Who will be in WDW during DIS convention? UPDATE

I'm not techinically going to the convention, but will be in WDW during that time.

Who else will be there? Any plans for a DVC meet?

We'll be there (BWV) from 11/22 to 12/1, but we're not 'technically' going to the convention either. If I remember correctly we live pretty close to each other. It would be funny if we ran into each other 1000 miles from home. ;)

Regina, I looked at the DIS CON board, and can't make heads or tails of any of it. If people are having meets, are they going to post it on the usual DIS Meet section of the DIS?? Or maybe have a separate thread for each meet? Are these things in the works yet?? It's just that it's 4 months out and I'm going to start making PS (I'm one of those), and I would like to see if there are any meets I'd like to keep time open for. :)

I think I read on that confusing :confused: Convention board that someone plans to do a meet. If not, I think *we* should. That's why I was wondering if there was some sort of sign up. :confused:

I think there's some kind of meet/event on that Wednesday night (November 28th??) at the BW (Atlantic Dance??). I was thinking of leaving that night open and hanging out outside as a greeter. :D

UPDATE: I posted on the DIS CON board, and apparently there doesn't seem to be anyone HOSTING it, although it has been discussed. There's supposed to be a list coming out at some point of all the different meets. There's a thread on the DIS CON board with lots of suggestions for meets...I just hope that there aren't so many that it gets too confusing to choose, or waters down attendance.

I may host it, if there isn't already someone who's had their heart set on doing it. I'm clueless though about how to...but I guess I've got almost 4 months to figure it out.

As I find anything out, I'll post here. I'm getting psyched!

11/23 to 12/2 Staying one night (23rd) at Best Western Lake Buena Vista (on Hotel Blvd) and then from 11/24 to 12/2 at BWV. My DH ans DS also. We are signed up for Events only for the DIS Con, but would love to meet up with you.

Someone is also trying to schedule a dinner at Whispering Canyon (WL) on Tuesday evening (27th) for those who will be there at that time.

From what I've been told, the pin trading/info sessions won't require a ticket.

I'm not sure yet about other non-ticket events, but I'll keep you posted.

I was thinking of Wednesday, November 28th, at the Boardwalk after the Opening Reception at Atlantic Dance ends at 8 PM. That way, anyone attending the convention could just walk over to ??? at the Boardwalk for a DVC meet.

OR

Friday, November 30th, at the Boardwalk, at around lunchtime or early afternoon?? That day is EE at EPCOT, so you could do EE and then stroll over to BW.

Any other suggestions/ideas? Not sure how many DVCers are into having a meet. :confused: So, all input is welcome.

I will be around that week, at BWV. I might be abandoning my family for a day or 2 and popping out for a wedding right in the middle of it all, so I can't make a committment to be anywhere at a certain day or time, but it would be nice to see folks. :)

If you are still clueless about hosting a meet, let me assure you that all you really need to do is tell people when and where, and then show up. For a general meet of people who don't really know each other, you might expect a 40% show rate of people who say they will be there... people tend to get busy at WDW, for some reason! And some people just get shy, or their spouse objects, and they don't show. If people do know each other and are motivated to show up, you can expect more of a show rate. I have planned and participated in a few now... some are very simple, some are quite elaborate. Have fun with it!

Sounds good to me MaryAnn. :) The p.m. meet on the 28th works out better for us but that's not to say I wouldn't rearrange a few things to try to make it on the 30th. I haven't checked out the DIS-Con board for a few months so I'll head on over there and take a look.

There are a bunch of us staying at the Boardwalk that week - for the first time ever I might actually see some lime green ribbons! ;)
