Click on the persons name that you want to respond to, hou will get a drop down menu and one will say something like "send a private message to ******" click on that and then you can send them a PM (private message) listing your childs name, address, favorite character and I alway preferred the exact message the person wanted on the postcards.

Hi! You try to find someone who is going to Disney a week or two(or more) before you. They send your children a postcard saying "Can't wait for you to come see me next week!", etc. Then you allow someone to contact you so that you can send them a postcard while your family is there in June.

SOOOOOOO glad to find this thread! My boys got a postcard announcing our Disney Cruise (and re-booked cruise ;) ) last year. Pure Magic :wizard: Then the three of us spent a good twenty minutes in the post office at Castaway Cay sending out a little 'magic' to other folks. Fun!
We are booked for another cruise, but considering the parks instead. If we do...I will be asking for someone to 'pay it forward'...

I just wanted to make a sugestion, maybe those of you who do not have kids old enouph to know post marks could just buy your own cards and put them in the mail box for your child to "find".

Just an idea because I know the cards could get expensive also it would be good for those who are leaving sooner then there child could have one sent thru the mail.

Anyway, about 1.5 months ago, a nice lady sent my two girls a postcard from Minnie & Mickey, awaiting their arrival. My eight year olds face was priceless the day she received itt! (My 2 year old thought it was cool too!) She was so excited that she brought it to school to show her class, and when I spoke to her teacher last week, she thought it was such a great idea!
We would like to return the favor......... First 3 to PM w/ info will get a post card!

My understanding is that there is only one place in Downtown Disney that you can mail postcards which will have a Disney postmark. They have an actual postage machine (not stamps) if I understand it correctly since I've never used it. I believe it is the scrapbook store. All other locations (we've mailed from resorts, Magic Kingdom, and Epcot) all have the Orlando postmark.

2~You can mail from any resort or park, but someone on this thread said to get an actual 'Disney Postmark' you have to mail them from the scrapbook store in Downtown Disney (Can anyone confirm that?)

When I created my DisBoards account this was the one of the first threads I read. I thought it was serioulsy one of the sweetest things I have ever seen. I do not have any children (FH and are as excited as children, but I didn't think it counted :rotfl: ) but I would love to do it for 3 other families who would like this done.

I have a 12 year old daughter who loves all the princesses (especially Jasmine, but also Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty etc...). We are leaving for Disney World April 21st (1st trip for her & my hubby-2nd for me but that was many years ago as a teenager). Is there anyone who lives in Florida who has a princess type card at home & would be willing to mail it to my daughter, or who is leaving for DW within the next couple of days & would be willing to send it to her? I just found this thread by accident and think it is the coolest idea. Mid June will be our Disney trip. We have twins, a DD and DS and before they were born my Dad asked when we were going to take them to Disney. I said when they are 5! And here it is. My parents are coming with us and everyone is so excited. Would anyone be able to send a postcard to each of my children? DD loves princesses - especially Belle and Sleeping Beauty (which she calls Sleeping Judy!) and my DD is all about Buzz and Stitch! I would greatly appreciate it. OK...Don't think I am trying to put a bad spin on this because I love the idea and have already had someone offer to do this for my kids this year. (Thanks again).

I just thought I would make a suggestion when you give someone your info to mail your children) the postcards...Do not tell them the exact dates you will be going. Take your count down off your signature too. Think about it for a second...You are giving a complete stranger your home address, and dates you will be away from home.

We have house guest that will be here to "house sit" while we are gone so it was no big deal for me but...I am sure we are not all going to have this opt.

Just give them a month you are requesting them send it in.

I would love to think only honest & loving :hippie: users are on here but can never be to careful...

But please keep this going. It is a great idea and I am sure my children will think it is wonderful!

I started this thread a while ago never knowing that it would amount to this. I also like to post a warning once in a while to reminder everybody to also be careful of giving out their kids personal info or posting it online. Dawn, my card came from "mickey and the gang" and didn't include his autograph but my kids weren't concerned with that. I've asked for ideas from the parents on what the cards should say and/or what character should be on the card, but my plan is to get them the first day we arrive and write them while my kids are sleeping. That way they don't see them and I'll mail them right away..... so I don't forget.

I just spent a week at WDW and post cards are getting hard to find. Lots of fireworks, castle, princesses & Mickey Mouse. No Pooh cards at all except for a special card at MGM at the artist tour exit. Then I went shopping off park property and found a much larger selection - Pooh, Pooh & Tigger, Tigger,Donald Duck, etc. I guess not that many folks are sending post cards these days - they use the email machines at EPCOT. I was looking for a Goofy card, Tigger card, Prince Charming, Capt. Hook, etc.

Ok...I have responses to me offering to send out postcards (can do manybe one more too)...anyhow...my question is this...since this is obviously my first time doing this...

How do most of you write the postcards? Isn't anyone worried that the kids will notice, once they get the character's signature, that they will notice a difference in hand writing? And what types of things do you write on the cards? Also, any other experienced postcard senders out there who would like to share 'how' they do this would be great.

I am just asking for suggestions. My daughter is so excited that we are doing this and is planning to do most of it on her own, so any suggestions would be appreciated.

All Disney resorts have a mailbox in the lobby for out going mail.
Finding the mailbox was easy :thumbsup2 ...The hard part was find stamps...not all gift shops carry stamps and a few I went to were simply out of stock. I thought I could buy disney stamps ** at disney.....but this are issued by the US post office and are not available at disney.

My best advice to those planning on sending out post cards.....buy your stamps from home. Learn from my mistake...I had 14 cards to send out and went looking for stamps at 6 different stores.

I just got 2 postcards delivered this week- one to my Mom and Dad and one to my DS3. I had cleaned out my PM box and couldn't find the screen names of who to thank so it made me think of a suggestion.

Maybe those sending a postcard could write in the bottom corner really small their screen name. I know no one does this for recognition, but I am sure the requester would appreciate being able to report back the reactions of the receiver. It really makes me smile to see all of the magic being spread around. Who would imagine a little postcard could have such an impact on a kid! wow... you all are awesome! I just sent a request for a postcard to my son and I am so excited to see it in the mail! fun fun fun!

I really want to return the favor to a few families. He and I (dad is deployed to the middle east) will be at WDW from Sept 30 - Oct 7. If anyone has a request, I would love to try to honor that.

I just came across this idea, possibly too late to have one sent to my son since we are leaving next week. This is a great idea. I would be happy to send post cards to the children of the first 5 or 6 pms that I get. as with the others just tell me the character, date you are visiting, and your childs name and i would be happy to send out post cards. I will pm the first couple of responses that I am able to accomodate.

We returned from WDW very late last night. Our flight was delayed over three hours! I sent cards for the following: cinderellacorky, jazznms, RedDawg and SnowWhite607. I hope everyone received their post cards.

One comment for anyone who will be sending cards . . . make sure you check the required postage. Some of the postcards are different sizes and require $0.39 rather than the standard $0.24. It would be disappointing to find out that someone didn't receive a card because there wasn't enough postage on it. Annmarie

Thank you to the folks that sent cards to my daughter, nieces and nephews!! They are starting to arrive and everyone is trying to figure out how they got them!! My five-year old nephew has been carrying his around with him ever since he got it and shows it to everyone !!!

Thank you to 2princes&1princess for the awesome postcards for my kids. My oldest (6) was thrilled to get "an invitation". They were all holding them and screaming with excitement (ages 6, 4 & 2). Great job picking out the characters! They had to call their auntie to let them know they got them and they hoped her kids (ages 14 & 15) got theirs too (we are meeting them there but I didn't have any sent to them).

This such a great idea!! BTW, we'll be there in 8 days so the first 5 to respond with info: I'll send you some cards.

Last year we did the pay it forward... before we left all 3 of my kids recieved postcards and STILL have them pinned to there corkboards! We sent out postcards from the parks while we were there and had so much FUN picking them out. Definately a family moment. We would love to repeat that again this year so we will be in the world August 12th through the 28th. We could send out postcards for anyone going in the begining of September. I anyone going before that wouldn't mind sending my 3 kiddo's their own postcards?

We will be heading to WDW July 7-15th. My DS13 isn't interested in receiving postcards anymore, but I'd love to brighten someone's day by sending a few out! I can mail out postcards during the July 10-15th time period to the first 3 families to PM me with their children's names, address, favorite character or postcard picture preference and who the postcard should be from. Be sure to mention your vacation dates (if you have a trip planned) so I can include that in the message.

If you have something special you'd like it to say or any other things that would make it even more magical, please be sure to include those details! Families with multiple children can ask for a favorite character to write to each child individually.

I'm here at WDW and am having a very hard time finding decent postcards. I'm staying at the WL and have looked at a few shops at MK. Is there a place in particular to find some good ones (princesses, Toy Story, Mickey/Minnie)? Also, if I send out one of the "shaped" ones, would 2 stamps be sufficient?
