Anyone know what the % discount is for DC members? The Charter One discount is 15%. Wasn't sure if anything out there beat that.

Emerald Club is worthless right now for discounts.

I believe DC got us 20% or 25% off our November rental, depending on how it is calculated. Our weekly base rate is $124.99, for 9 days it is about $166. Our DC discount is $31.20. I think it varies by date and location.

use the dc contract code AND the coupon code they have going now and you'll
save more. I got a compact car for 8 days for 141.50 that includes all taxes and fees

get the coupon code at mousesavers.com

Hulabird,

Looks like they are charging you over $20 for that 8th day. I thought they reward you if you rent over 7 days?

If you use an entertainment coupon you can save $.25 more on your discount.

right now it seems the DC is gettin you 20% off a base rate.....but that base rate maybe different from the base rate that EC gives you.......(which i think works out to about a 15% discount off of the DC base rate)

so definately the DC discount seems to be the best one out there right now

well my 8th day I am not dropping the car off until 7
pm my total savings was about 45.00 and I was happy
with that considering how much it was without the codes

The "code game" is so time consuming.

You have to put in the right combination of contract ID with coupon. The best combo was Disney Club with TA coupon. My total price is 115 for a full size including everything for a week. Next best combo was Charter One rate and Disney Vacations Coupon. Sheesh. Everything is work.

Alamo would have been cheaper by about $10-$12 but it sounds like it is worth it for the convenience and size of car.

what is TA coupon.....???

With my DC card and a coupon for one weekend day free I got a Full size car for 9 days in November for $205.57. I am really happy since with the package I have they wanted to charge me $303.00. Michelle

Lawgs,

TA is Traveler's Advantage. It is synonomous with Entertainment coupon.

If you are a TA member, you get 5% back on all of your travel cost.

How do you go about getting all the discounts if you use a travel agent? We have AAA and Disney Club and Avis discounts. Can we use them with an agent? Are they worthwhile? Or better to do it yourself (I like planning and good at it - seem to be better than an agent possibly).

Mish,

That sounds a bit high for what the base rate is right now.

I'm going to WDW Nov/Dec for 10 days and my base rate for the Emerald Isle Full size car is $124 and my total for the 10 days is $179.

I got that rate with the Disney Club Contract number and then a $20 off coupon from my credit card company.

I think my lower base rate might be because you don't belong to the Emerald Club? But I went and did 9 days in November without belonging to the Emerald Club and I plugged in the discounts and I still got a much lower rate than you have. I got $174 for 9 days for full size car.

I think you should go and try another reservation and see if you can lower it about $30!!! Good luck!;)

I just made a reservation for 9 days in November (full-size) using the 20% DC discount. I was unable to use the one free weekend day coupon from the Disney Club because of capacity controls (renting over Thanksgiving holiday), but was able to use the $15 off a weekly rental coupon from Entertainment. My total including all taxes is $162.64.

beattyfamily, does it matter the i didnt join EA. I wans't sure if i was going to join or not. Michelle

Mish,

It does matter a bit.

The base rate for a full size for Emerald Club members is $124 right now and I think the base rate for Full size for NON members is $134.

So for 9 days even at $134 plus the coupons/discounts you said you had, your total should be around $174.

If you join the EC, then your total will be even less that the $174!

Beattyfamily,

You are absolutely correct. They have everything rigged it seems. The Mid size rate is the same for both however. Very strange.

EC members seem to able to book a mid-size or full-size on EA for the same price, which basically means that we're getting the full-size for less. As I understand it, if the EA is almost empty, or only has mid-size cars, we will have the option of going to the full-size aisle for a car, because we're guaranted the size car that we booked.

I called again for a price and got the same quote of $205.95. Maybe I will have to join EA for a better deal. Michelle

Mish, why aren't you checking the prices at National online? Alot of the car rental agencies quote better prices online and you can play around with the various coupon codes and discounts without having to call anyone.

I agree with pbhunt, you almost always get a better deal on line!

Mish

I didnt do it on line because i could not figure out how to put the DC card discount in. I saw how to do the coupon for the free weekend day. If someone could explain how to do it i would really appreciate it. Thanks Michelle

When you are on the page where you plug in your info such as locatoin, type of car, dates and times, you will also see the coupon box and right below it is the Contract ID# box.

Can't miss it. Just plug in the contract # which you will find at the DC website, if you don't know it....

Good luck!

Congratulations Michelle, that sounds like a good rate!! Keep checking, the price changes frequently, but the rates are really low right now. Remember to cancel your old reservations.
Welcome back Pluto, we missed you, are you planning a trip to WDW (with DVC) soon?:):) :bounce:

Thanks PB - feels good to be back around a little. Actually we're scheduled to go home to BWV 11/21-12/02 and just booked a weekender for the 100TH premiere 9/29-10/01 via DVC but splurging with the points and staying at the GF. Got a $35 rental rate and r/t tix for $130. that and the fact that I want my "honorary ambassador badge", who could say no?

I am trying every possible combination of codes and cannot come up with anything less than $131 for 5 days (8/19-8/24). Does this sound right? I am an EA member, DC member, capital one, everything!

briane
08-08-2001, 02:44 PM
Kamlem,

I think the base rate is high because of the number of days to your trip is small. It might just be a matter of supply and demand. I got a base of 143 for your same days for an intermediate.

Thanks to this site I just saved me another $20.00!!! I didn't realize I could use a coupon from my bank with my contract ID from DC. I tried it and now I'm renting for 12 days in Dec for
$223.00!!! I'm pretty happy with that considering just a few days ago I was at $266.00. So, I was able to drop my rate by switching the contract # and adding the new coupon!!! It just keeps getting cheaper and cheaper!!! Thanks everyone!!!

One thing Kamlen, is that you're not staying onm a Saturday night which is a requirement for DC coupon. I just came up with a rate of $146.
