Hi, my first visit to this site and this message board.

We are planning a 2 night, three day trip to Disney the week of February 3, 2001. Two adults, one two year old.

Any advice on hotel discounts during this time as well as advice on how to maximize our time there? Probably most interested in Magic Kingdom, Epcot and maybe Universal Studios. Also, interested in moderate hotels unless a great deal can be had at a luxury.

Thanks!!

Hi Marlo!

Welcome to the DIS, I'm sure you will get ALL your questions answered here :D

There is a post a ways down from Shelly about a special rate for the moderate Resorts. You just call Disney and ask them for the insider rate at one of the moderates which. I'm sure they will let you know if the special rate of $109 is available. I would hurry though there's probably not too many at that rate.

So glad that you found the DIS. There are lots of friendly people here ready to help.
I am not aware of any discounts available to the general public at that time (but that is under debate :D). If you are a member of the Disney Club, there may be a discount at the moderates at that time.
You may want to take a look at our Resort and Theme Parks Boards to help you with your resort and park questions. Just go to the bottom of the page to the Drop Down Menu to find the other boards here at the DIS.
Again, glad to see a fellow Pittsburgher here (you are in good company :D ).

We are also taking a short trip, first week in March. The moderate 109 rate is for a minimum of 3 nights so I'm not sure if that will work for you. If you need the code for the special you can go to another site for the codes. (we aren't allowed to to give them out here.) Or you can leave an email address and I will email you with it. Again I believe it is only for a three night or more stay and the moderates are great. If not you should be able to get some decent rates for the All Star resorts. I haven't been to them, but I hear they are good.

Keep looking on the boards and you are sure to find a lot of helpful information
One other quick note, not sure if you are flying or driving, but if flying there are great rates on USAir for those dates. Also you might want to consider Tiffany towncar for a quick trip (especially with a little one)to whatever resort you choose.

I forgot to mention that if you haven't been to MGM yet, I think it is better than Universal and if you are staying on Disney property a lot easier to get too. You could probably make the most of your stay with a Disney Resort that offers length of stay passes that allow you to park hop (and other things) for your length of stay. Other wise you will have to buy just one day tickets because they dont sell Two or three day park hoppers.

Sorry I am rambling, I am just learning all of this while I am planning my short trip too.

Have fun
