OK, here we are, week 1. I am going to be working on eating more veggies and drinking my water this week. This is something that I really need to focus on. I am going to be working on my exercising with the 1,000 min. challenge for January and my weight loss with the Lose 5 in January, but I really need to work on getting more water in my body and veggies too.

Let's start the week off right and we can all work on our goals together. :cheer2:

Alright, here are my plans for this week.......more water, NO regular coke, and at least 30 mins of walking with my kids each day. It is cold here today (for Florida) and the cold air is good for DSs croup, so there is an extra incentive for me to go out today and take that walk!!

After I hit submit I am going to get a glass of water!

I'm committing to:

Staying OP
6 day of exercise this week
Drinking 8 glasses of water everyday
Adding some type of extra veggies each day
Take my vitamin each day (bad habit of not doing this)
Trying to get 3 servings of calcium a day (Thanks to AlreadyExcitedGrammy for reminding me how important it is to do this)

So far- I've been OP all day, had my vitamin, had a baggie of carrots for snack this afternoon and had 2.5 glasses of water.

I need to exercise, drink a LOT more water and get my 3 servings of calcium in.

I'm committed to:

drink more water at school
get to Curves at least once
to get my math prepared in the morning (that can count, can't it? It's my downfall at school. )
and to record on Fitday

Two days down, good to go. (didn't get to Curves because of a snowstorm, but I WILL!)

This week, I will not eat sweets the bad ones anyway.
I have some atkins ice cream bars, that will be my only sweet (when does this week end? lol) beside that, I will get to the gym this week at least 3 times!

Staying OP (trying for 20 pts a day)

Exercising on treadmill and doing some strength training too!

Everyone is doing good, we should all be proud of ourselves for making a commitment to do something different. I have drank my water today and actually have a glass beside me right now. I did 20 min. of floor exercises and I ate vegetable soup (homemade) for lunch today so I added some veggies in. I did go to the store and have fresh ones for tomorrow. Keep up the hard work!!

Yesterday was mostly successful-

I stayed OP
I exercised
took my vitamin
had some veggies
took my vitamin
had 3 servings of calcium
Water - I got 6 in. I couldn't get all 8 in, but six isn't too bad

For today - again the following

Yesterday was 3-star day (3 because I have 3 challenges daily). Staying on plan and getting in the water was easy but I even got on the treadmill which has been a pain for me! I am hoping today will be a good day too. I am trying to focus on the daily and not get lost in the long term journey.

Get up and move! You can do it!

I did ok yesterday. Didn't eat after 8pm (that's a biggie!), did 2 miles on treadmill, but only drank a bit more water and less caffeine. Some days are just Diet Pepsi days! :bitelip:

Wow, I actually did exactly what I set out to do, a big THANKS for starting this thread as it (along w/ the stay off the scale challenge) was just what I need this 1st week of staying OP.

Today I plan on:
--drink at least 64 oz water each day & no juice or soda (already got down about 30oz!)
--exercise regularly (an hour at the gym this am!)
--get a decent night's rest (at least 7 hours)
--stay off the scale until Sat
--no eating after 7 pm

Here's to another great day for everyone! Tammy-you are doing great with getting those veggies in :)
tigger-I love that line "This body is under new management" --mind if I steal that for my new tag? Been looking for one! ITA that it is a day by day war, not a long drawn out battle that will help me to make these changes last a lifetime.

Okay I figured out why I'm eatting so unhealthy...I felt the cramps coming on this morning. Aunt Flow is coming for a visit soon. Gosh I hate her, I hate her, I hate her! And she's bringing her daughter Cousin Bloat. I hate her too. So after having a pretty good day of eating habits. Oatmeal for b-fast, spinach salad for lunch and a pack of peanut butter and crackers. I come home to a bag of M & M's sitting on my counter. YES I admit, I had a hand full or two :guilty:

Cheer up! I'd have grabbed those M&M's too if Aunt Flo showed up at my door! I always find that after she and that darn cousin leave I'm much more level headed and can continue down the path of good health!

PLEASE let me be on the Commitment Thread! This is my first time on one... hopefully I'm doing it right?! This week I resolve to:

--Follow my planned workout schedule (6 days) as best I can
--Drink more than 64 oz. of water per day
--Make good food choices
--Get good sleep
AND
--Clean... My mom is getting really upset with me over this! I am 22 years old and am still getting yelled at to tidy up my room and make my bed... Anybody want to take me in as an adult adoptee? If not, at least the extra effort around the house should make her smile. :o)

This is successful day number two for me. I feel like garbage because I am sick, but I WILL go to the health club tonight... I will, I will, I WILL! I should go very soon...

Keep it up, everybody!

Ashley

((Ashley)) i hope you are feeling better soon! when you are sick you know it's good to take a few days off to recoop and get healthy! as for the adoption, come to ohio  I may have to kick out my oldest DD (12 going on 17) who told me tonightMom - Disney is NOT cool :earseek: :earseek: :earseek: I replied by giving her an out if she felt that way, she didn't HAVE to go on the cruise with us :cool2: that changed her tune. she still insists that i'm not cool, and I know that, but no way will I admit that to her! i won't go down without a fight!

(clearing throat)ahhhemmm...........where was I?

today was a bit harder in the food area for me - i was just hungry! i guess all that extra has been burned through now. my downfall today was pretzels, i guess it could be worse. still within pts though

speaking of minnesota ashley I heard on the news today some town in MN hit minus 54 degrees yesterday! keep warm!

I did get my 50 min walk on TM done too and plenty'o'water --- till tomorrow

YES - today will be #4 and so far so good and YES I am counting! My WI was this AM officially I have 12 lbs to goal - that sounds doable!

I was hungry yesterday too - made it through - lots of water and keeping busy.

Love this post race schedule - today is a day of REST - well for the exercise part that is :teleport:

Keep up the good work everyone - WE CAN DO IT!!!!!!

P.S. I read those ohMom posts and I "swear" I did not say I hope your daughter is just like you - but my memory ISN'T quite as good as it used to be :earboy2: - but I seem to remember some years like she is refering too

Mornin to all!!

I am hanging in there - starting with day #3

No eating after 7:30 or as Oprah says no eating 3 hours before you go to bed.
At least 30 minutes of exercise a day.
PORTION CONTROL!!

The scale has actually moved into the next set of 10's!! YIPPEE!! Been wrestling with the same 5 pounds for months.

Let's all keep going onward and downward:):)

Have a Magical Disney Day!!:):)

Another 3 star day yesterday! That makes 3 days in a row on the TM! I decided that since I listen to CDs while I "walk" my reward for 5 days on the TM would be a new CD each week I succeed.

welovdis...borrow away I have made signs for the TM room that say Body Under New Management just for inspiration! :cheer2:

Kim go with the "Flow" and get back on track when you can. It is hard to fight Mother Nature. :D

Ashley hope you get to feeling better soon.

Way to go for everyone who reached their goal for the day!! :flower1: And if you didn't, remember tomorrow, or rather today is another day!

Keep up the good work!

Wow - We are all doing so well this week. I'm so glad we have a commitment thread. Although every time I see the thread on the board I think it says "Committed Thread".

Yesterday - YEAH I got all my water in, although I did feel like a fish. I was running to the bathroom by the time I drove home and picked up my son up. All my commitments were filled yesterday!

Today - Same as yesterday! Unfortunatetly there is a pizza party here at work and we are having a pizza party for our cheerleaders tonight. I think I'll be up to my eyeballs in pizza and will have to dip a few points into my flex points. Even thought points are tight I still brought in two oranges for morning and afternoon snack. I won't skimp on my fruits and veggies even if it means I eat a few more points than I would like. In the long run I think it will make me do even better.

Melissa- That is such a GREAT idea about the new CD each week you reach your goal! Way to go! We all need things like that that keep us Comitted!!

chrismiss56 - Great job on the scale moving. I'm waiting for my scale to move again too. I feel like I've been hovering between 150-156 for so long I won't know what to do when it hits the 140's again!! I'm hoping with continued exercise It will start moving soon.

Bev- 12 pounds to GO til GOAL!! You go girl! You'll be there in no time! That is so great, keep up the great work.

Molli- GASP- your daughter says Disney is not cool. Thank goodness my 12 year old thinks DISNEY and DisneyWorld are the COOLEST! She just put a screensaver on her computer of her with Daisy and Donald. I always ask her if she will always like Disney because my Niece hated to do anything with her parents (refused to go to Disney when she was a teen and has moved out of state to go to college to be away from her parents) and I love that my family loves to go on vacations. It would kill me if she stopped likeing to go. I'm Sending Pixie dust to your oldest daughter that the DISNEY MAGIC (no pun intended) overcomes her on her cruise.

Ashley- I hope you get better soon. Take care of yourself. And of course there is always room here in PA for you too.

Tammy- I'm so proud of you for getting your veggies in. I know how you hate them.

Keep up the great work everyone!

Someone I used to work with would measure out a certain amount of M&M's just for that occasion. She built it into her diet and didn't eat anymore than the measured amount. Since it was only once a month, it didn't affect her too much. I'm not that disciplined. If the bag's open, I hear them calling my name :listen:

Anyway, Day#3...
I did good yesterday. No eating after dinner (I feel like a Gremlin  ), walked on TM, drank one glass of water for every glass of caffeine. I was down a pound this morning, to a number I have never seen on this scale :cool1:
Thanks for starting this thread! When I get that little hankering for a bedtime snack, I keep remembering I'd have to admit to it in the morning. It's keeping me honest :D

Today is such a good day. Aunt Flow and Cousin have not come to visit yet but they are on their way. Last night I made a promise to my self that I would not eat anything unhealthy today. I'm doing ok today but it is a tough one, ugh! I am really hungry this afternoon but staving it off with some water and keeping really busy.

Staying off the scale (as part of the challenge on another thread) is really tough but I didn't do it! I moved the scale to the closet until Sat am!

Well, I'm not doing too bad, either. ;) I have been getting my math ready at school, I've been drinking my water, and I've been recording on FitDay. Three out of four isn't bad! I did take my workout clothes to work today, but I'm pretty tired, and with the snow the kids have been crazy :cool1: so I thought that I'd come and work at home and get to bed early. Now THAT'S a goal I really like! pirate: Congrats to all of you who are on course. Weigh to go!

Well, well, well... Here I sit. I am giving myself another day on my Cheat Free Bear even though I didn't exercise yesterday. I drank lots of water and got 12 hours of sleep. Not that it helped any since I feel only worse today, but, c'est la vie.

Today I DID go work out, but my body wasn't too fond of that. I only did 35 minutes on the TM and 125 crunches, 15 minutes shorter than I wanted. Then I rewarded myself for going with 10 minutes in the steam room and one of the longest health club showers known to man. I thought I would feel better afterwards, kind of work the sickness right out of my body, but... I don't feel any better... kind of worse. :o( I am going to bed for the night in just a little bit.

One thing to note: I have lost 3 pounds since Monday, so that is my optimistic view of being sick. Hooray for six consecutive meals of breakfast cereal or oatmeal! Don't worry, this trend will end as soon as I get my stomach and my taste buds back. BTW, if this weight loss has brought me to my ten pound clippie, do I snag it? Or do I let it be and become sad and depressed at the idea that this weight is going to come right back to me? Let's see who is on my side here! j/k

Ohio or Pennsylvania sound lovely! I can even babysit if need be, for cheaper rent. I'll knock some sense into anybody who thinks their mom (or Disney) isn't cool, too... I'm not that far removed from it, ya know. :o) I'm glad I never went through that... what a depressing thing to go through!

Kimickey - Way to get through Aunt Flo's visit! She visited me the NIGHT BEFORE the marathon! UGH! That is a horror story I hope I never have to relive.

Chimera - Measuring out M&M's is insane. That is why they are so small... So I can eat them ALL! Oops... Did I post that on the WISH boards?

Keep it up, all!

Ashley

The commitment I made this week:

1. Drink at least 64 oz of water everyday
2. No 1/2 & 1/2 in my coffee -- only skim milk or low carb flavored creamer (only in one cup a day)
3. Do NOT buy a breakfast sandwich or bagel at my coffee shop in the morning
4. PACK lunch every day

So far, I have stuck with it for 3 days. You guys are inspiring me!

Next week I will add a workout commitment, though last night I had to walk down the stairs in my high-rise office building in high heel boots-- 14 floors worth!!! -- when the fire alarms went off. I didn't end up walking on the treadmill because my legs were still shaky when I got home.

Have a great day everyone! :grouphug:

Alright, I have been struggling a bit the exercise portion of my commitment, but I have done great with drinking lots and lots of water (and NO regular soda).

After much soul searching and discussion with my DH (who is the cook of this family) we have decided to do SouthBeach, but I will be starting on Phase 2 (I am still nursing DS, when he is done I will consider doing Phase 1). We went to the Health food store yesterday and to the regular grocery store and our house is now SouthBeach friendly.

DS#2 is finally starting to seem like himself, so I am hoping the croup is over and I will really be able to get into my routine (until the next illness pops over for a visit  )

Everyone is doing such a great job!!

Sorry I haven't had time to post in a couple of days. Everyone is doing great on their commitments to themselves. I have been working on getting my veggies in and drinking my water. I did get on the TM Tuesday, then my feet were a bit sore yesterday so I did floor exercises. I did 30 min. on the TM this morning not at a fast pace, but a steady one.

Keep up the great work everyone, I have to finish up some work so I can get it delivered. I have people wanting their paychecks, I know I would too, so gotta run.

Blessings to you all!!!

Just a quick note... No WONDER I've lost weight. I had a fever of 102.8 last night. I am INSANE for having worked out!! I was not able to report to work today, I wonder how many kiddos I've gotten sick in the past few days... :o(

This morning I had a really scary experience. I had to go to the bathroom really badly around 4ish, I think? So, I dodged out of my bed and got really dizzy on my way to the bathroom. I sat down on the toilet and started to get so dizzy I couldn't pick my head up. When I tried to stand up, I could only make it to the sink and hang my head there. When I tried to go back to my room I took a tumble backwards and landed my head against the doorframe and my whole body against the ground. I don't think I will be exercising today... SUCH a scary experience!

Sorry, just thought I would share so you know why I am not posting workouts but am still claiming cheat free days on my bear. Maybe my weight will keep going down and I can meet my ten pounds by April goal a little sooner? I know, not a good wish, but you know you have all thought about that, too!

Take care and stay healthy (and motivated!),

Ashley- I'm so sorry to hear your so sick. Please take care and don't exercise till your 100%.

I did good yesterday. I only drank 5.5 cups of water but I'm really having a tough time getting all 8 in every day. It's my hardest struggle. I was able to stop eating by 7p last night! Woo hoo! Yesterday was a rest day. It felt good to rest, even though I felt like exercising.

Today is going well. I have 4 cups of water in and I'm waiting till I get home to drink more. I really hope all this water starts making the pounds go WOOSH into the 140's soon. I so want to say goodbye to the 150's.

Have a great OP day everyone!

I'm editing this to say that I just finished doing Tae Boe Cardio, what a workout. Man I feel good !

Hey! I got to Curves today. Didn't want to, but I felt the commitment push. :teeth: It is 12ºF here today, so after the kids went home, I changed into the workout clothes because I knew that if I went out there, the car was going to turn right instead of left. ;)

I drank lots of water, recorded on Fitday AND I got my math prepared before lunch. Not much before lunch, but before it none the less. :earboy2:

So, a good day, all in all. The next two will be a challenge. A favourite uncle died and I will be hitting the funeral home tomorrow and the funeral itself is on Saturday.

Ashley, take care of yourself. There is a lot of junk going 'round these days. Be GOOD to yourself!

Keep on truckin' ladies. We're on a roll! :moped:

Did it guys! Got on the treadmill and did 35 minutes -- 1.6 miles!!!

I know that is not much and it certainly isn't fast, but considering it is the first time I have exercised in almost exactly 2 years (1/23/03), not bad!

My ipod kept me going. Made a playlist of workout music and it was great fun -- just kept telling myself to see what the next song was, and then would figure, what the heck, might as well finish the song!

Thanks for your support. Being accountable to you all will help keep me motivated!

Evening to all

WAY TO GO GROUP!! :cheer2: :cheer2: Everyone is doing such a great job staying on plan!! We are one motivated group!! :cool1:

Christy - glad to hear your son is feeling better. Good Luck with South Beach

Ashley - Hope you are feeling better. Have fainted a couple of times in my life (severe stomach cramps) and it is not the fainting that is the problem but what you hit going down. Hope your temp cracks soon. :flower1:

Keenercam - slow and steady on the TM - you will build up stamina and speed.

Went out to dinner tonight and knew it would be a challenge. I won the portion control by bringing 1/2 the dinner home :Pinkbounc Lost the challenge by having a martini which I didn't need.

Did my exercise this morning and off to do some crunches now.

Happy Friday!!

Have a magical Disney Day!!

:flower1: :flower1: TGIF!!! no flowers around here though, only SNOW!

just in from reshoveling again, hey i'm burning calories. I did my 5th and final workout this morning, Denise Austin's Shrink Your Female Fat Zone (i will have to abbreviate that one next time ;)) and I realized I have let my muscles go to MUSH! this is counterproductive for weight loss. next week I need to commit to 2 times at the Y for strength training. well, baby steps

yesterday I would say I drug my leg against the wheel of the wagon, not quite off but just dangling. I journaled my points and used 10 flex points on this yummy caramel crunch chex mix! do not buy it it was yummy!!!!

thinking of our friend karebear at Castaway Cay today!:boat:

off to shower and start my day after a 2 hour weather delay for school -- then going to watch youngest DD in her school play this afternoon. She has a couple lines and sings in a quartert. she didn't get that gift from her maternal side!

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: Going for the Goal!!!!!

ash -- :wizard: for feeling better, listen to your bod, take care we need you here!

Woo hoo! It's FRIDAY! Major snow is on the way tomorrow. I'm hearing anywhere from 8-12 inches and possibly more for the area I'm in. I think it will be one of those ones where you won't know how much till it's done.

I just signed up today for the Disney 1/2 Marathon and the Ocean City MD 1/2 Marathon. I felt sort of scared after doing it. I felt like I could do anything after the 1/2 this year.

Yesterday went well except water. I got 6 out of 8. Do you count your milk as a water? In my WW book I read that you can count up to 3 non caffeine drinks toward your total? I seem to have a hard time drinking more than 6 plus milk.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Sounds like everyone is doing their best.

Ashley--I hope you are feeling good really soon, that sounds awfully scary!

I drank all my water yesterday which is an accomplishment itself and I am more than halfway there today, so that is a good thing. Drinking it can be so hard as it is so cold here and drinking it makes me feel colder, brr!

I'm worried about the weekend, after all I have only been OP since last weekend. But I know if I really think about what I am putting in my mouth then I will be ok.

Looking forward to tomorrow as I will be checking out the scale, after being off it for the whole week! :jumping4: Hope it is going in the right directions and thanks to the commitment to keep me on track.

Off to go shovel, again! Another round of snow for tomorrow, sounds like we'll be getting the snow after it hits your town MelanieC!

Everyone keep up the great work!!!!!!

I'm totally motivated now! I'm on day three of being cheat free! On the base today we had our building dedicated. We just went through a major renovation and addition. Well after the ceremony there were all sorts of candies, cakes, cookies, sodas...you name it, it was there I could have indulged myself. But nope I thought about this commitment thread, how I would feel right after the first taste of sugar would taste as it touched my tongue and how I would feel like a heel afterwards, I also thought about the little bit of weight I want to lose and how that could hinder that...you guys get it. I turned the other cheek and ate a very thin slice of ham, and turkey (one each) and fruit. I walked back to my desk with my head held high.

Today was a great day : :cloud9:

It sounds like we are all glad that today is Friday. I have done well this week on getting more veggies and water in. I also am getting back on the TM. I did 1-20 min. walk this week and 2-30 min. walks. I plan on getting on there tomorrow and taking Sunday off.

Everyone is doing well and remember when we slip, we just need to realize it and catch ourselves before we go too far. Keep going over the weekend, we can do this together!!

Kim-Awesome job, soldier! You faced the challenge and walked away the victor! :jumping1:

ohMom-great job with the tape, I got that one from my library and quit in the first few minutes. Mushed muscles is right! WTG! :jumping2: BTW I know what you mean about the snow, will it ever end??

Melanie--You go girl! That is a terrific commitment to both the 1/2 marathons, just imagine how you'll do in WDW next year with 2 1/2s under your belt before you cross the start line next year. Have fun in the snow! :thewave:

As for me, could I have a drumroll, please? :rockband:

I got on the scale today and I lost 6+ pounds this week! WOOHOO! :cloud9:

Thanks for keeping me on track and help me keep my focus one day at a time!
I feel so great and am proud that I got to the gym 5 times since Sunday (today is a rest day, except for the snow removal, ugh!), drank lots of water, stayed OP, no eating after 7 (last night I did eat at 7:20--snack incl in my program as it was Fri movie nite at our house), and got almost 7 hours of sleep every night. THANKS!!!

Still no exercise for me after the big scary night... I am going crazy! You know how when they take something away from you it makes you want it more? ALL I want to do right now is run! Remind me that I said this when I am healthy... Please... Someone copy it and PM me with it like... once a day! :D

I went into school yesterday because my fever was down to 97, but then, I got home and it was back up to 102. Maybe I shouldn't have gone after all... I just felt bad. It is only my second week of work and I've already called in sick! So, last night I was back in bed with the chickens (after my TWO AND A HALF HOUR drive home (it usually takes me 30-40 minutes). Being sick does get you out of shoveling snow, though, so that was pretty nice. I wish I could find something that I could eat, though... I want to get on that scale and see how much I've lost because I can't eat anything it seems. (No, I'm not anorexic, but I pretty much puked up toast last night, for those needing more info... I have never been sick like this before, it's weird!)

Anyway, enought about me...

For people having a hard time getting in all 64 oz. of water... I definitely recommend the Nalgene bottles. They are those big plastic ones. They hold 32 oz. I have two, and it is a great visual way to see the water disappearing and know that once you are done with that second one, you have met your water goal for the day. Actually... I think I left my second one in the freezer in WDW. I wonder if I left anything else there? I'll pick another one up at the store. If you get a little hook, they hook so easily onto anything, AND they are dishwasher safe! (just put the top piece on the top rack, otherwise it could melt)

Debbie - Sorry to hear about your uncle... :grouphug:
Your stories about school make me laugh... the math thing is so familiar!

Cam - Congrats on that first workout! Keep a journal going, you'll be amazed at your improvements, and that alone will inspire you to keep going!

Christy - Good luck on South Beach! I don't know that I could do it?

Chrismiss - I have a book called The Martini Diet: The Self Indulgent Weight Loss Plan or something like that... I'll recap it for you once I've read it. Sounds like it could work for us.

Molli - What kind of strength training are you planning to do? I'd like to join you on that bandwagon. Runner's World this month has a strength training plan to help you with your running? Check it out!

Melanie - Uff... I still haven't signed up! WAY TO GO!

Kim - You are so inspiring! I don't know that I could say NO to all those sweets! I wish I could tie a little ribbon around my finger!

Tammy - I like what you said about if we slip, just don't let it go too far. That is so true. So often we figure that since we've slipped, we might as well go "whole hog," instead, just get up and go on... Very nice reminder!

welovedis - 6+ pounds - you are well on your way! Keep it up!

Alright.... off to go find myself some chicken broth or something. Have a great day!! I'll be back later, I'm sure... I'm exercising vicariously through you guys. :cheer2:

Hey gang, it looks like everyone has had a good week...Ashley sorry you are sick take care and get back to 100% soon.

welovedis, way to go on the 6 lb. loss!! :cool1:

For those of you who are getting the "big" snow take care and send some down south, please!

I must confess I have been having a love/hate fest with the TM the last two days...it loves me I have it! :guilty: But I am determined before I put my head on the pillow tonight I will do my 30 minutes. Staying on plan continues not to be difficult although the water is getting kinda old. I weigh in tomorrow morning (hubby takes the reading  ) hopefully it'll be another couple down.

Everyone have a great weekend! And resist those temptations! :grouphug:
