nope she must remain as still as possible. I have her tied in a corner so that all her feed, water, and hay are right in front of her. If she walks around, the bruises/irritation/damage will only get worse. I guess i will have to run to the tack store again and pick up boredom busters. I will most likely start looking for another horse. It just makes me so mad/sad/frustrated. I will probably get a colt out of a famous stallion and not geld him. I am just crazy mad. The vet says its a 40% chance that she will never be able to be ridden again. :sniff: she will have to wait 2 years until she will be bred :sniff: but I will never get to see my baby have a happy life. :bursts into tears: :sad2: :sad2: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :( :worried:

:wave2: Hi All,
Oh jEn. I am so sorry to hear about BOO.We will be thinking about her and sending some pixie dust. :grouphug:
Off to see Chicken Little today. The girls schools are closed so mommy gets a day away from work.
The weather has been lovely. Cloudy and cool, some rain (only a tease amount though). I'm in heaven.
Lets see whats new...Kira is counting to 10 ( she'll be three in a couple of weeks), Sierra is starting to read and scored above average for math, Paul is working like a dog and so am I. We are trying to figure out what to do with the lottery when we win. :rotfl: I said we would definately upgrade to the ROY Disney suite. 16 people for Thanksgiving this year. Remind me to have the grey matter checked.
I hope all is well with everybody. We are hoping to go to DL for Kira and my birthday. The commercials are out for Christmas at Disneyland. Golden ears and mistletoe.Has a nice ring to it .
Gotta go check the movie times.
Take care all..
cheers-D

Thanks all for your pixie dust. She is feeling better. Instead of her whole leg being sore, its just the stifle area (which is around the hip). I put some linament on it to numb the pain and keep the area cool. To keep a horse from getting bored, you get them toys.
This is a roller.

Glad to hear Boo is feeling a bit better, Jen.
Sounds like we are going to have more great people joining us after they book Thankgiving. YEAH :cheer2:   :cheer2:
Denise, hope you win so we can have a big party in your newly aquired suite. Glad to hear Sierra is doing well at school. They are like little sponges at this age. We are going to Jimmy's DB's for Turkey Day. SIL wants to show off her new kitchen with the $7,000 stove and that's fine by me. For that amount of money I think a little servant should pop out of the oven along with the turkey and serve dinner :rotfl:
So, started wrapping Christmas Presents last night. I figure if I do as I go along I won't feel so overwhelmed the week of Christmas. Was going to do some Black Friday Shopping but they are having such great sales now I though I might be able to bang it all out before then. Last year I barely decorated the house because we were not going to be around to enjoy it but this year I'm gonna go nuts and make up for it.
Well, it's supposed be 60 degrees here today. I think this is the third Sunday in a row it's been way above normal. I keep saying, "This will be the last nice day", so I'm gonna get out and enjoy it.
Everyone have a Great Sunday

sUe that would be the turning basin where she docks, she comes in quite fast then stops and does a 180 turn and docks there are more lights along the way but again she is moving right along. So I would say the best place is on the road at the terminal on the north side I hope that helps or jetty park as she comes in to the channel, RON JON has a new hotel right there or I stay at the raddision free parking for the cruise there and use there shuttle bus. neither place are you going to walk from

Good morning all!
gaRry, you can't possibly expect people to post over the weekend? Some of us have things to do. Not me, maybe, but I am sure someone here does. :confused3
We spent yesterday doing demolition on part of a mobile home that my dh just helped his godparents buy. They are living in a house that is literally falling down around them and their son died in a car accident back in May so dh is the only one to help them now. Large chunks of floor had to be torn out and replaced due to a water heater leak at some point in the past. The floor was so bad that SIL fell through it at one point! Lots more to do, but made a good start yesterday.
Really getting ready for the NYC Thanksgiving trip now. Getting stuff together, etc. Got tix to take SIL to see CHICAGO. Should be interesting.
Gotta go get myself and dd ready for work....

Hello all! Yes, we survived the storms here. Lots of rain and some wind in my area, though lots of tornado watches and warnings yesterday. Those that touched down weren't anywhere near us, though.
It was in the 60s yesterday and now only 30s, brrrrrr.
I am home sick today. Achy and tired. I actually came home at lunchtime yesterday and slept all afternoon. Don't want to be sick on Thursday, going to the midnight Harry Potter movie, then NYC next week. NO SICK, NO NO NO!
Jen, hope things get better for you. if it weren't for the horses you'd be welcome here. We don't have room for horses in our yard! But dd would love to have one. There is a stable nearby that might board Boo, though. I guess I haven't been paying much attentiion on here lately (I haven't gotten my notifications in two or three days so I had to catch up), but what's up kiddo?
Well, I need to crawl back into bed or something. I am freezing and just want to sleep....

hey all. feeling alot better this morning. I talked to the vet yesterday and he showed me the X-rays. They aren't good looking. He said Boo can probably be untied sometime next week, but she will have to stay in her stall for another 6-8 weeks after that due to severe muscle damage. He is afraid that she could seriously hurt herself if she starts running around. I don't know what to do. There isn't much i can do with her except grooming. I am riding a horse for an older gentleman that only rides 1 time a month. His horse isn't the best behaved so i take care of him. But still, it's hard not to have your own. I am going to look at horses that are saddle broke. Like 2 year olds. I will let you know if i find anything. I don't think i want another baby. Too long until i can ride them.

Good Morning - I am glad there is nothing on my planner for today. I will catch up on housework and watch football. My 20yo niece will be celebrating her bday on Thanksgiving and wants an ice cream cake. I have a cherry, apple and 3 pumpkin pies in my freezer. Guess I will send my family home with a frozen pie along with the left overs. Dinner is at 5pm so no 2nd seating!
Sue

11-20-2005, 06:21 AM
Sue, sounds like us most years! this year we will have leftover ham and lasagna I am sure. Instead of freezing the lasagna I will be putting it in containers and sending it home with people as we really don't want to haul it back to Indiana from New York! I got the lasgnas put together yesterday and put them in the freezer so they will make the trip from here to NYC and I don't have to spend the time putting them together there. Three more days and off we go.
Today is laundry and grocery shopping for me, then I can start packing for the trip. And DH is off to the trailer that his godparents bought today. We have to get the floors put back together so they can get moved in. There was so much water damage from when some idiot put in a new water heater and didn't get the coupling tightened properly. He got the damaged floor out last week but hasn't had the time to go back and get any more done since last Sunday.
Hope you all have a great Sunday!!

Well the vet came and saw Boo. She is 90% healed. She can go for long hand walks and short hand trots. Still no turnout but at least she can get out of her stall. That also means i have to get up at 5 in the morning to go walk her before school since it has to be twice a day. ACK!
magiroux
11-20-2005, 08:23 PM
Glad Boo is feeling better. 5am...bet it's cold too, but it's for a good cause.
I love hearing everyone's Thanksgiving Day menu too. And I love watching the different cooking shows for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Sauerkraut??? I don't think I've heard of that one before. How/what do you serve it with?
When I lived at home it was always lasagna in late morning (after the High School football game) and Turkey with all the fixin's at dinner time. Basically an all day eat fest :earseek: . We're Italian, we can't help it...there's never enough food. DH's family always has the big meal about 1 o'clock so I haven't carried on that tradition. My SIL's Mom makes a meat stuffing that is like GOLD. It tastes like nothing else I have ever tried and is soooooo good. It is literally rationed around the table and I pity the fool who takes more than their fair share pirate:
Kat, question for you. You say you "put together" your lasagna and froze it. Did you cook it first? I wanted to make a spinach lasagna for a ski trip but can't cook it because the sauce that goes with it I know will not freeze well, but I wasn't sure if the ricotta and eggs would be ok to freeze before cooking. Just wondering if that is how you do it. Thanks.

jEn....glad to hear about Boo...not so glad that you'll be freezing your nose off at 5:00 a.m.!!
We have a totally traditional Thanksgiving....turkey, stuffing, mashed 'taters, sweet potatoes (with brown sugar sauce and marshmallows...mmmm) green bean casserole, cranberry jelly, rolls, pumpkin pie and my special apple crisp.
The sauerkraut sounds good to me. There's a Bohemian restaurant back home that we HAVE to go to when I'm there, and I always get the roast chicken and sauerkraut. The kraut is in a slighty sweet, creamy sauce. I searched and searched for the recipe, and finally found one in Jay's Great-Grandma's cookbook. Only made it once, I'm the only one who likes sauerkraut.
dobelover
11-21-2005, 05:34 AM
Morning All - The sauerkraut for Thanksgiving is regional. Native Baltimore folks and local restaurants have it. Last year on the Magic I had ham for Christmas cause turkey just wasn't the same without the 'kraut!

It was cold, but i survived. lol. I seem to be missing the theme of the last couple of pages, so i will not miss it anymore. Let's see. My family has a big turkey, mashed and sweet potatoes, stuffing (<--my favorite), and lots of veggies. lol. I love stuffing. I am the "carb" queen. Then we watch a football game or I take my family over to see my horse. The kids sometimes go riding with me if i can snag a few horses to borrow otherwise they take turns riding. This year i will have to borrow a horse for them to ride because even though Boo is 90% healed, the condition (whatever it may be) may still come back.

MaryAnn, I have never frozen the lasagna before making it but the instructions I used said I could. I didn't use egg because my aunt is a vegetarian and doesn't eat egg but she does eat cheese so that is good.

Hi everybody!
Great news Jen. Yeah for Boo.
Traditional dinner here. Turkey, stuffing, giblet gravy, green beans (no casserole just Texas style with bacon and onion), sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, corn scallop, cranberry sauce, and Paul is making a pie and creme brulee'. God I love that man.
Yep its a vertiable carb fest. Sweet potaotes are tradition in my family but Paul is used to mashed so now we have both.
I've made lasagne before and froze it. No problem. Eggs freeze fine.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday with those you love.

you Bitc* slap him stacey! oh i guess i was supposed to NOT read that. oh heck. I'm a young adult, not a kid. lol. I got Boo some Purina Complete Advantage. It's like mash kind of stuff. Its crushed pelets with sweet feed, oats, and corn mixed in to make it sticky crushed pelets. Sounds yummy huh? i will have to take a picture sometime. well, i have to make plans for a video project. My group has to make an advertisement for a product dealing with the Greek god Poseiden. He is the God of horses, so we are making horses the new fashion statement. Our slogan is... (don't laugh!)
"The newest, hottest thing for between your legs! Get a horse and always be fashionable!"

garry we are just concered for your health. OMG! it was so funny. So i used a Dash For Cash grandson i am training named Cisco for our project. (Dash for Cash is the greatest quarter horse and for that matter one of the greatest race horses and sires). Cash sires all the great barrel horses. So Cisco is really fast. I am riding in a toga (a fleece horse blanket wrapped around me) and with towels for a "saddle". Just colored towels. So i put Cisco into a run and OMG he was flying. And then i asked him to stop and he slid and i almost went off the front. The girls doing the filming didn't think he was going to stop. I didn't think he was going to slide. He usually just slows down and stops. It was hysterical. Anyway, that one is going on the out-takes section of our dvd. lol.

Now, i am just waiting for my new DVD burner to install itself. Its an internal drive (means it actually goes in the tower), so it takes a LONG time to install. Anyhow, i will just wait and wait. 5- Dining time (main or late)
6- Preferred rotation (like APL if you want to be in Lumiere's on christmas day)

Jen, do you think they'd let all of us have the same rotation? I don't really care what rotation as long as we can sit with some of the fine folk from this board! This will be our first time doing late seating so it is an experiment for us. I expect dd will probably not eat many dinners with us as she likes to eat earlier but that is fine. She can eat with the kids club as far as I am concerned. Makes for a quieter, more peaceful dinner for us anyway!
I cannot believe we are getting closer to the one year mark on this cruise! It still seems waaaaay to far off but it gets closer everyday! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

yeah they will as long as one person calls and tells them what reservation numbers will be sitting around eachother. Then each individual party as to call and verify that they agreed to this arrangement. Sounds fun huh? I think a majority of the DIS group as main, as i was just looking over the list. I am going to try and add a picture column, so everybody knows who's who as the DIS meet, but that's far from done. lol. I was reading the first couple pages of this thread and wow, lol, it was sooooo dead. lol. There were maybe 5 different people posting and that's it. Now we are up to 15 at the least.

Thanks for the info!! The Magic looks great---there is a large movie screen over the Goofy pool. On Thanksgiving they had football on the large screen so no one needed to miss a game while on vacation!! Scoops turned into Goofy's Galley--fresh fruit, sandwiches and pasta all day long. I heard that the improvements to the spa were amazing---I never made it up there--silly me!! Also, Rockin Bar D is now non smoking which is great!! I am very smoke sensitive and last year I wasn't able to spend any time there. You have to see the pictures of John, Ron and Willie at 80s night!!

I mailed a fully-decorated one to the ship last year...cost all of $14.00 and then just donated it to the ladies manning the DISNEY VACATION CLUB desk. As far as I know they're still hauling it out of the ship closet each Christmas decoration time....

Everyone requested to "link" there reservations to Willie and My reservation and I was able to get the APL rotation...late for all of us.

DCL Goddess-Thanks for adding us to the trip list!!
Kat- I think we had 28 tables linked together for the thanksgiving magic this cruise. Thanks to Ron we all had late seating apl rotation--it was perfect!! We were all in the same area of the dining rooms. On semi formal night right after dinner we all posed in the atrium. I believe there is a picture on the 11/19/05 live thread.
To any of you who did the 10 day holiday cruise in 2004, please let us know how many formal nights there were and which nights they were. Thanks!!

Boy, gaRry really likes his tops, doesn't he???
Well, after looking at our finances we decided to downgrade our stateroom, but it is better than cancelling our cruise! We are no longer on Deck 6 in a cat 8, now on deck 2 in a cat 10 (the only 10's left are on deck 2 and there were only a few of those left!). DH decided that since we aren't going to have a veranda we might as well just do the inside room. Since the difference between a 10 and an 11 was only $200 we decided to go for the 10 and get the little bit of extra space and the split bath. We have never had one so it should be interesting. We have had two cat 11s and then a 3 on the last cruise. Quite a difference! But we don't spend that much time in our room so what the heck. And it gives us a little more discretionary money for the trip so I am not going to complain too much.
Hope everyone is well this fine Monday morning.

yeah they will as long as one person calls and tells them what reservation numbers will be sitting around eachother.
The Thanksgiving thread we had started kinda slow. We only had about 200 posts last Spring. But by the end of Summer we had a ton of people posting lots of pictures of prior cruises, etc. It got to be alot of fun. We ended up with 5,131 posts.
You guys already have a good start here, so the sky is the limit. We ended up having 28 staterooms linked for dining. Which I am not sure was a good idea or not!

Kat,
you won't be alone at late seating. We really like it. It gave us time to get back from shore excursions, relax. And decide if we wanted to see the early show or not. No rush to eat. Our seating time this past Nov. was at 8:00 Pm each night. We really had a lot of fun at late dining. The late dining also had very few younger age kids. But there were LOTS OF BIG KIDS! -(See below)

W - that sounds good. My DH is a big kid so he will fit in well. DD will likely be eating with the kids most nights so we should be fine. We will definitely have to link everyone together and get seated near/with the rest of our crazy crew. We have never done that so it will be fun to have folks we have gotten to know prior to the cruise.

Kat.....when the late/early debate comes up I ALWAYS tell the story of me strolling down by the internet cafe around 6 sipping one of my favorite beverages, thinking about a relaxing day at port, checking on my DD to let her know we have a couple of hours before dinner when down the stairs comes a family of about 8 Mom, Dad, Grandma and Grandpa and kids yelling and screaming "come on hurry up, we have already missed the pictures lets not be late for dinner......again!

We have always eaten early, primarily because of DD. We decided that on this cruise we will let her eat early in the buffet if she wants and then we will go to dinner without her most days (I would like her to have dinner with us on Christmas Day). When we cruised in June we were a table away from what appeared to be a single mom with a child still in a stroller. By the last night she and the child were the only ones at their large table. She brought the stroller in and then kept trying to feed him but he kept screaming. Why she insisted on staying in there with him I have no idea but we had had enough. Fortunately we had pretty much finished our dinner so we got up and left but I understand what you mean about avoiding that type of thing!

Kat, I'm on late seating too so you're not alone. I think Denise is too. I would be happy to do the arrangments for linking the Late Seating. It's still too early to get the lists together and I would not call until about the 30 day mark. On the '04 cruise someone switched to early after we were all linked and the entire group ended up being switched to early. It was a bit of a nightmare for a few days, so it's best to wait. Willie, I love late seating too. You really don't feel rushed, especially after a day in the ports.

This will be our 3rd DCL cruise and we have chosen late seating for all of the cruises. Our DS who will be 7 at the time of the '06 cruise would not want to sit for such a long dinner whether we chose early or late seating. He loves the OC and spends most of his time at the Club. Other advantages of late seating--the character breakfast and the last morning breakfast are not at the crack of dawn--Our DS always has graced us w/ his presence at those meals!!

MaryAnn, hope it doesn't get too bad there. It was practically whiteout here when I left work last night. DH drove me to work this morning. Our road was the worst, drifted in places. Most of the main roads were already clear though. All the area schools cancelled this morning, though, so DH is home this morning as his morning class got cancelled when they cancelled the city schools.
I should be ok this afternoon when I go out to finish my shopping. Hopefully I can get the rest of it done and not have to worry about it. Then cookie baking tomorrow morning. And tree decorating. Saw the new Pirates of the Caribbean trailer when we went to see Narnia Friday night! Looks like lots of fun but not out until July of next year.
Got my tree up and decorated last night. It looks so pretty. Now if I can keep the cats from sleeping under the tree. I spent quite a while defurring the skirt before I could put it out. At least they don't try to climb it or knock ornaments down!
DD had a slumber party last night. I have five 8 and 9 year old girls in my living room being giggly right now. They are still so cute at that age! I need to go make breakfast soon then off to the grocery store and then to start my Christmas cookie baking.
Later.....

Kat...I usually have a group of 5-7 15 year old cheerleaders...still giggly at 15, and still a lot of fun to listen to. Amazing how much I learn by eavesdropping!
jEn...how is Boo doing now? Better?
Heading to Target for about the 4th time this week. I wish everyone would let me know what they ran out of BEFORE I make the 1st trip of the week!

If not, Willie-pls pm your info to jEn. Thanks!!

hey all. Well, I just ordered my prom dress. i know its early, but it's all handmade. You can see a great picture of it here.

i am getting an exact replica made for me, minus the hair piece. It comes with a more formal head piece. So look for me to wear that on the next cruise lol.
I feel like i have been too absent here. Who agrees?

Sue, we're staying at AKL prior to the cruise, so I'll be at the terminal whenever the AKL bus gets there. I suppose I should find out more specifically, right? :rotfl: :rotfl:
Also, you can tell your sister I've never done a Western before (been on 4 DCL cruises so far). Sure she won't change her mind???
I hope to see you in the terminal! I'll try to find out when the bus gets there.

Sue, it will be so great to see you in Aug.! Do come in early Aug. Keith wants the big 1-0 birthday ("my first 2 digit birthday," he calls it) in WDW. Since he's an early September baby, and I'm taking him out of school 2 weeks early for the cruise in Dec., we'll have to have his big b-day at the Mouse House in late Aug. Does that make sense? Anyhow, I hope you're planning on early to mid-Aug in Seattle. I'd hate to keep missing you! Feb. is bad enough...

How is everyone this morning? We are due for more snow today, along with rain and freezing rain, my favorite. NOT!
DH thinks I am nuts. We were talking about the cruise last night and I mentioned that I have been on this board and that by the time we cruise we will have folks we can hang out with and he said I was off my rocker as the cruise is still just over a year out. I think this makes the waiting easier personally! But maybe that's just me.
Anyway, happy Wednesday everyone!!!

 On a DISNEY cruise???? LOL
I think I caused a commercial or maybe a news bit, to be re-shot...on our DCL Mexican Riviera cruise. We had watched them filming while onboard. One scene showed a young woman walking past the gift shops on her way to the theater.
Anyway, I had just gotten out of the shower and heard my son and hubby hollering about a helicopter that was just outside our balcony. (We were in the Roy). So I ran to the door and opened it up...just in time to see a guy in the helicopter with a camera aimed our way. About that time I realized that I hadn't grabbed a robe:earseek: !!!!
Well, heck, there's not USUALLY anyone out there!
I'm guessing they had to do a re-take. :rotfl:
