Hi everybody,
Thanks for all the well wishes. I had a fun day yesterday. You know when your boss doesn't even have the balls to fire you in person but has to email you :rotfl: you just have to laugh. pirate: Aargh he be a sad sample of manliness.Aargh pirate:
Yeah I hated the place. I am not an office person or maybe just not that office. I have to be somewhere fun. I talked to my friend who I took the job to cover for and told her I was sorry that I tried but just couldn't take it. I had walked out the day before because the boss had told me he was going to cut me to 20 hours a week. That wouldn't even cover daycare. So I figure thats why I got the can. Besides, Paul goes for his job interview next week and if he gets the job we will have to be putting alot of time into getting the house ready to sell and packing to move, so like my mom always says "things happen for a reason and its usually a good one." God takes care of me.
Went to the Padres game last night. We haven't been to the new ballpark yet and wow what a cool place. My cousin is in town from Texas (hey Lynda) and he loves ball games. Dad, Paul, my cousin Roland and I went. I laughed so much my face hurt. My cousin is a riot and we get together we always have fun.
Well off th slay the clothes monster :crazy2: Have a great day everybody.

Hey everyone! I am back from London and soooo tired even though I slept last night.
I wish we had more time there, so much we didn't get to see! Loved the Frida Kahlo exhibit and Stonehenge was AWESOME and being able to go in and touch the stones was the most intense thing.
Went to a midnight Harry Potter party and was 2nd in line at the bookstore we went to (SIL was first) and then I finished the book before she did, even though she read the last four chapters before reading the whole book.
Dee, I cried when I got to the end of HBP. Now I cannot wait for number 7 and 6 only just came out!
Denise, sorry about the job. Good luck to Paul.
I need to go back to sleep. I am only up because my blood sugar was low. Ugh, why didn't I take today off too?

Sue
That's not nosey!! We are going on Royal Caribbean's Explorer of the Seas....Cozumel (if there's anything left to see after Emily), Belize, Costa Maya and Grand Cayman.
The room is really (really!) small, but at least we have a balcony....that's all I cared about. The ship seems pretty big though. I saw a picture of it next to the Wonder...wow... The worst part is flying all the way to Miami....confinement issues, remember?
jEn.....NOT bragging! I would be jumping for joy if I were headed back to Bonaire. I think Jay and I have pretty much decided that's where we will purchase a home or condo. But I did see some great prices for Fiji.......land there is cheap cheap cheap...and can only go UP!

i have that one too. I bought it for myself in '02. But the results of those pictures were like guesswork. You never knew how many good shots you had until the film was developed. I can't wait to use the digital. We got a 1GB memory card for it, and at the lowest resolution, you can take 8879 pictures. I think at the highest it is still in the 1000ands. Fun huh? only having to take one camera for the whole trip. hehe.

Is there a smilie that's blowing raspberries??? :p Close enough.
I'm trying to decide if I want to take it on the Royal Caribbean cruise. That's a lot of junk to haul around .....not so bad if you go to one place and stay there.
Where was everyone today? I did 6 loads of laundry. And a whole bunch of other stuff.
Feels good to get caught up again. Just in time to take off again. I'm starting to sound like Sue. She's never home!! I LOVE IT!

I am still trying to find myslef after getting back from London. It was a great trip. Did a car tour and saw many of the sites. Was not impressed by Picadilly Circus or Trafalgar Square. We took pics of us walking across Abbey Road crossing though. Stonehenge was the most awesome part of the whole trip as far as I am concerned. Just standing in the middle of that circle made me feel so small and insignificant. Wow!
Since I got back I have been doing laundry, working, doing laundry, working...
DH did nothing around the house while I was gone. He had several kids stay over one night and left lots of wet towels and stuff in the bathroom (I think the kids went in the hot tub). Trash cans were overflowing, dirty dishes in the sink. I could go on .... :confused3
I just saw some things on the boards about trip insurance. I always get it on the cruises but didn't realize you have to purchase it within 21 days of making your first payment to have pre-existing conditions covered. I am a diabetic and would want to make sure that was covered but I can't see paying that much for something I haven't paid more than a deposit for at this point! Has anybody already bought trip insurance for the 2006 cruise?
Well, work is calling ...
Kat

07-21-2005, 08:39 AM
we have it . we always get it. Since we come from snowy PA, we get it to make sure that if we get stuck, we won't lose out. And since in '06 i will be a freshman in college, most likely somewhere in CA, its a plus because the family might be flying in from different locations. its always a good thing to have.

07-21-2005, 10:22 AM
My friend is a travel agent, and she has convinced me that having the insurance is a must. I always thought that I didn't need it, because I thought that if I had a cruise booked, I would go...come heck or highwater. Well, I had to cancel our Aug 6 cruise.....kids have to go back to school earlier this year. So that proved me wrong. (again)
You just never know. Even here in Arizona, where we don't have to worry about the snow....we do live on the "wrong" side of a creek that floods, and we have been stuck more than once. Good idea to have the insurance.
And don't even start me on the subject of what happens here when I'm out of town! I have been slooooowly trying to bite my tongue, and make myself believe that the vacation was worth the mess I come home to!

I wasn't questioning getting the insurance. I always do for cruises. My concern was the 21 days after making your first payment due to pre-existing conditions. I am a diabetic so of course I have one and that would mean I have until Sunday to purchase or risk not having it cover anything related to that and that sounds kind of crazy to me. I was planning on getting the insurance, but not until much closer to next December!

Don't they just add it in to the payments you will be making? So, you wouldn't have to pay for it all right now? Did you check to see if your own health insurance would cover you if you were out of the country?
I used to work for my Dad, who sold Life & Health insurance...so I'm probably way too "insurance-minded" but I say "Get it"!

Hey, Denise....you can quit calling me a brat! I am still taking the kids to WDW, but Jay & I are backing out of the free cruise. Lots of reasons. Kids first week of school, not enough time for me to get everything I would need to get done and not go crazy, I'm not very happy with the dis-organized way they are handling the whole thing....
And...we were invited on a Princess cruise for the end of October that will be much nicer, and a lot more suitable to our schedule...not to mention nicer weather.
So, I guess I'll change my signature again.

I definitely want the insurance, but at this point (being so far out still) I really hesitate to get it this early! I am in a quandry about when to buy it, not if. Oh well. I need to decide in the next day or so, so maybe I will call Disney and see if they do put it in w/the total owed. Right now we aren't signed up for the transfers either because who knows what we are doing in terms of getting there. We may decide to fly in a night early and not put ourselves through the stress of getting there the same day, I just don't know yet. What a mess.
I am so glad we were in London last week at this time rather than now!
I am glad it is Friday, just wish it were later in the day. I have to go home and make dinner for two more than my usual (picking up my niece and my Mom since SIL is working today) and I am still not sure what I am making! I am still so disorganized after getting back from London, this really isn't like me at all. :rolleyes2
Oh well....

Wow....it has been too quiet here!
Hi Kat! Good idea on calling DCL...they are the ones who can help you the best. I'd have to say though, that I'm 99.99999% sure that the insurance just gets added to the price.
We don't do the transportation either. We did do it the first time we cruised, but now we know that we like to set our own schedule, so we use FLTours. Their cost comes out almost the same as DCL's....maybe a few $$ higher, but it's worth it, because you don't have to wait for a bus to load up....and they'll stop at the store and let you buy things to take on the ship....like the Pepsi I can't live without!

Why do weekends always feel so crowded and rushed? I felt awful yesterday and accomplished nothing to speak of and now I have too much to do today. Ugh.
I saw a beautiful dress in a catalog today. I own nothing really fancy and would love to find something for the cruise next year. DH has said to go ahead and rent a tux so I'd love to get at least one fancy dress to complement that. But I also hope to lose a little weight before then so I don't dare order the dress this far out. Ugh. I love the fact that we are going on this cruise next year but I hate that it is so far away!
I tried to call about the trip insurance this morning but they aren't open yet. I will try back later....

Kat....sounds like we had the same kind of day yesterday. I don't feel as though I got anything done. Jared and I cleaned the big pool filter, and being out there in the heat made me sick, so it ruined the rest of my day. Bummer.
And I know what you mean about the dresses! I want so badly to go to the mall and find a new one for the October cruise...but I don't dare. I really hope I can at least lose 10 lbs before then.
Sue....after cruising with DCL, I'm going to have to try to not set my expectations too high. I know there are a lot of differences, like the size of the rooms and the dining...but hopefully that won't "cloud" my opinion. I like to think that I'm fairly easy to please. I'm already expecting it to be wonderful no matter what...so we'll see. It would have been nice to also have gone on the Royal Caribbean cruise for comparison....but it was just too much to try to do in one summer.

Hi guys,
Ok being the Californian and a Southern Californian to boot...I found that hilarious! You guys have no idea how true that is. Almost got t boned by a woman who blew right through a red light the other day. She was of course on the phone. And yes I wanted to chase her down and shoot her.(joking ;) ) I truely believe that is the real intention for paint guns, so you can tag the obnoxious drivers for all to see.
Alright Stacey you aren't a brat. :love2: can you send that cruise my way?hmmm?
went to the beach with the family yesterday....genious here lathered the girls in sunscreen but forgot herself. Oh yeah 98 degrees and a sunburn -yipee. Amazing how scratchy sheets are. I'm such a dork.
GOOD JOB DEE! :flower3: this buds for you.

It is HOT HOT HOT here! Ugh. Heat warnings today and parts of town have lost power. At least we have the generator if our power goes out so we won't be without AC. We have some elderly friends staying with us since they don't have AC. I hope those storms that are supposed to come through and cool us off tomorrow really do happen. I can't take this heat for too long.
I think school starts here on August 23 this year. I can't believe DS will be in 3rd grade!
DH already told her about this cruise next year. She is pretty excited. I think I am more excited than either of them, though. DH doesn't want to hear any more about it for awhile, what a spoilsport! Glad I have you guys or I'd go nuts not being able to talk about it to anyone.

well whenever i can get off from work i will let you and garry know and we can plan something out. I will try for sometime before the park closes. I think it closes the 18th. At least thats what the website is showing. So i will have to try and take a weekend or at least a day off and let you know.

Judy, DH had Lasik several years ago and loves it.
Jen, I hadn't seen your site before. Pretty neat. I love the SOS skin. BTW, did you know that one of the Links on your cruise site isn't working? The one for 19-3 says Unknown page when I bring it up.
My London pics are supposed to be ready today. My provider used to have a way for me to create a page so I am going to play with that this weekend. If I can I will post some of the pics and let you guys know how to find them.
Well, off to get DD ready for day camp. I am definitely going to send water with her today!

I wish the cruise was now, that's for sure! Still over 500 days! I am already thinking of decorations, etc. I fell asleep last night thinking about ways to put lights up and to surprise dd who still believes in Santa. She wants to know how he will find us!
How old is the ds, gaRry?
I say we just get a stateroom for the youngsters and lock them all in there! DD will be 10 by the time we go so we will likely let her check herself in and out of the kids' club by then. She did get to leave dinner and go back to the room by herself last month so I think that will be ok in another year and a half!
I think this will be a lot of fun. I haven't known anybody on the last three cruises so we pretty much kept to ourselves. Hopefully we can get a table with someone from the board so we can actually have conversations with people who are there rather than no one else at our table, or people who don't seem to want to socialize with their tablemates! And hopefully by then I will be able to come up with a neat door sign for us. Last time we just had our little Ariel magnet that DD used to find the room.
They say it is supposed to cool down here after the storms come through (though I am not going to hold my breath). It was 78 when I came in to work this morning and the forecast says tomorrow is only supposed to be 75! I will believe it when I see it, but it would be nice!

Ugh, it is still hotter than he** here! When are those storms going to cool it off?
gaRry, I am between Indy and Fort Wayne. Where in Michigan are you?
We are doing late seating on the holiday cruise (after the screaming baby with the single Mom who ended up alone at her large table by the last night....I wonder why.... we have decided to try the late seating. Never done that in 3 cruises so should be interesting. As we get closer we will have to coordinate and see about getting folks together, eh? There are three of us, though DD will likely eat earlier with the kids so I doubt we will see much of her at dinner times (not necessarily a bad thing).
Boone's Farm?! Is that really wine?
We have an outside cabin, but only a window (deck 6). I am going to try to get it moved to the other side of the ship, though. We were on the starboard side and I loved that we backed into CC so we could see it from our verandah last month. I'd rather see the island than off into nothingness on Christmas morning, even if we don't have the verandah this time. We would rather spend the $$ on excursions :sunny:
I plan on getting one of those garlands that looks like pine with the lights strung in it to hand in our room and then I will bring stockings that I will hang on those 3M hooks. "Santa" and I can put some small gifts in them overnight while dd is sleeping. I don't see any point in bringing lots of gifts, but a couple of small things for each person should be good. I would like to find a small tree or tree-like arrangement that we can have delivered but I don't want to haul a lot with me.
I bet my dh would love to spend time with your ds, gaRry. Sometimes he feels outnumbered with me and dd and then his sister, our niece and my mom across the street!
Well, gotta get back to work. Hopefully the rains will be here by the time I leave at 4:30. Gotta go get those London pics from Wal-Mart before picking dd up from daycamp.

Kat--I was reading your past cruises. You went on one June of 04? We were on the June 19th, 2004 cruise. Were you on that one? As far as decorations, I ordered a tree from Shirley and it was in our room when we arrived. I had the box to repack it in when we left. We drove home that time. Don't know how we'll do it this time since we plan on flying. Also brought some garland and window clings. I didn't bring any lights since the tree had them. Maybe next time I will. It's never tooo early to start planning!!!
GaRry--My DS turnes 16 next month also (Aug 30th). This driving makes me soooo nervous. We signed him up for a defensive driving class this weekend.

A turkey was chatting with a bull. "I would love to get to the top of that tree", sighed the turkey, "but I haven't the energy". "Well, why don't you nibble on some of my droppings", replied the bull. "They're packed with nutrients". The turkey pecked on a lump of dung and found it actually gave him enough strength to reach the first branch of the tree. The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch. Finally, after the fourth night, he was proudly perched at the top of the tree. He was promptly spotted by the farmer, who shot the turkey out of the tree.
Moral Of The Story:
Bull_____ might get you the top, but it won't keep you there.

I can tell this should be a fun cruise if I get to hang out with all you wild 'n' crazy people!
We can do fluff. But don't they frown on that here after a while?
Am I the only one who cannot stand that it is still like 505 days until our cruise???!!??
I am way too excited about this trip. Now if I could just figure out a way to make it cost less. I have been reading the posts about switching reservations to TAs and such but we got such a good savings because we booked during our cruise last month (about $800 over what they list it on the DCL site) PLUS the $200 onboard credit. I find ones that are about $200 lower but with our credit that works out even. And I like that because it is through Disney I can book our excursions online when we get within 90 days (and that is still over a year away  ). Sorry, just a little concerned about finances at the moment...oh well, no big deal.
At least the weather is wonderful here now that the heatwave has broken. And my dad is coming into town a week from today to spend a couple days with us and visit with his granddaughter.
Not muich going on this weekend, though. Maybe dh will finally get the lawn mowed. It looks rather shaggy.

Kat, they do frown on "fluffy" but I think on the "meets" board they figure there is a lot fluffy in getting to know each other and let it slide. Sooooo, fluff away. It has been a very lovely day here too! We took DH's "new" boat out to the reservoir and checked it out. That was fun but my head really hurts. The fumes are bad in the back and too much time in the sun. Oh well, it sure was fun and DD and the niece loved it!

Hi Sue...not much going on here either. Are you visiting gaRry?
IT really cooled off around here. Only going to be in the 70's and cloudy. Between 100 degrees in VA for 10 days and coming home to almost as hot and humid Tuesday, this is a nice break. Especially since I have to cook and freeze a few things for camping this week. No AC in my downstairs at all, just fans.
Congrats on the "new" boat, Kat. Do you water ski? I tried a few years ago ony friend's boat and I couldn't get myself up, in fact, I think I hurt myself  . I'll stick with tubing.

07-31-2005, 08:01 AM
This is how it manifests.....
I decide to water my garden. As I turn the hose on in the driveway, I notice that my car needs washing. As I start toward the garage, I notice there is mail on the porch table that I brought up from the mailbox earlier. I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car. I lay my keys down on the table, and notice that the garbage can is full. So, I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the garbage first. But then I think, since I am going to be near the mailbox when I take out the garbage anyway, I may as well pay the bills first. I take my checkbook off the table and see that there is only one check left. My extra checks are in my desk in the study so, I go inside the house and find the can of Coke I had been drinking. I am going to look for my checks but first I need to push the can of Coke aside so I don't accidently knock it over. I see that the Coke is getting warm, and decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold. As I head toward the kitchen with the Coke, a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye - they need to be watered. I set the Coke on the counter, and discover my reading glasses that I had been searching for all morning. I decide I better put them back in my desk, but first I am going to water the flowers. I set the glasses back on the counter, start to fill the container and suddenly spot the TV Remote. Someone left it on the kitchen table. I realize that tonite when I go to watch TV, I will be looking for the remote, but won't remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the Den where it belongs, but first I'll water the flowers. I put some water in the flowers and quite a bit spills on the floor. So, I set the remote back on the table and get some towels and wipe up the spill. Then I head sown the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do.
At the end of the day:
the car isn't washed
the bills are not paid
there is a warm can of Coke sitting on the counter
the flowers don't have enough water
there is still only one check in the checkbbok
I can't find the remote
I can't find my glasses
and I don't remember what I did with the car keys.
Then, I try to figure out why nothing got done today and am really baffled because I know I was busy all day and am really tired. I realize this is a serious problem and am going to try to get some help for it, but first, let me check my email.
Don't laugh.....if this isn't you yet, your day is coming.

Mary Ann, that sounds like me most days!
The boat is not big enough for water skiing, but we are planning on getting stuff to go tubing with it next summer.
Today is laundry, grocery shopping, general picking up around the house, etc for me. DH has papers to grade as grades are due tomorrow. Plus he was going to mow yesterday and didn't. Wonder if it will get done today? And he says he is going to fix what he tore apart on the boat yesterday (seats) AND take dd fishing, Ugh.
My head suddenly hurts.....

In the year 2005, the Lord came unto to Noah, who was now living in the United States, and said, "Once again, the world has become wicked and overpopulated and I see the end of all flesh before me. Build another Ark and save two of every living thing along with a few good humans".
He gave Noah the blueprints, saying, "You have six months to build the Ark before I unleash unending rain for 40 days and 40 nights".
Six months later, the Lord looked down and saw Noah weeping in his yard....but no Ark.
"Noah", he roared, "I am about to sart the rain! Where is the Ark?"
"Forgive me, Lord", begged Noah. "But things have changed. I needed a building permit. I've been arguing with the building inspector about the need for a sprinkler system. My nieghbors complained I am violated zoning laws by building an Ark in my yard and exceeding height limitations. We had to go to the Development Appeal Board for a decision. Then the Department of Transportation demanded a bond be posted for the future costs of moving power lines and other overhead obstructions to clear the passage for the Ark's move to the sea. I argued that the sea would be coming to us, but they would hear nothing of it.
Getting the wood was another problem. There's a ban on cutting local trees to save the Spotted Owl. I tryed to explain to the enviromentalists that I need the wood to save the owl, but no go.
When I started to gather the animals, the animal rights groups sued me. They insisted I was confining animals against thier will. As well, they said the accomodations were too restrictive and was cruel an inhumane.
The EPA ruled ruled that I couldn't build the Ark until they conducted an enviromental impact study on your proposed flood.
I'm still trying to resolve a complaint with the Human Rights Commission on how many minorities I am supposed to hire for my building crew. Also, Trade Unions say I can't use my sons. They insist I only hire Union Workers with Ark building experience. To make matters worse, the IRS is seizing all my assets claiming I am trying to flee the country with endangered species.
So, forgive me Lord, but it will take me at least ten years to finish this Ark.
Suddenly, the skies cleared, the sun began to shine and a rainbow stretched across the sky. Noah looked up in wonder and asked, "you mean you're not going to destroy the world?"
"No", said the Lord, "The goverment beat me to it."
Have a Great Day, Everyone!!

LOL Mary An :rotfl2: That was FUNNY!
I tore my leg up yesterday while moving wood. We had a wood pile about 10 feet long and 3 or so feet high at my SILs across the street following our ice storms in January. We were loading it into DH's trailer to move around to the back of the house and I caught my calf on one of the tail lights. Not very deep but very long and throbbing right now. I am such a klutz! :sad2:
But I have a short week this week as my Dad is coming into town for the weekend. I have Friday off to get my house cleaned up (we have two cats and he is very allergic).
I am jealous of you guys that are meeting at Hershey Park. I haven't even gotten to go to any amusement parks this year :( . DH and SIL are taking the kids to King's Island on the 19th and I don't get to go 'cause I gotta work that day. Oh well...

I would love to go to Hershey but it ain't happening, sorry. DH and I are off to NYC to see SPAMALOT over Labor Day and then we are going back with the whole herd (myself, DH, DD, SIL, niece, Mom and SIL's BF) to visit my brother for Thanksgiving. No other trips this year, that's for sure! We went to Georgia to see my Dad over Memorial Day, the 3 day Disney Cruise at the end of June, and then I went to London with Mom and SIL a couple of weeks ago. Whew, I am tired just thinking about all that travelling! And I doubt I will ever get DH back to WDW. He says been there, done that, don't need to do it again.
We have talked about doing a long weekend at Cedar Point but that will likely have to wait until next year. At this point I can just hear my DH....he doesn't even want to hear about the 10 day cruise at this point since it is still so far off (what are we down to, 501 days or something?) so I suspect he'd think I was off my rocker for being on this board (of course, he may be right but I don't want to give him any more ammo on that one :rotfl: ). I will break him in slowly on the fact that I will "know" a bunch of people on the cruise as we get closer. Definitely gotta plan some things to do together over those 10 days.
I gotta get my whole house cleaned by Friday afternoon with my Dad coming. He is severely allergic to cats and we have two so I have to make sure as much of the hair as possible is gone and I have to clean all the crap out of the spare room so he has somewhere to sleep. Thank god I am taking Friday off to do that! I have to get something to get DDs room organized too. She has stuff everywhere and nowhere to put it (maybe I'll just clean out her toys or something). That needs to get done this week too. And I have to clean out the cat box but we are out of litter. There just isn't enough time in the day sometimes, is there???

Yes, sad but true...I had to come home! I told Vicki yesterday that it wouldn't be so bad as long as I didn't have to work today. I had to work. But I did get off early.
Our flight leaving Dallas was delayed an hour, then we spent another hour on the runway, waiting to take off. All-in-all, that was four hours on the plane. Next time, I'll go for the four hour non-stop. At least I would have gotten home earlier.
Mortgages are all different, and you can generally make sure you don't have an early payoff penalty. That's the second thing I look for on any loan.....the first being the interest rate.

My poor dad finally got in around 10:15 last night, then waiting for luggage and the 90 minute ride home. It was about midnight when we hit the house. He is STILL sleeping. Oh well.
gaRry, I take it Meatball is one of your horses? DD would be thrilled, I am sure. She has only ridden the ponies at the zoo and is sooooo excited about going to the camp next year and taking horse riding.
Right now I am trying to figure out how we will pay for everything next year! We put our deposit on the 10 day and that is sitting on my credit card right now. We still have the rest to pay off and will do that slowly over the coming year I think. But DH also wants to go to Hawaii next year (that was planned before the 10 day even came up) so I am looking into reasonable ways to do that. Right now airfare alone is over $600 per person! OUCH! He wants to go during dd's spring break at the end of March so I am looking into different ways to do this.
Does anyone have photos of the split baths? We have never seen them. I understand they have much more storage space than the single bath we are used to. I am trying to decide if an over door shoe holder would even be necessary.
Denise...good luck on the job interview!
Oh...does anyone have the shore excursion book from the 2004 Christmas 10-day? I saw on the DCL site about the volcano on St. Lucia and am trying to determine if there is a shore excursion that goes there. Thanks!

Morning campers!
Got the job. Start today. weeee. I am excited. It is a really laid back place and all the people are friendly. It is only 2 miles from my house so I need to get in shape to ride my bike up the hill. Coming home will be a piece of cake.
Nice picture Stacey.
Hey jen glad you had fun at the concert. Clint Black was in town but alas the tickets were $80 each. And what is with ticketmaster charging a delivery fee when you print the darn things off your computer? Ok I'm off my soap box and off to work.
Have a great day all. Stay cool and don't work too hard.

Congrats Denise!! Way to go!!
Stace, love the picture!
Man, I have got to find a way to get in shape before our cruise! I wish I could lose 20 pounds but I don't see that happening any time soon! I have cut way down on what I eat but haven't really lost anything yet. I need to get the treadmill out but until it cools down that ain't happenin' either (it is on the non-air conditioned sun porch and dh won't let me put it back in the family room). Well, I still have over a year so I have time yet.
Got my Dad off on the rest of his trip (he is in Canada now at Stratford taking in the shows), thank goodness!
DD's birthday is in less than two weeks! Still haven't figured out if we are going to do anything special for her this year. SIL suggested going to the Indianapolis Zoo as they have a new dolphin exhibit and show and dd loves dolphins. If it isn't too hot that day we just might do that.
Well, back to work and time for lunch soon....

Yeah, Stace, I think we were all working. I posted my message from work.
Something is wrong with the smilies I think. Both at home and at work some show up only as squares. The one in your message showed up as text :( How sad.
Hey, did anyone order the little decorative "tree" for their staterooms on the last 10day? I saw a picture of one and was wondering how much they cost so I can decide if that would be the way to go for us next year. I really want to decorate the room for Christmas but don't want to haul a lot of stuff with me, nor do I want to spend a fortune either.
My dd is getting a new computer for her birthday next week so I will have to check out the kids' thread and see if she'd be into it. I know she'd love to have some kids she already "knows" when we go on this cruise.
Well, time to think about getting ready for another day at the office.

08-11-2005, 10:46 AM
We ordered a tree from Shirley at The Perfect Gift. She delivered them all to the staterooms. They had little decorations on them, and I think a string of small lights. They had a Spode vase that they set in, so they were more $$ than the ship's arrangements, but it was sooooo nice to have a tree. We also had the ship's Christmas arrangement with roses and greens. But they spray-painted the white roses a green sparkle color, which not only killed them, but made them ugly. You can find references to Shirley on the Main cruise page.
Guess I should head for work......have a great day!!
KatHuss
08-11-2005, 03:53 PM
Hmm, not particularly fond of Spode so I don't know that I'd want to pay extra for a vase I didn't like. I guess I'll just have to wait until we are closer and see what Shirley has and what DCL has. Maybe I can just find one of those fold out honeycomb type of trees :rotfl: ! (OK, maybe not but at least it wouldn't take up much space in the luggage!)
Man, we just had terrific storms roll through here a bit ago. It was almost as dark as night time out there! Glad it is over before I have to head home is all I have to say...
Stace, I think you and I are the only ones on here... has everyone else gone on vacation at the same time????

I think the fold out tree is a great idea. I may do that this year. I just can't stand the thought of hauling a whole suitcase full of decorations again. Maybe I'll decorate the house since we don't leave until Christmas Eve...and do our gifts before that, too. Then I won't have to do it on the cruise. This Christmas is the quick Norwegian cruise. Not much of a ship, but some good ports.....Belize, Roatan, Cozumel and Cancun.

Hi All. Just checking in.
Sorry been such a stranger lately. My FIL passed away last week and things got a little crazy. I was camping and Jim was in New Jersey working when he got the call that he had taken a turn for the worse. He made back to Boston 10 minutes before he passed. Jim's OK but it's weird for him because he lost his Mom 4 years ago and now he says, "I have no parents", and he's having a hard time with that. Things are finally settling down around here.
Got you PM, Kat...sent one back :)

Thank you all for the condolences. FIL passed due to complications from diabeties. Hubby came home Thursday in awful pain so we went up to the Dr's and looks like he has kidney stones and the blood work that came back yesterday shows he has diabeties. This week just keeps getting better. If he doesn't start letting his family take better care of him I'm gonna kick his (you know)!!
Bye, jEn...Have a great time. I know you have been looking foward to this.
A while back you guys were talking about Christmas Trees/decorations for your cabin. I have been on two X-Mas Cruises and both times I brought an old suitcase filled with decorations and went to town decorating my cabin. I think this year, since we have to pack up Christmas Day, I am just going to bring a small tree and skirt and maybe a string of lights. I found a "Wood Light Up Tree" (#IN-95/1241)in a catalog called Terry's Village for $12.95 that I think will do the trick. It's gonna kill me not to decorate the place but I just don't think it is practical giving the day we have to pack up. I think Disney really picked lousy cruise dates on this one.
It's gonna be hot, hot, hot today. I supposed to start cleaning the basement today but I think I'm gonna blow it off and veg out in the pool.

MaryAnn, I have been diabetic for 34 years so I understand about complications, etc. I just went this morning for my quarterly bloodwork. Ugh. I hope you DH adjusts to being diabetic. My SIL is a type II diabetic and she does ok with her pills and watching what she eats. I have been insulin dependent the whole time and am on a pump now, which I love. The folks at DCL are pretty good about dealing with diabetics. The last two cruises they have put sharps containers in the stateroom for me and tell you hubby not to worry, they have great sugar free desserts on DCL too.
Looks like the smilies are back. :cool1:
DD wants to see "March of the Penguins" so we may go see that this afternoon as a bribe for her good behavior while I do some shopping (she HATES to shop). DH is at work today so it will be just us girls. Maybe even a trip to the Disney Store! :cheer2:

An old lady sits on her front porch, rocking away the last days of her long life, when all of a sudden, a Fairy Godmother appears and informs her she will be granted three wishes.
"Well, now", says the old woman, "I guess I would like to be really rich".
****POOF***** Her rocking chair turns to solid gold.
"And gee, I wouldn't mind being a young, beautiful princess"
****POOF**** She turn into a beautiful young woman.
"And, your third wish?", asks the Fairy Godmother. Just then, the old woman's cat wanders across the porch in front of them. "Ooh,- can you change him into a handsome prince?", she asks.
****POOF****
There before her stands a young man more handsome than anyone can possibly imagine. She stares at him, smitten. With a smile, that makes her knes weak, he saunters across the porch and whispers in her ear, "bet you're sorry you had me neutered. :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

We have to go to the Dr's again Monday or Tuesday. We'll get the more info then. I know it is to be taken seriously, but other than that, I don't know much about it. I spoke briefly with the Dr Friday and hubby needs to loose some serious weight and suggested gastric bypass. To this point Jim has been totally against it but maybe this will make him more open.
We went to see "Penguins" a few weeks ago. It is truly one of the most beautiful films I have ever seen. Be sure to stay for the credits after the movie is over. UNBELEIVABLE!!!

Hi everybody,
Mary Ann I'm sorry to hear about Jim. Dad has diabetes. He has it under control. He too had to lose alot of weight, but hey he's 83 and still has alot of spunk.
For Christmas decor we took a small wreath of real pine and had that in our cabin. I also found pretty window clings to put up on the mirrors.(cat 10 no windows). Will put them on the window this time though. :cool1: I used the pine to help decorate the gifts for our crew members. They enjoyed smelling the fir, considering most of them were from places where fir grows and it reminded them of home. I think I will take lights this time though as well.
LOVE the job. The people are so cool. They can't believe I've been there only a week as I have picked up so much. And they don't have a problem with me leaving for Th, Fri, Mon, Tues, and Weds.
Well off to slay the clothes monster. Paul got the girls out of the house for a while. Much easier to get things done without the family here. Have a great day all.

Mary Ann, hopefully the doctor will have some good info for you and hubby. Does he weigh enough that they would consider gastric bypass? That is a very risky surgery. My SIL has a friend who just went through the stomach stapling and has lost LOTS of weight. He started at 640 and is down to 360! He still has about 150 to go but is doing great. He had diabetes but is now completely off the medication for it. Amazing what that loss did apparently.
I am definitely planning on window clings. We have a cat 8 so will have a large window as well as mirrors. I am also wanting to get some of the garland with lights in it to hang around the room. Nothing crazy that will take up lots of room, but enough to make it feel like the holidays!
I am slaying the laundry monster today too. It is so gray outside and it keeps spitting everytime I go out. We have to get to Menards today to get shelves for DD's closet and Mom wants to get birthday gift for my DD so we will have to face that soon.

We were on page 2 again...where is everyone?
I didn't finish my laundry yesterday, I feel so guilty now. I ran to the store and got a shelf for my DD's closet (and it is still in the backseat, DH didn't help get it out like he said it would and it is heavy for me to get out). Then I had dinner to make and cleanup. Then we ran to Wal-Mart because DD decided she wanted to spend her allowance and get a scooter (like the Razor ones) since her friend has one. Ugh. And I have Mom again tonight so I don't know how much I will get done. I REALLY want to get those shelves up but also need to figure out what to do about that closet. The sliding doors don't work well and DD wants a curtain. I am thinking about a bead curtain but need to run to the mall to find one and that won't happen soon unless I do it at lunch. Oh well, a Mommy's work is never done, eh?

Don't feel bad, Kat. I didn't do my laundry either, so I'm doing it today. And supposedly working from home.
We took Jordan's sliding doors off her closet also, and got beads. We got the beads at the mall at Spencer Gifts.....but she didn't leave them on very long. She didn't like that she had to hold them out of the way to get something out of the closet. Now she has no doors on there at all! Oh well.......
KatHuss
08-15-2005, 02:32 PM
Stace, I was thinking about Spencer too! Sam asked if she could have a curtain but I'd rather have the beads than a regular curtain. Actually, I'd rather have the bifold doors than what she has but they won't fit as her bedroom door is too close to the closet. I really don't want this big, gaping hole there so I am just not sure what to do at this point. I guess I will ask her.
Did you see my post about an IM you sent me back in January regarding the room we had on our June cruise (the cat 3)? Small world...
I wish I could work from home. I have the ability but they don't let us do that much unless we have sick kids or something.
I found some great scotch tape with Disney characters on it at Menards yesterday. I got Mickey but they also had princesses and Pooh. No Tinkerbell, though. I got Energizer batteries yesterday, though, that had a Disney pintrading type pin celebrating 50 years of Disneyland. That was cool.
I keep seeing things at the store I think would be neat for the cruise and then have tell myself it is still well over a year away so it is silly to buy things now! DH thinks I am off my rocker. He doesn't even want me to mention it as it is so far off.
Well, back to work...

Hey, Kat....which Cat 3 were you in? I don't remember yesterday, let alone January! Now my search is on for pictures (good ones) or a layout, of one of the mid-ship Cat 3's.
I thought the beads were really cute, and we had them at different lengths...longer on the ends, shorter in the middle. Very creative for me, I thought.

I saw all the cruises you have coming up. I am SOOOOOO jealous. I wish I had that much vacation time, never mind the money to take that many cruises! Oh well...I have the one next year to look forward to.

We loved the verandah on 8602....but my son had to sleep on the floor....he lived.
One of the cruises is free....and one is being paid for by our business....the others are far enough away to make payments on. So it really isn't as bad as it looks! Being self-employed helps with vacations. I just pay for it when I get back and have to catch up!

The verandah was beautiful and I loved getting up the morning of Castaway Cay and seeing the island and the beach from there but it rained the day we left and the darn thing never really dried off. Mom had the sofa bed so we shared the main bed with Sam. Not the best way to do it but she would NOT sleep on the floor.
I wouldn't mind having a verandah again but we just have a window for the 10 day. I will put the money towards excursions instead!
What do you do for a living, Stace? If you don't mind my asking, that is. I do customer support for our software company. We do accounts receivables software and I specialize in a very specific portion of it and deal with about 20 clients. I enjoy it though there are days I'd definitely rather be working from home.

Of course I don't mind. Jay and I own an ornamental iron & welding business. I do the books, and he does the hard work. We do everything that you could think of that would be made of steel, copper, aluminum...... fireplace screens, spiral staircases, gates, railings, tables, pot racks (in the kitchen).....and a lot of repair and also decorative items.
Which reminds me, I owe Denise a dinner bell! Triangle-thingy. LOL
We have a pretty good (great) staff of guys....which helps when we want to get away. The bad part is that no one else does MY work. It's always waiting for me when I get home. Jay never did work in the field that he went to college for. He discovered the business for sale in Cave Creek about 22 years ago, and taught himself how to do it. It has grown immensely from that time. It's been a great business, but it's hard work, and Jay wouldn't mind retiring soon. We're waiting for A. The kids to get through college and B. To see if Jared wants the business someday. THEN.......we'll find a nice island to build on. Thus, my excuse for all the cruises! Searching for the right spot. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :teeth:

Hey gaRry, how are you doing? You promised to give us the whole story but we haven't heard any more....
One more week until the kids go back to school! :cool1: Even DD is looking forward to it. I think she got bored this summer. It is the first summer she has been home rather than in a "daycare" program all summer. So she had to play with her cousin most of the summer. They are only 10 months apart (Sam is the older one but shorter by almost 7 inches!!) but are like night and day. I think they did better when they only saw each other occasionally but since my SIL moved in across the street they are together much more often (just about every day this past summer). Ah well, they will survive.
Ugh, got to get ready for the work monster again.

We don't have a website. We don't even do a lot of advertising. Even though we have done work for a lot of places around the country, most of our work is restricted to just our immediate area.. It isn't very cost-efficient to go into Phoenix, or to ship things across country. So we've never done a website because we really couldn't fill orders from far away.
I did have a site saved from a long time ago that had featured a staircase that we did, let me check and see if it's still reachable.
We did just get a set of plans to work on some of the remodel at the Disney Store in Paradise Valley. Pretty cool to walk into my office and see "DISNEY" plans on my desk!
I just looked...the site is gone now.

Wow! That does sound cool. I'd love to see some of Jay's work. Like I said, I love handmade stuff. On previous cruises I have tried to find stores that sell local crafts that aren't too touristy. So far I haven't had much luck though we did find the Key West Winery and are definitely wanting to go back.
One of these days we will make it back to the southwest. We were out that way several years ago.... drove from Las Vegas to Williams and took the steam train tour to the Grand Canyon. And many years before that I drove through that part of the country on the way to LA but haven't done much stopping.

Jordan has decided that she likes her room clean...so that's a good thing.
Jared's room is awful. Drove me nuts for a long time. Jay finally told me to quit worrying about it, quit hollering at the kid, and just shut the door. He said "If he wants to live like a pig, then let him"
gaRry.....want me to tell for you???
I'm deaf in my right ear. It can be a problem sometimes. I used to muddle through a conversation (it's worse when there's a lot of noise in the room) but then I realized that I was just asking for trouble. I was afraid I would respond inappropriately....like saying "That's nice!" and someone just told me their Grandma died.......so now I tell people. But it took years to work up to that. I could go get a hearing aid....if I had the time!!
The BEST part about it.....I sleep on my left side.....when the kids were babies, I never heard them at night!! Jay got up with them! :teeth:

Stace, a hearing aid won't help poor Sam! The nerve itself does not function so she will never hear in that ear. Poor kid doesn't know what stereo is. But she does ok. And she likes her teacher. She and I went in and met her, brought school supplies, etc.
gaRry, I hate working the OT. I haven't had any in a LOOOOOOOONG time. No extra money for me I guess. :(
We don't mind stories one line at a time. :hourglass Makes us appreciate them more, eh?
I wish I were on a cruise right now! I am so sick of it all. DH is driving me nuts, I am tired all the time so I need to relax, I just want to be somewhere that I don't have to think about work or the yard, etc. Oh well....

One thread from the 2nd page... :earseek:
I'm trying to de-clutter my playroom, and the rest of my house for that matter, before I have to go back to work next week. And according to "FlyLady.net", the computer is BAAAD so I am trying to limit myself to an hour a day. That gives me time to read but not much time to post. Does anybody here use FlyLady? It really does work if you follow her. She's a house cleaning Nazi!!
Well, hubby got all the bad news. Permanent life-style change or he's in big trouble. He's got medication, he has to test his blood twice a day, loose at least 100lbs, see an nutritionist and NO MORE McDONALDS!!!!!! I told him I will give him the weekend but starting Monday, no more messing around. We are all on diets. Jimmy's goal - 100lbs, my goal - 25lbs, Julia - 10lbs. I am cleaning out all cabinets and freezer of any foods that we will not be allowed to have. Actually, I'm kinda siked to start this. Jimmy even seems committed. He made jokes about it at the dr's office (that's how he deals with everything) but I think he did a good job convincing him how serious this is. THe good news is that his diabetes is weight related and if drops the weight the dr is pretty sure it will go away.
Kat, I was wondering if you know of any free websites that have diabetic recipes? It seems once you ask for specific recipes at the sites, they charge you.
Well, reaching my time limit :goodvibes , and still have to vist the "budget" and "dismeets" board (doing a dis meet at Canobie Lake Park this Sunday  :cool1:  ) before my hour is up.
Have a great day and Kat, GET SOME REST!!!!!! You sound stressed.

MaryAnn, those lifestyle changes are tough. I wish I could get my DH to do that. He could stand to lose at least 50 lbs but there is no medical reason (even his doctor isn't pushing him to) other than its just better for him so he won't. I'd love to lose about 20 lbs but I hate exercise and I can't eat much less than I do already. I hate veggies and fruits (that's a long story for another time) so it's tough for me. Oh well. Anyway, I sent you a PM with some ideas.
I wish I could get some rest. Stress is my life right now. DH won't talk to his sister who is my best friend so I am stuck in the middle. He just got his fall teaching schedule and he has class Monday morning, Monday afternoon, Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday and Friday mornings. He will work his other job Wednesday and Friday afternoons and all day Thursday and Saturday, leaving him almost no time for his family as he has class prep to do in between. He complains about the yard work but won't let me hire someone so the lawn needs mowed and the trimming hasn't been down in weeks. I am NOT going to sit around in the evenings and wait for him when we usually do dinner across the street at the SIL's house anyway. And I am not going to spend my Saturday's bored because he is working and doesn't think I should spend time with my best friend because he is mad at his sister! No, there is no stress in my life! :headache:
Sorry for the rant, but I am near in tears sometimes and I don't know what to do. He can make me so mad sometimes. I don't mind supporting him and backing him up when he is right but when is dead wrong I feel I would be doing him a disservice if I were to tell him it was ok. Is that wrong of me?
Oh well...things will get better, they always do. And it is Friday which means tomorrow is Saturday and Sunday is dd's birthday. :cheer2:

Men are so much fun. NOT. (love ya gaRry!)
I need to lose at least 40 pounds if not more. I can't have most vegetables, salads, and some fruits (tummy troubles)....and have the world's slowest metabolism....so I take DHEA and try to watch what I eat. But I need to really get into gear. I know it isn't going to get any easier the older I get.
I wish they just had a vaccine for fat.
Hang in there, Kat. I remember telling Jay at one point last year, when his sister was driving us both nuts, his brother was being just plain evil, I was working hard on his dad's trust stuff, the kids were crapping out in school, and our married daughter and her DH were being a pain in the rear..."I just want things to be NORMAL again!!"
And my loving husband says to me "There is no such thing as normal".......thanks honey.:(

Hey gaRry, are you the only guy on our board??? What is your view on this sort of thing??? Just out of curiosity, mind you.
I think we should all just be able to make a wish and lose whatever weight we want. Heck, my SIL did that....she signed a piece of paper and lost 360 lbs! Ooops, that was her ex-husband, never mind :rotfl2:
I am so jealous of these people that have the willpower to work out every day and eat the "right" foods. I hate the "right" foods though I have gotten better about not eating the "wrong" ones. Oh well.

I used to be one of those hated people that could eat anything and everything (in large amounts) and not gain an ounce. When I first started dating Jimmy, he was shocked that I could eat my dinner AND start eyeballing some of his. Poor guy has the slowest metabolism on earth.

Personal Hygiene
1. While ears need to be cleaned regularly, this job should be done in private with one's OWN truck keys.
2. Proper use of toiletries can forstall bathing for several days. However, if you live alone, doedorant is a waste of good money.
Dining Out
1. When decanting wine, make sure you tilt the paper cup, and pour slowly so as not to "bruise" the fruit of the vine.
2. If drinking directly from the bottle, always hold it with your fingers covering the label.
Dating (Outside the Family)
1. Always offer to bait your date's hook, especially on the first date.
2. Be aggressive...let her know you're interested: "I've been wanting to go out with you since I read that stuff on the bathroom wall two years ago."
3. Establish with her parents what time she is expected back. Some will say, "10:00pm"; Others mights "Monday". If the latter is the answer, it is the man's responsibility to get her to school on time.
Theatre Etiqutte
1. Crying babies should be taken to the lobby and picked up immediately after the movie has ended.
2. Refrain from talking to the characters on the screen; tests prove they can't hear you.
Tips For All Occasions
1. Never take Beer to a Job Interview.
2. Always identify people in your yard before shooting them.
3. It's considered tacky to take a cooler to church.
4. If you have to vaccuum the bed, it's time to change the sheets.
5. Even if you are sure you are included in the will, it's still considered tacky to bring a U-Haul to the funeral home.
Have a GREAT DAY Everyone!!

Can I just go back to bed and not do anything today?
gaRry, you aren't supposed to drive with sugar that low! Believe me, I know. I have probably driven that low and it is BAAAAAAD to do that. I get yelled at. Are you hypoglycemic or diabetic?

A guy sticks his head into the barber shop and asks, "How long before I can get a haircut?" The barber looks around and replies, "About 2 hours." The guy leaves.
A few days later, the guy sticks his head in the door and asks, "How long before I can get a haircut?" The barber looks around at a shop full of customers and says, "About 3 hours." The guy leaves.
A week later, the same guy pokes his head in the shop and asks, "How long before I can get a haircut?" The barber looks around and says, "About an hour and a half." The guy leaves.
Confused, the barber looks over at a friend in the shop and says, "Hey, Bill, follow that guy and see where he goes. He keeps asking how long he has to wait for a haircut, but then never comes back."
A little while later, Bill returns, laughing hysterically. The barber asks, "Bill, where did he go when he left here?" Bill looks up, tears in his eyes and says, "Your House!!!"

For adventure this will be calm. Boarded Grandeur in the Port of Baltimore, my home town, around noon on Sunday. We have been on her before so it was fun walking the upper decks and looking in the staterooms, especially the suites. Our room was ready at 2pm. This was a crown and anchor cruise so we signed up for a few activities, making bead jewelry. Also went to 2 Captain/crown and anchor parties. Sister and I went swimming in Horseshoe Bay and Snorkel Bay Beach. Jeanne went with us for an island tour. We also went to a festival on the wharf and did a little shopping. The weather was great, Irene had already passed and the seas were 4-8. I would love to go back to Bermuda and I don't mind the Grandeur ( Magic and Radiance are nicer looking). And Capt Hakkan is very friendly.

Hey Denise....both Jimmy and I walked off the 10 Day Cruise with pnuemonia, went to the Dr and walked out with our own bottles of "Happy Juice", as we re-named it. Whatever you do, don't be driving. That stuff knocks you for a loop. Get your rest and lots of fluid :grouphug:
Sue...actually went very good. Jimmy went to work with turkey sandwich (on whole wheat) and salad yesterday. Had chicken and salad for dinner and took the same for lunch today. For him, he has to be sure to eat. He is the type that goes most of the day without eating and then has three meals and snacks when he gets home from work. Time to break that habit

What is it with men (sorry gaRry) not eating all day and then coming home and eating everything in sight? My dh does that too. Or he'll eat a regular dinner and then 3 hours later he'll eat again, and usually he'll eat what I would eat in a regular meal! Oh well.
Well, Samantha starts 3rd grade today! I got her on the bus and sent off to her new school. We will see what she thinks when I get home from work this evening. I got worried when my niece didn't come out to get on the bus this morning. I called SIL on the cell phone, no answer. I called the house phone, no answer. By now I am imaging them all dead or unconscious from carbon monoxide! So I got the house key and went across the street. No, they were just all asleep! The phone in the bedroom had not been turned back on (she turns it off when her BF is there because he goes to bed by 8pm and she is afraid that someone will call and wake him) and her alarm either didn't go off or she didn't hear it. Both are typical of her. So she had to get up, throw clothes on and drive her dd to school for the first day. Better her than me!
Well, back to work....

Hello Christmas Cruisers!
My name is Willie, and my family is looking into joining you guys on the 10 day 2006. We will be taking our 2nd Thanksgiving cruise this November on the Magic.
(I have not read all 150 pages of this thread, so forgive me if you have discussed this already.)
Did read somewhere that I cannot get the 10 % discount for booking onboard for the 10 day? We are planning on booking while on our November cruise. That 10% is huge for this cruise.
Thanks for the info, and if we join you, I will be posting here to warn you about a very dangerous person that is already sailing with you!
