Called today for PS. Was told we were not allowed to :guilty: request :guilty: outside seating! They would fill the inside before the outside?!?
Plus, just found out that there will be some kind of a discover a new country act contest from 6 pm the night of our PS. Should that change our plans? Will it increase crowds or will it help by pulling people away from IllumiNations?

They have not taken requests for outside seating for some time.

When checking in at the podium, you can request outside seating, but they will only honor the request if it is the next available table. Otherwise, you will be asked to sit inside. When they seated us inside, we were told that we would have a special area to stand in for Illuminations when the time arrived during our meal. The waitrress led us to the area outside and we were able to watch the show. I must say it wasn't as ideal as having your own table outside, though.

There are so many great places to watch Illuminations, it always seemed to me that trying to time your meal so as to get an outside table at Rose & Crown to watch it from there was more trouble than it was worth. If it works out, great! But, I would not sweat it too much.

We've gotten outside once and it was a trip highlight. Last trip they showed us to our table, next to the kitchen doors swinging in and out and we just said no thanks and left.

We've been to the Rose and Crown 3 times and each time we've gotten the seats we requested (twice outside in nice weather, once inside in hot weather). We did not have PS any of the times and in fact the last time we were there (December 18, 2004) we were told all PS were booked solid up until 8 PM --however, when a new person appeared at the scheduling table in front of the Rose and Crown, we asked again and were let in immediately! This was when the restaurant had just opened at 4:30 PM so I imagine it was the least-busy time of day for them. It was still very odd to have 2 different people tell us 2 different things though!

I totally agree. The Rose and Crown is one of our favorite lunch stops, but the dinner crowds and requests are just too much. Eat elsewhere and pick a nice spot around the water to enjoy Illuminations. :D
