I will take matted poems in group A and tags in B. My theme will be swimming at the pools. I am working on my June 2004 trip right now and I took lots of pictures of us swimming. This will give me a great incentive to work on them.

Hello - I'll take the two journal boxes double matted...does a Mickey icon count as a theme or do I need something more? What's an embellished square? I can do that in B with a princess theme once you tell me what it is and what size. :)

Limmer

An embellished square is a cut out square, or two that you embellish with stickers, eyelets etc. They are usually around 1". I will see if I can find some pics for you.

I was torn between Hoop Dee Doo, the tea party, the pirate cruise, and Chef Mickey's, but I think I've finally decided.

Can I have Chef Mickey's?? Please? Please? Please? I'd like to do photo mats in Group A and journal boxes in Group B.

I can't wait to get started!

Well, dagnabbit! I've already changed my mind. I still want to do Chef Mickey's and the photo mats in Group A, but I'd like to do a paper piecing in Group B instead of the journal boxes. Would that be OK?

Sorry that I'm new to some of this but I just wanted to ask - we make what we sign up for and send it to Franne right? And we make one item that we sign up for - so if I picked Borders I'd make a border on whatever theme I pick right?

Limmer
01-12-2005, 01:33 PM
Cruise04 - you would make 2 borders (if that is what you chose) for EACH person that signs up. So if 20 people sign up you would make 40 borders and send then to Franne.

Nope, not too late! As long as there are open spots we are still open :)
A journal box is just a double matted piece with room on it to write. There are examples here from another swap we did:

Okay quick question....after reading another thread on how this swap thing works...I was wondering if I'm understanding it right. Let me know if I'm wrong...after picking a catagory...and making 20 some items from your catagory...like toppers...you ship them to the swap leader and in return you'll get something from everyone else..one thing from each catagory (some catagories had multiple items due...like squares 4 and 2 jounal boxes...) But in your group/bundle you get you'll be getting a variety of themes...like Typhoon lagoon, or pooh. Am I right so far? Well my biggest question...if I'm understanding it so far is...are there ever any swaps that are narrowed down more....like a Disney Cruise??? Seeing that on a cruise you wouldn't be going to Typhoon Lagoon or hanging with pooh much...I just wondered. As you can guess I'm working on a DCL album and would love to join in a swap for related items.

It sounds like you got it :) The Cruise swap will be the next swap we do when this one is over. We just finished the swaps for the theme parks, we did one swap for each one. The items you get can be used for other pages too since they are versitile :)

:D

Okay...I changed my mind...go ahead and keep me in this one...I'm going to pick Toppers and Journal boxes. (I see the Journal boxes in A is full but the one for B has a spot...) So I'll need to do Journal boxes for A and Toppers for B...or what ever way it will work...I don't remember at this point which one was full and what one had an opening  ). I'll think of my theme and get back to you....ASAP.

Um, Franne? I had posted in #30 that I'd like to add Princess Toppers to Group B, but it evidently got missed. I see that there are 2 people doing Toppers in that group as of this morning. Is it possible to have 3 people doing the same element? I'm not sure that I feel confident about doing any of the things that are left, but I'd really like to do Group B as well.

Any suggestions?

I missed that there was still an opening for borders. I guess you can put me down for Princess borders in group B. I hope I can get that many done. :(

Another question: Are the squares supposed to be 1 inch & then matted? Or are they supposed to be 1 inch finished size?

01-13-2005, 11:57 AM
WOW - you guys are VERY talented!!!!

I've decided I'm going to pass this time. I'm afraid that I might commit and then won't be able to get done without stressing too much. Since it was mentioned that Cruise is next, I'll wait for that one since I'm working on my cruise book as well (although would hope to be done by then) and should have some items left over that I can either use or have some ideas that ended up looking great that I can make for others to use.

Thanks for all of these clarifications too. It will help when I participate next.

ROFL, you are such a hoot! If you want eyelets, you just buy 6 per person in your theme. They make all different themed eyelets. I did that for the last swap and my theme was the living seas, so I bought shell and fish ones.
They are easy since you just buy them and don't make them :D

OK - I deserved that! ;) I keep asking dopey questions, but I did actually know you bought the eyelets.

It's just that I used to set eyelets into fabric to make clothes when DS was an infant & they were a real bugger to do! I've also been reading over on ScrapJazz & several other sites about how much trouble people were having with them.

Please tell me you're not going to put 6 eyelets in a baggie & send them to us! (I was hoping to get a few that someone else had already done the hard part...same as the shaker boxes. ;))

So am I still wrong or do I finally have this "right"? To do eyelets (not that I'm volunteering, mind you!) you buy some ;) & set them into paper - your choice of how it's done. As in one person might set them into a tag type piece and another might choose to set them into a long piece such as a border....or even set 6 star-shaped eyelets into a Topper for Wishes. Is that it?

This is the best part about eyelets......you don't do anything with them! You buy them, put them in a baggie, and send them in! No setting or anything! :cool1:

OK Franne, I went back and reread the list.
Do I have to committ to two different things?
Or just one, The embellished picture frames?

Can you explain a shaker box?
I'm giving some thought for the type of frames... Basic Disney colors?
Or princess colors? Any suggestions?
Thanks again!
Kathy

It's up to you, if you commit to 2 things, one needs to be from Group A and one from Group B. I will put you down for the frames in B, and they can be any colors that go with your theme, it's up to you. The only thing left in A is the Shaker Box. Here is a link to a picture of one- http://albums.photo.epson.com/j/ViewPhoto?u=4084831&a=31336693&p=68915985
Basically it has beads or something that "shakes" inside, I am not sure how they are contructed, maybe someone else out there can help. I kow they use the 3D foam dots. Let me know if you would like that.

My DD has been wanting to join a swap and she loved the fibers so I thought I would ask her for this. She is so excited. Of course, I will over see her, but she is pretty good.

Some themes could be

Castle
Magical Memories
DownTown Disney
transportation, buses boats,
waiting in lines, crowds
restaurants, eating, menus

Let's see if I can come up with some more

Diana, I hope you don't mind, I moved you to Group A instead of B. I hope that's not a problem. I had MomtoMadi listed 2x in A and none in B.

WDWMom- That's great, let me know what she wants to make and the theme.

To everyone- Please check and make sure you are down for the right elements. As of right now we have openings in Group A - shaker box
Group B- paper piecing and Shaker box.
As soon as those are filled, the swap will be closed and I can send you all the info :Pinkbounc

OK, I talked to DD (goofygirl0207) after school today about the swap, SHE WAS SOOOO EXCITED!!! I should have figured that she would want to do "goofy" as her theme!! (Duh, mom?!?) So, immediately after her tumbling class :cheer2: we went to AC Moore and purchased some "goofy colored cardstock" for her frames!! Green, orange and blue. Of course we had to buy some of those 50% off sizzix die cuts so our frames would be different!!! So she is all set, GOOFY THEME FOR GOOFYGIRL0207!! Thanks again!! :cool1:

I changed my theme...To magical Disney...or Disney Magic...something along that line. I figure with all the Magic Disney has to offer everyone...that would be a good theme that most everyone could use in some way.

Franne, I was just thinking and I am not sure what I had planned to do is allowed so I will ask before I make all these things and have to redo them. What I had been thinking (but did not say) was one character per person with matching themes. Ex. 4 embellished squares with Minnie and Minnie borders and 4 embellished with Pluto and Pluto borders. So not everybodys would be the same. Is that allowed? Would you prefer everybodys to be the same? I have only ever done a punchie swap before.

It's up to everyone else. The only problem I would see if someone gets a character they can't use or don't like. I think if you stick with the basic characters that would be fine. What do all of you think?

The theme she posted was "Mickey & the Gang" which implied the "Fab 5" to me. (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto & Donald) A combo of the 5 would be more useful than, say, just Minnie. Personally I have more use for Mickey than the others, but any of the five would be okay too.

