View Full Version : Looks Like No More Meal Vouchers (As We Know Them Anyway)

I was trying to find the vouchers on the website of Florida Orlando Tickets and it said they were no longer available so I emailed them. Here is the response I got from them just a few minutes ago.

Hi Carla,

As you have probably heard, Disney has changed their entire line of tickets
for 2005. They have taken all meal certificates away from everyone except
Disney hotels. You have to stay in a Disney hotel to get them. I guess it's
their way of trying to keep everyone on Disney property. We'll see if it
lasts, as I'm sure they will get many complaints.

I'm sorry we can no longer provide our customers with Character Breakfasts
or Quick 'N Casual Meal Certificates. It wasn't our choice and we feel badly
for our customers who depended on us for them.

Sincerely,
Betty

I forgot to ask this in my original post. Am I mistaken or can dining only be added to the new MYW system if you purchase a package? If so, there will be lots of disappointed people including myself.

I saw your note on the restaurant board also.

We were given 4 Q&C vouchers from our SSR tour on the day we left for the airport. They had told us we could exchange them when we came in the fall.

I guess I will have to list them on the DISboards auction now.

I just checked Hotwire and you can still purchase BF, VKL, and Q&C vouchers there.

Carla (MickeyEars),

You will only beable to get the $35 a day dinning plan if you do a package. I have never used the vouchers, but I am sure that it will be a big change to everyone.

Shelby5514,

I would be careful. Even if you can get them, Disney might not let you use them past a certain date since they are doing all these new ticket and package things, especially with the new package dinning plan. I could be wrong, but I have a feeling that in the next few months or so it will end up where if you want to do hassle free or discounted dinning, you will have to go with a package and add the dinning option on to it.

Disney can't just refuse to accept them. They have an expiration date of 5/31. I can see them not reissuing any new ones, but they won't rcancel their agreement for those already in circulation.

my3kids,

I am sure your right. They will faze out the vouchers and 5/31 will probably be the last day you can use them.

I'm planning to book the dining package for our April trip. I also wanted to order a few vouchers to use with the package. I was thinking of using the package for dinners and the vouchers for breakfast.

Looks like I should try to order them now instead of waiting until March.

Just in case anyone is curious, I just ordered the Q&C from hotwire and my order went through without any issues.

I haven't used vouchers, but I would agree with this! After all, if you have already booked a Dream Maker package, they are going to honor that. So, I would imagine vouchers would be in the same category. Not issue new ones, but honor the ones that are already out there.

Becky2005,

Your correct. Whatever you already have purchased or booked will be excepted. After the current back of vouchers are gone, they probably won't be releasing any new ones.

I know that we, on the DIS, do not represent the entire population of WDW visitors, but I do know that many of us utilize the meal vouchers. We always rent a car and can eat off site, but choose to use the vouchers because they give us decent savings. Will we continue to eat as much onsite if we are not able to utilize the vouchers? Nope! I don't know how many people will make this same choice, and I'm wondering how significant the lost income to Disney Dining would be after a year or so. Maybe the dining feature will yield "vouchers" or "coupons" different than the ones we are used to, but still be available through ticket brokers like HWSC. I know the current ones offer an incentive for me (staying onsite) and others (staying offsite) to dine on property. Maybe we will still be able to order meal vouchers, just different kinds. Besides, were these vouchers really meant to be sold to individuals (without WDW pkgs) from companies like Connections in the first place? I will cross my fingers that some type of onsite dining savings (other than the skimpy AP discounts) will be available to us non-pkg visitors. I refuse to pay rack rate on my room to get a meal plan.

I agree with Frann. Hopefully there will be some other type of voucher offered later. I too refuse to pay for a package just for the dining plan.

This isn't the greatest news for my family. We always share meals as we are light eaters (me and the 2 DDs). The vouchers were great for us. The new meal package isn't the greatest for us because my two DDs are considered "adult" when eating but couldn't even really finish a kids meal. I guess we are stuck paying full price - although we will still be able to share meals and save money.

We did the Fantasmic Package one year for the priority seating and we ended up with 2 full meals left over. What are you supposed to do with leftovers????

I just placed a voucher order for our May trip through Hotwire Savings Club just in case they run out soon. I got the VKL adult, Breakfast adult/child, and QCs, but it looks like they are already out of the VKL child vouchers. I wonder if they'll stop selling all the vouchers as soon as their supply is depleted....

Go to the Theme Parks & More section under Walt Disney WorldŽ Resort Meals. Good luck!

I ordered my vouchers from Hotwire today. It looked like this would happen. We are going May 24th-June 1st so we are just squeaking in for the May 31st expiration. :Pinkbounc
