Since you deal with airfares daily, maybe you could help me. I don't fly often, and when I do I am never sure if I'm getting a good deal! When should I look for the best rates for a trip scheduled for May 26 - June 2, and what would a great rate from TX. to Orlando be?? Thanks for any help that you can give!!

From where in Texas are you flying? I do not think fares will ever be any lower than they are today because May 26th falls during Memorial Day weekend, a busy travel period.

Since I don't know what city you are flying from, if it's Dallas or Houston, do you only want a non-stop flight or are you willing to connect if it saves money?

Thanks for your response! I could fly out of Dallas, San Antonio, Lubbock, or Midland. One connection would be O.K. if it was a big savings, but my husband is very averse to flying so too many connections don't work well for us.

Of the cities you listed, fares are the lowest out of Dallas. American Airlines is currently $235.50 for non-stop flights for your dates. Other airlines are only about $20 cheaper but you would have to change planes. I really do not think fares will go down for your dates. If it were me, I'd buy tickets on American now.

depending on the airline I know that many of the majors have memorial day weekend specials that won't be posted for a couple of months yet. you would basically have to buy it at the fare listed now and then when it goes down you can get that amount in a voucher for the difference.
for instance last year united had a special here out of pittsburgh for 139 rt and we traveled memorial day and came home on that wednesday.didn't even have a sat night stay. and they also had specials of 159 for staying a sat night. and usair had specials of 151 for that weekend. the only reason we went with united is that the usair one required a sat night stay.
