There are so many of us coming back to WISH, and others that have been strong on WISH, how about we set up our own personal challenges? Whatever you think you need, set the goal to accomplish it, cheat free for 100 days.

Ok, McDonalds is my downfall, I have decided to skip eating at Mcdonalds for 100 days. That is my challenge. tommorow is day 1 for me, since I had some today  (Not day 1 for healthy lifestyle, that I started today and will not have another day 1 again! but this is for the cheat free challenge)

Who's up for joining me on their own challenge?

I like the way you think! I'm gonna copy cat & say I won't eat McDonalds for 100 days too.

(Gotta get out the calendar to see what date that brings me to! ;))

ETA - Looks like April 10th....easy to remember...I can celebrate the end of tax season with McDonalds (if I still want it)!

I think I'll use soda as my cheat free, because I'm weak when it comes to pop. Looks like I'll be sticking to water, juice, or milk. :D God luck to everyone on there goals!!!

I'll join up. I love challenges. I just have to figure out what I am willing to give up for 100 days. I want it to be something meaningful that will help with my weight loss goal but not so unreachably difficult that I will get frustrated and cheat. Let me think about this for a bit and I'll be back to post what I'm giving up for 100 days.

What a great challenge idea!!!!!

Edited to add: since we're starting today, I had better make up my mind quick!

Edited edited to add: I thought about it and I will start mine tomorrow. It's too scary to think about it today! Starting tomorrow I will not have any sugar free chocolates for 100 days. Oh, just saying it gives me the shivers! This will include Atkins Endulge bars and any sugar free chocolates I might run across in the stores/malls. This is a hard one because I have come to rely on these for my "dessert" each evening. But when I think about the period when I was a big loser, I didn't eat these things so there may be some connection I just don't want to admit. Okay, I said it. This evening I'll have my regular portion of sugar free candy that I paid a pretty penny for but after that I'm giving it to DH to finish. I'm going to need all the support I can get between this challenge and the Lose 5 challenge so I hope we will be here for each other! As my three year old niece would say, "This is too scarry!!!!!"!! :earboy2:

I make the promise, starting tomorrow, no McDonalds or pop for 100 days. Are we going to check in every day or only check in when we fall off the wagon?

PRINCESS VIJA
01-04-2005, 07:11 AM
Here we go guys!!! Lets check in as often as we can, I plan to do it daily, as I plan to grab my clippie! Remember to add your clippie if you want, the directions were on this thread...

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=454614

I am going to make a list later of everyones goals, please check that it is accurate. I am SOOOOOO excited about this! Thanks for joining me guys. I love being part of a group again!

Snowball22, I know you can do this, if I can skip McDonalds for 100 days ANYONE can! Confession of a McDonalds junkie.... There would be days I would eat McDonalds 3 X a day! :earseek: I would eat at least 1 meal daily there. Pretty pathetic. I am so excited about this. I know I can do it, but the difference is I WANT to do it, and I know that with this group of encouragers, it WILL happen! :cool1:

Desiree
01-04-2005, 07:47 AM
Cool deal.. I'll start my clippie over! Thanks for starting this challenge! This should be the right motivation I need to stay on target and get started!

:cool1: I am happy for you Vija! In case you forgot [and for those that might have never known]. I created this 100 day challenge quite while back as encouragement for Vija during one of her downfalls. I'm so happy to see that you are turning back to it again and using it in a way that you feel you can be succesful with it! :D

Another suggestion Vija. How about you take everyday what you would have spent on that McDonalds food [I wouldn imagine it would have to be at least $5 a day] and put that money asside. After 100 days you will have a real nice chunk of money to put asside for your WDW marathon trip. Its money that would have been spent foolishly on McD's food anyway so you might as well put it towards this goal to reward yourself! Start an ING account and earn great interest [plus it is so easy to transfer the money into the account on a regular basis].

I'll be cheering you on! :cheer2:

Jody, a good friend never forgets!!! I will be forever gratefull for your continued friendship and support, and especially your GREAT ideas!!!! :cool1: I think that is an awesome suggestion and I will put that money toward my marathon trip. $5 for today!

Okay, guys, I am starting this challenge today (ending on April 11) but I will not start actually counting my days until after tomorrow because right now I've bot 99 cheat free days under my belt and if I can get through tomorrow I will have 400 cheat free days since I started South Beach! Woohoo!!!

Thanks so much for this challenge. I can feel the sweats starting already just thinking about giving up my sugar free chocolate but if you guys can do it, then dang it, so can I! I will be strong!!!

Stay away from me you evil chocolate candies! :earseek:

I'm excited too! I added day 2 to mine! Looking forward to this and this will give me the motivation and willpower I need to stay far far away from all those bad junk food cravings!

Best of luck to everyone!

I'm doing okay. Tomorrow when my clippie would otherwise roll over to Day 1, I will change it to Day 2. I usually get through an entire day and then the next day claim the cheat free clippie just so there's no chance of me cheating after I've claimed it.

Last night was hard for me. Real hard. The sugar free chocolate candies were calling me LOUDLY! I resisted even though it wasn't easy. Knowing you guys are doing this with me makes it a little bit easier. I hope everyone has a great cheat free Wednesday! :flower:

Desiree, I love your excitement too! This will be great together!

ZerasPride, Hang in there! We are all so proud of your previous 400 cheat free days! I know that you can do this too. I can appreciate the calling of the food though. I have a McDonalds that is only about 1/4 of a mile from my house. And I pass it on my daily walk. Very frustrating, but I say that I can do this and I will!

sarahsmom73, congrats to you! Why don't you grab and display your clippie? It would be fun to see the numbers climb on the clippie while the numbers fall on the scale!

I'm still hanging in there, this will be such a good thing for me. I told my DH all about this and he is so proud of me, that feels great!

I will have no more low calorie chips for the next 100 days.

Just wanted to do a little brag!! I actually went through the drive through at McD's yesterday for the kids and didn't get anything for myself! I didn't even steal a fry!! I kept telling myself that all the same stuff will still be there in April, if I still want it!! :cool1:

Kim - what a good job you did in resisting the McD's. I find that the french fries always smell so good but they usually don't taste as good as you expect and that helps resist them too.

It's hard for me giving up my chocolates, especially seeing hubby eat them. That's painful. I did have 1/2 cup of no sugar added ice cream for my dessert last night but it's just not the same. I am hanging in there though and it helps to know you guys are doing the same!

I have been naughty :( I forget to check in.

Ok I have been pop/soda free since I started, I think this is day 5 or 6, can't count anymore but I plan on my 100 days being over on tax day, just makes it easier to remember and it that is longer than 100 days so be it.

Also I have NOT been cheat free on the candy part. Don't know if this is TMI but it is TOM and well I have had the cravings. Good news is that I have only wanted one of those mini Hershey special dark pieces a day and that kills it so that is all I have had.

So I am pop cheat free but not candy. You can edit the candy out if you want. I will try to start a new thing each month, think that will be easier for me. Pop in January, Candy in Feb and then so on and so forth.

Good job everyone on their success so far

I'm must checking in. This giving up the chocolate thing is hard. Very hard. I'm doing it. Someone gave me a recipe for sugar free min-cheesecakes and I made them the other day. I had one last night but I think I did something wrong. It turned out way too thick but tastes okay, I guess.

I hope everyone has a great cheat free Saturday. Let's stay away from the McD's, chocolate, salt, chips, pop and other junk. We can do it!!! :cool1:

Everyone is doing great! I appreciate the encouragement to stay strong. We can do this. It's just much fun to turn over that cheat free bear everyday! Welcome Aspen! Your updated in the challenge list, way to go to join us in this challenge!

thanks Kim, it feels good to pass by the big old "M". Today was not so nice.... we were heading home from taking off 2 days and going to a waterpark in the Wisconsin Dells. DH, DS and I got subway but DD wanted McDonalds. I knew she wouldn't eat subway so we drove through McDonalds for her. Ds wanted fries with his sub. I had to actually handle his fries and pass them back to him :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: I told DH that was cruel and unnusual punishment! As soon as I got those things (which btw are my FAVORITE thing at McDonalds), I quickly wiped my hands on my pants to not have any residual. I can't believe THAT test I went through! :faint:

ZerasPride, I know what you mean about changing the day, I have missed changing some days, so when I get to add a bunch of days, it is really fun! I haven't changed mine yet, I wanted to fly onto WISH and read how everyone is doing!

starting today 1/16 no mcdonalds for 100 days..Ohhhh boy I can do this...If I get a craving really bad I'll be on here yelling for help :cool1: o.k. so if i added right that is april 25th.oh-oh my son thinks that means him no mcdonalds for a 100 days too! But you know he don't need it either so I will try to hold him off too. although when he gets that little lip out and them sad eyes I melt! But i guess on those days I can let him have that and I'll have subway. But the rule here is fast food only once a week so maybe I can get him to forget what week it is. Not. The kid is way to smart for that. Any suggestions? This is so great I love a challenge. Wow and I just realized that is about a month before our disney trip too!! UGH...I don't want to post this....but I had McDonalds this past week. I was on travel for work & didn't have much time in the airport...and I ate McD's. MAN...it's so depressing.

I think I can actually do that. 100 days takes me right up to our trip to WDW on 3/26. I am in for 100 days cheat free. But there is no one particular thing that I cheat with. I am going to strive to go 100 days without going over my WW points. That is a huge challenge for me.

DH and I even got into a little tiff the other day over it until I realized (and contritely apologized) and remembered that I am on this challenge and I don't want to have to not turn over my cheat free bear so DH saved me from myself (ha). I can make it until April 11th! We can all make it our 100 days!!!! :)

it's only been 12 days and no Mcdonalds. I know i can do this! But boy do I miss those fries! My DS has been great about it. He's a big Mcdonalds fan And I don't want him to suffer to much for me so i let my husband take him last night while I stayed home and had my salad. But he was so sweet he brought home his toy and said here mommy this is for you. I know you can't have the food so i want you to have my toy. Awwww so I told him I would share it with him. With April 10th set as the 100 day mark...is anyone else thinking how great it will be to eat what we're giving up? Am I nuts to daydream about homemade fries and yeast rolls? Last night I PROMISE YOU...I had a dream that I was sooo thirsty and saw a nice ice cold coke on the counter...ya know the kind dripping with sweat...I just picked it up and too 3 strong swigs of it...and said, "AAAHHH" then right next to it was a moist ooey gooey chocolate chip filled brownie...I broke it into fourths and plunged one into my mouth...then PANIC :earseek: I've got to weigh when I wake up out of this dream...that coke and brownie are going to shoot my scales up two pounds...boy then they just didn't taste as good. I really had to remind myself it was a dream and I didn't have those the night before...

My own dreams are trying to sabotage me! AAARGGH!

Tara, you are so funny! I had a dream last week that I ate all kinds of carby foods like cupcakes, ding dongs and things like that. When I first woke up and was still groggy, thinking it was real, know what the first thing is that I thought? I thought how am I going to tell my WISH friends? You guys really do help keep me on track.

I have a drawer full of Atkins Endulge bars (one of the things I'm giving up) in a kitchen drawer and they have called my name more than one time since we started. I am in the process of reading Dr. Phil's book and it's awesome with helping me deal with the emotional side of why I feel like I need the bad stuff and it's helping me a lot. Anyway, just wanted you to know that you are not alone in thinking about the stuff we have given up. I am just so impressed with everyone involved in this challenge.

We can do this!

Princess Vija - thanks for the encouragement. This is truly hard but these challenges keep me focused and determined!

Tara,

Yesterday I was at work and one of the girls and I could not stop talking about a Hostess cherry pie (my absolute favorite thing). I have given up sweets and carbs since I am on Atkins and it was so hard not to goto the store after work and pick up a cherry pie. I have only been in for this challenge for 8 days but, I have not cheated once.

Hi guys! I am doing great with McDonalds. Still hanging in there. BUT.... I want to add on another challenge for myself. Starting today I am going to do 100 days of staying on points target with WW. I can't believe I am actually writing that! :earboy2: , but it is something I want to do as well, OK, NEED to do! LOL! So, wish me luck and as they say in Peter Pan...

Here we GO! and my favorite part... All you need is faith, trust and pixie dust! So, if anyone can send some pixie dust my way, I would really appreciate it! :wizard: This is going to be VERY hard challenge for me, but I want to do it! If I calculated the days right, it takes me to may 12. Here's to making the most of the next 100 days! :hourglass

Princess Vija - I am so impressed with your commitment and adding an additional element to your challenge is just awesome! I want to add my no sugar added ice cream to the challenge. I know I should, I just can't bring myself to do it! It's hard enough for me to give up my chocolates but . . . I'm making excuses. I'll think aboutit for a day or two and make a decision. You are really inspiring me to add this other food demon to the list of stuff I'm not allowing myself to have. I know the ice cream is holding me back - I just know it. Okay, off to think on this one some more.

Thanks ZerasPride! I unfortunately didn't get my act together yesterday and ate WAY too much. I definetely am a stress eater and between school for me, and looking at buying a house, my stress load is over the top!

What I learned from yesterday is that I definetely need a plan for the day. I went in without really planning anything. By doing that, I ate at least 8 points if not more of chips by midday (including lunch) and that set me up for failure because I didn't have enough points left for a decent dinner. Also I didn't exercise in the morning and boy was I crabby for the entire morning, and I didn't feel as energized. I have been exercising Mon-Friday pretty much since January and I really noticed a difference yesterday when I didn't exercise, so I can tell that my body already is wanting the exercise. :cheer2: Too reafirm that, I just exercised this morning and I feel really great! Much better mental attitude and feel just "better".

So, starting today I am going to be in the points range for WW for 100 days AND to top that off, I am NOT going on the scale for 100 days. I want to really focus more on how I feel rather than the numbers. So, here goes!

Any pixie dust for me??? I sure could use some!

Hi, Princess Vija!! How are you doing? How did things go this weekend? Are you doing okay with your WW points? I hope you got the chance to plan your meals for today, since that will make it easier for you!
I have found so many ways to make the most of my points, and wanted to encourage you and anyone else (so that when I am feeling weak, I can come back here and remember some strategies, too :flower: )
1. Keep a bottle of water in the fridge at all times. Keep another in my car. Take a sip whenever I think of it.
2. Made the diet coke chicken last night in 3 point portions on top of broccoli in 5 containers in my fridge -- lunches or dinners throughout the week when I don't have time to cook and would otherwise eat something spontaneously that I might regret later.
3. Keep cooked broccoli or cauliflower or green beans in the fridge for munching on, especially while cooking.
4. Made chili flavored cauliflower poppers and am now addicted
5. sugarless gum
6. tootsie pops
7. crystal light on the go in a bottled water
How many days left on this challenge? I have 21 days done!

Thanks Jody!!! I appreciate you peeking in on me! :cool1:

keenercam, thanks for the encouragement and great ideas! I finally got underway on Saturday. It wasn't easy, but I did it! I feel terrific about it. Those are some really great strategies! I love the cola chicken. very good.

People are at different stages with the 100 days, so I can't really say when the challenge is over, because each person is at a different spot.

Congrats to you for doing so good and staying within points. You inspired me to add on this challenge and I thank you! :sunny:

Hi, Princess Vija! I just wanted to check in and see how you are doing. As you can see, I am only 22 days cheat free (so a bit behind you), but wanted to encourage you on your second challenge of staying within WW points. It is so awesome that you took on another challenge! I hope it went well yesterday! Good for you!

Hi, everyone! Just checking in. I am at 32 days and have been within my WW points every day, though I have also been using earned activity points if I need them (I actually read that that is what I should be doing).

I'm checking with you all. Even though I've been checking in everyday, I have been thinking of you all and our challenge. I can't stand to let a day go by and not be able to change my cheat free clippe! I guess I'm stubborn that way. So far so good. I told you guys these challenges really keep me focused.

I joined Oprah's boot camp challenge that started this past Monday. I have lost 6 pounds in a week! I hope you all have a great week as go into the last week of February. Please everyone stay strong. We can make it to April!

Hi everyone!

Sorry I haven't been checking in as much. School has just been sending me over the edge, and the fact that we bought a house which is soooo awesome, is addding stress and unfortunately I've been stress eating. So I have avoided WISH, but I have stayed true to my McDonalds goal! I am at 52 days and I am so proud of myself. I need to recommit to the 100 days of WW points, and that starts today!

Hope everyone is doing well!