I look at it this way: Our family has never been to Typhoon Lagoon or to WDW at Christmas, but we were all given a choice of "Everything Else Disney" when setting our themes. I figure that there will be a few things I won't be able to use. (I'll either save them until we go again or use them to barter with another scrapper Mom who's been to WDW. ;))

If Limmer had chosen "Minnie" as her theme, we wouldn't have said anything. You know?

In reply to Limmer's question...on mixing things up or staying with all the same thing. As for me...I don't care...I just think this swap thing sounds fun and like Piratesmate mentioned some of us have never been to WDW durring Christmas or to many of the other places brought up...so I'm also expecting to get things from the swap that I just can't use (right now) and will either save them or trade with one of my scrapbuddies. So what ever we get is good for me. :D

This being my first swap...i'm sort of nervious on what I'm doing. I made my toppers yesterday...and I'm hopeing there good enough. (I like it and would use it myself...but I'm just not sure it's what I was suppose to do.)..Well It's a topper and that was my pick...so I guess it's right??? :smooth:

I'm looking forward to the Cruise swap. Has there been a charactor swap? After Limmer's question on which to do...I started thinking a charactor swap would be fun and something that all disney scrappers could use.

Ok, we have 22 swappers for each Group :) So everyone needs to send me 22 of each item they make.
Please place all of your items that you make in plastic type bags or envelopes for each person. Then put all of them into a large ziplock bag. So if you are participating in both groups, you will send me 22 sets for Group A and 22 sets for group B. When I get everything I will swap them out and send them back to you.
Please remember to include $3.85 for return postage for your goodies to get to you, it can be in the form of a stamp or conceled cash. I think I am going to try using the USPS.com mailing labels so we can get free delivery confirmation (At least I think that's how it works, then we can at least track the packages should some become lost)
If anyone knows that for sure, let me know. I will get the priority mail envelopes from my post office, so no need to send one.
I will send you my address through PM later today.
I think that about does it...if I missed anything, please let me know as this is my first time hosting :)
You girls have all been great!

Hi ladies ,

wanted to welcome some of the new ladies to the swap group. My name is Cyndi and I was the hostess for the last four swaps ( which was a series of swaps for the four parks ).Many of you have asked about the different swaps we have done. I have been swapping here for over two years. You name it we have probably done it. We have done parks, characters, birthday, elements, fibers, chrismas, seasons, etc. As Franne has stated the next swap scheduled is a cruise swap. Usually after a swap is completed someone suggest a new theme and maybe even to host it.Then if there is enough interest a sign up will be posted. I am sure the suggestions everyone has made will come up again in the near future. If you would like to see some examples of the work the ladies do here you can view ( thanks Em ) :

You will not find a better group of ladies to swap with , or better swap items to recieve. I look forward to seeing everyone's work.

Happy swapping, and Franne thanks for hosting.

Love that thing!! (If there is something else I need to add, just let me know, remember I'm new at "swapping"!! I made 22 of each frame and 22 of each journal box.)

Disney Swap 1/05 (http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/pg.asp?cmd=display&layout_id=472605)

Goofygirl0207 has a cheerleading competition tomorrow, so she will probably complete her goofy frames Monday or Tuesday (no school). We got her goofy colored card stock on Friday night so she is all set!

Can't wait for the character swap since there are no Disney cruises in the future for me.

One thing to keep in mind is everyone's view of "great!" is different and one thing that makes these swaps soo great is that everything is soo different from what I usually do that I love it. Some people are full into the multi-layer lots of elements pieces others are not and both are just great :)

So do what you think is great and I'm sure all of us will think its great too :)

I know you're right Em & Franne. It's just one of my many personality quirks/flaws. ;) Part of it is that I'm so enamored of the fun fur/feathers/etc embellishments right now...but those won't "fit" too well on a 1 inch square. ;)

The thing is, if someone else had sent me what I made I would have liked it & been happy. I told you....it's a personality flaw. Poor DD is pretty much the same way & I know it's my fault.

