So I did it! I did it!
I am so tired, Ij ust got home and the last thing I want to do so be awake but, I am so excited I want to share!
I know alot of you will consider doing it next year and I remember last year wanted to read all about it so that I could decide if I wanted to give it a try.

I'll begin with saturday, the trails end dinner. Although, I could not eat there because my family wanted desperatly to go to plant hollywood, I did make the trip to trails end with my 2 year old just to meet my WISH friends.
My hubby took the older kids swimming at another hotel (about 3 pm) and andrew ( the baby ) was left at our hotel with me sleeping. As much as I did not want to wake him and being that I wasnt gonna eat, I really wasnt gonna go BUT, I really really wanted to meet everyone. Now you know how transporting yourself aroung disney can take long, so I headed out from all star movies about 3:30 and got on the bus to MK. During my trip, I meet a nice couple on the bus and pretty much told them of my journey with WISH..... to my suprise, our very own NCREDDING was on that very bud and approached when we readhed MK!
Which was so nice, because now I had someone (besides andrew) to go with. Earlier that day, when I thought about going to TE I was torn, I wanted to bring my family (so I wouldnt have to go alone) but I also wanted to spend time with my buddies from wish, so meeting jane (NC) was perfect. We arrived and saw a huge group most with lime green on somewhere on there body! And everyone was just so nice and excited to be there. I sat with NC and Doreen (wdw doe)
It turns out alot of folks did bring along their families. Anyway, I had to leave to get back in time to mine. So I wasn;t around for pics.
Later that night at planet hollywood, I was so sick, I think it was nerves! I didnt even eat!
I left my family at downtown disney and the baby and I headed back to the hotel. I was able to get to sleep and woke up about 2:30 am. Got dressed and bought a banana and an OJ. When I got to the bus stop, I suprised to see many people there however, none from WISH. At this point, I was really nervous. Alot of poeple there had friends with them and I was alone! lol :charac2:
Also, many of them (you could tell) had done this before or at least another marathon. Once I got to EPCOT. I was really confused as to where to go what to do! It was a nice scene though. It was as if it was night time ( of course it was dark still) but I mean there was a band playing music and it just felt so alive! I headed over past the tents ( to drop off belongings) and just followed the crowd. I just sat and hung out alone, watching the experts stretch etc. and finally was approached by a WISHER!!!!!! :grouphug:
thank god for those lime green scarves!lol.
I believe it was twinsmom. She lead me over to our group small at that time but it was so nice to have people to talk with and now I wasn't going in alone! There I finally met karebear, cdoobee and JUDY! ( I cant remember your screen name!!!!!!!lol) I met one other wisher who was so sick she just couldn;t do it. ( sorry! bad with the names!) karebears family is sooooooo nice her daughter is a trip! In coral N I met a few other wishers but once agian can;t rememeber the names.
We began the race and I knew I had my own pace and/or groove so I separated from the group and said see you at the finish.
I miles went FAST!!!!!! I swear I wasn;t even stressing them. I never saw a sweeper and was happy about that. :jumping4:

Just being there and running throught he parks was such a joy. Once I saw the magic kingdom entrance I kept feeling like it was almost over. the volunteers were wonderful. your name is posted on your bib so they were screaming out my name as if they knew me. I really did feel like a superstar as dumb as that may sound
I didnt need anything I brought with me. Although, I have heard other complain about water food etc. It was sufficent for me. I never really trained and had powerbars, just water. I only stopped once at MK to use the bathroom and when I got out I ran fast to try and catch up with the folks it seemed I was running with. My only complaint I hae to say is some of the bottlenecking.......small road space in certain spots. but that just gave me an excuse to walk! lol. Once I saw the finish line. I ran real fast. I pasted it at about 3 hours. And when I was done it was such a mix of emotions and feelings. What an accomplishment! My body hurt though big time ( just the beginning!!!!!LOL) I was a bit off balance and wobbly. I didnt want to stick around for pics or anything else, I just wanted to get my medal and to get back to the hotel. I ate about 2 sandwiches a bag of chips and a banana and hit the bus. I was pretty much falling alseep on the bus. lol the girl next to me keep asking me is I was alright!

I was greeted by my family and mu husband now has to let me sleep late and giveme breakfast in bed for 4 striaght weekends because that was the deal!
I will definitely do it again, this time with a friend. Or actually my hubby is considering doing the half with me next year. who knows, in 07 I may do the full! (NOT)
all in all, I had a great time, it was a great experience,
I was so glad to have met all the wonderful WISHERS!

NOW about my feet! lol :guilty: :guilty:

all I can say is PAIN PAIN PAIN! not sure if my sneakers were not good or what the dela is with that, but they didnt hurt during the marathon just after. Legs are killing me!
We went to dennys after the marathon cause we were driving home that day and I saw others walking like me, so I didnt feel so bad. but boy what pain! however, it is a nice to explain to people why I am walking this way.
my advice to anyone doing it next year
is this. Do the marthon after your done park hopping but dont leave that day either. It is now tues, as I am writing this ( I began writing this post monday night got tired and am now finishing it lol) so today tuesday and I am still feeling it, I would not be able to park hop today!
Next years marathon is on saturday, my plan is to park hop the week prior, do the marathon and them either leave sunday or monday or go to visit relatives were I can rest a day or two before trekking back home.

anyway I have gone on enough....... I have about 7 loads of laundry to do, bills to pay and all the joys if gettting back home after a ten day adventure. OH! yea, got to change my signature too! lol...............

Love you all thanks for all the support, and
to
JUDY.......how did you do?
DOE........you got one pic of me at trials end........can you post it?

talk toy ou all soon.

Renee, so happy I got to meet you at Trails' End!! I'm glad you came!! I haven't gotten the pics off the digital camera yet, but I'll make sure to PM you when I do - probably tomorrow night. Sorry to make you wait!

Congratulations on such a great finish time! When I finished the clock read 3:24 but I didn't cross the start line until 6:10 AM so my chip time was 3:14.

P.S. Hope to see you back on the journal board once you get caught up with real life & all that laundry!

Your report was great and I have to say that I had the same feelings of joy that you did. I also know exactly what you are saying about your feet. Mine yesterday were very painful. I had one blister to bust while still doing the 1/2 and then a few smaller ones. It was difficult to walk for the soreness yesterday as well. We went to MGM and then to DTD for just a few minutes. DH agreed to take kids this morning on over to MK and I'm going to meet them a little later. While at DTD, I went into Basin and got a great bathbomb (Therapy). I soaked last night and I think that along with stretching more last night and this morning before I got out of bed helped. I'm not as sore this morning in my legs when I get up and my left foot isn't hurting as bad today. My right one is still tender (where the busted blister is at).

I also agree with doing parks before the marathon and then leaving the day after the marathon to go home. I think I would have enjoyed it a bit more. We do still have until Saturday, so I'm hoping by tomorrow, I'll be back up to par.

Thanks again for your post. I have enjoyed reading about everyone's experiences.

DOe, disreguard my other request for my pic ( on the near riot thread) just trying to get it out there to ya, dont want to be a pest! lol. when ever you get around to it is fine........
OK so now I see about this time thing. I may have then finished in less than 3 hours. when I crossed it was just over 3 hours but like you I didnt start at exactly 6....so I may have done better that what I thought. How did you get your time? did they tell you? I heard names being called out at the finish, but not mine......what was that about?
Like I said, I didnt stick around, I just wanted to leave! lol.

tammy..........soaking sounds good, I havent yet done that, I havent ahd a chance!!!!!!!lol

You need to take the time for that, honestly I think it helped a lot. I also didn't hear my name called out and DH said that he didn't think they were calling them all out, which they should have been). I also can't find my results on the web-site for my name or anything. I put a call into WWOS and they gave me the number for the people responsible for the timing. I had to leave a message and I haven't heard back from them.

OK, put the baby down and then go get you a nice soak in. You might not feel it right away, but it will help loosen you up.

what web site did you go to? I don't even have a site lol.....
were there times available for other people and you just couldnt find yours?
also, if you dont mind......... what number have you called?
I am so curious as to my time...........
one because my sneakers have this velcro over the laces and my chip was under this and I was worried that it wouldn't register ..
and two because I just realized that I didnt begin at 6 because I was in coral n so my time may be better that I thought..........

I may have to use my "soakin" in the tub time to try and hunt down my official time lol!!!!!! :earseek:

That's the sight I went to. I was not listed, others were there (I know OhMom and Grammy) because I looked quickly for them. I have to say that I was in tears this morning when I couldn't find mine.

They gave me this number: 1-407-896-1160. I had to leave a message and haven't heard back from them yet.

It looks like they shut down the mats at 3:30:55 - the last finishes were listed at 3:30:54. This was the actual clock time - the chip times were 3:20:59 for the last finishers.

It looks like they turned the mats off 3 hours and 31 minutes after the 6 AM start - NOT allowing for the runners who crossed the start line after 6 AM. I know I was in corral N and I crossed the start line at 6:10 AM.

TammyNC, I do remember passing you close to the end - can't remember exactly when. Do you remember what time the clock said when you crossed the line?

Sounds contrary to what their official papers said that they would do.

DH said the clock was around 3:38 when I came across, when I subtract the 6 minutes that it took me to cross the finish, I was looking at somewhere around 3:32. I'm getting ready to go check someone else's that looks like they weren't too far ahead of me.

Doreen, are you listed on the website?

Tammy, I can not find my name either, but I believe I was after you, so I am no help (I figure I finished in about 3:35--from when I crossed the start line)

Tammy-

I'm there and my cross time was 3:31:06, and another woman with the same last name as me crossed at 3:36, so that was about the same time you crossed! Hopefully you can straighten that out!

Thanks Annie-I've made two phone calls and sent an email as instructed. I know that I finished, but I really would like to see ME under the results as well. Jimmy said he thought the clock was at 3:38. I did get the email about me being at the 10 mile point so I would think that my chip was activated correctly or that wouldn't have been sent.

I'll keep you all posted on what I find out. Like I said, it isn't because I'm concerned about me finishing, but I would like to get my true time so that I can have it engraved on my medal.

Hi Renee,
Luckily I did not get caught up in the near riot. I walked by myself, however, there were a lot of people there and the course was great so I didn't really feel alone. I
did talk with others in passing a few times. Everybody was so friendly.

Because of my scarf, I met MelanieC and was cheered on by the W.I.S.H. Walkers
cheering group on the side. All in all this was a great experience and as I tell friends about it, I feel great that I was able to participate.

I won't be there next year because the 1/2 is on a Saturday and there is no way I can be ready for the race at 3:00am Saturday morning after driving down Friday after school from Atlanta.

I'll be visiting the boards on a regular basis and I wish everybody luck on the 2006 Marathon Weekend.

Yep, it was me. After you all headed for the corrals, I still hung around, hoping against hope it was just a 'nervous stomach'. Around 5:20 I made about visit #9 to the port a potties and then headed over to the starting line. I decided I was there.....I was starting the race! Wanted to at least experience that. I did about a mile and a half and it was very apparent that it wasn't just a nervous stomach, so I pulled over and had security call for the van. They took me back to Epcot (and gave me my 'participants' Mickey medal). When I turned in my chip I was sure I was the first one, but someone else alreay had, (by this time lots of the marathoners had passed the 5 mile mark) and person #3 was in the van. I sat on the bleachers at the marathon finish line for a while then took the monorail over to the TTC. After visiting a REAL bathroom I went over to the race and managed to get a picture of OhMom, AEGrammy, MelanieC and Karebear as they came by. I'm not sure how long I stood there, but somewhere in that window of time were the people who made it into MK and those who got shut out. Then I had another sit down and then headed over to the T-Z tent and saw CDoobie and TigerLily.

I spent the rest of the day in bed! Had to pass on Boma with CDoobie her sister, MelanieC and 24KK9 and her hubby. VERY sad about that. Monday was spent sleeping in and transfering to WL, where I sat in a comfy chair and read for 3 hours while waiting for my sister. Actually was able to eat something Monday night and make the WISHES cruise. All systems were operating within normal parameters on Tuesday, so I was able to enjoy the rest of my vacation (which always was planned as a laid back, non-commando type of visit, fortunately!).