YOU GO GIRLFRIEND! 52 days of McDonalds cheat free. You are over half way there already! I am so proud of YOU! :cool1:

This is a HUGE accomplishment for you. Please don't set yourself up for failure with the points. Start small if you need to. Maybe agree to stay within points 5 out of 7 days a week for 100 days. That way if you happen to slip a day or two you won't beat yourself up over it. I know how you work Vija. :teeth: I can see you now --- You'll slip once and figure that you've lost your clippie anyway so you'll let it mountain into a 5 or 10 day slip rather than just one day. So, start small ---something you can obtain and feel succesful with. :flower: This way if you do slip a day you will be more inspired to get right back on track so you can keep earning your clippie days!

I don't get here too often. So check in with me at our other check in spot too so I don't miss you -- K? :love2:

Hi, Vija! That is sooo great! Congratulations! I hit 53 days -- hard to believe for me. I know, though, that the exercising is what is keeping me on track. First of all, I don't want to screw up the diet part by overeating when I am working so hard at the gym, and second, working out at the gym gives me extra activity points that I try to use those days. Keep up the great work!

Wow!! It's getting really close to the end of our challenge!! And I am PROUD to say that I have not cheated on my french fries or white bread!!! I can't believe I haven't had a value meal for that long...and I can't tell you how many times I've avoided snatching a fry off my children's plate when we go out to Chili's or fast grabs...I've had whole wheat bread and I did have a bit of whole wheat Hawaiian bread...that stuff is sinful!!! But it wasn't WHITE! :)

Princess Vija! I'm so glad you're keeping track of the days...so is it April 10th??? Am I crazy for wanting french fries and a piece of garlic toast??? :) We'll see what I do on that day...

Even better news...since starting this challenge I have lost 18.5 pounds!!!! I'm 1.5 pounds from my first 10% goal of 181 and my 60 pound clippie!!! :) And I really attribute alot of that to cutting out these two foods! :)

Thanks guys!!!

Wahoo!!! I can't believe it, either! Not a french fry or white bread has crossed these lips! I have had one or two croutons on my salad...but I convinced myself those were different than white bread! :) I did the no white bread to avoid any type of bun product. It has really cut down on my cravings too!!! I think this next time I'll have to cut out chocolate...that's been my only no-no that's been too hard to kick....but I'm down 21 pounds since starting this cheat free challenge and I thankfully thank you for starting it!!! :)

WAHOOOO!!!

Princess VIJA!!! YEAH!!! Thanks for starting this! I am officially 100 days without french fries or white bread!!! Now, a part of me really wants to go get some but another part of me doesn't...think I'll just save it for a special day...maybe when we sell our house and I can have Guthrie's...we have no Guthrie's here and I can't see McDonald's fries giving me that loving feeling....so WAHOO!!! I'm amazed I did it!! :)

I think for the next 100 days I'll give up...gee I can't think of anything..have been really good other than chocolate...and I just can't give up that! :)

I feel GREAT even if the scales aren't with me this morning! :)

Tara,
congrats on sticking to it!!!! It does feel good doesn't it???!!!! I too, wondered when I would visit McDonalds, as much as I WANT to, I won't. I have a "date" planned with DD sometime next month. We are going to go get makeovers, go see a movie and then for lunch we will go for McDonalds. The only other time I can see me going is if the family is out and we are going to stop for fast food.

My next challenge is already started! I am going to go 100 days cheat free and stay in my WW points. I did make 2 modifications. First is milk is free. I know that I would skip milk and save the points for something else, so that is ok. and the other thing is movie theatre popcorn. We so rarely go see movies that once in many, many months to have that as a treat is ok for me.

AND I also am going 100 days without chips! :scared1: I am already at day 8 and I will make it!

I think I might start a new thread what do you think?

Does anyone mind if i join in on this challenge again. I started out the first time doing really well for about 30 days, then I fell off of the wagon. Now I'm ready to get back on and ride this out until the end. I have 110 days until our vacation and I'm willing to give up fast food, bread and candy. I'm 5'9 and currently weigh 149 my goal weight is 137. I know I can do this in the next 100 days. The weather looks like it's on a steady path of warmth, so I can run outside more often now. I'm ready and WILL stick this one out :) Tomorrow Sunday April 17th starts day one for me!
