Are you bringing it from home? The food courts aren't open at that time.
I'm not really sure what to do.
I'm thinking a bannana would be good. Maybe I could pick up a good whole wheat bagel and one of those packets of cream cheese and keep it on ice in my room until the marathon.
I'll be using GU and GU20 during the race.
What is everyone doing? Help I need ideas?

Bringing some peanut butter on a slice of whole wheat bread. I am planning on making it and just bringing it along in a ziploc baggie. I have heard that a quick service area of the food courts will be open for us (3 am, I think?), but I have been having a half of a peanut butter sandwich for a couple of weeks now, so I am sticking with that.
Bagel with cream cheese sounds yummy for after, though!

I know I'm eating a piece of fruit, probably a banana pre-race. My problem is I usually drink a coffee pre-long runs and I'm not sure I can get my hands on a cup that early. Any ideas?
I usually don't eat more than a piece of fruit before longer runs, but I am only doing the 1/2. If I were doing the whole I would base it on what you've done in training. Did you eat a bagel and fruit in training and did it work for you? It sounds like a good idea to me!

I eat PB on whole wheat every morning. I didn't think of that. I think I'll do that and a Bannana. I know my stomach likes those things.
Actually I haven't been eating prior to a long walk/run because I do it after work. I can't eat just before but if I eat at 2:30 or 3am and the race is at 6am I'll be fine.
Good to know about the food court. It would be nice not to have to leave the room prior to having to be on the bus. It's so early as it is.

Just a reminder...Race day is not the time to "try" anything new...so I recommend eating what you have been eating before your long miles...you will probably be able to pick up whatever you need the day before...maybe you can bring one of those small coolie lunch bag things...but if you didn't eat any breakfast before you trained for long miles, then don't have breakfast the day of the race...

The only thing is I didn't train in the morning. I trained after work and If I could not eat a full dinner and train. I would just not eat until after I trained. I sometimes have a snack in the afternoon but not usually. I think that eating 3 1/2 hours prior to the start of the race should be plenty of time to have whatever be out of my stomach.
I do know the time I did 10 miles I didn't eat prior, but did have the GU's. At the end I think my body was really low of fuel and I could feel it. I think my body will perform better eating several hours prior, just not right before. That is where the GU should hopefully help.

This was my pre-race for the DIsney Triatlon (We did have 7 am start, because you can't swim in the dark). We stayed at Coronado Springs, I went the the Peper Market the night before. I bought a banana, a bagel - not tosted, and picked up some honey and PB. They all sat on the table all night with no problems, the Gatorade was iced down in the sink. I woke up at 4 am, ate, dressed and headed to the race site.
Tinks - when you check in, ask for a coffee maker for your room. The worst they could do is say no. :)

I know that all of the Team in Training Resorts--POFQ, POR, and CBR will have a quicky service open with grab and go. Not sure if it's just for the team...but I'd doubt they turn you away.
I'm bringing my bagel and banana from home :)

We're bringing bagels and PB from home. And I think I'll drink some gatorade too. I think I may do the same thing and bring it with me vs eating in the room b/c if I eat at 2:30 or 3 a.m. I'd imagine it won't last me till the 6 am start.

I'm going to pick up a muffin and banana on Saturday and keep it in my room. I'll probably bring it with me, as I tend to eat 2 hours before start and we're catching the bus earlier than that.
