okee dokee... after reading a bunch of the journals, and having been inspired daily (sometimes hourly) by the WISH posts, I have decided to write my very own journal. Mind you, I'm not very eloquent, but I need to do this to keep myself accountable. Here's my background for those that want to keep reading :) - I started WW on April 2, 2002 after finding out my dad had diabetes (already knew Mom had it), and going to the doctor for a physical only to hear "you are morbidly obese and on a collision course with diabetes." Those words are permanently imprinted in my head, and I never want to hear them said about me again!!! My doctor told me to go to WW, but I was a very shy wallflower, weighing in at 278 pounds. I was not going anywhere by myself, let alone to stand on a scale in front of some stranger... So, my wonderful DH said he would go with me and we would do it together. :love2: After a few months of doing great, we got pregnant, so I had to take a maternity leave from WW. I returned in June 2003 (usually toting my sweet little boy in the stroller), and continued my weightloss. Well, October 21, 2004, I hit my goal of 155 pounds, and reached lifetime on December 2, 2004. That day, I was interviewed to become a receptionist for WW. Yea!!! I'm now 132 pounds down, and working for them, hopefully helping others achieve their goals and dreams - doing what they thought was impossible and creating a new, healthy life. As part of my struggle to get those last few pounds off, I decided to take up running last May. I started with the couch to 5K program on coolrunning.com - it takes you from just walking to running a 5K in 9 weeks. I got addicted to the races, and signed up for the Disney 1/2. My goal was to make lifetime by the end of 2004, and to reward myself, I wanted to finish the half marathon - to do the absolute impossible!!! What an amazing day - as soon as I finished, I said to my DH (who was rather winded from running with our DS strapped to his back in a backpack, trying to find me at all the spectator viewing spots to take pictures) I'm coming back next year!!!! Well, we are now both training to do the FULL in 2006!!! :Pinkbounc

Fast-forward a bit to where I am now. I seem to have lost a bit of my momentum without an immediate goal in sight - weighing in each week, the half coming soon, etc. That combined with a bit of pms-ing  has left me eating everything in sight - mostly bread, cereal, snacks, etc that are supposed to be for my son. :rolleyes1 Well, today my jeans were VERY tight! This is a huge problem because I donated all my larger clothes - building my (Dr. Phil-ism) no-fail environment. I'm actually up 5 pounds since Sunday - UGH!!! I know alot is water, but I can't make excuses. I have to get back on track. I need to be honest and accountable. Today I had a mini-binge after breakfast - I ate a great breakfast with an egg white omelete, then just started eating bagels, froot loops, rice krispie bar... Anyway, I did better at lunch - went to Atlanta Bread with DH and had the french onion soup with the bread. Got the munchies a bit ago, but managed to stop it with some 94%FF popcorn (not the healthiest, but not a binge...) So, tonight for dinner, I'm cooking up some cabbage, kidney beans, and chicken. (Getting low on food supplies after all the eating these past few days...)

So, there's me. I love the WISH boards, and I'm looking forward to journalling so that I can see in writing exactly what I'm doing. No more excuses - it's back to the program! On a plus note, yesterday I ran/walked 4 miles, and today I walked 3 miles with DS in the stroller. I have a 10K this Saturday, so maybe that will also kick my rear in gear! :p

Anyway, if you are still reading - thank you!!! You all have been so inspiring, and I look forward to getting to know you all better as we journey together. And I promise the rest of my journals will not be nearly as long (I hope...)

Hi There,

I just wanted to Welcome you to the WISH Journals. I also want to congratulate you on your incredible weight loss.

I am really impressed that you are taking control after a 5 pound gain. That is the way to keep the weight off for good.

Have a great day,
Beth

Beth - thanks for the encouragement!!! :flower:
Well, here is the first installment for today. I got up at 4:30am and was out the door running at 4:45 - UGH! Anyway, it felt good, and I ran 3.3 miles until the fog was so thick I couldn't see anymore, then walked another 1/4 mile back home. I ate a couple slices of the WW whole wheat bread after the run, and felt fine - no binge urges - yea!!! Today is a new day with new goals - today I will be aware of everything I eat, and make every bite count - no mindless munching. I will also concentrate on lots of water - no sodas. My next race is this Saturday (10K), so I need to stay focused!

:cool1: until later...

Ugh! The day is only half over, and I have already eaten several unnecessary things. I know I'm a stress eater, and I had already decided when I saw how my day started (with DS sick all over his crib...) that I was NOT going to stress-eat today. I would calm myself down, chew a piece of gum, tap on the 'puter - something to keep my hands out of the cereal. Oh well, we are back from the doctor with some meds, and I can still eat well for the second half of the day! Off to check on DS...

The rest of yesterday went fairly well. I stayed within my points, and only ate 1 of my activity points! :cool1: Today is a rest day for activity (although if it is not raining, I may take DS out for a short walk in the stroller). I have the 10K tomorrow, so will try to eat balanced meals today, but not necessarily high protein (need those carbs for extra energy tomorrow!) So, to anyone that might be reading, have a wonderful day! I'm off to a yummy breakfast of an egg white omelet with cheese and mushrooms, and a roasted onion bagel (1 pt - alternative bagel by western bagel). Happy WISH-ing! :wizard:

Good luck tomorrow! 132 pounds - wow! Way to go - that is so inspirational! The only way I can keep from eating DD's treats is to keep them in the car - she gets one on the way home from daycare and I don't end up eating Shrek Fruit Bursts or Smarties before I am fully awake in the morning and know what I am doing, or when I am "sleepwalking"! Let us know how the race went! :cheer2:

Thank you so much for the encouragement Alysa, Tracy (pettyone), Tracy (toystoryduo), and Beth! And Alysa - good idea about keeping the snacks in the car. I have all of DH's snacks locked under one of the cabinets where I never go, so maybe I could do that with DS's snacks - out of sight, out of mind. ;)

I had another attack of the mindless munchies yesterday. :guilty: I guess I was reasoning that DS, who is a VERY picky eater, doesn't like these (rice krispie granola bars, corn chex, etc.), so I need to get rid of them (of course throwing them in the garbage would have been a better option...) Oh well, the good news is that all the snacks he won't eat are gone, and I can consider it carbo-loading for today's race.

