Hi,
I am planning to purchase a portable DVD player for my daughter to use on our upcoming trip. Can anyone recommend a good brand? She will be using it on the airplane ride that is around 2 hrs. Does the battery last that long?
Any advice/input is appreciated! Thanks! princess:

We have the Mintek DVD Player that we bought last year for our Trip. Works Great! My DD can watch 2 movies and than some before the Battery dies. Hope that helps.

Just a thought. This may not be in your budget, but have you considered buying an inexpensive laptop computer instead? You can probably find one for about $600, maybe even less for a used or refurbished one. That way you've got a DVD player, a larger screen and all the other functionality of a computer. I know a lot of folks are going that route today instead of getting just the DVD player.

I just bought the Mintek 5860. It says the battery lasts approx. 2 hours if TFT on and 4 hours if TFT off. I have yet to use mine and am not exactly sure what this means. I was told to buy one with a TFT monitor as they have a much better picture than the SDT (or whatever the other is), so I guess you can play the dvd's in either mode and TFT uses more battery.

We Bought A Venturer 7 Inch Dvd Player At Walmart Last Year In Kentucky On The Way Back Home, And With The Carrying Bag That You Can Mount On The Back Of A Seat, And All The Accessories, We Paid Just Under $200 . You Want To Make Sure Not To Go Less Than 7 Inch Screen, It'll Be Too Hard On Her Eyes, After A Prolonged Amt Of Time. Enjoy!

We bought an Audiovox after reading reviews in Consumer Reports and have not been disappointed.

We bought a 7-inch Polaroid portable DVD player and we love it. We also have a laptop but it's easier to bring the portable DVD player when we don't need the laptop for other things.

I have the Panasonic DVD-LS50 and love it. My DD can watch two movies on it before the battery dies. Right now, Panasonic is having a special Promo that if you buy the DVD Player, you can mail in for a case and Car/Airplane adaptor that plugs into your car's cigarette lighter so you don't have to worry about the battery dying, and it works great.

Here's the info for it:

I bought this case from Amazon.com so you can keep the player in it while watching it in the car. I really love that too.

We bought one a year ago from Best Buy. It was a special, only pd $150.00 for it. It was an off-brand, started with an A, like Awa, or something like that. We have used it a bunch, and had no problems. We also bought the spliter, where two headsets can plug into it. Both of my kids can watch it at the same time. We also bought the car/adapter so you can just plug it and don't have to worry about the battery life. Ours will last 2 hours, but with the charger it is nice not to worry about it.
They are wonderful!!!

We bought our DD a poloroid 7" for X-mas . We paid $137.00 for it but that was at day after Thanksgiving sale. Mt parents just got the same one at Best But this week for $179.00 on sale. It has a 3 hour battery and a car adapter. We haven't used it much yet but the picture is real good.

They also had a Poloroid 8" that you could hook up a video game to at Sams Club with the travel bag for around $200 - $250 I think.

I've heard the Polaroid 7" is good, I've been thinking about getting that for DD...check the prices at walmart.com (http://www.walmart.com/catalog/search-ng.gsp?search_constraint=0&search_query=portable+dvd+player&ics=20&ico=0)

I am wondering if this is a freudian slip, or spelling error?

I used to work for Best But many years ago (that's where I met the girl who eventually became my DW), and they are the best butheads out there!

DS9 got the Polaroid 8" (PDV-0821T) for Christmas and is loving it. The picture is very good and the battery and car adaptor have been working great. We paid about $175 at Best Buy for it after a rebate.

We picked up the small DVD player from Amazon, It was $119. It works great, plays both PVD & DVD & CD's/Mp3. It comes in two colors, blue and black. I would recommend this unit! :flower:
