Hi, I will be in WDW Feb 3-8th, and have one family that I will be sending postcards to but wondered if anyone else needs me to sent some more? I do have a question that I have looked for the answer on multiple pages, I have to admit I did not read all 100 plus pages. Do you write the postcards yourself or do you have to meet with the characters to have them write/or sign the postcard? Not sure if we will do any character meals, but since we will be there during a slower time of year, the lines for characters should not be out of control. Planning on attending the pirate and princess party at MK on 2/5 so that should give me some opportunity to meet some characters. The DIS'rs always have the answers, so I'm sure someone will let me know.:confused3

1/21/07 I now have three families to send postcards to, so will have to ask anyone else to please check with another DISer. Wow the requests came quickly, what a fun idea, I am sure the kids will be excited to rec the postcards. Just another reason to love DIS.

I just LOVE this idea!!! I'm so glad I came across this thread.

We will be in Disney for our very first ever trip in April (18-25) and I'm trying really hard to make it extra special. This would be icing on the cake for sure!


And I would definitely love to participate and send out postcards to others once we arrive!

I'm not sure if everyone already has too many to send to but please let me know who would be able to send my 2 boys a postcard and I'll provide all the info. :)

We are going as a Grand Gathering (5 families) on Friday Feb.9th. I know my kids, as well as my nieces/nephews, would be SO excited to get a postcard beforehand. I have PM'd a couple people already but either it didn't work out (my computer died for a week or so) OR I haven't heard back.

Is anyone going in the next few weeks that might be able to send five cards to us stuck here in snowy Kansas? :) I realize five is a lot to ask, but I just thought I'd try!

I am 63 and still love the magic of Disney and we take our 4 special needs, handicapped, medically fragile children there every year. I have a T-Shirt which reads: I have been to Neverland and I am never growing up.
Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional.

Of course, my DD6 is all excited but my DS12 is looking at me kind of suspiciously. He can't figure out how I managed to get a postcard with an Orlando postmark but he clearly suspects that I was involved somehow. And despite all his almost teen attitude - I noticed that he hung it on the fridge!!! Thank you JWWI!!

That is how my DD12 and DH acted, when my Dh received his postcard from Mickey. My DS 4 was so excited and the other two just look at me with that look on how did you do this, no one ever asked how, but you see that look that they are confused. They all talked about Mickey sending the card but as of today 6 mos later no one ever asked how it got to us. It was great.:wizard:

Okay, so I have read some of the posts on the 'Pay it Forward' board, and would love to have someone send a postcard from one of the 'Princesses' to my niece! We are going in April - May, and would love it if someone could send her a post card before our trip telling her how excited they are that she will be coming there soon! She is 3 1/2 and this is her first trip ever to Disney...she is excited beyond compare!

Here's something I have had success with in the past:

Buy your Disney postcards, fill them out, address them to whomever, apply postage. Put them in another envelope with a note which reads something to the effect of "Please Mail Enclosed Card". Address the envelope to "Postmaster", city, state and zipcode of where you want the card to come from. I have done this several times over the years for my DD's and the "Postmasters" have always come through for me.

For any of you who are interested, I just bought a very cool 'mouse ears' shaped postcard at my Hallmark store. It has shiny black ears, and a felt 'cap' portion with the MM Club logo--it is not flat, but you can mail it without an envelope! The writing on the back says 'See Ya Real Soon'--just like the old Mickey Mouse Club TV show (ok, I'm showing my age!). It was expensive, 4.99, but too cool.
This would be especially good if you have kids who can't read or who don't understand 'postmarks'.
Anyway, I have mine up in my office until closer to the time that I'm going with my DS--then I will mail it to her.

A PM is a private message. Just read these posts & see who will be going in the time frame that you need and click on their username and you will see "send a private message". Just give them info of your kids (name, address, character & any special message you want on postcard) and they will tell you if they can send your kids a postcard while they are in the world. You can see if you have any private messages yourself in the top righthand corner of your screen under where it should say Welcome Tomker. Then next time you go to Disney, you can post your trip dates and maybe return the favor for someone else if needed!

Hope your kids get their cards! I just got back so won't be returning for a bit or I would help you out.

I was going to leave it in the room and spread some holiday cheer to whichever family comes in after we leave, but then i thought I don't want to offend anyone, just incase they don't celebrate christmas. also, has anyone ever had a problem giving out things to other children. my girls want to give out stickers to other kids on christmas day. i picked up 500 sheets of disney stickers, but would a parent actually say no to a child sharing with another child?

We sent our postcards after our recent trip...hopefully everyone will be receiving them shortly. This time I found out what characters people liked and then actually hunted down the appropriate character and got a real autograph. It was fun, and theirs looked better than our past attempts. ;)

I believe the rule is that anything left in the room has to be cleaned out it. What we started doing with things like flowers, floats, trees, whatever was finding a family just starting their trip and passing things on, and then encouraging them to do the same. It is fun and no one has ever turned us down. I doubt other families would frown on a gift of stickers from another child. Have a magical holiday!

This will be my family's first time to (WDW). My son got this trip from a Make-A-Wish foundation. SO this is very special to us. I also have a great idea for family's: I had my kids color about 10 pages in their coloring books, I then cut the pages in strips and made rings, for a chain. Every night before the kids go to bed they take a loop off. It's to signify one day closer till we leave. Well, to answer some of the questions.... The kids wouldn't necessarily see you 'Sign' the cards... You wouldn't have to have the characters sign them...What I am going to do is buy some really cool character Post Cards, and fill them out in the hotel room, and mail them from the resort! And you can be any "Character" you want to be!!!! Some of the kids may want to get a post card from Mickey...so you could just say on the card... Heard you'll be visiting me soon, can't wait to see you, Your pal, Mickey!! (Something along those lines!)

To PM someone ... place the cursor over the Users name on any message(ie...Dawner) - then you would Right Click on the name and a drop down menu becomes available. One of the choices is PM (Private Message). Now - if you are a 'Newbie' or haven't sent 6 replies yet...you will be unable to send a PM until you have replied to 6 or more Dis Discussions!!

Just got back yesterday (still decompressing) and I was thinking of writing the same note. Disney seems to have discontinued character postcards (except for Mickey & Minnie and the Princesses). Sometimes it's possible to find groups of characters, so I sent some of those, too. I wasn't very impressed with the "new" postcards, either. Sometimes change is definitely NOT a good thing. Another thing, they should really have one or more postcards for each resort. When we were at POR last year, one of the CMs told us that they had run out and new postcards were being created. They didn't have any this year, either, and the CM I asked about it didn't even know if there had ever been resort post cards!

We were down last year and I sent some postcards out also. The best place I found with a really big selection wasn't even at disney, it was the Walmart on U S 27. They had lots of different characters like Buzz, Woody, Lots of Tinker Bell and of course Micky and Minnie etc..... They were also cheaper.

My daughter rcvd her postcard from Jasmine. Long story, but hopefully will have a happy ending. Jasmine is her favorite princess. We were at Disneyland and a cm told us jasmine is there on Monday through Friday. Well, they had it backwards and she is only there on weekends. Almost 2 years later, she is still talking about how she missed princess jasmine. I had to promise her no matter what we will meet Jasmine face to face. (any help on following through on that promise would be great) Her postcard said that she can't wait to see my daughter in December. She got the mail and called all of her friends. the postcard is now hanging over her bed. She was so excited!!!! We just returned from Disney and had fun writing postcards. Just want to warn others that the post card selection throughout Disney was very limited. I think we checked most major gift shops at each park and down town disney. Fortunately we had a rental car and planned some off-site shopping and found a broader selection at the discount stores (WalMart) and drug stores (CVS).

I arrived home last night from a wonderful trip. Hope everyone on my list enjoyed the post cards!

I wanted to mention that the list of characters on post cards is limited; however, you can find a set of 10 postcards for $5.00. The selection in this packet of cards is pretty good. I purchased one with the main characters and one with princesses. Purchased mine from MouseGear in EPCOT, but also saw these packets available at the Emporium in MK.

I saw mailboxes on main street. They are old fashion iron ones, green I think. There was a sign on it though that said something like mailboxes are emptied daily by disney personnel so don't mail anything important from them I've never seen a mailman in Disney World. We payed it forward in December using these mailboxes and the postcards got to the children. They are not stamped with anything special saying they were mailed from Disney World. I think it says Lake Buena Vista.

AKMOM...Yes there are mailboxes on Main Street. By using these, the postcards are postmarked with a special WDW postmark.

I had some people request special messages and some who didn't give me a specific message, but told me when their trip would be or a special place they were going to eat.

Loads of fun. I bought my stamps before I left and just bought the postcards one day and mailed them the next.

I love this idea. I didn't want to PM anybody as I live in Canada and the postage rates are different.

We are going for the first time in November.

My family will be going at the end of Sept to the begining of Oct. I would love to send a few cards perhaps 10. I cannot promise a certian character, it seems in previous posts there has been difficulty finding the exact ones requested. I can also say I will do my best to meet all requests, but may have to defer to whatever is available, something disney, of course. Or an exact mailbox location, but yes from somewhere on Disney. I know it is far in advance, so I figure I will try to send a reminder to those who respond just to make sure plans haven't changed.
So I guess letting me know choice of character and any special message along with you address would be great.

First I wanted to say that my daunt and dd Nikki 16, both received their postcards. Thank-you so much! I handed it to dd and she said, "who sent this?" and I kept saying, "mickey and minnie" and she kept saying, "c'mon mom, who REALLY sent these?" and I kept up with the same answer as she kept up with the same question, :rotfl2: until she finally gave up :lmao:. I had came to this board a while back, and orginally asked that a post card be sent to my dd 6 since she still believes. I had three people say they would, so I figured all right, I'll ask that one person write to each of my guests that I'm taking to Disney. In return, we had planned to send the same post cards out to those people saying that WDW missed them. Can you believe everyone else got their postcard besides dd 6, so today the tears started. I felt so bad, and she kept saying, "I just don't understand why no one wanted to send me a postcard" (talking about the characters) :sad2: So, I hate to ask, because I'm sure the person sending her's didn't forget, but is there anyway someone would be interested in trading post cards who is going very soon to wdw? By trade, I mean I want to return the same favor, so the deal is we will send a postcard in September when we go. If you could do this huge favor for me, and you're going soon, please pm me. We'd be forever grateful.
P.S. I hope I didn't offend the person who is planning to send to my dd, because it was probably poor planning on my behalf :scared:, and thank-you for signing up. If they did and the postcard got lost, we totally understand :thanks:

There is a mailbox in the World Showcase at Epcot that will put the WDW cancellation on items sent from there. All I remember is that it is located in a smoking area somewhere dead center of the rear area of the WS.

I'm going May 25th through June 10th. I'll take names for those families visiting in the month of July. Up to the first twenty or so children.

If you will PM me with the name, age and favorite character as well as the visit dates, I will be happy to make it as special as I can. I will try to mail as many as I can from the Epcot mailbox.

This is a very good idea, and thought this would be a neat way to tell the kids we'll be going to DW when we're down there (right now they think we're just going to the beach in Florida.) Unfortunatly, I'm very new to the boards, having just found them today, so I can't PM yet. We'll be down there June 16th to the 23rd.

PM is private message. These are usually handled through this newgroup, so you don't have to give out your home email address. If you click on the posters screenname, there is an option to send a private message to them.
