Hi all!
Count us in for the Oct. 23 Disney Wonder!!

StuartMI...I see you are from Ann Arbor...we are from Midland!

Do either of you have children coming on the cruise?
I am bringing my DS9, DD18, DD21. My DH is sitting this one out...it is actually a graduation present for DD18. My DH, DS9 went on the Wonder last Halloween...it was great! We rebooked a 7-day for Oct. 2006...but I just couldn't wait that long for another one!

I am trying to get my counter to work...but am having problems. I'll keep trying!

StuartMI
01-10-2005, 02:30 PM
No kids. Eesh. :) I am 29 and DW is 31. Soon, but not yet.

Have been to Midland many times.. I am involved with the Jaycees and we have conventions every now and again at the Best Western Valley Plaza. Goot Filet steak at the restaurant there.

Nice graduation present and we are the same boat (no pun intended) -- we couldn't wait until 07/06 for our 7-day so we're doing a quick 4-day to get our fix.

Hi Shana. Welcome to the Oct 23 Wonder trip.
No children with us this time. DD will be 22 (hopefully working after she gradutes in May) and DS will be 23. This will only be our 2nd trip to Disney without the "kids", and we are looking forward to it. :cool1:

Okay, I know that this may be considered off topic, but I'm having problems finding info with the search tool...

It's almost as if there's too much information on the boards...

What's the deal with the pillowcase autographs?

Henlady
03-31-2005, 04:27 PM
Keef22
From what I have read on the boards, if you drop off a pillowcase or t-shirt at guest relations (have it in a lg ziplock bag with marker/markers) they will have the characters sign the item and then you can pick it up on the last night of the cruise. Sounds like a nice souvenir for the little ones - or maybe the big ones too.

Kris :wave2:

keef22
04-01-2005, 11:16 AM
That's a great idea. DS4 will probably be a little nervous going up to the characters :scared: , and I'd hate to have to carry an autograph book around with us all day...

Hi Shana.

Wanted to let you that it was great meeting you, Brent & Logan on last years' Halloween on the Wonder. I know how you feel about not wanting to wait to go on another cruise. Bob & I did one to the Southern Caribbean on Royal Caribbean's Serenade of the Seas last February. We left from San Juan and went to St Thomas, St Maarten, Antigua, St Lucia and Barbados. I think that was my favorite one so far. Lise (my sister), my other sister and I are taking Mom on a Western Caribbean this coming October 16. Girls Only!!! Since we are spread out all over the country, we are meeting in the middle and are leaving out of Galveston. Enjoy both your upcoming cruises. I know you will.

Anyone putting anything on their stateroom account before they go? We have a $100 credit for re-booking on board and I just loaded $400 onto it yesterday so we'll have $500 sitting there waiting for us when we board. A nice feeling.

Henlady
07-07-2005, 04:02 PM
Hadn't thought of putting down money beforehand, but it sounds like a good idea. We aren't planning on doing any "excursions" at this point in time, just a little sight seeing/shopping in Nassau in the morning, then DH and friend are thinking of going golfing at Cable Beach in the afternoon (taking their own clubs, etc) and DF and I are heading to Atlantis for the afternoon. Probably will just rent a float on CC. We are not big "picture" people so Shutters won't be an issue, but drinks may be another subject. Will be doing Wine Tasting and Beer Tasting and a few tropicals/martinis/beers each day. :cool1: I may book DH for the "Chakra Balancing capsule" at the spa if it is still available, he thought that looked pretty neat.

Hi Lissisuarez:

We're here. I'm sure the weather will be just fine for the cruise. Keep a positive attitude. We are not planning on dressing up for Pirates night. DH is not a "dress up" kind of guy. Probably just "tropical" type shirts.
This is our first cruise of any type. We have been to WDW many times though, and we're adding a few days there at the end of the cruise. Oct 23rd can't get here soon enough. :flower:

Hey, you've gotta do what you've gotta do. :earsboy:

What stateroom did you get? What category?

Maybe consider the romantic escape at sea add on - it's $339. for the package and includes couples well-being massage, romantic turndown service, champagne breakfast, box of chocolates, palo dining fee, etc. In addition, rather than having to wait till the 75 day mark to make your online reservations (and I do recommend you do that especially for Palo) you will be able to do it immediately (as long as you're paid off) since we're within 105 days of sailing right now.

Congrats.

i just realized my freudian misspelling up there. "bored" instead of "board."
i'm obviously at work.

we booked through small world vacations and requested a category 12. we're just getting started and between our student loans and our frantic search for new jobs in a new city, we don't have a lot (or any) to spare on bigger rooms/extras. i've read about the romance package and it sounds so nice. maybe we'll do it on an anniversary. :) we can definitely afford the chocolate covered strawberries and champagne for our room, though. and we're both interested in the rasul bath. :teeth:

the travel agent said we wouldn't know the room number till closer to the date. i'm not worried about it, though. after all of the stress of wedding planning, i'd be satisfied with a walk-in closet with an air mattress. (as long as we'd be all by ourselves and far away.)

Admiral Boom
08-01-2005, 12:22 PM
Sadly you won't get a walk in closet. If you can't do the REAS package, make sure you book Palo at precisely 75 days out at 3am Eastern Time. That way you'll be guaranteed a spot for a romantic dinner.

With regard to the CAT 12 - there is a decent chance you may be upgraded since there are only 12 cat 12 rooms on board. So, cross your fingers for a porthole!

Do some searching in the main forum on the rasul. From what I hear the room is ultra hot and steamy and while it sounds naughty and romantic, some apparantly get in there and sit as if its a sauna because its too hot to move. DW and I opt for the couples well-being massage.

Welcome KristenCheeks and contratulations on your upcoming nuptuals.
DH and I will be celebrating our 30th Anniversary on this cruise. Wish you a long and happy life together - it goes by quickly.

We are booked in one of the "secret porthole" rooms on deck 5.
This is also our first cruise ever. Can't wait.
I'm sure you'll need the relaxation of the cruise after all the wedding planning.

Would enjoy getting a meet together to get to know all the other "dis'ers".

Anyone else anxious to make their reservations for Palo? I am still not sure what night to make them for. I remember reading somewhere what the typical rotation is if you are travelling with kids but can't seem to find it when I need it :confused3 I definetly don't want to make them for Tuesday because I am pretty sure that it is Pirate's Night (am I right?) and know that Sunday is not a good one for us. jason's in charge of booking after midnight. so excited. i hope everything works out. we're just shooting for a 6:00 seating on any night -- preferably the last, so we have something super nice to end the honeymoon with -- but any other time is fine, too.

our regular dining seating is 8:30, and we're greedy double dippers. :earboy2:

Henlady
08-09-2005, 08:39 AM
Since this is our first cruise, I think we're gonna just "do" the normal rotation and save Palo for the next one (DH is already planning on booking a 7-day Western while we're on this one - as long as he likes cruising that is). I do want to reserve the "Chakra Balancing Capsule" treatment for DH, but I don't think you can reserve that one online.

I'm getting so excited. :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc I have my list of what to pack ready to go. DH decided we needed to get passports - cause we'll need them for that 7 day he's planning.

Anyone else anxious to make their reservations for Palo? I am still not sure what night to make them for.

See, we were up in the air on this one. I know pirate night is either going to be the 2nd night (Nassau) or 3rd night (CC) so I don't want to do Palos then. So that leaves either the 4th night, or the 1st night. Since it is quieter, and because we're just two adults and thus probably get the TAPT seating, we opted for Palos on the first night. Here is our (revised) schedule:

Day 1 - Port Canaveral - Sunday, October 23, 2005
Palo Dinner - 8:00PM 10:00PM (both)

Day 2 - Nassau - Monday, October 24, 2005
Thriller Powerboat - 10:45AM 12:15PM (both)
Elemis Exotic Hand Ritual with Manicure - 5:15PM 6:00PM (DW)
Elemis Sole Delight Foot Treatment with Pedicure - 6:00PM 7:00PM (DW)

Day 3 - Castaway Cay - Tuesday, October 25, 2005
Banana Boat Ride - 9:20AM 9:50AM (both)
Elemis Aroma Spa Ocean Wrap with Half Body Massage - 4:30PM 6:00PM (DW)

Day 4 - At Sea - Wednesday, October 26, 2005
Palo Brunch - 12:00PM 1:30PM (both)
Well Being Massage for Couples - 5:45PM 7:00PM (both)

Day 5 - Port Canaveral - Thursday, October 27, 2005
No Activities are reserved.

Hopefully we can still get a DIS meet in there somewhere and see everyone on board.

Well, all of you Oct 23rd cruisers, by my calculations, in 60 days we'll be waiting to board the Wonder. :Pinkbounc Time is creaping up quickly, but not quickly enough. I found myself starting to gather up all those little things you just can't do without on a vacation and putting them away. That is a sure sign that vacation time is getting near.

Got our excursion planning pamphlet/info from DCL in the mail the other day, too.

I know we're planning on getting to port by 11:00 am on cruise day, how about the rest of you???

Have $800 loaded onto our stateroom account. Massages, shore excursions, etc are booked. We'll be there by 10am!

Ready to go!

Between now and then, though, we're off to Vegas next weekend for a wedding, then a drive out to the Catskills for another wedding in late september, I also am becoming a US Citizen in that time, too. Then we have my father-in-law visiting as well. The time will fly!

Cant wait to meet everyone. Do we have a place/time decided upon to meet?

Our plan to get our passports the other day bombed. Should we go ahead with rushing them out? I'm convinced that it will just make everything easier. Anyone have opinions?

Hi Keef22
DH and I got passports because we also believe it will just make things easier. I sent for mine on Thursday,August 4 thru the postoffice and I received mine back today. I did not request, nor pay for an expedited return. DH sent for his the following Thursday the 11th I believe, so we expect his to be here next week.
Besides, with passports, it makes sense that we really should travel more to use them and utilize the price we paid, right:goodvibes?!

I've been checking stateroom availability at DCL site and there seem to be a good many rooms left especially in category 4. May we all be lucky enough to be upgraded.

I thought that I read somewhere that it takes about an hour, does that sound right? :confused3 I have been buyng little things for the boys and stocking them away for the trip(plane ride, and to keep them busy at dinner in Disney if need be) I found Pirate costumes today at Party city they were $5 but they didn't have all their sizes so I didn't get them :guilty: We are so looking forward to this trip, my dad will have just celebrated his 75th b-day and we'll have just had our 10 year anniv. on the 14th :sunny:

3Boysmomma, I did a search on Mapquest and it is about 63 mile from Lake Buena Vista(Disney area) to Port Canaveral, so an hour of travel time sounds about right.

We're getting to port early - staying at the Comfort Suites in Cocoa Beach - probably around 10:30-11:00. I don't think I will be able to stand just sitting around in a hotel room any later than that. I'll probably go to Mass on Saturday evening so I can be sure to get to Port early enough.

I'm looking forward to the Pirates IN the Caribbean party. It should be "cute" to see all the little ones in their pirate gear pirate: .

We'll have to make some type of plan so we can get a chance to meet the Diser's who will be on board.

I wish I could shout a resounding "YES", however I'm planning on going to Mass at 4:00pm so we can be sure to be at port early on Sunday morning and I know DH and our friends B & S won't be ready to eat until around 6:30 or 7:00. I will definately be on the lookout for you and your DW at Port. I will give you all a description of me and what I'll be wearing closer to that time, that way hopefully you'll be able to "recognize" me (it won't be difficult - I'm 6ft tall)and feel free to come up and say "HI". I will look forward to it. Maybe we could all get away for a few minutes on Sunday evening for a get together after meals and shows are out of the way, because I'm sure everyone will be busy before that.

Just a little Info on "our cruise". I've been checking out the DCL site to see just how crowded the cruise will be. As of yesterday, there are: 9 open category 4 rooms, 22 in category 5, Cat 6 and 7 have been GTY for about a month, 15 in category 8, 26 in category 9, 26 in category 10, category 11 has been GTY for about 2 weeks.
I know, by now you all think I am totally nuts, and have nothing better to do, but I just get curious about things like that.

Anybody else concerned? :guilty:

Henlady
09-09-2005, 02:30 PM
Hi Lissisuarez,
I know what you mean about being concerned about the possibility of hurricanes. But take comfort in knowing that the time "we" are all going is toward the end of the Hurricane season. Late August and September are usually highly active times for hurricanes. Disney Cruise Line as well as other cruise lines do not put their passangers in danger. If there is a chance of a hurricane, they will divert the scheduled cruise path to keep us out of harms way. We may end up with an altered schedule, but we'll still have fun. On the outside chance that there would be bad weather, we can all get together somewhere on the ship and keep each other company. Fear is easier to conquor in the company of others.

A favorite pastor once expressed that "worry is a non-productive and destructive pass time. If you do not have control over a situation, worry does not help or change things. If you do have control of a situation, don't worry about it, do something to change or rectify it". I have tried to follow this bit of advice and found that it is very true and comforting.

Hey, first time on a cruise, it's actually a honeymoon trip. :love2: We are doing the Land and Sea trip so we are flying in on 10-20-05. I went to WDW 2 yrs ago and had a great time. My future wife is a little worried if I have made the right choice. She has never been there been and I have been talking it up alot. She was thinking Vegas or something more adult driven, but she has all the Disney movies, so I hope she like it.

We are staying in Cat.7 somewhere, they said we would not know exactly till we board, which scares me. :confused3 Its been fun to read everything on these boards, and hope the weather works with us.

Hey,

1. Where did you find the web site saying how full the ship was?

2. What does 'GTY" stand for? I'm new, took me an hour to figure out "MNSHHP" was! Will there be any type of Halloween paty on the ship?

3. "full of questions aren't I?" :goodvibes Just one more i promise, for now. I thought I saw some where that "certified birth certificate" was amble. Did i read wrong?

I cant want to go, we just got our "GF resort" suite locked in I think according to our TA.

Dwingate:
There is no site that specifically states that a ship is full or not, you just have to do some research on your cruise and the different categories on the Disney Cruise Line Site. I started checking a month or so ago and kept a list of the rooms available and removed them as they "disappeared" from the DCL site.

GTY means a Guarantee stateroom. You book a specific category, but not a specific stateroom. If they "oversell" a category they will upgrade people who booked to a higher category. Say I book a GTY Category 6 and they oversell the number of category 6's, so either I or another cruiser will be given a category 3, 4, or 5 stateroom. You will definately have a stateroom, and the "lowest" category stateroom you are assigned will be the category you booked, you may get lucky and get bumped up to a higher category. Hopefully that isn't too confusing.

A certified birth certificate (one issued by the state you were born in) along with a state/government issued picture ID (ie...drivers license) is what is needed for the cruise. Make sure that the Birth Certificate is official, and not one issued by a hospital - those won't work. Also, from what I have read on these boards since your new wife probably won't have a drivers license issued in her married name yet, you may want to take along the marriage license if she was booked under her "married" name for the cruise.

DH & I got passports so I wouldn't have to worry about original birth certificates, etc....

Good luck with all those wedding plans.

Henlady,

Thanks for your reply, was just wondering.

On a personal note: This is both of ours second go around, and neither of us wish to have another big wedding, "been there, done that".

I have not been to WDW for two years and I'm really looking for to it. I'm self-employed and I'm driving my fiance crazy too with all my looking up stuff on the web. Everyday I'm telling her something new, and I just booked last week, in another month or so, she will be like "alright all ready".

I did not see your room number but would love to meet up with you and have a "coke" or something together if you would like. If not, that is fine as well. :teeth:

I know that Admiral Boom(a fellow Diser) and his DW would like to meet up also. We will definately have to get something planned.

DH is used to my planning after 30 years. :goodvibes He loves going to WDW and when I suggested a cruise he jumped at the idea. He's always asking "what's new on your boards". Actually, Disney World was the first major trip we took together(besides the honeymoon).

Hi everyone, I am so happy to have found this thread. i was wondering when one was being put out for our cruise. My DH-to be (29) and I (26) will be doing the land/sea combo. we are staying at CBR on the 20th for 3 nights and then we are off for our first ever cruise. We are secretly hoping for 2 things 1) to maybe get a little presetn from WDW, an upgrade?
2) a little souvenir (we want to try having kids right away)
Has anyone gotten docs yet? We booked from a TA back in March. We have cat.9 room 2070. We also have some spa treatments and the Palo Dinner (9 pm on day 3) and Brunch on Day 4.
Anyone suggest one spa treatment over another. I recently started doing spa experiences here in Baltimore, so I feel like a spoiled (poor though) brat.

Looking forward to maybe meeting you all.

Usually it'd have some type on it that said "Dis Tag" and the cruise or whatever and basically if you see it on your door, you sign it/write something witty, and then tag someone that hasnt yet been tagged by sticking it to their door. The last one tagged gets to keep it and should post a pic of it at the end of the cruise.

Admiral: - Its good to see you back. I know you've had a busy month. Hopefully all travel went well. I will definately participate in "DIS Tag".

SPZ:: If you have wedding pictures - definately bring them. I LOVE wedding pictures.

I was doing a little exploring on the DCL site and it looks like they are starting to disburse the rooms that were available yesterday. There were about 30 category 10 rooms available, now it is listed as GTY status. Maybe documents will come soon.

30 days from right now (11:50 am) we'll be anxiously waiting to board that ship.

Yes travel went well, sort of. Had some problems with the equipment in Cincinnati but we finally made it to Vegas albeit 3 hours late. Off to the Catskills next weekend then the cruise, then off to Texas for a week right after we get back. :earseek:

No docs here, yet. Not expecting them for another couple of weeks. Last cruise docs came about 3 weeks out.

Yeah the DIS tag was a fun thing we all did on the last cruise. Hope more people give me room numbers, though, or else we'll end up having 3 signatures on the card!

Hi guys, I am sorry to say that I won't be participating in the Tab Game or be able to meet with you all , since I will be too busy with my 4 kids and my nephew, none of them want to do the clubs, so mommy will be running around with all 5 of them at all times.

But is been defenelty great talking to you all in this board.

3 more weeks for us to go to WDW :cool1:

I "feel" for you lissisuarez. I'm sure you'll have a great time anyway. With a little luck maybe the little ones will meet some new friends at the pool and want to join them in the club and give mommy a little break to relax. I'll just keep on the lookout for the lady with all the kids and ask if it's you so I can at least say "HI".

Just a thought: If you would like to participate in the "Dis Tag", when I get the "Tag" I'll pass it on to you, you can sign it and put it back on your door and I'll check for it later in the day and pass it on for you. That way you can still participate without the "worry" of having to pass it on. Let me know.

Admiral Boom, Will we have an open view or one behind a plexiglass wall, Hope we dont, not to jink myself, but i dont think i will like that.

Henlady, I dont know how we will meet up but would love to see you all the first night. You tell me how and we will be there. We are having a late dinner seating, we are night owls. :goodvibes

NOTE: I thought it was a plexiglass wall like a big top to bottom window. Just bottom of railing covered by metal or plexiglass. Some said it was a problem to seat and see but i did not pay for it anyway. :cool1:

Admiral Boom, Will we have an open view or one behind a plexiglass wall, Hope we dont, not to jink myself, but i dont think i will like that.

Alright, there are three types of verandahs:

SOLID WALL verandahs vs PLEXIGLASS verandahs:
http://*******.com/8qnp4

Navigators verandahs:
http://*******.com/bhwm4

As you can see, you are never (totally) enclosed, so fear not. Your verandah will be like the top picture with the solid metal wall.

DH, DD and myself are planning on the Stingray Encounter too! Had it booked last year at Nassua and b/c of the hurricanes the rays were in shelters. :(
Prefer to do this at CC since the time is much less than 4-5 off ship in Nassua and a little cheaper too. We plan to book on Sunday, Oct 2nd asap. Not sure of time yet. 11A sounds like lunch time for DH and DD. Me, I could wait to eat.
As soon as we and my parents get our docs, I will post the room numbers. We have 7035, parents are on Cat 12 gty.

so many honeymoons and anniversaries! we're getting married the night before the cruise -- oct. 22. we're not planning any excursions (save palo, of course) just yet ... though we might if there's something we're desperate to do. i was recently offered a job at turner broadcasting/entertainment in atlanta and moved down here three weeks ago.

we've been so stressed from the move, the job, and the wedding that all we want to do is relax with each other and make no plans. we're both so excited about the moment when we're sitting on the plane together, knowing that we don't have to worry about *anything* except for what to eat... ha!

so looking forward to seeing you all. i'd love to be a part of the tag game. we still don't have a room number, so i'm assuming we won't be upgraded. i definitely don't mind. i just want to feel the sand in between my toes.

Hi All.
I was able to book Castaway Ray's Stingray excursion this morning for the 11:00 am time slot on Castaway Cay day. DF Sue and I will be doing this.
DH is a little chicken I think - He just wants to sit on the beach in the sun all day. This is the only excursion I have planned. The only other definate things I want to do is the Martini tasting and the Wine tasting. Other than those, everything else is "up in the air" - you know, just go with the flow.

Here is a description posted by "JSME" elsewhere on the cruise thread. Hope it helps:

located in Diversions. For us it was available all day from 12-12 every day.

You drank them in a specail order which is NOT the order they are placed on the mat.

The martini tasting was fun. You have 5 different to taste in small martini glasses. You still get plenty and it was well worth the $15.
You are to drink them in a special order, not the way they sit on your mat. The first one is a melontini. Very strong and sweet. It is the first one on your mat. Then you skip the next and go to the third one, which is a Blue Baracuda. I do not think it was as strong but just as sweet. Then you go back to the second one. It is a citrus martini. Sorry I can not remember the names of the next ones. After the first two I could hardly walk. I liked this one the best. The next was the 5th on the mat and it was a champagne and strawberry martini. The last was a chocolate martini which is the fourth on your mat. It was a good dessert martini. Very nice and all very presented great.

This is from a cruise report I did on another site. Hope this helps you out. Diversions has a snack buffet. I highly suggest you fix a nice plate prior to the tasting. I would drink a little and eat at little.

OK Admiral - Since you've been on the "boat" ;) before, where is a good place for everyone to meet once on the ship. Time and place are not a problem for us, since we don't have any little ones to contend with.

As I posted, I booked for 11 for the stingray excursion. DF Sue was going to try to book last night, so if 11 was filled up, we'll be switching to some other time.

Uhhh - all a question of timing. It's so difficult to suggest a time because people have shore excursions, meals, kids, etc, and as such there won't be one *good* time in which to meet. Doing it on the first day, though, is quite popular and would facilitate our game of DIS TAG a lot more since those that don't have room numbers will now know what they are and can distribute them. Lots of good places to meet, though.

Alright, here we go, I'll be proactive and suggest a date/time/place and you all can shoot it to pieces if you like. :rotfl2:

What if we meet at 3:00pm BEFORE the safety drill, and sail away party. Let's say, the secret "deck 7" verandah. Go to deck 7 and walk all the way back and then out the door that is there. I'll have copies of the room list as it stands the day before we leave, so people can write in room numbers and socialize a bit. Thoughts, concerns?

DW and I will also be wearing red ball caps when checking in and in line, so you will be able to spot us! :smooth:

I am so excited. This will be my first cruise on DCL and first cruise since my senior trip in high school. My DH has never sailed, which is why I booked us a Cat 7 for the first one. Wanted a bit more space and a verandah since we'll have to spend some time in there for DD's naps, etc.

You'll recognize us at boarding by finding the 3' foot tall, curly haired 3 year old with her favorite bunny running around because she will have been cooped up in our van for 2 days! We leave at 5am on Saturday morning and will pull in to Port Canaveral between 11am and 1pm on Sunday.

SPZ Curly - No upgrade here, but I am content with what we have, but if DCL would like to use up a couple of those category 4 staterooms that are open, I wouldn't complain if they gave us and DF's a couple. I think that would be good PR on Disney's part.

DWingate - Don't worry you'll get your Docs. They really are nothing special. (hehe). But then again, maybe the dog (or cat) got them. Or the neighbors dog got them.
Or the big hairy ape guy from Universal studios is holding them hostage. :scared1:
Maybe the wife-to-be is hiding them from you just to make you sweat a little (did you do everything she has asked you lately - think about it) :rolleyes2 . Or maybe the UPS guy got hijacked by the DHL guy and he has them. Aren't you staying near Keef22? They could have sent yours to him by mistake. Just a few little scenarios to think about.

Our room number according to the website -- still waiting on the docs -- is 1038. Directly underneath the number it says "Category #12 Standard Inside State" ... but after looking up the number on the deck plan, it looks as though 1038 is Cat 9, Deluxe Ocean View. So which is which? Could anyone help us out?? It's fine if we didn't get an upgrade, but I want to know if we did... before we get really super excited.

Yes, you got an upgrade. When DCL hands out upgrades they ONLY CHANGE the room number, NOT the "verbal" category that you have booked. Therefore, you must be vigilant and check that the room number assigned is indeed the category that you have booked. Also, don't forget, there aren't even any cat 12 rooms *on* deck 1. You will have two small portholes as opposed to one large one, however an upgrade is an upgrade. More room, split baths, etc. Plus you will be nice and close to the gangways when we stop! I'll add you to the room list tomorrow when I get to the office. No time right now - Family Guy is on in 10 minutes :)

Congrats on the upgrade Kristen.

Nice door sign Admiral. I've been working on mine for a while. We'll see how it turns out.

I started ironing some of DH's shirts that he's taking along, don't want to have to spend the night before ironing for 2 hours . I'm gonna try the tip someone else posted on the boards about placing each shirt in a dry cleaners bag before putting it in the garment bag - supposedly it keeps the wrinkles to a minimum, so we'll give it a try.

Yes. Stupid field goals. I can't remember the last time we lost to Minnesota - I think it was at least 10 years ago, if not more. I want to say maybe even the 80's. If you were by Jackson, you were about 20 minutes from me. I live on the west side of Ann Arbor very close to Dexter.

We finally got ours; but since we're DVCers and using points (I know, I know, "don't do that! you're wasting money!") I'm interested to know what I should put on the sheets to give the folks in the Bahamas.

What do I put for travel agent? Since we're not really staying the night, do we have to mark what our accomodations are? :confused3

If someone could PM me and help me out with some of this stuff, I'd appreciate it! I just want to be able to move quickly through the line when we get to Port Canaveral. I've always been extremely careful to have as much ready to go as possible so that I'm not holding up a long line of people when I get to the front...

Yippee on getting your docs Keef22. We got ours filled out over the weekend. Thanks Admiral - was wondering what to put in for the "nights stay" part. I also used DCL so I put Magical Cruise Co, only in the docs booklet it had Lake Buena Vista for the address so I used that. If it's wrong I'll just fill out another one at port, no biggie.

DF Sue and I are booked for the 11:00 Castaway Ray Stingray Excursion. Anyone joining us?

DH, DD and I are doing the Stingrays at 9A. Tried to change to 10A online but 9&10 are not available right now. May be able to change once onboard. Just afraid we may not have it together to make it on time by 9 and 11 too close to chow time for DH & DD.

My parents, B&M received their docs last Fri, just 'forgot' to inform me. They would like to do the dis tag too and are in room 2045. DM is fine w/that. Felt for first cruise and concerns about possible sea sickness being on a lower deck may help.

Hi everyone I have two questions. First, we are not planning on getting off the boat in Nassau, do we still have to fill out the Bahama immigration form? And second, which I think I will call DCL tommorow regarding is, the form in our documents asking about minors travelling with you. Two of our boys are listed in our cabin, the 3rd with my parents. He, of course, will still be with us so technically they are not responsible for him but I don't want to get to the Port on Sunday and find that we still needed to have the form notarized for my parents to have him in their cabin. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Regarding the Bahamas Immigration form, I would imagine that even if you aren't getting off the ship at Nassau, you are technically still in the Bahamas so you would most likely need to complete it. Not sure about the form for "Minors" hopefully someone else can help in that department.

Well, the time is getting closer. To all of you who are departing during the early part of the week, have a very safe and "wonder"ful trip. See you on Sunday.

Okay, you all now know that I'm nervous...

No trip insurance here. I may be in for a rude awakening; and I know that Sunday is still 5 days away BUT...

Does anyone have experience with weather issues? What might we expect if...

1) The storm is south of the port and we can board the ship; but can't go south to Nassau and Castaway Cay?

2) The weather in port is too bad and we can't board the ship; but it is clearing up in time for a later boarding time?

3) The whole thing is a train wreck and we can't do any cruising at all?

Will DCL offer other options even though I know they're not officially required to do so?

If nothing else, this gives me something to keep my mind off the fact that we're not packed yet!! :rotfl:

Hi Keef22:
I can't answer all of your questions, but from the looks of the weather map from NOAA, the storm will be south of Port Canaveral at 2am Sunday morning so hopefully by the time we sail, it may be further out to sea. The DCL cruse info states that they may change itineraries, so ports of call could be different. We'll just have to keep our fingers crossed and say a little prayer that our trip goes off without a hitch. Luckily, we did purchase travel ins.
I am almost packed. I have all the clothes pressed and/or layed out, and all the miscellaneous stuff gathered up. Just have to place it into the suitcases.
We leave on Friday and arrive in Cocoa Beach on Saturday.
Don't worry - Be happy!! :sunny: Things will work out and whatever happens we'll all have a great time.

I'm not worrying now/yet about the hurricane. That has been put off by household problems - had to have the basement drain unplugged because of tree roots in the outside tile drain, electrical work to replace the meter yesterday, then when that was being done the electricians evidently bumped or jarred the cold water pipe to the kitchen sink, causing a major leak, so now we have to have a plumber come today to redo that. Hopefully that is the end of it.

This is all DF Barry's fault (traveling with us) He has been thru something like 5 hurricanes and evacuated for either 2 or 3 times because of them. So its all his fault!! :goodvibes

Well Kris, I am so glad this is someone else's fault b/c I was beginning to think we are the jinx on this one. The end of last September, we had this same 4 day cruise. Flew into Tampa on Saturday, same as now. Spent Sunday, boarding day, in my parents house without electricity and 60-70 mile an hour winds. So the 4 day turned into 3 days, no CC b/c of previous hurricane damage. Plus, we had to rent a car one-way to drive to Ft Lauderdale and board the ship there b/c we were departing at Port Canaveral.
This was the whole reason we rebooked, and a full month later to hopefully avoid the same scenario.

Right now with the projected course going between both ports, I am not certain they would try to board Sunday at either port. i.e., we could be waiting to board until Monday like last year. AAAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!

I trying not to be negative or worry too much yet, so all we can do is hope this takes a different course or better yet, falls apart.

Dwingate: Congrats on the marriage. May you have a lifetime of bliss.

Based on our experience last year here is what I can add. If they can not do Nassau or CC, they may do a different port (did Charleston SC once last year during a hurricane, probably not an option now with projected course). Or, more day(s) at sea.
Second question is partly answered in my previous post. They could keep our port but a day later or change port and a day later. Then you get partial reimbursement or can cancel or change to future date. Can't say for sure what it was last year b/c we used DVC points and we were able to use those towards this cruise.
I believe if DVC cancels, you are entitled to a full reimbursement or placing the cruise towards a future date.

Hope this helps some.
Gayle

Actually, Gayle, that does calm my fears a little. The main reason we didn't buy insurance is that we ARE using DVC points.

It seems Admiral Boom is having some technical difficulties, so He e-mailed me and asked that I post the following:

3boysmomma: Yes - You have to fill out the Nassau form. No exceptions. Best to call DCL on the issue with
your kids in your parents' cabin. I don't believe you will have a problem but better safe than sorry.

Fantasmiclush: Welcome! Are you playing tag?

Keef22: Your concerns are valid ones, however I don't believe we have anything to really worry about. This
is precisely why, though, you should fly in early (where possible)! In the past DCL has done a "cruise to
nowhere" where every day is a day at sea. I can't remember if they offered any compensation on this,
however looking at Monday's schedule for Nassau and Tuesday's schedule for the Abacao Islands (castaway cay)
it looks to be sunny and partly cloudy! I would honestly say the worst thing that would happen is that we
would leave later than planned. Sofar they still think the storm is going to run south of port (by about
3.5 hour drive) through Ft. Laud/Miami area so I'm guessing we'll just have rain. However, to cut over to
Nassau, I dunno. So, we may be delayed, the captain may opt to do day 1 as a day at sea, then nassau, then
cc, then back to PC. Time will tell. I am 99.9% sure that they will NOT scrub the trip though. As my
travel agent says, the best place to be in a hurricane is a cruise ship - you just sail away from it.

Dwingate: Ohhh bee-have! :)

Henlady: Yep. Promenade sounds good, however it will be a little busier. No worries though!!

Looking forward to seeing everyone Sunday! Many greetings,

Admiral Boom.

Thanks Kris for forwarding the post from the Admiral. I was beginning to think he was oot again. Really like your calm, planned out thinking right now Admiral and hope you are correct. My only concern is the outer bands of the hurricane and winds keeping them from docking at PC Sunday morn. I really do not want another 3 day cruise. Just not engh time.

We will all know more in a day or two. Happy and safe travels to all going down early.

Hi Everyone! I must say I feel as though I've had the wind knocked out of my sails because of Wilma. I'm trying to keep my head up and my fingers crossed. We leave early am tomorrow for Disney World. Hope to see everyone and have a good laugh over our Wilma "scare"! Cathy

:crazy2: :headache: :faint: Well, AMTRAK just called and informed us that all trains to Florida on Friday/Saturday have been cancelled. So instead of sitting back and relaxing in our roomette on the AutoTrain, we are now driving 18 hours. I AM NOT HAPPY. Anyway hopefully see you all on Sunday.

Kris,
Sorry to hear you have to make that drive now. :bitelip: That will surely make you all more tired when you arrive. Are you leaving Friday? Be sure to take the toll free number with you to call DCL and find out if there are changes to the port and or time. I found this note taken in part out of the Hurr Wilma now Cat 5 thread:

Our friends will be on the Sunday Wonder, and DCL even told them TODAY that depending where the hurricane heads, their departure could be diverted to the port in Tampa.

See you Sunday.........providing we get our flight in on Saturday.

Well we are packed and ready to go, I think,LOL. Our flight leaves first thing in the moring, so this will be my last post till we meet. Sorry about your train ride, hate to say but that sucks. DW is scared to death, I told her she was with me and God so it was well under control and not to worry.

Thought of the day: Only worry about something you can control (hint: nothing), let God handle everything else.

See you there,
Peace

I'm still on vacation next week. :umbrella:

I'm still going to make this the best vacation ever.

I'm still here, too. We're still leaving early Saturday morning to start our drive down. I haven't started packing yet, but keep thinking about packing :rolleyes1 . Now that the Cards are out of the playoffs, I won't have a ball game to watch tonight. :sad1: So plenty of time to pack!

See everyone there! My DD3 is so excited. She now says she's going on the "Cinderella" Boat, not the Mickey Boat. princess:

Keef22: ditto to all your Wonderfully put statements!
DH came home from business trip last night and I gave him the status report. Did not worry him while gone. His comment, besides 'not again', "I don't want to deal with deciding what to use those DVC points on they give us back again" (This of course only if we are delayed a day. NOT going to happen!) Keeping a positive attitude. If we at least get a day at CC this time, it will be a better trip than last year. :goodvibes

Sam'sMom: If I did not at least have most of the clothes and accessories out ready to pack, I would be a basketcase by now. :hyper: More power to ya.
Sorry about your Cards. Though we are only 45min from Chicago, I am not following the series. Cubs fan here and many White Sox fans are nasty, esp towards Cubs fans.

My DD5.5 thinks this is more about the princesses too. Besides, Mickey is a boy and she does not like most boys. Minnie is fine.

I got the suitcases out a while back, just haven't put anything in them. Tonight for sure. We travel by car/van a lot all summer long and I pack for the three of us for a weekend in about 25 minutes. This is going to take longer, but I'm guessing less than 24 hours, I hope! :earseek:

Hopefully we can get our "princesses" together. Although DD3 is only 3, she loves to play with the older girls. Her closest cousin is 5 and a half, and they get along great!

Hi everyone! Just got back to work from picking up the travelers checks. I am adjusting to my "new" travel status. I still am not happy with it, but oh well, we're still going. Yes things do keep looking better for getting out on Sunday - hopefully Disney feels the same way. I was telling the lady at AAA about our dilema while signing the Trav. cks, and she was not understanding at all. Stated "they probably won't sail so you better keep checking."(hurumph) I am not fond of negative people. Disney called my home this morning to make sure they had my cel phone number so they could get in touch with us in case of changes. I had already called yesterday and had it put on my records. Oh well. Have everything ready to pack, just gotta throw it in the suitcases and throw them into the car. We're off at 8:00 am tomorrow morning, hoping to still be able to stay over in Cocoa Beach on Saturday night. I have Shirleys (The perfect Gift) phone number, so I'll check in with her to see how things are going in Cocoa Beach/Port Canaveral area. You all have a safe trip and we WILL see you on the ship on Sunday - 3:00.

Kris :wave2:

less than 1 day till we leave for our 30th Anniversary Tour - 4 nights on the Wonder and 3 nights at PO-R

call us crazy, but we are in SW florida and usually we are called to evacuate for anything Category 2 storm or more, so we decided to leave for the Boardwalk on Fri-Sat and then the Wonder on Sunday. I got the "secret porthole" room 5520!!! It will be me, divorced mom with 3 of my kids boy 9, boy 5, girl almost 3 in November.

Hope to have a great time on the cruise and at the park. The kids are excited!

Welcome Christine and kids. Well, this sure is one one to stay out of harms way. And the secret porthole at the last minute too.
Some of the posters here are already down for land part of vacation before the cruise. The rest of us leave Sat morn. If you get a chance we are all meeting at 3P on the secret verandah Deck 7.
Have a safe journey to WDW and the Port. Hope your house is without damage when you return.
Hope to see you there,
Gayle

The SPR used to be our room until we gave it up! We're now in the secret verandah room 7620!!

DW and I arrived at the Port this morning and things are overcast here.

Here's a picture of the Disney Magic that we drove by about 20 minutes ago. :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

See everyone tomorrow @ deck 7 secret verandah @ 3pm or Promenade Lounge if it rains.

We're going to grills for dinner tonight at around 4pm to see the Magic off and we'll be at the port first thing in the morning. We'll both we wearing red baseball caps. I also forgot to print the damned room list off so I wrote everyone's rooms on the back of the DISTag sign. It's crooked, but hey,it works. :)

Oh by the way, this is Admiral Boom :rotfl:

See everyone tomorrow.

Hey Admiral Boom! You guys were on the bridge tour with us! And I figured out that you weren't next door to us when I saw a couple with a 1 year old go into 7620.

We had a blast and are planning to take another cruise for our 10th anniversary next year, probably longer and without our daughter. She had a great time. Pics are at photos.samanthawhitworth.com.

Sorry I didn't formally meet anyone. Turned out to be crazier than expected when we boarded and had to get DD and DH down for a nap!

I dropped the door tag off at 3boysmomma on Wednesday night before the 8:30 show.

See ya,

Okay, I got the TAG, and thank you for remembering us and adding us to the list. We are so sorry that we did not get to meet you all. I have the pic, and should be posting it soon for you all, please be patient, I am not very camera/computer literate.
I did talk to several cruisers that met you, and all were so happy that the group and discussion forum was formed.

Chris and I had the greatest time, wish it were not so rocky and that castaway cay was more up to par (disney should have compensated somehow)
But we are very happy and should have the photo up soon!

Thanks,
Michelle Vance!!
