feel like i have turned the corner.
Have a great day everyone.

Dona glad you are feeling better!!!
I am the only female in my house, I guess, unless you count the cat. However, it is just DH and me. I don't really want to be a princess... I am not very girly. I like computers, hockey, geeky stuff, beer.
Worfie, I am having a cheat day this weekend too. Not sure yet what we are going to do or eat, but the entire day tomorrow, I am going to eat whatever I want. I have stayed under 1200 calories for every day of the past month, worked out 4-5 days a week, and lost 10 lbs, so I think I deserve it.
I am a little discouraged lately... somehow I feel like I should be losing more. I need to re-adjust my thinking and not hope for 3-4 lb losses every week. A steady 1-2 will still get me to my goal, just slower. I am impatient, can you tell?

Hi!
I did my crunches and push-ups this morning, and I had a cheese omelet for breakfast. I'm planning on WW yogurt for my snack, and baked fries and stir-fried veggies for lunch. I also have a plum for my afternoon snack.
Today is off to a good start.

Good morning. I got up this morning and did 15 minutes of walking and 20 minutes of pilates. First real exercise since Mother's Day It really felt good. I have my first load of laundry in but we can't do any more because we are filling up the swimming pool. We have no water pressure at all. I cleaned the frig and the freezer this morning before the garbage men came. My car is in the shop because I got a flat tire. It needs to be replaced.
The other day I got a call from my mom. A cousin was coming for dinner. She was just back from NM and is closing her apartment in NY and moving back to NM for 2 -3 years. She will be working with abused children in a new group home that is being set up out there. She sounded very excited about it. I'm glad she found something. She is a nun and was working in NYC and had just started a program for preschoolers. It ran for about 2 years and the church pulled their support for it and she lost her job. She been on sabatical and went out to NM for a retreat.
I seem to now have permanent plans for the 4th of July. We became friends with a family and they have a big 4th of July party every year. They have a big pool and everyone brings something so I have to figure out what I am going to bring. Ds2 is leaving for a Leadership conference on Sat and is returning on Tues night just in time to go to the party.
Eating today has been pretty good. I had 1 eg scrambles with roasted veggies and a low carb wrap. I am going to have a yogurt with some fruit right now. Lunch will be roasted veggies with a wrap so that I can use them up. Dinner is up in the air right now. I have a half of turkey breast and I need to do something with it. Maybe turkey and brown rice (almost like fried rice but it is a great way to use up left over turkey or chicken or pork) and maybe some broccoli
Hope everyone has a great day

Hello everybody! I am checking in and need to keep checking in for accountability! I have been on a downward spiral for a couple of months now, I'm very :guilty: (that's guilty BTW) and :sad1: and most imporatantly  at myself for gaining back most of the weight I lost since joining you guys here. Oh well, time to look forward and I have decided to fill up my appetite with lots and lots of green tea and water. Unfortunately, the iced green tea I made is a bit bitter :scared: I think I let it steep too long. I have really missed talking to you guys here, I have been gone because I'm a bit disappointed in myself, but I need to come back becuse I need your support to lose some of the weight I gained back before DH comes home in like 35 days :woohoo:
On a happier and very funny note, I did a cartwheel today. Well sorta a cartwheel, it wasn't perfect, but I can't belive I actually got myself up on my hands feet in the air it was a pretty funny sight let me tell you. :rotfl: My kids were shocked and amazed at the sight. I feel good about it though.
So far today I have had:
B- Proper serving size of Raisin Bran w/ milk and a few extra raisins...6 points
S- Green tea w/ splenda...0 points
L- homemade navy bean soup w/ lots of veggies and turkey bacon for flavoring and sugar free kool aid...6 points
I don't know what snack will be, but I'll keep it to green tea with some fruit, that's like 1 or 2 points. I usually use most of my points for dinner.
OK, thanks for letting me ramble and feel better about things!! Talk to you guys tomorrow.

Worfie, I did the same thing... mine was Thai buffet on Fri lunch, then pizza for Fri dinner, then Saturday I don't even want to discuss!
I jumped back on yesterday. Today I weaselled out of work and went to WetNWild Greensboro. Fun, but I hurt now. However, I do consider it exercise!! And I wore my new Tinkerbell tankini from the disneyshopping site.
I have no 4th plans. Hard to make them when all you get is a random Wed off! Plus I think DH will have to work, the mall doesn't close for anything but T-giving and Christmas.

Hi Everyone!
I'm checking in after not posting for a while and I'm sorry to be MIA for so long. On the diet front, I'm about the same weight as before, minus a pound or two at times. I've been using my exercise bike nearly every day except for the past couple of weeks. I've been sick (sinus infection?? :confused3 ) and have had no energy for a while. I'm going to the doctor today for that and for a few other issues, such as weird dermatology stuff. Please send pixie dust! One of my issues is a rash on my foot, which my dermatologist is treating as athlete's foot with a cream. So far, the cream is not helping. We do WDW in 40 days, and I'm praying that this foot-thing will be resolved way before then. It's just a little thing, but it's driving me nuts on a good day when I do a little walking, and to think of WDW-style walking with that issue is scary.
We went to a family wedding last weekend. It was out-of-state and we don't see a lot of the extended family that often. I wore that dress that I was surprised I could fit into, and it was so nice to not have to shop for a new dress! I even felt OK posing for a few pictures. It was a nice wedding with a ton of good food. They had a chocolate fountain! I've seen those on TV but never in real life.......Wow! Talk about pretty. LOL
One thing I like about this time of year is the fresh veggies available at the farmer's market. Yesterday I bought some peas and ate them straight from the pod as a snack. Yum!
I hope everyone is doing well! I'll try to post more often!

Good morning everyone.
I put in 40 minutes of exercise this morning. 15 minutes of walking and 25 minutes of yoga. If you think yoga is easy think again. She concentrated on shoulders and neck. The first 10 minutes I thought my arms were going to fall off.
Eating yesterday took a turn when my ds2 and I went to see SHrek. So for dinner I had popcorn and a soda. It was a cute movie. I haven't seen Pirates yet but will probably see it this weekend when ds2 is at a conference. He leaves on Sat and will be home on Tues. Dh is leaving on Friday and going hiking on Sat so the house will be quiet on Sat with ds1 going to work. Maybe I can get this quilt top done that I have to do as a sample for my quilt shop. I can always find something to do around here.
So far today I have had a banana and a Fiber ONe bar (If you haven't tried them they are great. 9 grams of fiber in each bar and the taste is great. They also only have 140 calories per bar. If you are looking to put more fiber in your diet, try one. They come in chocolate or peanut butter). I am off to the grocery store to get some fresh veggies and fruit and cereal for ds2 who goes through a big bowl every morning.
Kelly I have been sick on and off for the last 6 weeks (since Mother's day) and a sinus infection is one of them (besides ear infection and a stomach/migrain thing and the hives). I had the sinus infection twice and a couple of times this week I even thought it was coming back. Good luck with the doctor. COngrats on wearing something from your closet. I too hate shopping except for fabric (I am a quilter)
Hockey Kat the water park sounds like fun. We usually go once a year to Huricane Harbor. We like to go on a cloudy day when it looks like it is gooing to rain. Not a lot of people go and you can get on the rides pretty easily.
Shelly Welcome Back. I think it has been a very busy spring and a lot of us are making the Uturn and getting back on track. I know I am.
Maria How are you doing today?
To everyone Have a great day Keep working at this, it will be worth it in the long run.

Hello ladies, I'm making a quick report today. The kids and I went for a walk in our Crocs today to get them "warmed up" for all the fun at the World. I have a sit-n-stand stroller and they always fight over who gets to stand and I told them no one gets to stand they had to walk like big kids to get ready for all the walking at Disney. They did pretty well, no complaints about the shoes rubbing or hurting. Today we walked around the street that cirlces the whole neighborhood once, tomorrow we do it twice, we'll see if they can hang :lmao:
Kat, we love the Wet-n-Wild. We ahven't been able to go this year because DH is gone and I can't take the kids by myself. We go to the little kids splash park on Base, they love it there.
Kelly, Hope you feel better, sinus infections are horrible. 40 days is a great feeling huh? I can't wait, I'll probably see you at a couple of restaurants (sp?) that we have the same ADR's for.
Dona, Yoga is hard! I have tried it before and it can really hurt. You had me LOL at your arms falling off! Good luck with it.
Have great night and see you guys tomorrow.

Good Saturday Morning. It is gorgeous here in the NJ. It is cool this morning with the sun shining. Upper 70's to low 80' until next week. THis is my kind of summer.
Dh left last night to go hiking this morning with a group of adult scouts. I think he just went to see this guy he knows mess up. THe maps are not that accurate and the trail the guy talkked about was overgrown last time dh was on it. I think he went to just get a good laugh. THis guy has been a pain with the troop since Feb and my dh has not been too happy with him.
Ds 2 is going to a 4 day leadership conference this morning. Ds1 will probably sleep in since he doesn't have to report to work until 2.
It is going to be quiet around here so I think I will work on quilt top that needs to get back to the quilt store next week so that it can be quilted.
Saw Ratatouille last night and loved it. It is such fun for kids and adults alike. Going to go on line later and get tickets to Beauty and the Beast before it closes. Ds 2 saw it when he was 4 and said he would like to see it again.
Now for the big surprise of the week. Dh and I were going to go to Key West this summer but with college tuition and Eagle Ceremony for ds2 (big party about 120 people) we decided to wait until next year (also our 30th anniversary) When we were dicussing our plans for KW we got to talking about what we would do there and we realized that we could not spend a full week there because we are not the type to just sit on the beach (dh is hiking 8 miles today just for fun he is not the type to sit on the beach) so he asked me if I wanted to combine it with a trip to DW DUH:lmao: I was so excited Thursday night that I couldn't sleep. What am going to do for a full year:rotfl: Ds2 will probably come for the entire trip since he has never been to KW but DS1 may only come for the DW part since he has been to KW with dh (THey went on a scout trip and I spent the week at DW with ds2, and some friends) He said that we could just do DW but since ds2 and I have never been to KW I really do want to see it so this is a great compromise. I have been planning this in my head for the last day. I may schedule segway tours for us. Maybe we could schedule it so that my sister and her family are down there at the same time so the cousin could do the tour together. The kids love hanging out together and are great friendsl.
HAve a great day everyone. Keep up the hard work

Hello everyone
Trying to get over bronchitis. It isn't working. Went back to dr's today. At least I have some stronger antibiotics to get me going. I just want to lay down and not cough like a crazy woman. Hopefully tonight.
Wow Michelle. A cartwheel! I am so proud of you! I am working on getting back on a bike. It has been over 8 years, and with so many issues, way to many to mention, I miss riding. I will get there, and DD and I will continue our quest for healthy living. She is doing really well. Her biggest thing is the huge increase in excercise. It is really making a difference for her. I am letting her splurge today, since it is her birthday.
Had to get a new keyboard. Other one got wet and after letting it dry for a few days, it still doesn't work. Computer just beeps at me. So, it's a new keyboard for the old computer. It really needed one. But, you just hate spending the money for something that isn't on the budget.
Time to check in with the party girls.
Ciao for now

Good Morning!
So, things are nuts at my house. We just hosted dh's SF and his wife (I know that sounds odd -- my MIL passed in 1999), and while they were here my dad and his wife arrived (my mom passed in 2002), and they will stay for a couple of weeks. Next week we are taking them on a short trip to NH, and the day we get back we have friends passing through and staying 4 days on their way back from Ireland. I cannot use my bike or TM, and finding time to leave for a run isn't happening. The minute I get home from work I am cooking, cleaning, hostessing, at least I'm staying busy!
My eating is also nothing to brag about. I haven't even found time to do Sparkpeople. I am a mess!
Wendy -- I hope you are feeling better soon. This seems to really be lingering, I'm so sorry!
Dona -- Your anniversary trip sounds wonderful! Now you have an entire year to dream and plan. :cloud9:
Michelle -- I hope your kids love their crocs. I can't get them off of ds!;)
Kelly -- I hope your foot is healing. I think that is one of the more frustrating places to have an injury. I agree about the fresh fruits and veggies. Even though I haven't been doing so great, I'm eating strawberries, blueberries, sugar snap peas, etc. I am at least taking in some good nutrients.
Kat -- How are you doing?:goodvibes Do you do hockey year-round, or is there a season for your practice/league?
On the bright side, once all these people leave my house, I will be eager to eat right and exercise, and I will have about a month to really push into getting it together. I promise to keep posting, even if my victories are small...today I'm getting three fruits and two vegetables in between breakfast and lunch :thumbsup2
Everybody hang in there!

Hey all, I am sitting in a hospital room about 1.5 hours from home. My FIL started having seizures on Sat morning, so we have been here since. They still don't know what is wrong with him, still running tests.
Worfie, hockey runs year-round, but you pay by the season. This season ends in 3 weeks and I will decide whether to re-up with this league (women's) or move to a co-ed league with my DH. It will depend largely on his fitness level.
Hope everyone is doing well!

Oh no Kat!
Take care of yourself, too. Hospitals are rough, especially on those waiting.
Maria! I need to blog once in awhile on sparkpeople. Just logging meals and such keeps me busy! I am so glad to finally get to feeling better. Now, last night had to take DS to hospital and found out he has pleursy. (SP) More painful than anything. WIth his asthma, we just don't take any chances when the inhalers don't work. Boy, that is enough for now. He just got home for a seeing is GF, and he looked like he had been crying. I asked him how he was and he said that they were talking about how they are going away to different colleges, that are about 10 hours away from each other, and what they should do. He has had a crush on this young lady since middle school. It has just been this year that they started dating. Ah, thank the gods that I will not have to ever go thru that again--teenage dating! Take care!
Dona--YEAH!
Hope everyone had a great holiday. I am listening to the music to Sorcery in the Sky fireworks because I missed the fireworks this year and want to pretend I am seeing them now.
Hugs to all and lots of pixie dust!

Good Saturday morning.
Kat I hope everything is starting to work out with FIL.
Wendy I am so sorry that you have a sick son and there might be problems in his relationship. I know what you are going through. Ds1's girl friend broke up with him just before graduation (right after the prom) because he was going away to school. He was 1 hour away and that first year he came home every weekend. He was devistated. He put all her things in a box, wrote on the top Things that break my heart and stuck a pencil in it like an arrow. Good luck to you and your son.
It is 8 AM and everyone is still asleep. I have been up since 5. I did a 20 minute yoga routine and then went for a 10 minute swim. The water was colder than I like but I am surprised how fast I got used to it. I just finished the paper and I think it is time to eat breakfast.
I have a quilt top to finish this weekend and I am trying to use up all the purple yarn I have left over from an afghan I made for someone.
I am getting really excited. Next Thursday we are going to see Beauty and the Beast in NYC before it closes. DH and I are taking ds2 (who saw it when he was 4) and his cousin (who was 3 when she saw it) and my sister who has never seen it. Then on Sat dh and I are going to a wedding of a friend. This friend is 60 and he has never been married. It will be a big wedding because he is mayor of one of the local towns. I need to get my hair cut this week and maybe look for a new dress.
Have a great weekend everyone. I am going to enjoy that last day under 90 here before the heatwave hits.

Hi Everyone!
I'm so sorry I haven't been posting much. We have had continuous company since July 1, and we won't be alone again until the 17th...I still have to go to work, so entertaining and keeping the house up are taking all my spare time. Once I get all the company gone, I will be here more!
Kat -- I hope FIL is much better, and things are going well for you.
Dona -- I know you are going to have such a good time at B&B! Enjoy every precious moment.
Wendy -- Poor DS! Everything is so intense at that age. Actually, poor you! It's so hard to watch them in pain and not be able to make it right. Good luck shepherding him through.
I am still doing crunches and push-ups (modified) every day. I try to do it as soon as I get up, and it really makes a difference in starting my day.
My eating is all over the map -- some days are great, others not so much. I haven't actually been getting on the scale, either.
Anyway, everyone have a fantastic finish to the weekend, and I will try to chat tomorrow, since of course I'll be at work...:rotfl2:

Hello everyone. I have been pretty busy this week. Wed dh and ds2 and I went kayaking for about an hour and a half. It was a great workout for the shoulders and arms. I was lucky I did not hurt the next day.
Thursday we went to see the latest HP. My ds and I are big fans and we both loved the movie. Then we drove up for a quick dinner with my dm and dd. Then into the city to see Beauty and the Beast. Ds2 saw it when he was 4 and his cousin was 3. We took the two of them in to see it before it closed. He asked to see it again a couple of months ago so this was his birthday present. It was such fun to see it with him. His school almost did B&B this past year but they couldn't get the rights. He would have been prop manager for the show. He is also into all the workings of the theater and we kept pointing things out to each other. It was great.
It also brought a tear to my eye when they sang the title song. When he was a baby the movie came out and we all wanted to see it so we went. During the movie, of course during the title song he started to cry. We were in the back of the theater so I moved into the eye and rocked him till he quieted down. It has always held a special place in my heart.
Eating hasn't been too bad this week. Today I need to find something to wear to a wedding tomorrow night. I have a black pair of pants so if I can find a pretty top I am set. JC Penneys and Macy are both having sales today. I got my haircut yesterday so I hope I can find something to wear.
Well I have to go and put in some time on organizing my ds2's Eagle Ceremony for next month.
Have a great day everyone.

Hello everyone!
Thanks for the kind words with DS. He is still a bit of emotional roller coaster. Seems that he wants to spend time with her, but life, family, and work gets in the way. They talk about staying together, and I remind him if it is to be, it will be. I think most of it is that he is going so far away to school, while she is also going away to school. She doesnt' really want to go where she is going, but because she just dragged her feet, hoping to get into MIT, she had to take what would work to keep her scholarships and such. I told her she has a whole yr to get into someplace she would like to go. DH and I hope it doesn't end up being where DS is going. I think she is a wonderful girl, but he gets so involved with her. It's no wonder I don't sleep or always eat right! Well, that is part of parenting. Thanks again for the shoulders. IT really helps.
Dona--I would so love to see B & B on stage! We saw the Lion King on stage and it was amazing! I love the theater, but never really get to see anything. I am so glad everyone enjoyed it! And it is such a wonderful story.
Kat--how are you doing? Everyone ok? Sending you prayers.
Maria--I should blog a bit on sparkle, but just feel out of time to even log meals. Oy Vey! If reality would just stay out of the way!
So, hope everyone else is doing well. Boss is on vacation this up coming week, and I am covering for him. Last week I covered for someone in Whitehall, and they had an inspection the day I was there. We did great, except the young man who had to demonstrate a task failed to do it correctly. So, with that one task incorrect, they failed. I was pretty angry, but couldn't do anything about it. I hope she doesn't show up while my boss is gone. That would be my luck!
I am off to finish catching up!
Take care all! Have a great week

WOW ... I don't know how I missed this thread!
Rather than trying to catch up on all the posts :surfweb: , I hope no one minds if I start right here.
I'd like to lose 15 pounds before I participate in the Race for the Taste in October and 25 pounds before the 1/2 marathon in January. I know the weight loss will make it easier for me to compete in these events. In addition, carrying around this extra weight makes it more difficult to train   Not to mention, just a little self-discipline could launch me into a healthier lifestyle.
I look forward to sharing this journey with you :grouphug:

As an intro, I am Kat, 31, married, no kids. I have lost about 34 lbs so far, since Feb, and have about 33 more to lose. I am doing 1200 calories and tons of exercise, mostly elliptical, strength training, and ice hockey.
Thanks for caring, tb... things have improved a lot w/ my FIL. He is now home and seems to be okay for now. Hopefully he won't regress into the habits that caused his problems and will continue to commit to being healthy.

Hi Everybody!
So glad to see this thread is still on page 1...My 17 days of company are over, and I can get back to working on me. My boss is on vacation this week, so hopefully I will have more time to post LOL. :lmao:
DH still hasn't put the basement back together so I can work out. Once he moves the TM and bike so I can plug them in, I'm good to go. He promised, so hopefully it will be ready when I get home today. Even if I just go for a short walk at a slow speed, it will be more than I've been doing. I have to get back into it, because the Half Marathon is not going to wait for me!
I also have to get back on the scale and see where I'm starting from. It's not going to be pretty, but it has to be done :rotfl2: I'd better get busy, I really do want to weight alot less before the big 40 next June...
Welcome to our newbies! It's been a quiet summer. Things will pick up as everyone gets back from vacation and tries to fit into new Fall clothes.

I just hope he doesn't come back totally sunburned. I will send sunscreen, but that doesn't mean he will use it.
I have lots to catch up on. Been at parents house, my dad isn't doing so well, his kidneys have reached a level that he needs dialysis or transplant. He is looking into transplant. He would not be a very good patient on dialysis. We will know more later this week.

How are we doing? I hope everyone is having a great summer and is busy off losing weight LOL.
I have been trying to find my motivation. I can't even seem to get my list of vacation stuff done, let alone worry about what I'm eating or work out. I did do crunches and push-ups today, and I am determined to get on the TM tomorrow, even if it is just for a walk. I need to get in the habit of exercise again. Before I know it, it will be January and I will need to have my act together for the Half Marathon!
Anyway, I promise to try to post more here...I'm hoping for some company! Wendy, Dona, Kat, Michelle, Michele, DreamBeliever and Mandy, let's chat!

Well girls I weighed in today, which I do every few days (I am a Centre Director for Jenny Craig) Currently I have to stay within 5 lbs of my weight in weight (153.1) Today I weighed in at 150!!! WHOOHOOO!!! I am on between 1500 and 1700 calories.
I can't pick one fav Disney Princess.
I love Snow White because #1 I look like her and #2 she stays optimistic about love even when she is alone in the middle of the woods with 7 short unattractive men
I love Cinderella because she also stays optimistic about love and in the end the prince is actually romantic and will do anything to be with her (I guess that's why i like the prince actually, lol)

Hi everoyne. I didn't want to post in the last couple of weeks because I have been sick again (yes again) I haven't been to the doctor because I think I am getting better then I get sick again. I have no voice but I think the cough is going away. I was getting better last week but then I went to the dentist and had a long procedure. I always feel crappy for a couple of days after the dentist but with a low immune system it came really pretty hard. I don't want to take any more antibiotics but if it is not better by Thursday I will go to the doctor. I am taking a great deal of immune boosting vitamins and lots of vitamin C. I had more energy yesterday than i had the day before. This morning I woke up at 4 but very energized. I have been doing paperwork since 4:30 and I am getting ready to do a yoga routine in a ffew minutes.
I am more of a villian lover. (When my students found out they said that they wouold never have guessed that I had a dark side. I get a lot of reaction to the villian poster that is hanging in my classroom. It can start a great deal of discussion at time) I guess if I had to pick a princess it woud have to be Belle as well. We both have brown hair and we both love books.
Well have a great day. Off to get somethings done.

Good Morning!
I popped out of bed and was on the TM by 6, and now I feel great. Those endorphins are worth their weight in gold! I'll totally be dragging by 6 pm probably, but it will be worth it.
Mandy -- You are cracking me up with your Snow White #2! I never thought of it that way. Snow White has hidden depths I never suspected :rotfl: Congratulations on the weigh in, that is awesome! My favorite prince is Prince Eric. I like that he has a name...:lmao: And I like that he has a bit of his own story.
Dona -- I am so sorry to hear you haven't been well, I know it seems like you can't make any progress with feeling good, but I'm sure it will come. The yoga is so good for you, I know it is helping. Villains, huh? Ok, my dh is a villain guy, too. I think my favorite villain is Maleficent, I love that she turns into a dragon.
Belle is my favorite, but I also like the courage of Mulan, and I like that her first movie ends with her saving China, not a prince saving her.
I had pb toast for breakfast today, which should help with my eating. When I actually get protein first thing, I find I am less hungry all day. Do you guys have any tricks for staving off the hunger? What about the evening? That is my worst time. I eat dinner, and if I have a "real" dessert (it can be low cal, but it has to feel like dessert, one Hershey kiss won't do it), then I seem to be ok.
Let's have a great losing day!

Wow activity!! Cool!!
So sorry to hear about your illnesses, dona!
Mandy, great job!! I can't wait to someday see the 150s.
Worfie, jump right back up and make time for all this crummy exercise we should be doing. Jan is 6 mos away, and considering the progress I have made in 6 months I am sure that you can do it! I started barely able to do 10 minutes on the elliptical and now I can do 3.5 miles in 45 minutes and not feel like complete crap, in fact, it is energizing. I am totalling about 200-250 min of cardio a week including my hour of hockey.
I managed to make it to the gym last night even after a [bleep] workday, and I felt much, much better when I was done (and Mr Kat thanked me for beating up the elliptical and not him!).
I am holding steady at about 181, and have been in the 180-185 range for the past few weeks. I am hoping to make it down to 170 before my Sept trip, but I would be happy with 175. I don't expect to see 150 before Christmas. I am taking this as a slow and steady effort, and I do have a cheat day every few weeks.

Hello all!
Well, my favorite princess is Ariel. She just longs to be her own person, and I think its her longing to know everything that gets me. I also am the same way. I want to know the 'why'. She's so full of spunk.
DS is looking for books of sonotas to take to school with him. He really likes Beethoven. I think he found one, but will have to have the music store order it for him. We are taking his keyboard up. It is a full keyboard, all 88keys. So, he can play when ever he wants rather than have to hunt down the music room and play. He plays so well, I really hate to keep him from it.
OH! Reflections from Earth is playing on Mouse house radio. Yeah! Makes me long for Epcot even more!
The count down is on. DS goes to disney in 12 days. Then off to college in 24 days. I dread going thru clothes to figure out what he needs to take with him. Not that he will change much anyhow.
Off to catch up on my journals.
Been doing well, and getting back in the groove. Just hope I don't fall into stress eating with all the travels going on!
Take care!

Hi Everybody!
I had good luck with getting up again today, I am all "worked out" after getting on the TM. DH still isn't moving -- he's the one who said he was going to get up and go to the gym every day, so it would be easy for me to workout while he's gone and before ds gets up...I guess I'm setting a good example. :goodvibes
DH went shopping last night, so our pantry and fridge are full of good stuff. I packed sugar snap peas, cherries, grapes and carrots with my LC today. I even have WW yogurt as dessert.
We are three weeks away from leaving, so Wendy, I feel your pain! I have this huge list, and it doesn't seem possible to get everything done. Plus I have to get ds to finish his books and reports before we go, and get all his school stuff ready. He goes back the day after we return. It's just a half day, but he has to turn in his book reports, and there's a list of stuff for the first day, plus he has to be wearing a uniform that fits...
And I don't dare miss a day of work before I go, unfortunately I seem to be needed now.
Anyway, that's enough of my tales of woe. It is so interesting to hear who everyone's favorite princess/character is and why. I think there's something to admire in each of them.
Here's my conversation starter for today -- what is your favorite ride in the Magic Kingdom, and why? popcorn::
Mine is Space Mountain. It is just the right speed, length and atmosphere for a little thrill, but it's not so scary that I dread it. It's the perfect ride for me.
I hope everyone woke up to a lovely day, and you are ready to tackle whatever comes your way! :cool1:

I am down to 180.2 today... yes, I shouldn't weigh every day... but inching closer to the 150s!!

Good morning eeveryone. I had a great night sleep and I even slept to till 6 which is late for me. I was still coughing but my throat doesn't hurt that much today. My voice still off but I think it will take a while for it to come back. My energy level is still pretty high today so I should be able to get some things done around here.
THis morning I went for a bone density test. As medical tests go it is probably the easiest test. You just lay there and a scan machine passes over your spin and hip.
I have about 2 and 1/2 weeks until my son's Eagle Ceremony. Most of the RSVP's have not responded so I don't know how many people are coming. My dh is not letting me do as much cooking as I did for my other son's party. He is limitting me to 3 crockpots (I have at least 5 and acess to a great many more. I used at least 9 for ds1's party) I have to order some food this weekend. We are doing mostly sandwiches since the ceremony is at 11 and the party will start about 12- 12:30. I have to get a lot of things done next week since the following week I will taking a class MOn to Thurs.
I don't think I can narrow it down to only one ride in MK. Dumbo is a favorite since it is one of the first that I got to share with ds's. My dh and I love the feeling of flying in Peter Pan. I love Haunted Mansion and Pirates because I remember seeing them the first time on THe WonderfulWOrld of Disney before I even imagined going to a Disney park (I was born the same year that DL was opened but we lived on the east coast)
But if I have to narrow it down to one it is Splash Mountain. My dh and ds1 went on it way before I did. I didn't want to do the drop. They finally talked me into it. I took an entire roll of film inside since I thought that I would never do it again. I have done it many times since but my favorite was the night we talked them into letting our party of 9 to ride. My dh sat with ds2 and dneice2in the front row and then the rest of us ffilled the rest of the log. As they came over the crest of the drop dh told the two little ones to put their hands up but he grabbed them around their waists because we were afraid they would fly out of the log since they were so light. We took 4 copies of that picture One for each family and one for my parents.
Have a great day everyone.

I guess we need a new question. I am really enjoying reading everyone's replies, it's a fun way to learn something new, and to think about things in a new way.
Let's spice things up and go to the Animal Kingdom -- What is your favorite animal that you can find in this park? I guess for me it's the tigers. They just look so majestic, but also like you could pet them...

Maria, I wound up just adding more cardio. I couldn't really justify adding more hockey as I am already paid for the gym, and hockey would add more expense.
I am inching my way closer to the 150 club... I was down to 177 when I weighed yesterday. That is 41 lbs! I can't update my ticker until Friday, though, official weigh in day. I had someone tell me today that I look like a completely changed person.
I can't answer AK questions... I pretty much jet in, do EE and Dinosaur, and jet out. :cool1:

Well, it is just 2 days til DS goes to WDW with best pal. I am so nervous, but excited as well. I know that they will have fun. It is their big trip before college the following week. We have tubs of stuff labeled for him to take. I know it won't stay organized, but what is a mom to do?
I am going to say that for my favorite ride at MK, it would have to be Splash Mountian. The theming is great. Yet, again, I can ride Pirates 10 times in a row and not get bored. Ok, it is Splash mount!
As for AK, I would have to say that my favorite is the Majarajah Jungle trek. Ok, it isn't a ride, but I love the majesty of the tiggers. I could watch them for hours!
Maria, can we visit Epcot next? It's my fav!

Hi Everyone!
Whew! In addition to trying to get ready for our trip, dh has a nasty stomach bug. He hasn't kept anything but water and gatorade down for 50+ hours. He's going to the doctor tomorrow morning, I think that's getting dangerous because he isn't getting better.
So, being the sole parent (I tip my hat to all single parents, I don't know how they do it!), is pretty much taking up any time I would have to workout. On the bright side, I've been walking to work and back from the T, so that's an hour each day.
I thought we were going to have to cancel our trip (dh has a terminal uncle), but it looks like it will be ok for us to go. It's just been crazed!
Anyway --
Mandy -- I am so sorry for your loss! Please give yourself time to feel and heal, and know that we are sending you massive  :grouphug:
Dona -- I'm with you, Soarin' is my favorite ride. Of course, I've never ridden Mission to Mars or Test Track, so I probably don't know what I'm missing. Perhaps I'll talk ds into one or the other this trip. ;) Good luck on Saturday, and Congratulations!
Wendy -- I've never been on the Maharajah's Jungle Trek, but it is definitely on our list for this trip! I can't wait to see the tiggers!:tigger:
Kat -- I have also been guilty of not doing much at AK, I'm determined to change that this trip. We're going to morning EMH, so that should help. It just seems to get so hot there so fast, we can't get back to our hotel pool fast enough!:beach:
This is my last weekend to get everything together, wish me luck!

Good morning A quick note before I leave for class. This is my last day of classes. I am refreshing my AP Calc skills this week in a class. I have been leaving at 6:30 in the morning but I get past a lot of the trafffic I would normallly hit later. I have been bringing my knitting to keep me busy for the extra hour I have to wait. Class has been intense. 8 hours a day with only a 1/2 an hour for lunch but it is great to meet other people who are doing the same thing that you are doing. Today is the hardest topic.
Tonight I have to pick up some groceries and tomorrow is set up. We are expectingh about 90- 100 people. It should be fun.
I still don't have a very strong voice and I am coughing occasionally. LAst night I went to a meeting and it was in a hall that had someone smoking recently. I thought I would never stop coughing.
Well I better go I have to get dressed and leave for class. Before class I will starting my 2nd sock that I am knitting for myself.
Maria Hope your husband feels better. HAve a great trip.

Hi Everyone!
Just wanted to do one last post before we leave tomorrow morning! Woohoo!:woohoo:
I am so excited I can barely contain myself -- just a few more minutes at work and then I'm off to complete the list before we go. It's not too bad, but not having dh functional until yesterday hasn't helped...He has his own list, you know:rotfl:
I am firmly committed to getting my act together, getting ready for the Disney Half, and getting this weight off when I get back. I will be fully treated, and sick of "yummies"!:mickeybar
I can't wait to get going on a fantastic Fall with you guys! We are going to kick some pounds to the curb, and be bastions of health and fitness!:cloud9:
I'll see you in September!:goodvibes :jumping3: :jumping1: party: :wave2:

Hello all
Well Maria is off enjoying the hot sunny weather! It has rained alot here, I think it is trying to make up for the lack of rain since May.
Dona, I agree with Soarin' Great trip! I do hope you get to feeling better. All that coughing has to be causing some sore muscles.
Now, AK is a great place to be for a day. I hope Maria is out looking at the tiggers. They are beautiful.
Mandy, my sympathies go out to you. Take care of yourself. Give yourself a hug.
Kat, I know that you will hit your goal. 17 pounds by New Years, and you will be the hit of the Party!
Off to take DS to college in the morning. Getting a bit tired, so I had better hit the hay. We are leaving at 6am. Are people really awake then?
Have a great week all! I will be back Labor day!

Awesome Mandy!!!
I know I have lost inches but no idea how many. I started out as a tight 18 that I wouldn't even admit. In fact, (shh confession time!), I would wear either stretchy stuff or my 16s with a long shirt and the zipper not zipped with the flaps tucked in. I bought one pair of 18 shorts for a WDW trip but wouldn't wear them and finally returned them... in fact I set one foot in Lane Bryant and went home and cried and that is part of the reason I started this.
Anyhow, long story short(er), I am now fitting into my 12s with room to spare.
I have to admit I didn't even take before pics or measurements, because I honestly didn't think I would stick to this enough to get anywhere.

I always emphasize to my clients that with increased physical activity, it's important to monitor inches. We normallly do it once a month.
I had one client that in 12 weeks only lost 3 lbs, but lost 10 inches due to all the walking she did!!

Happy first day of school to all those who are glad it's here!
Dona, my DH's classes don't start til the last Monday of Sept, but as faculty, he still puts in his 40 hours at the college. DD was so happy to start school today. DS started college today, but I am not sure just how excited he is. With being 10 hours from home, my inquires get very short answers! Enjoy the rest of the day!
Mandy! That is great! As we all know, muscle does weigh more, so inches is a great way to brag! Fabulous for you!

Good morning
This weekend was pretty quiet. Football game on Fri night. DS went out with some friends and got home at 11:45 so I didn't get to bed until 12. SAt night he had a competition and didn't get in until 12:30. Last night I had to do something on the computer because it was due by midnight tonight but it was out so by the time it did get on it was 10 and by then I wanted to see the end of the Emmys so I stayed up until 10:45 when I fell asleep on the couch. I woke up at 11:15 and went to bed. I plan to be in bed by 10 tonight.
My eating has been pretty good and I have worked out 6 out of the last 7 days so it has beeen pretty good. I am worried about my voice going out on me the other day. I don't want to add another doctor to my list.
Have a great day everyone.
WEndy cute picture of your son. How are you doing with him gone? I am already worried about next year when ds2 leaves but ds1 will probably be coming back (unfortunately he's the sloppier of the two)\

Hello My Precious :grouphug: Friends!
I'm coming back! After we got back from our wonderful trip Sept.4th, I was just spent. And then dh's terminally ill uncle passed -- we are just now having our first "normal" week for September.
Anyway, it's not pretty on my scale.:scared1: I was feeling so depressed last night.:sad1: But, I couldn't quite bring myself to give up and be enormous, so I have to start doing the things that will take off these pounds. I decided I'm going to do WW online. Hopefully that will be inspiring and I will start to drop some weight. I've worked out three times this week, and that was a huge improvement. I have spent a ton of time "doing" sparkpeople, but I don't seem to be losing any weight. I get too wrapped up in getting points, and don't get up and move.
My weight is at an all-time high, and the 150s seem like a distant fantasy. I am ready to commit to making serious progress. I even told dh I would eat ground turkey :rotfl:
I also committed to 3 days (2 down so far) without chips, candy, cookies or crackers. Even though I eat the 100 cal kind, I figure this couldn't hurt. I eat way too many of those 100 cal packs...Anyway, I think that's long enough for me to "break" my habit of eating these things every time I turn around. I plan to reintroduce them with a rule -- one every day. I can choose 1 100-cal pack per day, but just one. If I have cookies -- no chips! And if I have popcorn, no 100 cal pack. :sad2:
When I did WW before, I filled up on junk. I ate the right amount of points, but I didn't have good nutrition. This time I am going to eat right, and not let the carbs take over!:cheer2:
Anyway, I am eager to read all the back posts while I was away and catch up. I was half afraid you guys wouldn't be here anymore -- it would just figure. Now that I am really searching for support, and ready to get moving and losing, I am so glad you guys are still going strong!
Dona -- You are a working out machine! Fantastic! :cool1:
postef -- Welcome! This is a great place to get support!
Wendy -- September is a fresh start for everyone, I predict we will all be happy with how things are going by Halloween! :thumbsup2
Mandy and Kat -- You guys are leading the way! Excellent, inches gone forever!:cheer2:
So, I counted and there are 40 full days until Halloween...that's about 5 weeks. Anyone want to join me in trying to lose 10 lbs before the costumes come out?

Good Morning guys!!!
Dona--I saw you have been working out a lot!!! You go girl!!!
I am officially now under the big 200. As of this morning...199.6. Hopefully I can keep it this way until Tuesday for our BL weigh in!!! My goal of 1lb a week would put me at exactly 200 on Tuesday...so here's to hoping I stay in the 199s!!!
I'm working towards the 5K in January so that is keeping me motivated to exercise... I WILL complete it, but right now, I'm just not sure how!!! I walked 30 min yesterday and only did 1.6 miles!!! The race requirement is 15 min/mile pace... ugh!!! I've got to cut my time by 15 minutes!!! I'm trying to not get too overwhelmed w/ that as I still have over 3 months to go...but I'm just not seeing the light at the end of tunnel yet!
DH and I will walk tomorrow AM--3.2 miles. I except it to take about an hour. I'm going to time it for sure... Then we are off to Wilmington, NC for a night stay and then on Sunday to a suprise beach party for some friends 10 year anniversary party!!! Hope to keep my eating in check!!!
Hope you all have a good weekend!!!

Hello Stacie! I love your advatar! And wonderful on being under 200! I am working towards that. I will get there. It has just been a long process. As DH says, it took 8 years to get the weight on, so it may take 8 years to get it off. I have only been losing for 18 months. I don't think the sanity will stay if it takes 8 years! lol
Well, I have hit my goal on weight loss for Sept! Yay! 4 pounds! Now, I want to lose the 2.5 I gained last month! I am working on it.
Dona, I do miss him. I can't wait to visit in October. In my journal I have a link to some pictures. He is such a ham! There is one of him 3 years ago too. Amazing how fast they grow. Hmmm...you say ds1 is the sloppier. It is a toss up in our house. Both kids are about the same, only DD is more willing to pick up than DS. :goodvibes
Hey Maria. I know what you are thinking. At the end of August, I had gained 13pounds from the previous August. I have to be more focused, and it seems to work so far. DH has been great in making healthy meals. He enjoys the challenge, so I let him do it. He will even bring me dinner to make sure I don't fall off the wagon again. He just doens't want to be lonely as he gets older. I have promised to grow very old with him, and to be active. So, that's the gauntlet. DH. He is such a good man.
Everyone else, the best to you! We are having a very nice fall here in West Michigan. Hope every one else has great weather as well!

We went college shopping on Sat and I think ds2 has decided where he is goiong. He fits their criteria and application will be going out the end of this week or the beginning of the next. Good Afternoon!
I hope everyone is doing well. It's my third full day of following WW online. So far, so good. I had great workouts this weekend. I walked a 5.2 mile trail both days.
I'm psyched because I found a way to appease ds and workout -- he loves DWTS (especially since there's a Cheetah girl this year), so I agreed to watch it with him -- but I'll be on the TM. This means I am guaranteed a workout, and I don't have to cut short my "me-time" or family time, or chore time, to do it!
I also like to watch the Biggest Loser from the TM. I am finding more and more I can watch while working out, so I'm feeling good about that. It should certainly help this winter when I can't get out. It's a great place for stuff I don't really want to take the time to watch, but I enjoy -- like Top Chef or Project Runway.
Dona-- Wow! It is great that ds2 has already made his choice. It sounds like he found a fantastic fit. You must feel good about that! :goodvibes
Wendy-- I really think 10 lbs. is doable. It's two a week, and if I pay attention, I can pretty much do that. Of course, that means I can't have mindless eating, or not work out, but I really want to go into November 10 lbs. lighter!
Stacie-- Congratulations on reaching Onderland!I know it was a huge boost for you to mark that milestone. I have no doubt you will pick up speed as you get used to walking. Don't push yourself too hard too soon. I bet it will come naturally. :cool1:
Ok, I set my weigh in day as Friday, so I have about 3 more days to lose, lose, lose before the first reckoning :rotfl:

Good Afternoon!
Still chugging away with the WW online. I'm also getting great workouts in. I walked to DWTS Monday and Tuesday, so I did four days in a row of at least 5 miles. I'm taking today off -- I had a total of seven days in a row, and I need a break!
I'm eager to see what happens friday, and a little nervous. I don't have high expectations, but I know I'll feel so defeated if I don't lose something...My scale only registers half pounds, so I guess I need to get one that's more exact. I'm not sure that would really help me feel better, though.
I'm trying to come up with a reward for losing my first 5 lbs. I don't want it to be enormous, but it seems like I should mark it with something -- and not food! I'm trying to be optimistic. I'm hoping for that in the next few weeks, and I really, really want to lose 10 lbs. before Halloween...Any suggestions for a good reward?
Mandy -- I admire your dedication. It sounds like you are determined and optimistic!:cheer2:

Hi everyone!
I am back from my WDW trip. I have basically taken September completely off, and 15-26 was in WDW on the DDP so I have gained back about 8-9 lbs of my loss. I had planned on at most a 10 lb gain so I am pretty satisfied and ready to get back on the losing wagon.
My restart day is Monday, and I am definitely in for the 10 lb goal by the end of October. I will take my starting weight from this morning and go from there.

I had my yearly performance review this morning, and I'm happy to say I'm pleased with the results. We have to have 3 new goals every year, and I think mine will both be enjoyable and help with my professional growth. Hi Everyone! Hey! Is Anybody Out There?! Just startin' to feel a little lonesome here:confused3
I had a weekend of eating, but I was also working out, and counting my points. I ate out twice, and we had a family dinner Sunday. I counted almost every bite, I'm sure I missed some butter or salad dressing here or there. I walked six miles both days, and for an hour on Friday, so I think it will be ok at my weigh-in Friday. It's also TOM time, so one is only cautiously optimistic.
I've decided I get three "free" eating days for the rest of the year -- Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve/Day. I am not going to count any points those days, and in exchange I am going to count diligently every other day. That means no candy pigout on Halloween, and paying attention at all parties. Hopefully by the time Thanksgiving falls my tummy will be a bit smaller, and I won't be able to hold as much. I refuse to eat until I'm sick, so time is on my side!
Anyone have any strategies for Halloween:hmghost: ? I'm going to let DS pick out 20-30 pieces to keep (depending on size), and have dh take the rest to work (so it will really be out of my reach). I think that's more than enough for him. I want all the Halloween candy out of the house by Thanksgiving. Between parties and trick-or-treating, he gets a ton of candy. We usually don't have much left over, but that's going to work with dh, too. DS's first Halloween party is Saturday, so wish me luck!
Have a great, losing day!:goodvibes

Hi Maria,
Yes I am still here but just haven't had a chance to write lately. I like the idea about the three frre days.
We usually keep the halloween candy in the front hall where you really have to want it to go there (especially if it is cold out). Anything really left over I will bring to work and get rid of it. Chocolate and sugar has not been sitting to well with me over the last couple of days so I don't think I am going to be as tempted as I have been in the past.
Keep up the good work you have been doing.
No news on the college front yet. Appliications are in and so are the transcripts and the letters of recommendation. One school doesn't start looking at general applications until Dec 1 when they finish their Early Decision ones. We are realy waiting to hear from his first choice which has rolling admissions. It is also the only school that doesn't have a website to checkk to see if everything is in. We may call them on Friday.

I'm still plugging along. I had a rough last 2 days, but I did count my points (even the bag of popcorn...), and I did an hour on the TM last night.
My plan is to get back on track today, with fewer points and another TM workout. I'm still optimistic I'll make my goal by Halloween. This week is TOM, and it's wreaking havoc with my head.
I know it must be nerve-wracking waiting for the college acceptance. This is such a great year, though. I hope you are enjoying all your special time with ds.

Hi Ladies!
It sounds like we are busy, busy, busy!
I'm not quite willing to work out at 4:30 am yet (I :worship: to Dona, you are my hero!).
I work out either right when I get home from work while dh makes dinner -- could be your wind down/transition time, or when I'm watching tv, like for the Biggest Loser or Dancing with the Stars. Since I'm generally walking on a TM or using light weights, that works out fine. On the weekends I walk at about 7am, gets me home in time to get ready for church or ds's basketball games, and doesn't interfere with football :goodvibes
It is hard to fit in, but it is worth it. I work 36 hours/week, and I have a ds9. I also don't try to do it every day -- my body doesn't like that! I've been averaging 7-9 hours per week working out.
Also, you probably don't need the long workouts I do for training -- I range from 1 hr to 1.5 hrs, with longer for "long walks". I bet you would see real benefits from 30 minutes most days, if you haven't been doing much before now.
You will feel so good once you get the endorphins going, and sleep very well, too!
I heartily encourage everyone to find the time! :grouphug:

Good Morning!
It's my weigh-in day, and I'm down 1 lb. I was hoping for more, but with TOM, this is realistically actually a victory. I usually gain 2-3, so I'm going to have to look at my half-full glass. I'm still hoping for 3 next week, I really, really want to lose 10 before Halloween. :goodvibes
I spent an hour on the TM last night, 45 minutes Wednesday, and an hour Tuesday. I'm taking today off, and I plan to walk to Mission Impossible 2 -- yes, I'm that far behind in my movie watching -- Saturday if it's raining as it's supposed to be here. Sunday I'm hoping to get back outside.
I'm still following the Points pretty well. I've eaten more this week, but I think one night it was because I was sleep-deprived and I tend to try to fix any ailment with food. Anyway, I've barely dipped into my extra points for the week, and most days I've absorbed any extra by exchanges activity points.
I'm looking forward to a quiet night with my little guy. DH will be watching his beloved Red Sox tomorrow night, so this is our chance for family time.
Everyone have a great weekend, eat well, and keep moving toward a healthy lifestyle!
We can do it!:grouphug:

SOrry I haven't posted all weekend. It has been crazy around here. Friday night was pretty quiet just ds2 and I home. We both fell asleep around 10. Sat morning we got up and went to get his phone fixed. Never put a phone in the same pocket as a pencil. He learned the hard way but he also paid for it to be fixed. Then he was off to get ready to play for the band at a football game,. I picked him up from the game and we traveled north to see my parents and my sister. It was nice just hanging out with them and no else around. We had dinner and were watching Rear Window but it was getting late so he missed the end of it.
Sunday we got up to go to church, had breakfast and then I ran to do some grocery shopping. We then went to his school where I helped take some measurements for costumes, helped to cut some costumes out and worked on a backdrop Did I tell you they are doing Beauty and the Beast? I was helping to cut out napkin costumes and detail the bar room drop. Then I got on a bus with the marching band and went to a competition and got home about 9 last night.
Today has to be the worst. I am going to an inservice day. WE have no speaker it is a day to "share" ideas. 6 hours of sharing while sitting on cafeteria benches. What a waste of a day.
HAve a great day everyone.

Hi!
Dona, I know what you mean about the busy weekend -- I did not go online once. Saturday we took ds to Plimoth Plantation -- it's a recreation of a 1627 Pilgrim village and Native People homesite, with costumed persons acting in character. That was fun, but when we got home we had to get ready for ds's school Halloween party, which meant the first wearing of the costume. DS is Thing 1, from the Cat in the Hat. Once that was finally over, we had to get everyone settled before the big ALCS game.
Sunday morning ds and dh got me up too late for church (yes, I think there was a plot), and we had to go shopping for a gift card for boss's day, which meant a trip to the mall. Yes, I realize we are a week behind. My co-worker has whooping cough and vertigo, so she didn't feel like doing anything last week, and she's also out today, so no lunch out like I had planned. Anyway, we had our Patriots game, and then we had to get ready for our last ALCS game.
This week is going to be nuts. I can guarantee we will have all kinds of people calling in sick, or just not functioning, because they will stay up 'til 1 am watching the World Series. popcorn::
I did not do well with eating or exercise this weekend. My feet never walked a step for exercise. I did some walking at Plimoth Plantation, but that was about it. I couldn't bear to face the scale this morning. I decided I have to really step it up with lunch time walks and 90 minute workouts today through Thursday if I want to see any results come Friday morning. This is going to be a real challenge for me, but I am determined to do it. I am very afraid if I don't make a big effort now, I will gain the weight I lost back. I have to keep going in the right direction, and not let me self-sabotage. :cool1:
Omg, I thought my day was bad.....I really feel for you. Six hours of sharing ideas is just a recipe for boredom and annoyed staff. :sad2:
Beauty and the Beast is my absolute favorite Disney tale! I think you are going to have such a good time, even if it is bittersweet for you. :dance3:
So, my co-worker not coming today is really a blessing. I brought a healthy lunch just in case, so I'm all set with a low points day. DH made a chicken breast in the crock pot yesterday with mashed potatoes, so I already know my dinner points. We had plenty of yummy leftovers. I will probably be on the TM to Dancing with the Stars. Well, I'm not sure. I'd rather not have ds stay up 'til 9:30 (he's 9), but it does make it easy for me to stay on the TM for 90 minutes...
Anyway, my lunch time task today is to figure out our Christmas budget. This is my first effort, believe it or not. I just sort of spend what I spend, but this year I decided to set some limits and also try to figure out what is reasonable. I tend to buy way too much for ds, because I'm always afraid he doesn't have enough -- which is ridiculous...He also says he still believes in Santa, and he has a late January birthday, so I try to get things I'm afraid won't be left after the holidays. With the exception of my own gifts, I do all the shopping for the family ( I bet that sounds familiar!), so I have to get myself organized or it gets crazy. :santa:
Anyway, everyone have a wonderful day, and I hope you are enjoying beautiful weather as we are!:grouphug:

Good Afternoon!
Anyone else excited about The Biggest Loser tonight? I find that show so motivating!I wish it was like the CSI's -- I would watch it three nights a week, no problem!:happytv:
I broke down and got on the scale last night after my workout -- I weighed the same as last Thursday, so I guess my lapse this weekend wasn't too harmful. Just think, if I had worked out I probably would have had a loss...oh well. Plenty of time to eat right and workout before my next weigh-in on Friday. :thumbsup2
It seems so slow, but since I've been charting my weight daily, I can definitely see a real improvement since September. Every so often I seem to hold onto a weight for about 2 weeks, but then I have a good drop of a few lbs. As long as the scale is going down, I can be patient...
Have a great evening!

Happy Early Evening!
I'm sitting here munching my carrots, thinking about my 1.5 hr workout tonight...dh hasn't liked a single thing I suggested for dinner, so if he picks something not so good, I'm having soup!:goodvibes
Anyone else catch the Biggest Loser last night?! Stunning! I can't imagine deliberately putting on weight. It's just too hard for me to take it off!
Still hoping for a good number at Friday's weigh-in. I think if I can lose 2 lbs, I can definitely make my goal by Halloween. Even if I don't, I'm much closer than if I hadn't tried, and I will lose 10 lbs sometime in Nov.!
I bought some new pjs last weekend, in a smaller size. That felt so good!:woohoo: Of course, that is very forgiving material...I don't like the way my body looks right now, but I do see that a better shape will eventually come. It may be slow, but I am making progress.

I would love to join the 150 club. I am currently 330 and I have basically alot to shed. I will share my story later. I watch the biggest loser and love it. I have never missed a season. The only problem is I do not have the support to stay on track at home. My husband is in bad shape as well but we are never in on the same page when it comes to getting in shape. I will start and he is bad and by the time I loose it he tries to be good :scared: Hopefully with the boards I will find the support I need.

Good Morning!
Kristin -- :welcome: It is hard to lose when your spouse is not on the same page. My dh has a thin body type, and when he does gain, he loses it all within two weeks. It's hard, but lately if he's selecting something unhealthy for his dinner (i.e. fast food burgers or chicken), I have a salad, soup, or frozen dinner. We do not have to eat the same meal. We have a ds9, and sometimes all three of us eat a different meal -- or a different variation of a meal. If we make baked chicken, ds and I have it plain, dh will add a sauce, we'll have a couple of vegetables and I'll have a salad, ds will have real ice cream for dessert, I'll have a WW dessert, and dh might make some pasta for him and ds...It's taken me awhile, but I am starting to be responsible for what I put in my body. DH is a grown man who can take care of himself, and I have to focus on me, or else I won't reach my goals. :goodvibes I'm looking forward to learning more about you! This is a really fun thread with tons of support, and we are all help as much as we can!:grouphug:
Mandy -- I'm so sorry you aren't feeling well! I wish you tons of antibodies, and a speedy recovery princess: Colds are the worst, because they just linger...and they make you tired and cranky (or is that just me?:rolleyes1 )
I didn't do my TM time last night. I just felt so tired, I really think I needed the rest (on my couch, watching the Red Sox) more. I am determined to spend at least 45 minutes on the TM tonight, and I'm crossing my fingers for a good weigh-in tomorrow.
I'm also saving some points for when I make my candy bags for Halloween. I plan to put them together while I'm watching Game 2 of the World Series tonight, and I'm sure a stray Reese's might find it's way into my mouth. My rule is -- only one. That way I can enjoy a little treat, but I don't do scary damage!
My dh said this morning he hopes it pours for Halloween. He just doesn't want to spend all evening taking ds trick-or-treating, and he doesn't like the mob that descends on our house. I actually hope they do come -- although I am sending any leftovers to work with dh! I have a plan to keep the candy to a minimum.
Anyone else have any strategies for avoiding the pitfalls of Halloween?:scared1:

OK, I have decided that I need to join again! I did get lower than 150 about 2years ago, but long story short, for various reasons I kind of gained the weight back!! I'm not sure of my current weight, (guessing around 205lb!!) I intend to weigh myself tomorrow and start my diet then. Today DH and I have planned our weekly menu for next week and I intend to keep a food diary and count weight watchers points from tomorrow (I know this method works for me as that is how I lost the weight before.) I currently wear UK size 18 clothes, although these are a very snug fit! (a US 16 I think) and want to slim down to get into a UK size 14 by August ready for our 3 week American adventure. Although that is not my final goal, I want to eventually get down to 125lb.
Now my current problem seems to be lack of motivation, I know I need to loose weight, I have been trying, sticking to it for a week or 2 and them just giving up. I should be motivated as I want to look good in my trip photos next year, but just can't seem to keep the motivation up at the moment. I guess posting here is a step in the right direction at least!!
Thanks for reading, Karen

Good Afternoon!
Well, it was another bust of a weekend. I did get in a workout Sunday, so that's something. And both my Red Sox and Patriots were victorious, so it's hard to feel too down...
I'm eating well and hope to walk after work. I am just worn out from staying up late too often in the past week. I'm hoping things will quickly settle back to normal this week. It would help if I wasn't getting up in the dark. I don't know why Daylight Savings Time was delayed this year, but I don't like it...:sad2:
Karen Welcome Back! I'm so glad you decided to join us! :cheer2: I've decided that shorter goals are better for me -- I do better when I try to lose 5 lbs, because that is realistic. I should lose about 60, and thinking about it that way is too much. My goal between Halloween and Thanksgiving (that's Nov. 22nd) is to lose 5 lbs. I hope others will join me! What a great way to kick off the holiday season! I had a goal to lose 10 by Halloween, and I'm not quite going to make that, but I think I'll be close (probably about 8).
Kristin, Mandy, Dona -- How's it goin'? Are you ready for a Happy Halloween? I made my candy bags, and I'm ready for the munchkins to appear. pirate:

Welcome to all the new people.:welcome: :welcome: It is nice to meet new people. When I get a chance this week I will introduce myself.
What a day yesterday. Church, breakfast, nursing home, groceries and then popcorn take in. I yelled at the pain from bs because she had the nerve to mess up three orders and then came at 2:50 with over 3000 worth of sales to get straightened out. I should have told her to take the popcorn and show up on Monday night but I didn't. I did yell about the mess that she was giving me. It took me over an hour to straighten out the mess and I still don't think it is right. I have to look it over again tonight. I shouldn't have lost my temper but I did. But she had a heck of a nerve to come at 10 to 3 when she knows that it said 1 to 3. She ruined my evening last night she can't ruin my day.
I got up this morning and did 20 minutes walkingand the knee is feeling pretty good. My eating has been terrible but that will change today. I have 7 weeks un til the end of the challenge. I need to get back into the weight loss mode. Exercise needs to be #1 on my schedule.
Off to work.
Food for the day
Breakfast cereal milk, tea, banana
Snack kashi bar
lunch chili snow peas pear
Snack apple
Dinner pork, lo mein and beef with broccolli
ice cream cake for dh's birthday
Exercise 20 minutes walking
I am now heading home to a very messy house. I need to clean the kitchen since there is a sink full of dishes since I lost an hour of time I could have been doing something at the house to Boy Scout popcorn yesterday. I do want to get some time in on my exercise bike since I don't feel like walking.
I still have to buy halloweeen candy. I don't get paid until the 31st so I only buy it on my way home from school. The last couple of years we have not had too many kids so I only buy a few bags. Mostly what ds2 will eat.
Maria I love the new mantra "patience and persistence. With these two qualities, we will all reach our goals!"
Let's keep these in mind
Have a great evening.

Thanks for the welcome guys,
So l weighed myself this morning and I was 203lb so my guess was close enough!!
I too have decided on smaller goals, here in the UK we weigh ourselves using stones and pounds (so my weight is 14stone 7lb as there are 14lb to a stone) so I have decided to reward myself after loosing each stone. And just as a bit of motivatin I have decided to reward myself after loosing the 1st 7lb. So I have decided when I reach 14 stone I will buy myself a pair of suede alice crocs. Once I have ordered those I will then decide what my next treat will be.
So I have been good today. I have stuck to my food plan and have not had any snacks. I'm just about to do some excercise too, I have descovered the boxing challenges on my wii are a great work out as you have to do punching movements and jump around at the same time!!
I hope everyone else has a successful day.

Hi all, I would like to join this group too. I am in the same situation as danauk.
I am currently at 210 and would like to be back in the 150 range. Ultimately I would like to be in the 130 range. I was 154 when I got married 11.5 years ago and was sorta comfortable. Now I am just terribly uncomfortable, lazy and just can't move. My dr also said I have to lose weight, get my BP and cholesterol down.
My dh is also not good at supporting me. He buys tons of junk that neither me or the kids need. I keep telling him not to buy it, but he thinks he is "providing" for his family. He doesn't eat it so it doesn't seem like a problem to him.
On the good side, I have joined LAFitness, hired a personal trainer for 12 sessions and am consulting with a nutritionist. I am also in the monthly excercise challenge group and that is motivating. I have found some water classes at the club that I really enjoy and that is a great beginning for me.
I look forward to "meeting" you all.

Welcome Cruisin Ears :welcome: :welcome: You and I are at the same place. SOme days this thread is more active than others.
Good Wednesday Morning Not so busy day at school but a very busy day after school. We had school on Mond and Wed of this week and then we are off until next Tues so a lot of parents take this week off and take the kids out of school.
Senior Fashio n show tonight. I was there for a few hours last night setting up and we finish the set up at 3 this afternoon. Then we have to be back there at 6. I can't stand these things. Too loud and my ds2 is not going to be modeling but he will be a runner with the prizzes. I also always lose at these things.
ENT doc appointment wasn't too bad. He wants he on antibiotics for another 10 days to make sure that we got everything. He also wants to check my blood glucose level. If that is off then I could be prone to more infections. Strange combination. He asked me if I had gained any weight. I haven't since last Feb but before that I had lost and gained 20 pounds. I thinkk I really need to get super back on track with my diet and exercise plan if there is connection.
Thanks geety for the pickle. We have a glass one that hangs on our tree every year. My dh is german and so we have been doing that since I found out about that tradition. Beside ds2 is a pickle freek. We can not keep a jar of pickles in the house once they have been opened. He has been given a 5 gallon jar twice as birthday presents since he loves them so much. So the pickle means a lot to me.
Have a losing day everyone.
Keep up the hard work

Good Thursday morning guys. I am sorry that I did not get back to everyone last night. Once I left school (and I ran out of the building as soon as the bell rang. I looked like one of the kids) I had a stop to make to get my blood work sheet from my doctor, a stop at a house to pick up gift baskets, a stop at my house to pick up brownies and then to the high school to finish setting up for the fashion show. Needless to say the lady who ran the gift baskets got no help from her committee so I made endless trips back and forth to the car to get them and then set up took forever because you never really know how much table space you need. We ended up adding two more tables before we could get it right.
Then I ran home and found out ds2 got into the college that he really wants to go to. :cheer2: :cheer2: He has not gotten his formal letter yet but he has been emailing the associate dean of the engineering dept and he emailed him with the good news last night. Then shower dinner and to the fashion show. It was everything I thought it would be and more. It was noisy and very few people helped with the gift baskets. (again the committee) I must have walked for over a half an hour moving gift baskets. Then after was take down and clean up. We had that all done in about 45 minutes But with all the help that I gave the gift basket lady she just left and never offered to help us with clean up.
The killer waas when I got ot my car my battery was dead. At least dh was there to help clean up and then drive me home. It is now in the shop.
Have a great day everyone.

Hello everyone!
So sorry I have been away. So many things going on with life. As a quick summary: 2 cousins passed away, childhood friend's DD passed away, aunt passed away, I had bronchitis and the chicken pox, I had a blood clot in the leg scare, I had a head injury at work that bleed like mad, visited DS and had a great time, dad had a lower abdomen cat scan--and they caught some of his lungs and now he will have a full cat scan of lungs to see how much of his lungs seem to have cancer, and last and probably the least--a large branch from one of our oaks fell on my car. Whew.
Now that I probably have more interest and sympanthy than I really deserve, we are all doing fine right now. I am much better, no clot, just a small cut that is healing on my head, and the car only recieved minor scrapes. Everyone else in the family--other than dad--is doing great. DS is having a good semster. Only calc is a bit of an issue.
DD and friends are here. Time to go for now.
Best to all.

Kristin I have the same problem w/ my DH... he needs to be on the wagon w/ me but it is so hard to get him on the same page.
I have been sort of taking a break from dieting over the last 2 months. Surprisingly, even with eating terrible and 2 WDW trips, I have only gained 6 lbs since the beginning of September.
I broke down this week and bought alli. I started it last night. I am 5'8" and weighed in this morning at 180.2, and I would like to be 145-150. I started in Feb at 218 and lost the 38 lbs through a 1200 calorie diet and lots of exercise. I am hoping that alli will help jumpstart me back so I can lose the remaining 30-35 lbs.

Hi Everyone!
I'm really focusing on training for the Disney Half rather than weight loss right now. I can't get injured or overextend myself, so I'm following a training plan. It's working out more days of the week, but doing different things and not as long.
That combined with all the calories I need to keep going are not helping me lose weight. I've sort of thrown in the towel until after the Half, at which time I expect to get going and make some progress again!
Paula -- :woohoo: Congratulations!
Grammy -- it takes awhile and we all have ups and downs, as long as quitting isn't an option, the only thing to do is keep going!:goodvibes

I did great on Alli... for the two weeks I stuck to it, and then Thanksgiving intervened and I have been having a tough time getting back to it.
Today I am trying, yet again, to get back on the wagon. On the good side of things, I haven't completely erased my earlier progress up until Sept 1. On the bad side, I have gained about 8 lbs back of the 45 I had lost.
I would love to lose weight in December, but I think that all I can reasonably hope for is to not gain. I am planning to be good for at least the next 2-3 weeks.
I went to the gym at lunch today, drank all my water, had a dietary lunch, and have dietary dinner plans, so at least I am good so far.

Hi Guys!
Still plugging away here getting ready for the Half Marathon, and I've started counting WW points again. I'm just hoping to be fairly steady until the 15th, and after the Race hoopla I'll get to working hard on finally getting to the size I want to be.
Nancy -- Welcome!
Kat -- Good to hear from you! This thread just needs a resurrection. When is your anniversary? We will be married 15 years on May 8th...
Everyone have an awesome day!
Maria
Ours is May 21st. We will be in WDW from May 17-24. Although, we are also taking a January trip this year, Jan 25-Feb 3, which is coming up very quickly.
This thread definitely needs resurrection. I weighed this morning and the number was abysmal. 28 lbs to go to break the 150s barrier... bleah. I gained over 10 lbs since my Sept weight (the lowest in 2007). I need to update my ticker but it is so depressing.
Good news though, that I have stayed completely on track since jumping back on the wagon on Wednesday... stayed at 1200 calories and been to the gym yesterday and today.
How is everyone else? Let's get this thread going!! :yay:

Woohoo!:woohoo:
I'm with you guys, let's get this thread going!
I took a nap this afternoon, and I'm a new woman, ready to do my five miles tomorrow. After that, no real workouts until the Half next Saturday. We leave for Disney on Thursday, but it just seems surreal. I actually said to my husband today that we are taking a vacation in a few days, we should be getting excited! I think we're just nervous about the race, and forgetting that's just one morning. The rest of the time we will be alone together:love:
We haven't had an "alone" trip in five years, and even though this is a short one, I am really starting to look forward to it!
So, after we get back and settled, I plan on getting very serious come the
17th!
Dona -- So good to hear from you, and thanks for the wonderful wishes!:cloud9: Ok, I know you are a Biggest Loser leader, I am just an admirer, so I have to ask what you think about the new season so far. I really never clicked with Kim, so I'm not sorry to see her gone. I love Bob, but I'd have to train with Jillian. I would be afraid not to lose the weight!
Kat -- Lucky you, what fabulous trips you have planned! We were going to do a 15th anniversary trip to San Francisco, but now I think we'll be waiting until 2009. We are just burnt out from vacationing, and we need to stay home and get some things done around the house. We had to get a new backyard fence, new roof...our bank account needs to recover.
How about we get things rolling with a "do it" for this year? Not a resolution, something you know you will do this year? I know that I will get more serious about my walking, and I plan to re-evaluate after the Half marathon. If that goes well, I'm going to push dh to do the Full in 2009, but it's way to early to think about that until we finish the Half!:cool1: I've really enjoyed the challenge, especially in the recent weeks, of the training. I walked 10 miles Dec. 22nd, my longest distance ever. It was hard, but so satisfying to do it. I'm looking for those kinds of rewards to get me moving and losing!
Well, gotta wind this up. We're going to a Celtics game tonight. Have a great evening, and plan something fun to get moving tomorrow!

Maria Have fun at the Celtics game. My dh was a supper Celt fan when I met him 32 years ago. We took a trip to Boston in 1984 and I thought I would have to hold him in the car when we went by the old Garden. Just before the Garden closed I suggested to him that he take a trip and see it. He didn't want to. He thought it would ruin the illusion he had of the place.
I don't think I could work with Jillian. I like Bob's appraoch better. I don't respond to well to yellers. I am still on the fence about Kim. MY ds2 was surprised not to see Kiim back. Yes he and his friends watch the show and text each other to remind them that it is on.
HockeyKat
01-04-2008, 08:37 PM
I think I would do well with either... probably better with the Bob approach though.
My one thing would be to finally get down to a decent weight. I am so sick of being fluffy.
This is the end of a third good healthy day. I guess you have to start somewhere!

Hi Ladies!
I can't believe we leave for WDW in two days:figment:
I have a plan to get going on the weight loss when I return, slowly getting back to the longer workouts, and following WW.
It is what it is. I did not lose a ton of weight before this race, but that's ok. I am alot stronger and more fit than I was. I can walk 10 miles, which I couldn't do before. The weight loss will come when I can cut back on my protein and up the length of workouts again. I can and will do better, I just have to focus and not let anything get in my way!
I am going to get the 150s in sight, and keep going on my quest to be fit, fabulous and 40 (June 8th!).
Kat -- We do have to start somewhere, and at least it's not back at the beginning!:goodvibes
Dona-- The Celtics were a blast, we have a great time just watching the games. I try to ignore the Celtic Strip, um Dancers. It's a shame they couldn't afford costumes for them, because I think they probably could still hold the crowd's attention with their clothes on...:dance3:
I probably won't post much until the end of next week. Everyone keep on losing!

Hi Ladies!
I'm baaack! I am very proud to say that I did finish the Half Marathon, and in time to get my Donald medal. This was the greatest physical accomplishment of my life -- ok, I'm discounting giving birth, because I didn't train for that!:sad2:
Next year I want to be much leaner and finish faster. That means really applying myself to losing weight, so here I go!
tinker girl -- Welcome! We'll get this thread going now!
Kat -- I know you won't kill this one -- the 150s Club will never die!:woohoo:
Dona -- Can you believe I did it?! I bought a very small Figment for my desk, to remind me that I can imagine anything, and it can happen!:thumbsup2
Today I'm doing 30 minutes on the TM, and I'm counting points. I'm just going to plug away for a week or so, and see where I am. I think my weight right now isn't reliable -- too much going on for the last week.
We had a great time staying at POR, and just a fantastic trip overall. I highly recommend it -- if a Half seems too daunting, they have a 5K...:wizard:

Hi Dona!
It really is a matter of training. I'm 50 lbs. overweight, and I managed to do it. If I hadn't followed the program increasing my mileage and long walks, I couldn't have done it.
Thanks for the support, it is a great feeling. I highly recommend registering for some sort of event, and then training. I'm still having trouble with eating right, but I think I get a little better every day because I have a goal.
Goodnight!

Good Morning!
I did my half hour on the TM last night, and I was pretty good about counting points. Today I'm doing a half hour on the stationary bike, and hopefully 2 miles tomorrow. I feel good until and during exercise, but afterwards I realize how sore I still am. But that's ok, I don't dare stop or I might stay that way. In my case, a body at rest tends to stay at rest...:rotfl:
I'm looking for a 5K to do when it warms up. There's no way I'm doing an event in New England before April. Too dicey!
I got a look at my photos, and they are sobering. I'm so proud of my accomplishment, but so embarrassed when I see how big I am. My face didn't used to be round...sigh. Anyway, I really want to be a different person physically in six months, so I'm going to start making better choices. :thumbsup2 I'm going shopping when I leave work today, and I'll stock up on yogurt and other friendly foods.
Everyone have an awesome day!

Hi everyone!
Hope you don't mind if I join in.
I am shooting for 155lbs. I started Weight Watchers in November, but I have gone only sporadically. I have lost about 60lbs since Sept 2006. I am doing it slowly and it's up and down, but it is the first time I have ever stopped myself when I start gaining and start again. Several times I have gained up to 10-15lbs back, but I start again. I am now about 7lbs away from what my lowest weight has been. I gained about 15lbs from November-December. I think in about 10lbs I'll be the lowest I have been since High School!
Overall I have about 40lbs left to go. I try to look at how far I have come and not how far I still have to go.
I signed up for the Disneyland 1/2 Marathon. I have never run before. Though I plan to run/walk. My knees I don't think would hold up to all running, I have a bit of arthritis and my patella doesn't line up correctly so they crunch a bit. I just started Marathoning For Mortals. I am on the 2nd week. Though I didn't do my time last night. I made the mistake of leaving my trainers (weight workout) and stopping for dinner. I am better off if I just eat something light and get on the treadmill as soon as I get home. If I give myself rest time, there is a great chance I won't do it.
Have a great day!

I used Marathoning for Mortals to train for the DisneyWorld Half, and it worked, so I highly recommend it!
I did my half hour on the stationary bike, so tomorrow it's two miles on the TM. We still have too much ice to walk outside, at least for me. I'm a total weather wimp!
I've done better with eating, I'm weaning myself off an eat anything I want post-race binge. I figure by Monday I will have it well in hand.

Good Morning, Ladies!
I just did my two miles, so I'm good on the exercise front for today. DH and I sat down and made menus through Thursday, with WW recipes for entrees each night. This is going to be my most WW week in a long time, which is good, I need it!
I have breakfasts and lunches planned too, and I have a new strategy -- I'm going to make myself eat more points during the day, and cut myself off after dinner. I have a bad habit of eating dinner, then snacking all night. I cut ds off after dinner, so why not me?! In the past I would save a ton of points, but then it just wouldn't be enough. I was so hungry, I'd eat all night. I'm going to try it this week and see what happens. I even bought desserts, so I will have something extra yummy. WW Key Lime Pie, Mint chocolate chip sundaes, and Skinny Cow vanilla w/caramel ice cream cones -- how can I go wrong?!
Rachel -- Good luck with your weigh-in! I am back to my pre-trip weight (I gained 1.5 lbs), so I hope for a big improvement next Saturday!
Have an awesome day!

Just a quick check-in -- I'm home for the holiday, so I'm catching up on some laundry and working through a list of things I need to do. I'm also scheduled for 40 minutes on the TM, but I think that will have to come later in the day.
Today is my first official -- not eating after dessert day. Yesterday's eating was weird -- we had brunch out, then WW stuffed peppers, then I ate way too much cheese during the NFC championships. We only saw half of the Pats game, because we went to Spamalot (which I highly recommend!). It was just a weird eating today. Today will be much more normal. I had a bowl of Kashi GoLean Crunch for breakfast, and we're having WW pot roast for dinner. Gotta love those recipes!
Rachel -- The Heath bars sound delicious, I love toffee and chocolate!

I've been tracking my points all day. I'm having WW pot roast and mashed potatoes for dinner, and then a dessert.
Last night I ate nothing after my dessert, which was really tough. That's one night down! I'm sure it will get easier. I do better when I don't watch tv, so I guess the writers strike is a blessing! And I feel to guilty to eat during the Biggest Loser, so that also helps! :)

Yay for your 40 minutes!!!! I totally know what you mean about wanting to munch in front of the tv... I find myself mindlessly reaching for food when I watch tv.
Work is almost done then its off to the gym to do 30 minutes on the elliptical machine and do weight training on my shoulders, chest and triceps. I did 30 minutes on the elliptical last night. :woohoo:
Dinner tonight will either be Turkey Italian Sausage, Turkey breast or Subway... Not sure which.

I was at meetings today and never made it in to the office, so no time at the computer for me...
Anyway, I figured out why I've been so hungry. TOM appeared with a veangance. I'm a little early, I think the Half Marathon messed my body up a bit. I guess it's just confused:confused3
It makes me feel so much better, because I couldn't figure out how I could be doing most things right and then gain 2.5 lbs overnight!
Tomorrow I should feel back to normal, so I'll plan on my 3-mile walk. We don't cook on the weekends, so I guess I'd better reacquaint myself with that Subway menu!
Tomorrow night we have a fundraiser dinner/dance for ds9's school. The menu isn't all that friendly, but the food's also not that good, so I'll be ok. I'll be eating smaller portions by choice, trust me:rolleyes1
Have a great evening!

Well I ended up being sick most of yesterday which sucked but on the plus side since I couldn't stomach much food I ended up losing weight and I am now down to 236.6! woo hoo!
*MONDAY UPDATE*
I knew it was too good to be true and because I think I weighed on a completely empty stomach on Sunday I gained .8 lbs today. I didn't cheat or anything yesterday I just think it was a bit of a fluke yesterday morning. So I am 237.4. Not a biggie but still a bummer :( Oh well just means I need to work harder at the gym today!!!
I hope every one had a good weekend!
Have a magical day!

Good Morning , 150's Club!:woohoo:
It's the start of a new week, and almost a new month, how are we doin'?
Anyone want to issue a challenge for February? Any plans for Lent? I'm mulling over what to give up. We always give up Fast Food, but I'm thinking of adding one of my seven deadlies -- I wonder if the world is ready for me to give up chocolate or popcorn?!
I am having a personal day today. I had a crazy busy weekend, and I am just bushed. I just slept eleven hours, so I feel a little jetlagged but a lot better. I really, really did not want to go to work Thursday, so I'm going to take care of me today and emerge with a better attitude tomorrow.
We had ww pot roast w/carrots and potatoes last night, and so key lime pie for dessert. Yum!
I'm staying off the scale until TOM goes. It's just better. I get upset for no reason, and then I do crazy food things. It's not rational, but at least I know how to avoid it.
Anyway, after I wake up I'll hit the TM. Right now I'm going to take care of household chores and catch up on the DIS. That seems to be a good way to shake the cobwebs out of my head!:upsidedow

Good Morning/Afternoon! I think for February we should challenge ourselves to not eat the Valentines candy... lol! I won't even let myself go down the isle at Walmart for fear of temptation... :scared1: I hope everyone is having a good day!!!

Would love to join and get to 150 again. Started on Nutrisystem a few months ago and lost 28 lbs so far. Started slowly getting myself off of it over the past month and what i really learned most was portion control. Nutrisystem was the jump start i needed to get myself motivated, but knew i couldnt stay on it forever. I also joined a gym and for Christmas my dh got me a personal trainer for 16 sessions. Feeling much better and ready to hit my goal!

Welcome Samroc!
I hope you guys are having a better week than I am. I caught a stomach bug, and it hasn't been pretty. I must be losing weight, 'cause nothing was staying where I put it. On the bright side I'm much better now, and planning to do my normal workout tomorrow. Slower, but for the right amount of time.
Everyone have a great evening!

Hi Ladies!
I've been slowly getting back into eating and exercise. I should be full strength on both by Monday. I guess we'll see what the scale says tomorrow. I don't think I've actually lost much, but I do think I'm tightening up a bit.
tinker girl -- We all have to have a favorite team, glad to see you've found the one you love! I will be trying to keep the eating to a dull roar Sunday night. I love the SuperBowl!
Sarah -- I hope you continue to feel better.
SamRoc -- Hope you're not a Giants fan, I'd hate to see you get depressed *giggles*
Ok, it's a new month. DH and I are starting Lent early today. We're giving up fast food, and I'm giving up candy. If anyone else celebrates Lent, are you giving up or adding anything?
Have a great losing day!

Thats been the tough part, my trainer wants me to drink more than 8 glasses a day. Would love to see 150 again this year!

Good Morning, Ladies!
Sigh. There is no joy in Mudville...there just seems to be a general malaise in the air today. Lots of sadness for our Patriots...
Anyhoo, I was somewhat contained last night. I had nachos, but skipped the pizza. I'm considering that a success.
tinker girl -- a half pound is a half pound! That is not bad! A loss is a loss. Plus, TOM makes everyone crazy. I'm proud of you for losing!
Sarah -- Congratulations, you are doing great! :woohoo: Fantastic loss!
Samroc -- Well, now I guess I can concentrate on basketball. Finally, my Celtics are something to write home about!:dance3:
I'm scheduled for an hour on the TM after work today. I did 4 miles Saturday, and didn't feel quite right in my tummy so I didn't push it. I went slower than usual. I'm hoping to be back up to normal speed today.
Everyone have a great, losing day!

I went to the gym today and did 45 minutes on the elliptical machine. Thats a great improvement for me because when I joined a few months ago, I could only do 3 minutes!

I am sorry to be the bearer of not so happy news here. I know this thread has been a joy to many of you. With the recent announcement, this is one of the threads that will be closed. If you want to start another 150 Club thread and put in a link on this one as a forward I will wait a bit and then close this.

1. Threads will be closed at 250 pages (3750 posts)
2. Any existing thread over 250 pages will be locked as is.
3. The really long threads that were removed will come back over the next week or so. I have to shut the boards down to cut them up so I will try to do it during "off hours". We are also trying index them so people will be able to reference them.
I hope everyone is enjoying the much faster boards!

I would like to join this board, I need to lose 50 pounds to get to 150 pounds. I haven'y been feeling well the last couple of weeks and have been recently been put on high blood pressure medicine. I am going to have to do something with my health, and losing weight would probably be the best remedy for my body. I am welcome to any suggestions as to what plan has worked for so many of you, I don't know if I am committed to weight watchers with a weekly meeting. I am gone from my home 12 hrs a day with the commute, and honestly tired some nights when I get home at 6pm, considering I wake every morning at 4:30 am. My job is probably no more stressful than moat of the working women today I am in upper mgt for the govt and I am 46 years old. I probably am babbling on... any suggestions would be helpful

Thanks, tinker girl! I found the new thread, and that's where I'll be posting. I'm sad to see this version end. I've been here for a long time...but I'm glad we get a new lease on life, and a new chance to add some more posters!
May the original 150s Club thread RIP, it's been so good to many of us!
