I havent read each page of this post but from the start it sounded like a wonderful idea... I was wondering if someone call tell me the postcard thats being sent out to another child... Is it signed by the actual character or by a dis member w/ a message? I would love to receive one and I would love to pay it forward as well...

When I've sent postcards (and when my kids received them) they've been signed by the character. I even do this for adults as I figure it helps spread the magic. My kids are old enough now to know that it's not really from the characters and my 14yo even said it was lame. But then he got to thinking about it and later told me that it was kind of neat. Leave it to a teenager to be contrary, eh?

So, we have promised her a trip when she learns to use the potty. (When I asked her what it would take, this is what she asked for...guess the candy and stickers we were giving her aren't enough! :rotfl: ) Is someone going in the next weeks/month that would be willing to send her an encouraging postcard from Mickey? A lot of people do this already, but I wanted to suggest (again?) that you update your post when you have found someone to either send your kids cards or to send cards to. That way you don't keep getting PM'd with requests or offers!

First off I'll admit that I didn't spend "too" much time searching for my answer as with 155 pages and 3 years worth of posts, I wasn't confident I'd find the answer. I'm sure it's probably there, but with that much to go through I'd most likely miss it.

It looks like a lot of the post cards are sent to kids who will be coming to Disney; but how about ones that have recently been there? I have friends who are bringing their two kids to Orlando in April; I will be there at the end of May and am thinking a card from Mickey saying something along the lines of "it was great seeing you last month" might make their day. I can't have it say "....and I hope to see you soon again" as there is a third child on the way, so this will be their last big trip for a while.

Our 7-1/2 year old son is SO excited about this trip! However, we are worried that we might make him eventually like it less since we are referencing all things he would like purchased now until we leave on March 30th as "Hey! we are saving for the trip to Disney World. We have to save money for this cool trip!"

This is my first post here, so I hope it works....if you do not have someone who's able to send a post card to you, I'll offer a suggestion. (This is what we did with our DS & DD last summer.)

I just got on the computer & found some Cinderella stationary/graphics. I typed a really "fancy" letter, specifically addressed to my DD. Not only did Cinderella inform us that she saved us a special table in her castle, she also noted that she got my DD ressies at Bibbidi Boppiti Boutique.

The first night we were in the World, after the kiddos were asleep, we just put the letter right against the inside of our hotel door (like someone had slipped it under the door.) The next morning, she was THRILLED!!!! I think it was more exciting that way, than if she'd found out about the ressies before we left. (We kept telling her, "Oh, we don't know if we'll be able to get in...breakfast is all booked up." --which it was!! we had to settle for lunch ;) Hope this helps! Have a wonderful & safe trip!

PS---Anybody in the World in early/mid May? Our little one's would love a postcard, and we'll send 3 out.....we'll be there early June through June 20th. Thanks!!

Hope we can help make some majic for someone. Using my scrapbooking supplies and stickers I will decorate some luggage tags with your childs favorite character, their name and other pertinent info, like medical, where you are staying, a cell phone number. You attatch the tag to a belt loop. This way if your little one gets seperated froom you the person finding them can return them to you promptly. I find my DD is more likely to keep it on her since it is personalized. Just pm me with the info. I can do about 9 of them. No question is stupid. We were all new at one time.

PM = private message. I believe you have to have a certain number of posts on the boards before you can do a private message, but that's what it is.

DD = dear daughter. You'll also see DS (dear son), DH (dear hubby) and DW (dear wife -- unless it's King Charming posting and then he's probably talking about his demented wife -- me! :rotfl2: )

Nope, it doesn't sound stupid at all. It took me quite some time to figure out what the acronyms here mean.

Anyway, PM is Personal Message, which is a way of sending a message directly to another board member, so that only they can see it. It is very similar to email, only it goes through the message boards.

DDS, I'm not quite sure about. DS = Dear Son, DD = Dear Daughter, etc.

I was at WDW two weeks ago, and the availability of character specific postcards was very low to non-existent! All the parks had the same 10 postcards, and there were *no* specialty characters (Buzz, Woody, Lightening McQueen, Tigger, etc.) on any cards. All Mickey & Minnie, package sets of park scenes, and a princess package set. Perhaps the inventory was low or they're switching out seasonal material, but I had a heck of a time filling my Pay-It-Forward requests.

Just wanted folks to know that if you request a particular character, it may not be available, so please don't skewer the Fairy Godmailer! :wizard:

We went on a Disney Cruise this past Jan. Sometime around the beginning of Jan. We received a postcard in the mail. It was addressed to my family and it was signed by "Mickey." The post card did not appear to be from WDW, as it said Florida accross the top and had a regular pic of Mickey, Minnie and Goofy on innertubes. The stated that Mickey was excited to see us on our upcoming trip and hoped we would have a great time.
I can not for the life of me figure out who sent it to us!:confused3 I don't recall having posted on this thread for a postcard and everyone in our family swears they did not send it. I know they would have told us it was them by now and the postmark was Dayton, OH. None of our mail comes thru this area. Maybe it truely is magical!;)

My family will be down at WDW May 8-26th. If you'd like me to send postcards to your children or anyone else (sent a few surprise postcards to DH's last year), just PM me. I'm happy to do 20 or so.

A couple things I learned from last time. The more information you give, the easier it is. In addition to the obvious name & address, let me know what you'd like me to say or at least give me an idea of what's going on - birthday, upcoming trip, etc.

And please add at least 3 characters they might like to receive a card from. Last September I discovered it's not as easy as you'd think to find character postcards. It always seems there are thousands of postcards with different characters on them at every shop in the parks, resorts, DTD. But there are fewer choices than you'd imagine. :confused3

I'll do my best to get the #1 choice but give me at least 2 alternate choices.

Recently Verandah Man very kindly sent my little niece and nephew cards each .. they were overjoyed and it almost made their mum cry!

Anyway, I have managed to convince my 2 girlfriends that Disney is the holiday they want next year (:rolleyes1 ).. they've never been before and although they're excited, it's a long way off for them.

Would anybody be willing to send a card over to the UK for them please? They work in the same office and I think it would be great if a postcard arrived there from Mickey and Minnie.

My son is 4.5 and he'd LOVE to get a postcard saying something like "See you Soon". He loves Mickey, and I think he has a little crush on Minnie (he still talks about how she let him kiss her on the nose :lovestruc ) but really any non-princessy character would do. Only problem is that we're leaving next week, so it would have to go out really soon. You'd think with all the time I spend here, I would have seen this thread before. :headache:
