We have planned a trip to DisneyWorld for 18 days (11/3-11/21) but she has no idea. Her birthday is on 10/21 and we plan to tell her then. My family is going in Sept. 2005. On property from 18th to 24th. I would be happy to send a few cards. PM me. I think this is a great idea! I was planning on sending some cards I picked up last trip to WDW (prestamp them) and asking someone at WDW to drop them in the mail. Has anyone else every done this? My DD will be turning 6 on our trip (my mom will be turning 66). Does anyone have any room on there list to add one more for September?

Also, we were also there last September just before my DD 5th birthday, and I found a few Disney Princess brithday cards (at Walmart) and had the appropriate character sign them. The characters thought this was a great idea! Jasmine in MK was especially happy to do it and when we went to see Ariel in the Judge's tent, the other Princesses and cast members in the room kept my daughter distracted while the Princesses sign their cards. Ariel practically wrote a small novel! They were so helpful, I almost cried. Anyway, I mailed the cards on our last day, and they arrived around her birthday. She couldn't believe she got cards from the Princesses. These cards are ones we will keep for always.

So far one card from Cinderella showed up today for my littler girl, but nothing for the other girls, so i told her that belle probably send it after Cinderella!

BTW to all the PPL i've promise to send cards! I'll do it, we already have a list with all the names, characters and i made labels with the parks logo on them, i went and got 2 sheets of 23 cent stamps, and also set disney dollar money aside just for this, so i hope everybody else does what they promise!!

Just a little heads up about postcards at WDW. There are not a whole lot of choices and very few single character postcards. I did find a couple with a group of three princesses and one or two with Mickey and gang, but there wasn't much to choose from, at least not like it was on our trip a couple years ago.

we go at Walgreens along rt 192 and just bring the post cards to the park and have the Character sign it, they are even nice enough to add a little note for the recipient... :confused3

I think that this is a great idea. I would like to join in and would love to have my son and 2 nephews receive a postcard, the only thing is is that we will be getting there on August 15 so I am not sure if there is time. When I started this thread last Jan. I had no idea it would carry on so, Let me first say thank you to all the folks that have shared the pixie dust, this is what makes the DIS community great wanting to share the feelings and the happiness especially with a child

That said I might be making a return suprise trip ina few weeks, when I know for sure I will ask that magic qustion again, will only be able to do 3-5 cards my wife and I will be flying down for a long weekend so not allot of time down there.

I was fascinated by this thread when I read this that I went back and read through all the threads...this was an awesome idea!! I'd love to get involved as well - my family is going to WDW the last week of January and my 4 year old son is absolutely beside himself waiting to go to "Mickey and Buzz's house"...

If anyone would like me to send cards in January, send me a PM and I will gladly pass on the Pixie Dust...would anyone be able to send one to my son from either Mickey or Buzz - although beggars are not choosers, I'd love for him to get something - anything! I have already looked thru my old trip souveniers and can't find a single postcard, otherwise I'd send it to him myself! This is an awesome idea - just think of how many children it's touched! How exciting! Any help would be appreciated!!

I live in the Seacoast area now about 5 minutes from UNH but I grew up in Keene so I know your side of the state well.

Good to hear back from you Dave. Are you staying on site in September if you go? We will be staying at the Wilderness Lodge in January...we've never stayed there before so we're excited about that. We went round and round about where to stay and had it narrowed down to the Contemporary and the WL, so hopefully the next time we go we can stay at the Contemporary. It's been a long time favorite of mine.

I'm really looking forward to going...I just hope the next 5 months FLY by!! I can't wait to see WDW thru my son's eyes...I remember how amazing it was to see how my husband was the first time he went and I just can't wait to experience it with our little boy!

We will be staying at the Pop Century resort. I am still wondering if that is a good choice we have never stayed at a value resort before but for a three day weekend for wife and myself it should be fine.

Going back in Jan. And most likely will be staying at least part of trip at WL if not he hwole thing. I tried to get ressies today for Contemp and am being told they have NO availability from 2 different sources but I suppose they both get their info from the same place in the end. I will wait and see what happens.

My DH and I are going to be in WDW Oct 1-7th for our 5th anniversary. We don't have any kids ourselves, but would love to make a kiddo's day. Hey Goofydad - sorry - I didn't see your post - been off line for a couple of days...Pop Century should be fine for you two...maybe even a trip down memory lane - back to the days of big wheels and riding bicycles without helmets, etc...! It's a wonder we all survived! We actually had to adjust our dates AGAIN as the original time slot we wanted, we were told that WL was pretty much full...AAA agent also quoted us $800 less than Contemporary which pretty much decided it for us. So we moved it to the 26th of Jan thru Feb 3rd (I can't remember the last time we "posted" so you may or may not know that) and they had more availability at WL (although still no Jr. Suites like I wanted)...BUT it works - my birthday falls right in the middle on the 31st so I'm pretty psyched about that...if only I can drop enough hints to my hubby to make the most of it while we're there...I want a MAGICAL BIRTHDAY!!! Don't I sound like a 5 year old?? I'm thinking I'd have to call the hotel myself and tell them it's my birthday just to be "surprised" with balloons or something!! LOL...But great - so maybe if the timing is right, we'll see you there!!! I'll be listening for a NH accent!!! :-)

On you Bday make sure you get the It's my Birthday button I have heard that sometimes they will scoot you to the head of the line but all the CM's will wish you a H.B. and make you feel very important and special. It was or anniversary when we where there and I bought my DW a string of pearls at the Wyland gallery in the Poly, they wee on sale, still a bit expensive but the LOML will always remember where they came from and when.

OMG - it would be TOO funny if DH got some pixie dust from someone!! ANYONE I think would be awesome...I'll never forget the last time we were there - it was his first time at WDW and the very first night we got there we ate at 1900 and I think he fell in lust with just about every waif in the place...you could actually see his head expanding :love: every time one of the girls called him "my lord" or "sire"...I was LMAO at him :rotfl2: ...and so started his magical vacation! Any princess OR villian for that matter would be such a cool surprise! I'd owe you HUGE if you could do that! Use your imagination...it'll be awesome!! :smooth: I'll PM you my info later on today. I hope you and your wife enjoy yourselves next month...can't wait until my DH and I get a quiet vacation! We're going to try and do that every other year at least...last year was Aruba, so this one will be a family vacation, BUT I intend on taking advantage of the kids clubs at least one night while we're there! First let me start by saying how completely WONDERFUL everyone is and specially the person who sent my DD a post card about a week ago. She absolutly LOVED it. The card was so beautiful and perfect for her. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. SHe fell to the floor in shock. She still can't figure out how the Princesses know she'll be in WDW for her 5th Birthday. Thank You So Very Much!!!!

I thought this was such a great idea. I offered to send 10 postcards and only got one response. I thought maybe people just weren't reading the sticky threads so I also posted another message telling people to check out this thread. Hopefully I'll hear from someone. I just think it will be so much fun to pick out postcards and send while we are there knowing how excited the kids will be when they receive them.

I just wanted to reiterate the comments from Goofydad -

It may be the reason that some of the volunteers to send cards may not be getting the responses that they had hoped or thought they would get....Just a thought - unfortunatly we live in a VERY scary world for children (and adults) and while this thread is supposed to represent a good and positive idea and encourage happiness and pixie dust we as adults still have to protect our kids and understand that there are sickos out there who prey on boards and threads like this to gather information - sorry didn't mean to bring anyone down especially on this thread.....so on a happy note....... :banana: :banana: :banana:

I will offer once again to send post cards to kiddos while we are there October 8-14. And information I can provide to the recipent family to make them feel better about providing me info I will gladly share in a PM.....

My kids have gotten postcards from kind DISers' once before and it was so nice, and we already have someone from the boards sending them a card before our trip.

Just so you know, I usually find a Mickey postcard and the message is "I heard you're coming soon - I can't wait to see you! Love Mickey. Or a princess or Minnie card for girls. As someone else wrote, there doesn't seem to be a lot of variety in the postcards in the parks so I do my best to handle a special request.

I learned about this here in the DIS and I must say that it is a wonderful thing to do for kids! I agree security is an issue, your info will be safe with me. We don't even live in the US.... (if that helps :goodvibes ) and we will be mailing before leaving.

And if there's someone going before us, I'd appreciate if you could send one to my kids! And we do have a special service to receive mail in the US that it is forwarded to our country so it is regular mail, not to be sent outside the US.

OK - I have been "read only" on DIS for a long time. Have learned a lot of great stuff but never felt the need to register and write. I'm not really much of a writer and always figured there was somebody who knows as much or more than me who would post answers anyway........ BUT I just found this thread and became compelled to join the fray. My two children are grown and I cherish the memories of our Disney vacations along with all the magic. So, anything that I can do to help bring a little Disney magic into other childrens lives is OK with me.

My wife and I will be at WDW 10/12 thru 10/18 for our aniversary. 27 terrific years that started with our honeymoon at WDW in '78.

We would be thrilled to participate in this "pay it forward" program. We will send cards to the first 3 that PM.

The look are dd's face was priceless, she kept giggling and jumping up and down. I also have a couple of postcards to send to Canada and I checked in www.usps.com and international shipping is US$0.70. I am planning to get some Disney booklets of stamps to use for the postcards. Hope this helps.

Just went to the post office on Friday to get the stamps that I will need when I send my postcards. Postage to Canada is only $.50 for a postcard. However, for the postcard that I'm sending to Australia it is $.70.

You can send them from the hotel. At one time you could drop them in the mail box outside of city hall in the MK and they would actually be stamped / cancelled from the MK (or so I was told) but not sure if tht is true anymore.

Second I posted this a couple of month's ago and just want to remind folks that even though we all share a love of Disney there are some who cruise these kind of boards that are not of the same sort. Please just remember that these boards are open to the public and be comfortable to those that you send your personel information too, specially about kids. This came to mind because in my small part of the world in rural New Hampshire yesterday someone tried to talk a 7 yr old girl into his truck as she was waiting for the school bus in her driveway. The girl did the right thing yeld no and ran back up her driveway her mom had been watching from the window and came flying out. The guy split and everything is ok but just reminded me that it can be a hard world out there. Sorry for not so magical thoughts but far better to be safe then sorry.

I agree with this. DBF and I sent out 6 postcards on our trip about two weeks ago and have not heard a single thing from anyone we sent to. It is a very nice thing for people to take time out of their vacations to send your children (or you) a postcard. The least anyone can do is send out a thank you. :sad2:

I think this is a great idea! One of our fairy godmailers said that her daughter got some at the time of her graduation. Why keep the magic only when you are going to visit the magic. If there are people willing to share the magic then let's share :wizard:
