My daughters (10 & 9) have a Father Daughter Dance at school on the 21st. We have been out shopping for dresses and have found nothing. It is a semi-formal/formal event. The girls act like it's prom :earseek: . Anyway, any suggestions on where to find an inexpensive dress for each of them that they will only wear for about 2 hours? I looked on ebay and I'm worried that I won't get the dresses in time. HELP! :Pinkbounc

Kohls has great sales. Do you have Once Upon a Child near you? They are a second hand shop but very picky.

Good luck!

What size do you girls wear? I have a bunch of things that fit in the category.

Have you checked out the special occasion section of the department stores, ie: Filenes, Macy's, Kohls, etc? I think they now have several Holiday dresses on the Clearance racks right now....?? I just picked up a beautiful velvet top with silvery glitter designs to wear on one of the formal nights on my cruise......$6.90 after clearance plus additional 20% off!!

My wife has often been able to find good semi-formal and formal dresses for our daughters at consignment shops for some real good prices. Since your tag information show you are from a fairly large city area, I think you might be able to try that.

Thanks for all your replies! I have tried the second hand stores but they have nothing right now. I have not tried Kohl's yet. We may be able to get out tomorrow and try a few more places after school. My little one (2) just broke out with hand, foot and mouth disease - go figure - so shopping time will be limited these next couple of days, I guess. The holiday dresses we have found on clearance are too "holiday" if that makes sense, just very Christmas - looking with red and green sparkles, Christmas designs, etc. I was hoping for just red, or just green, or black, but nothing so far. Several have actually been sleeveless :earseek: and I don't expect it to be above freezing.

Oh, and they are size 8/10 and 10/12. Both are fairly tall and very slim.

Thanks so much! I know this isn't even remotely Disney related but I'm desperate!!

I was in Walmart yesterday (Sunday) and they had some beautiful fancy dresses for Easter already out for sale. Didn't look at the prices, but I believe they were under $20. If you bought a spring dress, they would be able to have a couple of wears out of the dresses.

I say go with Ebay... I just bought this dress http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3263&item=8150079440 for my bid price plus shipping, it is ABSOLUTELY STUNNINGLY GORGEOUS (I'd totally recommend it for your father/daughter dance)!!! Shipping was very fast, but you could always email the seller to have her overnight the dresses if you were worried about them arriving... as it was, she did priority mail them (as she should have at that price!)