Deb,
the one good thing about these swaps is that we get to see all of the different ideas everyone comes up with. And this also makes for great diversity. I have learned so much from the ladies here and each of us brings something different to the swap. I'm looking forward to seeing things from all of the new people. I agree with Franne and Em. And Jackie man that was fast ! Great job.

quick question on the baggie thing...I just want to make sure I'm understanding this right....If we are doing both group A and B...we will need to place each item in 22 diffrent bags...for one group then 22 other bags for the second group....then all 44 bags into one large bag??? Now...if we are doing both A and B...we can't put the sets together into one bag for each 22 swappers???

BTW...I checked the 2peas site...the frames and boxes look great...Love the punch...it's soooo cute. I think I saw them in the store the other day...or at least something that made me think it was close to that...what ever it was I'm thinking I may have to go back and pick myself up on or two...especaly if were doing the charator swap latter.

Well I'm just about done with my items...but for some reason I was thinking it was 20 items of each...so I have that many done now...I guess I'll have to do the other 2 of each Monday.

You are right about the baggies, when I get them I can just put one baggie in each envelope. So when you get your stuff back at the end, you will have 44 baggies in your envelope, one from each person in the swap :)

I have tried, although not always, to put "to and from" on my baggie. That way I only use the number of baggies as number of participants. Then I put either group A, group B or both in the baggie depending on what group(s) that particular person has participated in. I hope I explained it well enough.

Sometimes if I have extra I will add it to the participants that are not in the group I did. Not necessary but I figure if I have extra I might as well pass it on.

Okay - sorry you guys, but I'm a little confused on this...please help! I have to make 22 of each item for group A - in my case 4 embellished squares, so 88 squares, then put 4 each in a baggie with my name on it, and then 22 of each item in group B - so 2 journal boxes, so 44 journal boxes, then put 2 each in a baggie with my name on them, then send all 44 baggies to Franne? Is that right?

Also - do my things have to be the same? Do all 4 squares have to be identical? I got some slide frames today that I was planning on using for 1 of the 4, is that "legal?"

Thanks...I don't know why I got so overwhelmed...

While we're asking questions, if we participate in both groups do we send the $3.85 cash/stamp for each group or does it all fit in one envelope?

Disneyland_emily
01-20-2005, 09:47 PM
Okay I'll try to spread the knowledge-

1) There are 2 easy ways to do the bagging- One just have 44 baggies of things and send it in and 2) Go through the list and see who is in both groups then bag those togeather then bag the singlegroupers in seperate bags

**Edit to add: Okay I went through the list and there are 19 who are in both groups and 3 for only A and 3 for only B** so bag 19 with both A&B then the rest in single bags

2) The squares dont have to be the same (preferably the same theme though... ;))

3) its just one 3.85- She'll swap them all in the same envelope so ya'll get both A/B or both in the same envelope :)

Anything else? :) -em

Thanks Emily for clearing that up...I have been sick the past few days and haven't gotten to this board much.
Here is the list of participants in BOTH groups:
Michelle Pooh
Mom2Madi
Nicki dahling
ksjayhawks
TinkerKat
Crapcrator
Jennz
ScrapperJill
Limmer
Piratesmate
WDWMom
Twigs
SnowWhite
DisneyFreakJackie

Franne
Disneyland Emily
Spinning

And Participants in A only
WDWPrincess Keli
DianaLyn
My4girls

And Participants in B only
Raven3517
Goofygirl0207
Dreaming of BCV

So to make it easier, for the 19 in both groups just use one baggie and put both elements in. That way you don't need 44 bags, just 25 bags (19 for both and 6 individual) all inside one big bag.
For those of you in one group, then just send 22 bags inside one big bag :)
The $3.85 for postage is a flat rate priority envelope so the weight doesn't matter as long as everything fits inside. The past swaps we've done, there hasn't been a problem with both groups fitting in the envelope.
Hope that clears it all up.
Franne
I am posting this on the other thread too :)