I'm off to shower and get ready for the race. It's in the low 50's, but drizzly and rainy. Prayers for sunshine (or at least no rain) around 8am would be appreciated greatly! :teeth: I'll check in later with a race report!

Happy WISH-ing and have a great weekend!!! :wizard:

Hi Jen - thanks for the welcome, and I'm glad you are feeling better! :flower:

I am back from the race, and I felt really good about it! I picked up my friend Valerie at 6:45. We got to the race which was in a very nice housing subdivision around 7:15am, picked up our packets, and wandered around until race time. The race was benefitting the Candlelighters - they help kids who have cancer, and was sponsored by the local hopsital, doctor's group, and the massage school (free massages....) :teeth: It was very chilly while we were waiting, so I had on pants and my Disney 1/2 shirt, but NO RAIN!!! :sunny: There were probably around 250 - 300 runners, and we started right on time. My first mile was 10:30 - great pace for me. I felt great while running, although partway through I was wishing for shorts and a tank top, but VERY grateful that it wasn't raining! I was trying to run 8 minutes, walk for 2, but adjusting for a couple of the water stops. Anyway, Valerie's friend from work, Shannon, was right in front of me for most of the first 4 miles. She started adding walks at that point, and I got in front of her. Then, I just tried to concentrate on good form and controlling my breathing until I saw the 6 mile mark. At that point, it was an all-out sprint for me. There was one lady in front of me that decided to sprint with me, but I managed to out run her! :cool1: I saw the clock ahead and was booking it, only to see them turn it off... and then I realized that was the 5K clock, and mine was a few yards further - so I ran faster! I saw 1:06 and some seconds, and tried to will the clock not to hit 1:07... But I crossed the line at 1:06:40 - less than 11 minutes per mile - a new record for me in anything over a 5K - YIPPEE!!!! Needless to say, I was ecstatic! I waited for Shannon who was a minute behind me, and then saw Valerie coming in before I headed for some fruit. We waited through all the door prizes, but didn't win any... and then waited for the results. Most of the other races I've done around here have a board posting so you can see if you need to stay, but not this one. They read all the 5K's first, then did the 10K men, then finally got to the 10K women. I didn't place in my age group, but I ended up 4th! My next 10K is February 19th, and my new goal is to try to get in under 64 minutes. By the 10K in March, I would love to be in under an hour... of course that one is over the causeway, and I've never done hills, but hey, you gotta have goals!!!

Well, that was my morning. I've eaten pretty well today - having some tummy troubles from the heat this morning, but starting to feel better. I hope everyone has a super WISH weekend! :wizard: Have fun!

It's Sunday, and today was a great eating day - 100% on program - YEA!!! :teeth: I have decided that this is my week to really stay focused. All of the icky stuff is out of the house, and no more excuses! I will be doing the "flore" plan - eating core foods, but still journaling every bite and doing the points as if it were flex. I just can't trust myself right now to stop eating when "satisfied". So, that is my plan.... I even told DH, and he has agreed (with a little too much pleasure...) that he will hold me accountable this week. :flower:

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I will check in again tomorrow! ;)

Lynnda,
What a great journal!!! Congtas on that weight loss!! WOW!!!! Kudos to you!!! Iam waffling between SBD and thingking about doing WW again......any info you can give me about the core program would be much appreciated!!

Sounds like you have had quite the productive weekend. Great job on the 10K!! You have gven me some insiration for my first 5K in April...but I will be walking it!! Someday I may run.

I think we both started out at aobut the same weight. I am at 263 now and working on getting down to at least 150....but that is too huge for me to phathom, so I am jsut taking it day by day. But thanks for the inspiration...I could never even imagine being under 200 pounds!!

Have a great week!! Enjoy your healthy snaks!!
Thanks for sharing your story!!!

Jen - Thanks for being a great cheer leader!!! Your encouragement means so much! :)

Liz - thank you so much for the kind words! I would love to talk to you some more about WW and core. I will try to PM you - I'm new to all this, so if it doesn't work, I'll leave you another message here... ;) You can definitely lose the weight. It's just baby steps - try not to look at how far you have to go, but what you need to do to take that next step each day, each minute, etc. Pretty soon all those baby steps add up to great weight loss! And congrats on training for the 5K - that is an awesome goal! Once I did that first 5K, I was totally hooked. (I think my competitive spirit came out a bit!) And, who knew I could actually be athletic??? :teeth:

Well, today is Monday, and the day is going great! I took DS over to feed the ducks at the park (running after DS who was running after duckies... that should count for activity points!) Then, we went by the pet store to get dog food and look at all the cute furry things (behind the glass they are adorable; running around your house - not so cute...) We went to the grocery store and stocked up on yummy, healthy snacks and lots of veggies - yea! Once I got home, I promptly divided all my snacks into individual servings and put them in zippie bags. No more taking a handful out of the bag/box! So, I now have 10 points left for the day. Dinner will be Spaghetti Bolognese out of the WW turnaround cookbook (core), and that leaves me with 2 points for an evening snack! :cool1:

Hope everyone is having a super spiffy day! Happy WISH-ing! :wizard:

Tuesday morning - bright and early... I got up at 4:45, and was out the door running by 5am - yea!!! I had planned on doing speedwork (wind sprints)rather than working on distance. I was just going to warm up with a nice relaxed run. However, I got to about 8 minutes of running and decided to run a little farther at that pace. Once I got to about 11 minutes, I decided - might as well finish off the 2 miles at this pace. So, I ran for two miles and walked 1/2 mile, then did some arm and ab work once I got home. Temp said 48 degrees... we are supposed to have a cold front rolling in tomorrow, so my next run may be a bit nippy! :cold:

Anyway, same plan for eating today - still journaling but eating off the core list. Tonight will be steak, steamed broccoli, and corn or baked potato... yummy! :flower:

Happy WISHing to all who might be reading! :wizard:

Tuesday night - Today was another great eating day, although I did eat 3 points worth that were not core - all of them WW cereal. We'll see what the high carbs do to my weight tomorrow... :confused3

I had the sweetest lady come up after the WW meeting tonight to say she couldn't imagine 130 pounds on me. Fortunately, I had my before and after pictures in my purse. :teeth: She said some very sweet things, and kept saying how much I reminded her of her daughter. Anyway, it's amazing how much compliments mean to us. I want to make a point of complimenting and encouraging at least 5 people tomorrow while I'm at church. I know I could not have gotten this far on my journey had it not been for some cheerleaders along the way. So, for anyone reading this - YOU CAN DO IT!!! You are doing GREAT!!! Stay focused and keep your eyes on the prize - this is a lifestyle change, not just a temporary diet. :cheer2: Woo-Hoo!! Let's WISH together!!!

Awwww... you all are so sweet - I'm sitting here getting all sappy over your posts!!! :teeth: Thank you!!!!!!!

I would love to share my before and after pics, but I'm really not technically minded. I will have to ask DH tonight how to make that happen. I think if I tried, I would :badpc: and DH would be VERY unhappy!!! :rotfl:

So, today is Wednesday, and it is going very well still! I got on the scale this morning, and I am about 3.5 pounds away from my lowest weight, and about 6 pounds below where I was at the beginning of last week - YEA!!! I knew it was alot of water retention, but not fitting into my clothes really freaked me out!!!!! I also want to be far enough under my official goal weight that I don't have to worry about what clothes I wear to weight-in! And probably most important, I'm feeling alot more in control this week! Yippee!!!

Breakfast was a little smaller than normal because I knew I was going to pick up DH for lunch. Took DS on a long walk - 50 minutes before he started getting too ansy. For lunch, we ate at Chili's, and I had the guiltless chicken platter, but subbed the steamed broccoli/carrots for both the rice and the grilled veggies. Yummy - lots of veggies (it also came with corn on the cob), and some good grilled chicken! Dinner will be small - probably just veggies and maybe a boca burger. I don't have to worry about the evening munchies tonight because I have choir practice, and it's too late to eat when I get home - Yea!!!

So - there's my day. My dad is on his way over so we can practice - I have to accompany his tuba solo on Sunday. :rockband: I will have more time to read all of the other posts this evening. I will check in with you all later! Remember - YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!!

Happy WISHing!! :wizard:

Mornin' all!!! :sunny: I set the alarm for 4:30am so I could be running at 4:45, only to find that it was completely FOGGED in - I couldn't even see the house across the street! :sad2: I've done some stupid things in my life, but I am smart enough to know not to run in the fog and the dark (oh, and it was sprinking..) too dangerous! Waaaah!!! However, the weather man said tomorrow morning will be clear and cool - perfect running weather. :cool1: Yippee!!! (Besides that extra sleep was wonderful!!!) I think today I will do a WATP tape during DS's nap. Before I would have taken a day of rest, but I've got to get in my 1000 minutes for the Feb exercise challenge! If you haven't joined, yet - there's still time! Get up and move!!!! :dancer:

Well, got on the scale this morning - down another pound!!! Woo-Hooooo!!! And I think my sugar cravings have really subsided! :mickeybar It didn't bother me to give DS's leftover fruit loops to the dog yesterday - that's a big accomplishment!!!! Gotta love "flore"!

I hope everyone has a super day!!! Thanks again, Beth, for the congrats! :goodvibes Practice went well last night, although I think I got more encouraging words than I gave... :flower: Oh - I have to share one more story - I walked into the choir room last night to hear "Hey, there's my mentor..." It was from a dear sweet lady who had joined WW the week before Thanksgiving after talking to me about it for a while. Well, she said she went back to the doctor for a physical, and she was down 30 points on her cholesterol, 60 points on her triglycerides, and the doctor cut her blood pressure medicine in HALF!!! And, she is down 21 pounds - Yea!!!! All you WISHers can do this too!!! Happy WISHing today! :wizard:

Yup - foggy! That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!! (Thanks sweet hubby for that comment...) :love2:

Beth - Thanks for backing me up (unlike my DH.... :rolleyes1 ) I am sooo nervous in the mornings about the cars - some people zip around the corners way too fast! I have to be honest and say that I didn't do the tape. I was soooo sleepy after lunch (too many carbs???) that I just napped while DS napped. Thanks for asking, though - please hold me accountable!!! :goodvibes

Well, I may not have exercised, but I did eat well today. :upsidedow I even experimented a bit at lunch - had a pita pizza with a little FF Italian dressing as the base, with sauteed (in Pam) spinach and mushrooms, topped with a little RF feta cheese. It was soooo yummy! The pita and the feta were not core, but everything else for the day was, except for some cereal. Yea!!!

Tomorrow evening, my uncle and aunt are coming in. I haven't seen them since my wedding 6 1/2 years ago. I can't wait for them to meet DS, get to know DH a bit better, and I doubt they will recognize me - too much fun!!!

The plan for the morning is to be up and running around 6:00am. DH has the day off, so I don't have to get up in the wee hours! :sunny: That should also give me some activity points for going out to dinner tomorrow night! Yea! I hope everyone had a great day! Happy WISH-ing tomorrow!!! :wizard:

I guess I should interject here before strange conclusions are drawn.

Wonderful DS had managed to get his pajama top contorted around his arm in an odd way that I had never seen before. I was sure it was something his mom taught him. So I wanted her in there to see if she would completely deny any knowledge. Which of course she did. :rolleyes1 Once DS finally got untwisted from his top (with a little screaming since he liked it that way) the world was at rest again.

Thanks Beth! I'm really excited about seeing my aunt and uncle - only a couple hours until they get here! :flower:

I will say that hubby is correct - my sweet little boy had managed to twist his PJ shirt all around his arm. Once I was sure that is couldn't get wrapped around his neck, I though it was soooo cute! :rotfl: I just get a little concerned when I'm called in to help in the mornings because last time, DS had made a bit of a mess all over himself and his crib... Unfortunately, (or fortunately for me... :rolleyes1 ), I was drying my hair and didn't hear the calls for help. DH did a great job getting everything taken care of and cleaned up! :love2: Good hubby!!!

As for the shoe, I finally found it in his clothes hamper. Why I didn't look there first, I don't know. He has a tendency to put everything in there! ;)

Well, breakfast and lunch went well. I'm snacking on some WW cereal now - the vanilla puffed something with almonds - very good, only 1 point, but I can never remember the name of it! Dinner is supposed to be at Texas Roadhouse - YUMMY!!!! - so that should be fine for choosing healthy foods. I just have to hold myself back from those wonderful yeast rolls with cinnamon butter...

Yea!!!! (wasn't sure how it would go as it was getting close to his bedtime!) We will see them tomorrow one more time before they head on to Orlando. Today, I ate my target points, all my activity points, and a couple flex points, but I would say that it was a good eating day. Little splurges are nice one in a while! ;) And, I found out one of my cousins (who I haven't seen in probably 15 years) is running, too. In fact she did a 15 mile race last weekend. I was telling my aunt about the Disney half and full, and she said she was sure Jana would come down next January - YEA!!!! That would be soooo great! :goodvibes Woo-Hooo!!!

Well, hope everyone had a great day - enjoy your weekend! Happy WISHing! :wizard:

Hi Lynnda (and DH) and Welcome to WISH!
I just read your journal and WOW! Congrats on your WW Success Story! I bet they love having you as a receptionist! What a great motivator you must be - just telling your story. :) Thanks for sharing it with us too!

I have to say, the more I read about your days, the more interested I am in the CORE or Flore plan. I might do some surfing to see if I can find some info on the CORE plan. It has definitely piqued my interest.

Congrats on your fantastic 10K! You did great!! I can't wait to read about your upcoming 10Ks! I bet you set new personal bests at each of them!

Hi Lynnda!

I'm glad to hear that dinner went well with your aunt and uncle. When we come to Florida, we have a ton of relatives we visit and it is always a good time catching up with them!

You are doing a great job with your training! Keep up the good work!

By the way, how is the weather in Florida? Today in Ohio it's supposed to be 50 degrees ( a virtual heat wave here! ;) ) and :sunny: . Makes me want to do some Disney dreaming. ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo :cloud9:

Terry - Thank you so much for the welcome!!! :teeth: Core is awesome, and I really like the flexibility of switching between the two different programs. I don't get bored with the food, and if I feel like I am being too restricted on the core plan, I just switch to the flex plan the next week. :teleport: I have to say I love being a receptionist for WW! This morning I started doing a new class, and the leader had me share my story. (I have to say I was a bit nervous talking in front of everyone!!! ) But they started asking questions, and it was like - wow, if I can inspire just one of them to realize their goal of being healthy, then all the bad days and setbacks along the way have been worth it! I think we actually learn more from the bad days than the good days... (which brings me to today......) :rolleyes1

Jen - Thank you so much for all your encouragement! I hope you have a great weekend, too!!! :goodvibes

Tracy - Thank you, also, for the kind words and encouragement!!! They mean so much to me! :teeth: The weather today was COLD :cold: (at least for me...) The high may have reached 60F, but it was soooo windy - it felt like it was in the upper 40's or low 50's every time I went out! Brrrrrr.... We just had a cold front come through, but tomorrow should be warmer, and by Wednesday, the high is supposed to be 77F! :sunny: Of course in the summer, when it is 100+F, I will be doing some northern dreaming!!!! :rotfl:

Well, that brings me to today's eating... I have been procrastinating writing this. I blew it, I know it, and I need to do better tomorrow (even though it is the Super Bowl!) ;) It started out great, but by lunchtime was headed the wrong direction... I took DS over to my parents around 11:00 to see my uncle and aunt again before they left. I had the meeting this morning, so breakfast was around 6:30am. I assumed we would be eating lunch around noon, so I wasn't too concerned. (I know, never make assumptions!) My sister and her family came down, too (they live 45 minutes away.) Well, everyone was talking and the kids were all playing, and nobody ever said anything about lunch. So, we didn't end up eating until 2:00, and my aunt and uncle decided they wanted something light, and sis and family were headed to Downtown Disney for Rainforest Cafe tonight (her FIL's 70th birthday), so they all wanted something light. Well, I was STARVING!!!!! I fed DS a little at the house, and started nibbling on his crackers and cereal (BIG mistake!) Then, we went to Quizno's for lunch. Well, I got the lite turkey on the flatbread (I figured it had to be less points than the regular wheat roll?????) and some baked lays (2 points), but I was still hungry! By the time we said our goodbyes and we got DS home and down for his nap, I just started eating everything in sight. I think I actually stopped around 9:45 tonight. DH didn't want dinner, so I didn't cook, and we didn't have leftovers, so it was cereal, fruity snacks, fruit roll-ups, cheese, a tortilla... you get the idea. So, my lesson for today (which I thought I had already learned) was "if you fail to plan, you plan to fail." I should have taken healthy snacks and eaten them when I first got hungry, or gone home to fix a larger, healthy (lots of veggies) meal. And, I should have had quick, healthy dinner things handy for the evening. My grocery list is made out for next week, and I am restocking my fridge, freezer, and pantry with good food choices! ::yes::

So, with that all said, I hope you all made better choices than I did today. I really am going to try to make good choices tomorrow without being too overly rigid. DH and I always do Super Bowl snacks throughout the game - a tradition for us, but the snacks have gotten alot healthier over the last couple of years. I want to enjoy the day (I LOVE football, but I love the commercials more!!!! :rotfl2: ) And I know that whatever has been done in two days can easily be undone over the next couple of weeks. Gotta think positive!!! :goodvibes

Have a SUPER day tomorrow!!! :wave2:

Thank you all for your sweet words!!! :flower: The weekend is over, and I can start again to have a great on-program week! I didn't even weigh this morning - I know it's up, but I had fun cooking and eating during the super bowl  and today is a new day! Breakfast went very well - I tried to have something different so did a boca burger on a lite english muffin with laughing cow light cheese spread (3 points and very satisfying - although not really core.) Lunch ended up a bit late because of needing to run lots of errands, and DS was great in all the stores, so I took him to Wendy's. (You say "Wendy's" and he immediately says "frosty"....) :p So I got him a kid's meal with a jr. frosty instead of a drink, and a small chili for me. He ate very well - most of the hamburger and all of the frosty, but decided today was not a fry day. So.... of course you can't throw out perfectly good french fries, and there are only a few in a small fry box.... so, yes, I ate the fries :rolleyes1 but they were good! :teeth: I did count everything, and with all that, the breakfast, and my mid-morning snack, I have a whopping 3 points left for dinner. :rotfl: However, I can do some activity and get a few more points, and I have plenty of 0 point veggies to fill me up already cooked. I can do this! :flower:

Thanks again you all for being great cheerleaders!!! :cheer2: Happy WISHing!!! :wizard:

It's amazing what a little exercise and fresh air will do for you! So, in case you are reading this and pondering that little walk - YOU - GET UP and GO!!! :teeth:

Lynnda,
As you probably know days like these past ones will happen - it just how we recover from them that's important! ::yes:: Smart idea to earn some APs and use them. Do you still get 35 flex points with the CORE program? I would love to learn more about it.

Yesterday was finishing just fine - had lots of zero points veggies. However, the munchies hit about 8:00 last night (watched How'd They Do That, the Bachelorette, and Super Nanny). Needless to say, it didn't go well. :rolleyes1 But today is going MUCH better!!! My problem will be tonight - I HAVE to watch the Amazing Race Finale!!!!! :teeth: But it goes until 11:00 - late night in front of the TV is my worst time. I am planning on saving some points, though, and I did get a short (2 mile) run in this morning as well as a quick walk. I also am going to drink lots of water during that time (not diet sodas like last night... caffeine makes me want to eat!)

So, there's my plan for the rest of today. I do have to work a meeting beachside tonight, so I won't be able to munch until I get home. (This is also a good thing!!!) :cheer2:

And, another happy note - my February exercise challenge numbers are looking a little better - 250/1000. Woo-Hooooo!!!! :cool1:

Last night was going very well - was staying within points until I started eating popcorn. I think that is a trigger food for me now (didn't use to be). That seems to be the common link in the last few days as to when I lost control. So, we will see if cutting that out helps. :confused3 On the positive side, the Amazing Race finale last night was great, even if Kris and Jon came in 2nd. ;)

I weighed in this morning - I have been avoiding the scale for a couple days. I have gained 11 pounds since Saturday morning... I realize that most of that has to be water weight because I certainly didn't eat 11 x 3500 calories in that short of a time. However, I do have to say that for the first time since October 21 (when I made goal) I am over my goal weight. I hope this is the wake-up call I need - it has to be because I have no clothes left that will fit! Last week was fine until the weekend, and yesterday was fine until the late night munchies. At least I am narrowing down the problem areas. It is just so hard when you don't have that "prize" waiting at the end - I was fine for the most part when I had to weigh in every week, and was trying to make goal/lifetime. But this is for real - this has to be a lifestyle change. I certainly didn't munch all evening, every evening, in front of the TV when I knew I had to weigh-in. So there is my latest confession. Please hold me accountable - I really do want to be healthy! more later....

Have a great day everyone! Happy WISHing!! :wizard:

Hi Lynnda,

I am struggling with the night time munchies too. I am seriously thinking about locking my cabinet with all of the junk food in it around 8:00 p.m. I think that my late night snacking (whether hungry or not) is causing me to not lose as much weight as I want.

Hang in there! You are doing great with your exercise!

Hi Lynnda,

You are attacking the problem. You will get back to goal weight. Are you going to schedule a weekly weighin? Erin mentioned a few weeks ago that people who maintain their goal weight weighin daily. I don't think that I could do that, but it may be something to think about.

Take care,
Beth

02-10-2005, 05:54 AM
Thanks Tracy and Beth - I like the idea of locking the munchie cabinet!!! :flower: And I think I will weigh every day on my own scale (I've been avoiding it when I know I've eaten too much...) And I think I am going to talk to my leader tonight about unofficially weighing in with her once a week until I get back to where I was - and then doing regular weekly weigh-ins. Since I work for WW, I just have to WI once a month, but the leader I work with is awesome, and I think I just need her accountability. I did weigh this morning, and I was down 4 pounds from yesterday  - I knew alot of it was water weight, but that leaves me still up 7 from Saturday. :guilty:

I was very happy with my eating yesterday -
Breakfast - egg beaters (scrambled), Thomas' lt. whole grain english muffin, 2 healthy choice sausage links (total - 3 points)
Lunch - tuna with teeny bit of FF mayo, steamed squash, natural appleasauce, 1/2 of DS's cheese sandwhich (3 points)
Snack - 1 c. grapes (1 point)
Dinner - salad, italian chicken skillet (from WW Turnaround cookbook - yummy!!!), small baked potatoe, steamed cauliflower (10 points)
NO Nighttime snacking - YEA!!!! :teeth: (and I even had 3 points left over...)

This morning, I was up early for a 30 minute run. I tried something new today - instead of running 8 min/walking 2 min, I switched to 4/1, hoping I can run faster during the four minutes, and do a quick recovery walk. Well, I think I tried to go tooooo fast in my runs because every muscle is talking to me about it... :earseek: I did manage to do the first 2 miles 2 minutes faster than my normal morning runs! I have to mail in my next race registration today - doing another 10K on 2/19. Yippee!

Thanks again for all your comments and encouragement! It is so great to know that we have a huge team, all cheering for each other! :cheer2: You're the best! Happy WISHing! :wizard:

Thanks you all!!! You made my day! And I have been drinking my water - I am now only up 3 pounds from last Saturday! Yea!!! It's amazing how our bodies hold so much extra water!!!

Yesterday was great - pretty much ate the same as the day before with a few changes. I did eat all my points, and used one of my exercise points. I ate dinner around 4:45 because I had to work a meeting, and didn't get home until 8:30. I decided to have a snack since I knew breakfast wouldn't be until 7:30 this morning - so I had a cup of grapes, and I STOPPED!!!! No extra munching, no cereal, no chips, nothing else!!! :cool1: Woo-Hooo!!!!

Today has gone very well. I still have 10 points left, and I plan on getting some exercise in tonight - probably a run. It is quite chilly outside, though, so not sure how long I can take the weather... :cold: I know, I'm a Florida Wimp!!! :rolleyes1

Tomorrow we are going out for our Valentine's date. (We even got a babysitter for DS - he will have a blast, no worries!!!) DH and I are going to Disney to play putt-putt at Fantasia Gardens, then a stroll around EPCOT before dinner at LeCellier (Canada). :love2: I'm so excited! We've eaten at so many Disney restaurants, but this is a new one for us. Depending on the time, we might be able to ride Mission Space (before dinner, of course...) :rotfl: We usually don't get to ride it because we always have DS with us. Hee, hee, heeee!!! :rotfl: I just had to make you all wait! :rotfl2: Actually we were so tired when we got back Saturday, that we just went to bed. Sunday was church in the morning, and youth choir at night, and DH was working on the computer all afternoon, so I didn't get a chance to write. I know, no excuse! :flower:

So, we left around 2:00 and drove over to Disney to Fantasia Putt-Putt (2 courses). It was a beautiful afternoon! :sunny: We saw there were lines at both the putt-putt courses, so we told them whichever was faster - we ended up with a 10 minute wait for a tee time at the garden side - with all the typical cute putt-putt challenges (the other side is more like a miniature regular golf course.) Putt-putt was great! I had 1 hole in one, and 3 that should have been - they were within two inches of the hole on the first shot!!! :p According to the score card that DH kept... I won by one stroke! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: However, DH was sure to point out that if he had kept score of all the missed strokes (redos because the ball came back to the start,) he would have won, and he did have one that went in the hole and popped back out... so, you can figure out who won... apparently I was gloating a bit much for his taste... :teeth:

We drove over to EPCOT and decided not to chance getting stuck on Mission Space. It was only a 15 minute wait, but the last time we rode it, someone got very sick, and it took probably 30 - 45 minutes before the paramedics got her taken care of and they got the ride going again. We certainly didn't want to miss our PS time! ;) So we wandered around the world showcase, checking out the other menus and watching the different entertainment. We got to Le Cellier around 5:45 for a 6:00 seating. We found out they were so packed that they were not taking any walkups for the rest of the night! Well, were we seated in the Northwest Territory (apparently famous for their people to caribou ratio - 21 caribou to each person...). It was absolutely wonderful inside! I felt like I was in the basement of an old castle! We started with the cheese soup (absolutely amazing), and they brought out breadsticks - sourdough, multi-grain herb, and some that were like a big soft pretzel - yummy!!!! (Can you tell I wasn't thinking about WW this night???) :rolleyes1 I got the 7 oz. filet with cream cheese mashed potatoes, and DH ordered the 14 oz. new york strip with the mashed potatoes. It was FABULOUS!!!!! The filet had some sort of sweet BBQ glaze on it - yummy!!!! After filling ourselves to the brim, DH asked about dessert... Well, we NEVER get dessert in a restaurant (can't even remember the last time...) so we had to get their version of Strawberry Shortcake. Starting with the bottom layer, it was strawberry glaze, lots of strawberries, a little sponge-cake circle, some chocolate funnel cake strings, more strawberry sauce, more strawberries, another slice of the sponge cake, a scoop of ice cream with just a touch of chocolate drizzled on it, and topped with a few vanilla funnel cake strings. Oh my!!!!! :earseek: This restaurant was definitely added to the favorites list! We still had some time after dinner to wander around, but by then it was freezing!!!! :cold: So we just headed to the car and went home. That was it! It was great!!!! Thank you sweet hubby!!! :love2:

Well, I hope everyone has a super Valentine's Day! I was surprised this morning with a sweet teddy bear and 3 v-day cards (one from DS)! :cloud9: Speaking of DS, I need to check on him - he seems to have come down with a cough during the night. I'll be thinking of you all throughout the day, and hopefully will have some time to check in on your journals during DS's nap today! :goodvibes

Thanks you guys!!! DH is definitely a keeper!!! (and not just because of our Valentine's date... :lovestruc )

I haven't written much lately because DS came down with a very bad cold, which he apparently decided to share with me... and DH was feeling icky last night. So - I wasn't up for too much computer-ing the last couple of days. Needless to say I didn't feel like running this morning, but I need to feel better soon because I have a 10K on Saturday!

cute story - I'm sitting at the computer which is in the room next to DS (21 months). I just put him in for his nap, but he is in there singing to himself - it is toooo cute! I've been trying to get him to sing different notes back to me, and we are just starting to work on longer phrases. (Yes, I was a music teacher before DS came along - can you tell?) Anyway, he is actually in there singing to his stuffed animals. What a cutie!!! :flower:

As far as my eating, I was definitely off track until Wednesday morning. I talked to my WW leader Tuesday night, and we are going to do weekly weigh-ins again. I still need that accountability and motivation. I guess I accomplished all these major goals I had set, and then didn't know what to do with myself. I was pumped about doing the full marathon at Disney next year, but it seems soooo far away. I need to find my focus again, and remember why I joined WW in the first place. My leader also suggested putting my before pictures around the house again. (We packed all our pictures for the hurricanes, and haven't gotten to those boxes, yet... I was kind of waiting until after the next hurricane season is over to unpack since it starts in FOUR months!!! ) I think I also need to see pictures of myself at goal, too - I look in the mirror and really don't notice a big difference. I know it has to do with body image, and I need to go back and re-read Dr. Phil's book. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated! :goodvibes

Yesterday went very well, and so far today has been great. I will WI tonight before the meeting. I forgot how much I dreaded weighing in after I was off program... time to face the music! :rolleyes1 For a happy, my sister e-mailed me yesterday and said that she should be getting her 50 pound magnet tonight! :cheer2: Yea!!! It is really cool that she lets me weigh her in, too! I'm so proud of her - can you tell? :teeth:

Tomorrow we were supposed to go to Animal Kingdom, but I think it now depends on how everyone is feeling in the morning. I really want to go, though, and the weather should be great. I'll let you know if we make it there!

Well, I'm off to read your journals and do a bit of catching up!

Happy WISH-ing to you all!!! :wizard: Thanks again for all the cheerleading, too! :cheer2:

Thanks Beth! :flower: -5.... Brrrrrr!!!!! :cold: I cannot even imagine! :sunny:

Thanks Jen for the healthy vibes! Keep 'em coming! :goodvibes

Friday, we did go to Animal Kingdom, and it was a great day! Bubby (DS) was an absolute angel the entire time - no fussing!!! :teeth: You could tell he wasn't feeling good, but he was enjoying himself. After lunch, we headed over to see Pooh and friends. Well, as soon as he saw them, he perked up, and was apparently feeling MUCH better!!!! :teeth: We had to hold him back until it was his turn to go. The first character was Eeyore, so I held his hand and walked him up there, but he quickly let me know that he didn't need my help. For Tigger and Pooh, (and later for Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Donald) we held him until he was next, and then just put him down. He would RUN to the character with big hugs, then turn around to pose for pictures, get another hug, give Hi-5's, then give a kiss and a wave bye-bye. It was absolutely precious!!!! :lovestruc Around 2:30, we put him in the baby backpack and he slept for 45 minutes, then woke up ready to go again. Yea!!!

Saturday, I did the race, but I probably should not have. As soon as I started running, my chest started aching. I haven't had much sinus problems, but lots of chest congestion... Combine that with running in cool weather, and you get pain!!!! My running friend thoroughly lectured me about the dangers... pneumonia... etc. But, I told her I would stay back with her (she is a bit older than I am) and we kept running. She even improved her time by 5 minutes. I, on the other hand, was 6 minutes slower than the last race three weeks ago. I did the 10K in just under 73 minutes - definitely not on my pace, but it felt good to get some exercise in, and the last 3 miles felt alot better than the first. :flower:

Sunday, I felt the effects of the race - both in my muscles and in lots of coughing!!! I went to church, and was supposed to help out in the nursery, but was sent to Sunday School as soon as they heard me coughing. Sunday afternoon was busy with going through the ads and coupons, making out menus, and going to the store (much easier to go when Bubby is napping, and DH is home to stay with him). :goodvibes Then, it was back to church to direct youth choir, then to my parents to take care of their cats, go by another store, and home to see Bubby before bed. After we got him in bed, it was back out to Publix before they closed. Yea! All the grocery shopping is done!!!! I do have 2 more loads of laundry to do, but that should leave a fairly easy week! Yea!!!

Needless to say, I haven't had a chance to write much ont he journal, so that is the "Catch-up"! Eating has been great. I am under my goal again, and I need to officially WI sometime this week. Hopefully TOM doesn't mess things up too much! I hope you all have a great week! Thanks for all of your encouragement!!! :cheer2:

Take care and Happy WISH-ing! :wizard:

We will gladly take your snow. That would be an interesting sight down here. It is getting way too close to 80 degrees to be comfortable right now. :sunny:

You guys amaze me - how do you deal with the snow????? :cold: Well, you are welcome to come on over to our house! Should I tell you that I took Bubby to the park this morning? :sunny: It was an absolutely beautiful day, so we went over to my parents to take care of their cats, then on to the park by their house. We had the whole place to ourselves!!! We walked up the steps, went down the slides, played on the swings, and had a blast! :flower: I do have to say, I love to play in snow, and I would love for DS to see snow. However, I could NOT live in that cold!!! (Knock loudly on wood.) You all are are much stronger women than I am!!! :goodvibes

Eating is going well for today. I think I will take a break for a bit and finish my WW magazine - I so look forward to them every other month, and I can't wait to finish reading it! Bubby is sleeping peacefully, and the dog is laying on the porch, and the rest of the laundry can wait... :teeth:

I hope you all are having a fabulous day! Happy WISHing!!! :wizard:

Lynnda~

Your Valentine's date with your hubby sounds like it was wonderful! :cloud9: I'm glad you both had a good time!

I'll tell you... my DH and I have joked about moving to Florida, but I think we are getting very serious about it. These winters are so hard on the body and the soul! I love the changing seasons though so it will be a toss up.

How are you feeling today? You are an amazing woman! I don't think I could walk a 10K healthy, yet alone run while not feeling well. By the way, how far is a 10K exactly?

I hope you have a wonderful Tuesday!

Thanks Tracy and Jen! :flower: I am feeling a bit better today, but still lots of sinus pressure and some coughing, so no running this morning. Tracy - a 10K is 6.2 miles. It is becoming a very popular race distance around here. My biggest problem is that whenever there is a race where you choose 5K or 10K, all the stronger runners do the 10K. I have finished last in my age group the last two 10K races... but there were a few people that did the 5K that finished after my 10K time... ;) I guess it's all in how you look at it! :flower:

Eating is going very well, but it is now TOM, and I think my body has decided to act accordingly... oh well, I know I'm eating well, and my energy level is much better than it has been the last few weeks. We will see what WI holds for me... :rolleyes1

Well, DH signed us both up for the 2006 Disney Full Marathon tonight. It is official and it is paid for, so I need to get cranking on the training. :teeth: I'm actually very excited. I'm starting to get that same feeling I had right after the half marathon - I want that Mickey medal!!!!!! Nothing's gonna stop me! :cool1:

Anyway, I'm sleepy and I am subbing for an early morning meeting tomorrow - time for bed! I hope you all have a great day on Wednesday! I'll be checking into all your journals over the next couple of days! :goodvibes

Happy WISHing!!! :wizard:

Hi Lynnda,

I hope that you are feeling better this morning. I hate sinus infections.

I am sure you will get your Mickey medal. You are very dedicated to your training.

I am sending :wizard: for WI and TOM.

Have a great day,
Beth

Congrats on signing up for the full marathon! :cool1: Let me just say how impressed I am!!!! I can't wait to follow your training progress and then the race! We will want to see pictures of that Mickey Medal you know!!!! :cool1:

Thanks for the info on the 10 k!!!! I am doing 5 miles now! Only 1.2 more and I will be doing a 10 k!!! That is really encouraging!!!!

Have a great day! :flower:

Thanks Beth and Jen!!! :flower: Jen - you are doing great on your distance. You should look into doing a 10K - very challenging, but very rewarding when you cross that finish line! :cool1:

Eating is still going very well! I think before I was trying to eat too little food for my body (more muscle from running means I need a little more food), and I would go on those binges when I felt like I was absolutely starving. I increased my points per day by two, and am allowing myself about half of the flex points per week. So far, so good - I WI unofficially tomorrow night for my leader, and will WI officially for the Staff WI Friday morning. Dinner tonight will include some asparagus, so maybe it will wash those TOM bloaties away!!!! :rotfl2:

Today was good - I subbed for a beachside meeting while my parents watched Bubby this morning. He had a blast, and I got to share my story with a class I had not visited. Afterwards, we stopped at ICBY and split a small sugar-free, fat-free chocolate yogurt - yummy!!! This afternoon has been a bit difficult for me, though. I have to write my letter of resignation to the school board. I have been on a leave of absence for two years since Bubby was born, but now I either have to resign or go back. It has never been a question that I would resign and stay home with him, and I would never want to do anything different. I love being a SAHM! :teeth: He is my pride and joy, and I cherish my time with him! I do have some great memories from teaching at the high school, though, and I will really miss my administrators and peers. The principal and I had our differences in the beginning, but the last few years were great, and he became a friend and encourager. It just feels so final. I guess that's part of the journey, though. Plus, someday Bubby will get to go to school there!!! :cheer2:

Anyway, I hope you all have a great Wednesday. I'm off to do laundry and look through some new WW cookbooks - yea!!! :goodvibes

Happy WISHing!!! :wizard:
