I'm here......I'm here....I'm here. Sorry, between deaths in the family and illnesses, 2005 hasn't started off very nicely.
Yes--we are on the 7/1/06 cruise. 2 families--us and my husband's sister.
6 kids---14 (b), 12 (b), 12 (g), 8 (g), 5 (b), 5(g).
This will be our 3rd Disney cruise (6 in all) and my sil family's first. It is going to be a longggggggg year and a half.
Anyway, I'll check in some more later.

2 kids! My daughter will be 15 at the time and my nephew will be 5!
This will be the 4th DCL for all of us!
I'm working hard to save $ since it's the most expensive one yet! :sad2:
My daughter will be glad to know at least one person close to her age will be there! :sunny:
Where are you all from? And I hope 2005 gets much better for you! :wizard:

Ok Lisa---looks like you and me are the only ones on this cruise. We are going to have the whole boat to ourselves!!!
I am anxious to see what they do on the fireworks cruise this year to see what we can expect.
Ok---I just saw your count down clock-----2 years has dwindled down to 14 months. I can't believe it!

Hi Patti---glad to see you found it. Hey--there is a really good trip report for the western itinerary. It is a 6 or 7 parter. It will get you even more excited.
The year is going fast, fast, fast. I am looking forward to getting the rest of the ressies made for airplane and hotel. Can't do it until they open up sometime in July.

Deb- We are watching the airfare, and if it goes below what we booked through Disney, we will change it. If not, then we are good to go. I read the trip reports, and I can't wait to go! I'm pushing all here to achieve their trip goals.

Hi Lisa! You are right, definately Husker fans. I went back to work after 10 years to pay for my season tickets. :cheer2:
I will be traveling with 2 teenage girls, for better or worse. They will be 13 and 14 when we sail, and yes, this is our first cruise. Deb talked me into going. We are so excited! There will be a total of 21 people with us. We started talking to the family about the trip (after we had booked) and they all decided they wanted to go. My girls are the oldest, but there are 5 other cousins ranging in ages from 1-10.

Okay Patti, let's make a point of NOT talking about football so we can all get along!!! :rotfl:
So excited you have 2 teenage girls! Would they want to maybe email my daughter sometime to get to know each other? This will be her 4th Disney Cruise so she'd be more than happy to tell your girls all about it! And it would be great if they could meet up on the ship!
My nephew will also be on board and he will be 5 at the that time!
All 21 of you will have a great time!! Can't wait to see what they do for 4th of July!!!

LOL! No football. I'm sure my girls would love to email with your daughter. I mentioned it to them on the way to school this morning, and they thought that would be fun. We will have at least 1 5 year old with us.

Great! Have them email her at my email address then she can email them from her's. It's LDB1030@sbcglobal.net
she would love to hear from them!
Do you all have 1st or 2nd seating? We have 1st and we've always had that and it's never been a problem for us. We hated the idea of finishing dinner at 10pm! :sad2:
Husker4040
04-27-2005, 02:17 PM
We have early dinner. I also can't see myself eating at the time I'm usually in bed.
I will set your email address up in the girls address book. They each have their own email account (under our main account) and since it is a kids account, I severely limit what they can do. No attachments, etc. If your daughter wants to send pictures, I will have her send them to my account.
I think they will be thrilled to meet someone they will be cruising with, especially someone who knows the ropes. It will make them feel more comfortable to know someone when they get there. Being young teens is a socially tough time. I have one that is very outgoing, and the other is very shy.

Same way with my daughters account. That's why I said to have them email me first because she can only receive emails from address I approve so I can do that once they get going emailing each other!
Our last cruise, one of her best friends was also on board so that was nice but the time before, she had met a friend this way also! In fact the families are still in touch so it was fun for them to meet on the ship finally!
She knows the ship like it's her second home! :flower: So she'll be glad to show the girls around!
Are all 21 of you guys on the same deck? We will be on deck 5!
Husker4040
04-27-2005, 05:43 PM
They will be happy to have someone "in the know".
As far as the rest of our party, we are pretty spread out. They are split like this:
2 cabins on deck 2 (my sister's family, & her inlaws)
3 cabins on deck 6 (my folks, other sisters family, & brother's family)
1 cabin on deck 7 (my inlaws)
1 cabin on deck 8 (us)
The way I figure it, it's a big ship, and the more spead out we are, the better. :crowded: We will probably be together at dinner, but since our kids are so much older than the others, we won't be as tied down during the day.
We have a class at the Y tonight :Pinkbounc but I think my older daughter may want to send a quick email before we leave.

I'll have her email your daughter tomorrow (Thursday night)!

I know all about computer problems! :badpc: Mine were caused by my kids, and got so bad last weekend my husband had to wipe it and start over. It couldn't be fixed. That is pretty bad, considering I'm married to a computer geek! Besides working part time, I run a computer business.
My daughter will be thrilled to hear back from her. I told her that I found someone that had been on 3 other cruises, and was about her age. She couldn't get me out of that chair fast enough. :rotfl:
My other daughter will probably send an email also. She is my shy one, so it may take her a while. She is the one that is most excited about this trip. My older daughter didn't watch the CD with us, or the special on the Travel Channel, but my younger one was right there with us. On the CD, she wanted me to replay parts of it again so she could get a better look. She will probably want to know about things like the basketball courts. She really enjoys shooting hoops.

I just forwarded the email to Alexa so I'll tell her to email Sara back tonight! And I'll add her email in the 'okay' list!
That will be alot of fun for the girls to get to know each other!
Oh my gosh! I had to do a total recovery on my computer last night also!
What is with these things?!? I LOVE watching the show they had on travel channel and the dvd!!!!!! Almost makes me cry! Once you go, you will know exactly what I'm talking about!!

I'll let Sara know that she will be hearing from Alexa. She has TONS of questions! She will probably ask some questions about the "free" food. She has weight issues that we are dealing with, and it's tough for her. She gets excited thinking about all of the food. :sad2: It's going to be tough to reign her in with so much of it around. Of course, I do have to say I'm really looking forward to it myself. :rolleyes1 Maybe if she hooks up with Alexa, she will be too busy to be tempted by all of the food. :Pinkbounc

Alexa said she sent the email to Sara but she got an email back about it not going because of images or something!? I think ALexa used a stationary or something?! Let me know if she does not get it and we'll try and resend!
Yes, the food is everywhere that's for sure! :mickeybar Not a good place to be if you are on a diet but what I find to be VERY helpful is taking the stairs!
The elevators are SOOOOOOO small and SOOOOO slow that the stairs are the best bet AND you get the exercise you need to walk off ALL that food! Another reason that I don't like last seating, can't imagine eating all that then going to bed! :sad2:
It's also fun to walk about deck 4 in the morning! MY oldest sister and I love to do that!

Hi Lisa :wave2: I had a great Mother's Day. How was yours? The weather here was a little iffy. Mostly overcast all day, then in the afternoon we had some cloud bursts with 40 mph winds thrown in for fun. We just had the 30th anniversary of the worst tornado Omaha has ever had (F4), so a lot of people were on edge. I like storms, as long as they stay just that. :umbrella:
It looks like the girls are still talking back and forth. Sara looks forward to Alexa's emails. My other daughter wants to email also. I will send you an email from her address so you can get her set up.

Hi Patti-
I'm beginning to think me, you and Deb are the ONLY ones on this ship!?! :confused3 Oh well, as I said before, more food for all of us!! :cool1:
I did have a nice Mother's Day! We had to go to Oklahoma for my father-in-laws surprise birthday party! We then spent Sunday in OKC and went to the bombing memorial! Very nicely done but very sad! I'm originally from the city where they rented the truck (family still there) so it was strange to see it so boldly in the museum! :guilty:
Other than that, we got home just before the storms! :sunny: Sounds like what we had just north of us got up to you! :umbrella:
I don't do well in tornado season! You'd never know I was born and raised in Kansas!!
School is out the 25th!! Was supposed to be the 19th but we have snow days to make up! :cold:

Are you originally from J.C.? We lived in J.C. for about 10 months in 1988-1989. I worked at a place called B&B Wholesale, or Bitterman - Button. It was owned at that time by a guy by the name of Phil Janke. Then we moved to Georgia. Talk about a culture shock! Midwest girl in Augusta, GA. I had never been to a Piggly Wiggly before. :rotfl2:
ldb1030
05-10-2005, 09:40 AM
Oh my gosh!!! What small world!! Yes, I was born and raised in JC! My father was Sheriff of Geary County for 16yrs before retiring! He was sheriff when you lived there! And I was married there in the Catholic church in 1988!
I have a client who recently moved to Augusta, Ga.! She said it's beautiful but the people are not very friendly?! :confused3
Husker4040
05-10-2005, 04:46 PM
No matter where we go, we are always amazed at how small the world is! The weirdest one was when we were living in England, we went to a NATO base commissary in London, and ran into a girl that my husband went to school with. I ran into a guy at the base post office one day with a Nebraska jacket on, and asked him where he was from. He is from a really small town called Hooper. He played football with my cousin because his school wasn't big enough to have a football team. How weird, but it's kind of fun.
We lived in JC for 10 months, then Augusta for 10 months. Yep, my hubby is a former soldier. Augusta is beautiful, but we got there in the summer. I thought we were one county line from living with the devil. I learned a lot of things in Augusta :rotfl: I worked down the street from the Masters golf course, and we could watch traffic back up on the interestate and just sit there for hours!
Rich got to meet one of the fine deputies of Geary County one night. I was coming down there, and he went to one of the local motels out on the highway, and in going over the bridge, (I think it was a bridge, it's been almost 20 years ago) got a ticket for speeding. I got caught in bad weather, so was late getting there anyway.
ldb1030
05-11-2005, 10:31 AM
My sister and I figured if you lived in JC for only 10months, your husband HAD to be stationed at Ft. Riley!
I've only run into people I know at WDW and in San Francisco once! Too strange! And regarding Augusta, Ga., my client rents her house out during Masters! They make good $$$! :flower: Then they take vacations with that money!
:rotfl2: about your husband meeting one of the "fine deputies" of Geary County!

Junction City was actually one of my favorite places. I decided after 13 moves in 8 years, I wasn't cut out to be an Army wife. :rotfl: I have a couple of memories from Riley that stick out. The guys went to Germany 3 weeks after we were married, so I went home for the weekend, and stayed 2 weeks! On the way back down, I think it was about a 3 hour drive, the day went from bad to worse. I left home about 6am because it was the end of August and the A/C in my car didn't work. I was tootling down the road setting my own pace (who's out at 6am?) :moped: , and found out who else is out at 6am. The nice county deputy. I came up over the hill from one direction, and he came from the other. I saw him hit his radar to lock in the speed, so I just pulled over and waited for him. My car (hatchback Cavalier) was full of the rest of our wedding gifts, and our bedrails. I gave him my sob story, and got a warning. I continued along until I got to this little access road that ran between farms. I got halfway down the road, and out of the corner of my eye saw a calf running for the road, and the gate was open. I slammed on the brakes, but knew if he didn't stop, I couldn't stop in time. He stopped at the edge of the road, and as soon as I passed, trotted across the road. At the end of the road there were 10 pheasant on the road. 9 got off in time. The 10th one took my whole windshield wiper arm off, and left a deep scratch in the windshield! Needless to say, I was a little rattled by the time I got back.
I recovered for a few days, then got a call from the First Sgt's wife letting me know they were bringing the troops home in groups, and would I bake cookies and greet them. Sure, sounds easy enough. I lost track of how many cookies I baked. I greeted soldiers for 2 weeks from 6am to about 3am, off and on throughout the day. When I wasn't greeting, I was baking and shopping for more ingredients. My husbands plane was the LAST one back! Welcome to the Army! :rotfl2: I loved it. One of my friends liked JC so much, they stayed. He got out, and they bought a house there.

I never really had any desire to stay in any of the places we lived. That doesn't mean I didn't enjoy being there, but being from the midwest, I couldn't wait to get back. We lived in KS, GA, and MD stateside, then went to England for 2 years as a civilian contractor. I met people I love and keep in touch with to this day, but couldn't wait to come home! The biggest difference in all of the places we lived was the people. I'm pretty sure Deb would agree - right Deb? :wave2: Other than lack of jobs, JC would have been a great place to stay. I loved the town and the people were great. I'm sure it's grown by leaps and bounds since we were there. In fact, I was looking around one night and came across their web page. I was impressed at all the changes. Of course, it has been 17 years since we have been there. :rotfl:

My bil tried to get stationed at Fort Riley. He decided to extend his gig in Germany to allow his kids to finish the school year and the post was filled by the time they were ready to come home. He went to Utah and is now by Rolla.
I miss the midwest. Maybe it's the space issue. Maybe that is why I love cruising. Sitting on the balconey just looking out onto the blue ocean----the open ocean----the one you can just look for miles and miles and miles. :)

Yep--dh's older brother has been in forever, but not in combat. I think he does teaching now--or recruiting--or training the recruits. LOL! Something specialized. He was in Tokyo I think or Hong Kong without his family, and then came home, and then went to Germany with the family for a few years and then came home. I think I was wrong with Fort Riley, I think he is at Fort Leonardwood. It is outside of Rolla. He bought his first house and his oldest is in college. Finally able to put down roots. My father was Air Force when he met my mom. Stationed in Greenland.
It may be flat--but is it uphill! LOL! I remember driving from MO to CO and the gas mileage being so much better on the way home. It is pretty bare though between. Ok--Omaha made the top list of worsening traffic. Aren't you excited to hear that.
The Groton sub-base is scheduled to be hit by a close down with that big list. The town will just disappear I think. It isn't just the base, it's the schools and support stuff associated with it also---even the museum. Oh yeah, DH's uncle was a nuclear submarine commander---one of the first ones I think. LOL!!

Is it time to go YET? :confused3[/QUOTE]
I sure wish it was! I am counting the days, but not very patiently! :hourglass The only "vacation" I have to look forward to this year is an off road event in the middle of no where Iowa with a bunch of old military vehicles. :sad2: My only saving grace is one of my favorite authors has the 11th book in her series coming out the day before we leave. How convenient is that? He wanted us to camp out there. Like that's gonna happen! I will go along and do the video taping of a bunch of idiots in mud. When I get hot, I can go back the 15 miles to the motel. Then I can walk across the highway to the other side of the motel to use the pool. :rotfl:
I know what you mean about Riley devastating Junction City if it closed. We lived in a brand new apartment house, and our landlord depended on the military people to fill those. He had 2 or 3 right out by us, but owned a lot more than that around town. Interestingly enough, there was only one other military couple in ours. The rest were locals. Strange how I can remember that, but can't remember what I had for breakfast yesterday! :rotfl2:

I actually do get to do one fun thing this summer. On June 6th I am going to football camp! I went last year also. It's Football 101 for Women. I LOVE it. We got to learn all about the West Coast Offense before our husbands. That was the best part! It's taught by the coaches. I am in the advanced class. :cheer2: This year we get to learn about the defense. Last year we had 1050 women from all 50 states. :rotfl: Only in Nebraska!
Going to NYC sounds like fun! Like you, I should be putting this money toward our cruise, but.....it's football! :hyper:

Dance camp sounds like fun! The girls aren't going to camp this year. They normally go to the YMCA camp, but this year, because of their age, they would have to go to Ranch Camp. That would be fine with them, but it would cost me over $1000 to send them both. Not this year. They understand, and are fine with that. They will be visiting their grandparents in CA for a week each, and probably a few days with my folks.
I've been doing the diet thing. I can deal with that, but the exercise is killing me! Deb gets to hear me complain about it all the time. :teeth: I work out 6 days a week, and can't lose a pound! :confused3
Last day of school here is the 26th. They have 1/2 day. The girls are far more excited about that than I am. It's nice coming home from work and having the house quiet. I get home and work on our business for a while (after working out) then it's normally time to pick them up. Now it will be chaos when I get home. :sad2:
Hey Deb - I did hear that Nebraska made the list for worsening traffic. Of course, since I have a 3-5 minute commute to work, it doesn't affect me much. :rotfl: There aren't too many people on my roads at 5:45 anyway. The Interstate is busy with those poor folks who drive downtown every day, but not the roads out here. :moped: The houses are expanding west, but a lot of the jobs are staying downtown. One of the stipulations for a job when I last looked was that it was within 5 miles of home. Luckily for me, that wasn't a problem.

I hope your day at work got better. My day wasn't so bad. I got in the building without locking my keys in the car. That's how Friday started, and it went downhill from there. I'm also thinking about vacation! :hourglass
The girls get out this week too. It's going to be a busy week. Today was the orthodontist after school, and we leave for the gym in about an hour, and won't get back until 7:30. Tomorrow night we have honors night. Wednesday night we have the gym again, and not getting home until 7:30.
I went back to walking this weekend. I walked Saturday and Sunday, and will continue to go to class on Monday and Wednesday, and switch off walking and doing Tae Bo the other 2 days. Friday is my one day off.
I better get to the gym and do some of this. :Pinkbounc
Hope your week gets better!

392 days!!! Thank goodness I have football camp next week to help pass a couple of the days. :cool1: I've had so many things come up in the last few days, I haven't had a lot of time to obsess over the trip. I won't have a lot of time to do that again until after Father's Day. I run a local computer show, and that's when we have our next show. It's always busy running up to the show. After that, I have 2 months before the next one.
Hope both you and Deb are staying dry. We have had rain almost every day this week :umbrella: , and storms each night. We have more headed our way now. They are hoping to get in another regional baseball game. We could have 1 of our 2 teams in the College World Series. Nebraska played and won this afternoon, and Creighton plays tonight. I'm not a baseball fan (kind of like watching paint dry) but I do like the CWS.
Have a great weekend!

I'm getting real sick of the rain! :umbrella:
I don't know how much we've gotten in the last couple of days but the street in front of my house was almost flooded yesterday! More coming today! :sad2:
I will be in NYC in 2 weeks but I'm just not as excited about it as I am the cruise! I got a new LandEnd catalog today and I kept looking at things and thinking "Hmmmm, that would be so cute on the cruise"!! :flower:
This time next year I'll be a basket case! :p
Stay dry and safe in the storms!!

You stay dry and safe also. We are in the severe area for tonight...again. I have a dog that is afraid of thunder and becomes velcro dog. Have a great time on your trip to NYC! That will be fun. I will be in the middle of Iowa in 3 weeks. I can't hack the 5 days, so I will go out for the weekend. Jess may want to go with him, and that would be fine also. Sara and I will drive up Friday or Saturday and check into the hotel. :rotfl: They can bring their stinky butts out and take a nice long shower and swim. That way I only have to stay a day or 2. I will use the time here to clean my house from top to bottom. Not something I'm looking forward to, but it needs to be done. :sad2:
I counted today, and we are 57 weeks from the cruise! Sounds better than 391 days. :cool1:

I surely don't want to think about winter. Of course, it is pretty warm and humid today, but I do not like winter in Nebraska. :cold: We keep trying to figure out why we came back. Ok, besides the fact that it is home. :Pinkbounc

Have fun in NYC. It can get really hot in the summer. Any plans on what you are gonna see? Did you tell us already and I just forgot? LOL!!
I am soooooooo excited. I can't keep away from the boards. I booked the rental car already. Waiting for the hotels to open up and the air to open up. It is all coming together.

Hi Deb! :wave2: The time is starting to go fast. Maybe it's just because I have more going on right now. Just got back yesterday from football camp, spent yesterday getting Rich and ambulance back and forth to the DMV for VIN inspection and plates. Then it wouldn't start! :rotfl2: That entailed a trip to Target for a set of jumper cables. It was almost 100 degrees yesterday, so I handed the cables out the window and enjoyed the A/C. :rotfl:
I have started watching to see if any of the airlines are opening up our dates yet, and so far nothing. If I can do it cheaper than Disney, I will. Right now, it's either the same, or more. They are talking about the airline fares going up because of fuel costs. We'll see what changes between now and a few weeks from now.

Hi Deb! Good to hear from you again!
I also can't believe the 3 of us are the only ones on this thread! :confused3
Yes, excited about NYC! We are doing all the tourist stuff of course! Going with 3 other moms and daughters! I told the others that I was not going to be travel agent (that's been my job for the last 21 years  ) on this trip! I was going to have fun and go with the flow! :flower:
Just sent Alexa off to Dance Team camp at Emporia State University this morning so I'm a bit sad! She'll have alot of fun though and I'll get stuff done around the house!
Too early for airline dates yet. Will be under a year but you can bet I'll let you know when it's time! I like to fly cheap like everyone else! :teeth: We are flying in the day prior as we always do! Are you all?

Are you as sick of rain as I am?????????? :umbrella: :umbrella:
Husker4040
06-13-2005, 06:40 AM
:umbrella: Yep. Tired of the rain. I think we have had rain almost every day for about 2 weeks. It's funny, but they say our drought situation looks good for this year, but we need many more years to make up for the long term drought outlook. As long as the farmers got their crops in before it started to rain, they are thrilled! Good for them. I'm tired of mowing every 3 or 4 days. :rotfl:
Sara left for California this morning. Actually, she's at the airport with dad, and hasn't left quite yet. She will be gone until Sunday night. We have a computer show on Sunday (up at 4am and on my feet all day) and I think she gets in about 8:00. That will be a long day, but I will be thrilled to have her home again. Of course, I ended up coming in to work at 4:20am because I had to get her up at 3:30 and had already showered and was ready to go. I wasn't totally sure that Rich would want to take her. He worked last night, and only got about 3 1/2 hours of sleep. :sad2: He did get up, they left for the airport and I came in here. The upside is I will be off at 10:20. Good, time to go home and take a nap! :cool1:
ldb1030
06-13-2005, 10:10 AM
The farmers down here did not get their crops in before all this rain! Feel sorry for them but the forecast for the next 7 days says no rain! I'll believe it when I see it!
Alexa got home from dance team camp late Saturday afternoon and slept for the next 18 1/2 hours! :faint:
I don't think they got any sleep at camp!!! :sad2:

Check out this link. http://www.riverapolicecanine.com/ when you get there, look at Canine Graduates. I know the school is in JC, but doesn't it seem like there are a lot of dogs that stay in JC? Hmmm, waiting for the big crime spree. :rotfl: The last dog on the list belongs to my sister and brother in law. They are out in rural Nebraska, and you wouldn't believe the drug problem! I guess I didn't realize he was in JC for training. I-80 is like the drug super highway. They have a bust about every week. Yuck! :sad2:
ldb1030
06-13-2005, 03:14 PM
That's so cool! I did not even realize that was in JC!! :rotfl:
With it being right on I-70, it's never surprise when they have big bust in that area! We used to joke that if a crime can happen, it'll happen in JC/Geary County! ;)
I'm sure with all the GI's expected at Ft.Riley soon, they sniffing dogs will come in handy! :smooth:
Husker4040
06-14-2005, 09:33 AM
:rotfl2: On the sniffing dogs!! You probably get as much crap through there as we do through here. What kills me is how they get stopped for stupid stuff. A headlight or tail light out, not signaling to change lanes, no plates, speeding, etc.
:cool1: We have sun today, and should have for the rest of the week! How about you? Of course that means it's going to start getting hot. I might even have to turn my sprinklers on this week if it gets hot with no rain. I don't think we have ever made it until the middle of June without turning them on at some point.
Happy Flag Day!

It sounds like you had a great time! It's fun seeing new places and new things. What did you get to do while you were there? I bet the girls were so excited! That would be exciting for a teenager. Welcome back.
I just did another check of the countdown :hourglass (I try not to look too much), and we are down to 53 weeks!! :cool1: I'm having a stressful week, and need to start thinking about something else for a while. My husband thinks I'm crazy  planning this far out. I want to be sure everything is taken care of, and we can just have a relaxing vacation.
On Friday we are off to the wilds of Iowa. My husband and Jess are leaving today. They are taking his 1967 military ambulance over there. No air...over 100 with heat index today. I just hope that truck can make it. They are camping out with the group the first 2 nights, then Sara and I will go over on Friday. We are staying in a motel, so they will come in to stay with us when we get there. The last time I camped was when we left Riley over 16 years ago. We met my family at the state park in Manhattan for a couple of days.

1 year to go :cool1: Now I can really start to obsess! I haven't had a lot of time to think about it this last week. DH had his military truck thing in Iowa last week. To my amazement, the truck not only got there, but ran horrible trails all week, and got home without any problems at all! I have made it perfectly clear to him that there will not be one more penny spent on that thing until my cruise is paid for! Since I only have about half of the money, it's going to be a while. :teeth:
Sara got back from CA just over a week ago, and Jess is getting ready to leave Saturday. With having a show weekend before last, and being gone all last weekend, I haven't even started getting her ready to go. We are going to be doing some power shopping in the next few days. She hates to shop, so this is likely to come down to a clash of wills. :sad2:
I would have thought there would be more than just the 3 of us by now also. I will pass the link to my family. One or 2 of them may jump on here. Have a great week!

Have a great time in JC! We weren't there in July. We got married in Aug, and got orders in June. Small towns are great for holidays! Getting to spend it with family is even better. Enjoy. I will be working Saturday. I do billing, and we wouldn't want to wait until Tuesday to send out invoices. :sad2: It will take me about 8.5 hours to get done. I come in at 5:30, so I'm out by early afternoon. My boss will come in for about an hour at 10:00 to do his part. :confused3 Oh well. Working to cruise. :boat:

JC has one of the if not THE biggest 4th of July celebrations in the state! Lots of Ft. Riley involvement also!
I've NEVER missed a 4th of July with my parents but next year I'll be on the cruise so I'm kind of sad about that! :guilty: BUT once I'm on the ship, I hope it won't bother me! It just worked out well that the others of us could go then.
Have a safe holiday and maybe next week more people will admit they are on our sailing! ;)

Have a super and SAFE holiday! Enjoy the celebrations. I will be spending time on my huge deck with a cool, refreshing adult beverage :drinking1 watching all of the money my neighborhood spent in Missouri going up in smoke. :rotfl2: We figured we weren't going to buy any this year. We always stop ours to watch theirs any way. Cheaper for me, which means more money in my vacation fund! :Pinkbounc

Wow, it's really starting to go fast now! :cool1: As of last week we are almost completely free of credit card debt, so now I will concentrate on the cruise fund. :Pinkbounc
Things here at work at changing, and hopefully that will mean more hours and more money. :teeth: That will help with both the cruise cost and the spending money! We should get a tax refund this year. I'm still waiting to get my taxes back from my accountant. :sad2: I think he's been pretty busy golfing lately! We will definately get a refund next year! Straight into the spending money category. I already have my tip money put aside. I had to start with the easy stuff. :rotfl:

Amazing, isn't it? Oh well. I had an email all ready to go out to all of the group going with us, then we had some trouble getting Jess back from CA. Her plane was diverted, and it got nuts from there. Needless to say, as long as my kids are flying unaccompanied, I'm not sure I will use that carrier again. They had a great system set up in Denver, but keeping track of her once the plane was diverted was a nightmare.
I will try to get that email sent today. 50 weeks from Friday we start our vacation! :cool1:  :Pinkbounc I can't wait!
ldb1030

I don't know if I'll ever think Alexa is old enough to fly alone! :confused3
I'd be worried the WHOLE time!
Okay, now I'm getting very excited! Can't wait for the end of summer sales!

Once I finally told an airline supervisor how to do her job, found out the child was on the plane, then things were fine. I was not a happy mommy. :sad2:
My hubby needs to see this! He thinks I'm crazy  for buying stuff now. I've been buying little things here and there, and putting them in my wheeled, soft sided cooler. We are Mountain Dew junkies, so unless Disney suddenly changes vendors, we will have to bring some. :teeth:
I've already bought 2 formal type dresses for me, found Jess a little black dress, and found a very nice dress that I wore for a formal military retirement that fits Sara perfectly. My 2 dresses and Jess's dress, had I paid full price would have been well over $250, I think I paid $45 for the 3 of them. I love a bargain! :Pinkbounc
ldb1030
07-12-2005, 10:56 AM
I know, my husband thinks I'm nuts too but he sure likes it that I spend WAY less than I could have at full price!! :flower:
I always seem to wear a little black dress on formal night! Think I paid $6.00 one year and $9.00 another for one! :goodvibes
I must tell you, the BEST thing we take for organization is an over-the-door-shoe-holder! We keep film, camera, sunscreen, lanyards, everything in the pockets! That way no one is asking "where is the.........."!!
Mountain Dew??? :crazy2: I must say that is probably my least fave drink so I won't be borrowing any from you! :rotfl:
I took some Dr. Pepper once and loved having it but since then, I've dried to cut down on my caffeine so I've learned to love Spirt! :drinking1
My husband likes to take beer on board also but I think this time since we'll be at Key West on Sunday, we'll just buy some there!
Husker4040
07-13-2005, 07:49 AM
We will probably just buy it in Key West also. We'll have to take a few bottles to get us through until then, but the bulk will be on Sunday. I need caffeine about 3x/day. :teeth: I can't take the headaches that come with withdrawl. :headache:
Wow, what a deal on the dresses! We will look just after prom next year. These we found by accident.
We were coming home from the gym the other night, and my husband made the most shocking comment. He NEVER talks about the trip. He was listening to a Jimmy Buffett song (I think, I was reading a preseason football magazine) and he said something about in less than a year he would be sitting on deck, kicked back, having a drink. :earseek: :rotfl2: That cracked me up. Of course, then I started thinking about :mickeybar and :drinking1

ahhhhhhhh your husband is right on about Jimmy Buffett!!! They play him alot on CC! Whenever we hear a Jimmy song now, that's all we can think about! One of my sisters made me a CD of "cruise songs" and several Jimmy songs are on it!!!
My husband does not talk about it much either! But I KNOW he's excited!

Our final payment is due in 258 days! :scared1: I guess it's a good thing that I'm working more hours. :teeth: Ok, not good for me because it makes me  , but good for the cruise fund. It will all be worth it once we get on the plane! :cool1:
We are cooking here, how about you? We are doing a lot of this. :drinking:

07-20-2005, 08:36 AM
You are absolutely right, every little bit helps. I just mailed a check off to our fund last week. It makes me feel good just to see the balance, but I have a ways to go yet. I am going to have to tighten the straps a little more and start sending regular money again. I not only want to go on this vacation, but I want to have a great time while there! Money is the last thing I want to worry about. :teeth:
We are melting here! We need some of these :mickeybar I think the high today is going to be around 102, heat index about 115. :earseek:
ldb1030
07-20-2005, 09:46 AM
We're getting the same heat here! I don't even want to see my electric bill! :scared1:
It will be rather warm on the cruise next July also but it won't bother me a bit since I'll be at my "second home"!!! :goodvibes
Husker4040
07-21-2005, 08:02 AM
We put in a heat pump last spring, and I love it! My last electric bill was $143, and the temps were in the upper 80's to mid 90's all month. I don't dread it like I used to! No more bills to make me do this :scared1: My sister's air went out yesterday. I think their heat index was around 115.
Somehow I don't think I will mind the heat as much sitting out watching the water go by, a nice drink in my hand :drinking1 , and no where I HAVE to be. Sounds like heaven right now! Job stress.

My sister and nephew are here this weekend from Kansas City and we are headed to the pool but I think it's even too hot for that!? :sad1:

Interesting. That is the second post I've done that's been lost. Maybe it's when I post at work. Not sure.
We have been buying stuff for Jess also. I hope she is about done growing! She will get measured at the doctor today for her school physical. I'm sure she is around 5'8". Sara is at least 5'9". I don't have tiny petite children. :rotfl: With Sara, I want to wait a little longer and see if she can lose some weight.
I am so glad the heat broke! It was starting to get to me. Low to mid 70's today, but back close to 100 over the weekend. How was the weekend at the pool? We stayed in a LOT last weekend. Pretty much did errands as needed, and walked the dogs at night.
School starts here in 20 days! :teacher: Good thing, they are making me  . I'm tired of seeing this :rolleyes2

Weekend was fine! We stayed in alot also! Made my sister put together a new computer desk for me! ::yes::
Wow! You have tall girls! We are a short family! I think Alexa is 5ft now! I have a feeling she'll be taller than me soon though! :sad1:
Once school starts, I KNOW the time will fly and it will be July 1st, 2006!! :cool1:

I was close on the heights. Jess is 5'6 3/4", and Sara is 5'7 3/4". I am 5'3", so they don't get it from me! Hubby is 6'4". The doctor said she doubts very seriously if they are done growing!
The girls are bored too, and of course spend all of their time bothering me. They call me at work so I can referee a fight. I don't think so. :sad2:
Time is already starting to fly. My TA just faxed me another invoice from Disney. I think it's the same as the last one I got, but haven't had time to check. Working more hours is more of a strain that I thought it would be. :rotfl: I haven't worked full time since I was pregnant with Sara. If you would like for my daughter to email you I can have her do that?! :cheer2:

Hi Melissa! I will have 2 daughters on this cruise. They will be 13 and 14. They would love to email you if you are interested.
Lisa - glad you are back among the well. Jess was sick for a couple of days last week, and that is unusual for her. It is some sort of virus that just knocks you for a loop, but the recovery is fairly quick. Are the girls still emailing? I haven't checked Sara's account lately.
We still need to do some shopping. School starts one week from today. Sara will be at the school a couple of days this week to help with orientation for the 6th and 7th graders.
When does football start for you Lisa? Our first game is Sept 3rd. I haven't had time to check out any other teams this summer. I have heard a few rumblings about K State, but nothing different than what we hear most years about everyone. We are hoping for a much better year! :cheer2:
ldb1030
08-08-2005, 11:21 AM
Are we supposed to be even discussing football???!!!! :rotfl:
Oh look, a wildcat paw :paw:!! :rotfl2: Okay, enough of football other than to say.....yes, you guys need a better year than last but we'd like a good one too!!!
Not sure if Alexa has received an email froom Sara in awhile?! I think last time I asked her, she had not received one!?
Last full week of summer vacation!! Wonder how late she'll sleep in every day!?
Husker4040
08-09-2005, 07:44 AM
You are right about the football....sorry. :teeth: Just checking to see if you are anxious for the season as I am. :cheer2:
I had to get Sara up before I left for work today because she is helping with orientation at school. That was not an easy task. I am not looking forward to having to do that everyday again.
I will remind Sara to email. She got off track after her vacations this summer.
We have cooler weather moving through tomorrow, hope it heads your way also! As much as I hate this :cold: , we could use a break from the heat!

 Hello! May we join all of you 'July 4th week' cruisers? :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl:
I just booked our family today! It will be DH, DD (who'll then be 11) and myself. This will be our 5th DCL trip! (Believe it or not, we're also booked this Thanksgiving. We got a sweet deal when we rebooked on board last year during our Memorial day sailing. It feels as if it's been an eternity since then! :guilty: ) Anyway, I prefer summer sailings (such as this one) and spring break, and am looking most forward to this one! (Can one tell, we're DCL nuts! :rotfl2: )
Looking forward to future posts!

Welcome!!
Not too many people have confessed to being on our cruise so we're just figuring more food for us!
I'm getting SO excited! I know with school starting next week, time will FLY by!!

Welcome Priscilla! :wave2: I have a niece going that will be 10, and I think Deb has some kids going that are in that age range also. So far, it looks like we are the only newbies on this cruise. Oh well, the boards have been such a big help that we won't feel like it. :Pinkbounc
I'm with Lisa, since school (and football) is starting, time will fly now, at least I hope so.

Hey Lisa...play nice. :rotfl:
I just noticed that the KState game is a home game for us this year. You can buy tickets on the KState website for the Husker game. I checked this afternoon. :rotfl: Why don't you get tickets, and come on up here. :moped: It should be a little more interesting this year. We have not one, but two QB that can play! I got my season tickets today, so I am ready for some football!! :cheer2:

Watch my Cats play someplace other than KSU stadium??? :confused3 No can do! But thanks for the invite!! ;)
Can't believe it'll be kick off time soon! Getting excited! Will help pass the time so we can get on with this cruise!!!! :cool1:
School starts Thursday! Can't believe that either!!

Invitation stands if you ever feel the need to head north! :teeth:
My kids started school yesterday. It was only half a day since they don't want to freak out the 6th grade kids on the first day. They go in the morning, and the 7th & 8th graders go in the afternoon. It was positive for both girls (thank God!), so it might be a good year.
I'm with you, let's play some football!! :cheer2: Let's see. It would be about 18 days, 10 hours, and 26 minutes. Not that I'm counting. :rotfl2: I'm getting my fix on NFL preseason games right now.

LOL! It just shows our acceptance of everyone, even aging tattooed rockers. :rotfl2: I saw the show the other night only because I didn't have control of the remote. I was watching football......
My only concern about the show was that it would show the university in a bad light, but it didn't. So far, everything is positive. It will be a great recruiting tool. :rotfl:
I just checked, and we are down to about 10 months! Now I'm hoping the time will start to fly. I have football to get me through January, and then we will be into the downhill stretch! :Pinkbounc

We haven't had much time lately to get out shopping. It's on the schedule this weekend, but so is tons of other stuff. We have the Air Show at Offutt this weekend. Rich's military ambulance will be making it's first official appearance. :rotfl: He was at a client of ours who owns a body shop last night prepping and painting it. I think he got home just after 4am.
Have you dried out from all the rain over the weekend? We could use some of that up here. It's getting pretty dry again, but they saying a chance for showers today thru Friday. Then of course, hot as blazes this weekend. It is always hot for the air show. :sad2:

Rain Rain go away!! :umbrella: Getting sick of it but my yard sure looks good! :flower: Still raining as I drove into work this morning!
Enjoyed Tommy Lee again last night! :rotfl: I thought of you when they showed the football stadium!

One of the guys I work with told me they showed the half time show where he performed. I was there!
Still no rain here. :sad2: It is very foggy and nasty here this morning. It's still dark when I come in to work, so it's hard to tell if it's cloudy or not. They are saying hot and humid for today. Yuck.
ldb1030
08-25-2005, 05:21 PM
I KNEW you were there! Just figured you had to be! :cool1:
I'm sooooooooo sick of rain! Lost electricity about 1am this morning! Good thing I have a back-up alarm clock!! It's nasty and humid out right now and storms AGAIN are coming tonight! :umbrella: :boat: Creeks and rivers are over flowing!!!
Just made our plans for hubby and I to go to Vegas :wizard: for our anniversary in Oct.! Hoping that will help pass the time until it's time to CRUISE!!!!
Husker4040
08-26-2005, 07:47 AM
LOL!! :rotfl2: Of course I was there. It was a little odd seeing a film crew in the middle of the band, but we finally figured it out. There was no advance notice that he would be with the band.
Have a great time in Vegas! I went a few years ago with my online group, including Deb. That was a lot of fun. DH and I have talked about going, but never seem to make it happen.
We finally got some rain last night. Not a lot, but enough to get the ground wet. I don't see anymore on the radar, but KS got hammered again!
ldb1030
08-26-2005, 10:29 AM
Yes, the rain woke me up again this morning! And I got to chase one of my trash cans down the street!! That was fun at 6am in the dark! NOT!!!
The back-to-school-dance :dancer: is tonight so I hope it does not rain anymore!! The girls will be VERY upset if their hair is messed up! :rotfl:
Husker4040

We generally have a game or 2 that the military is honored. We don't have too many active duty units here, except Offutt. We have tons of Guard/Reserve units, most are, or have been deployed. I can't wait for Saturday!! :cheer2:
For Sunday's practice, they invited the students to watch, 4000 showed up! Of course, for the Spring Game, which is a scrimmage, we had 63,416 show up! :rotfl2: I, of course, was there. :cool1:
Time is starting to go fast now. I think we leave 10 months from today! :hourglass :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

We booked our air through Disney with the understanding we could change that if we found a better deal. I will talk to my TA as soon as she gets my folks off to the UK. I found a few more end of season deals for Jess yesterday. She will have a killer wardrobe, but she looks great in everything! :teeth:
Fall is on the way! Lows for the next few nights in the 50's! Now if only the pollen count would go down.....guess we can't have everything. :rotfl: 3 more days to football!! :cheer2:  :cool1:

08-31-2005, 09:34 AM
Still sticky and hot down here for awhile! :rolleyes2
Good idea to keep checking for better deals than DCL because I've always been able to beat the cruise line prices!! At least around here, cruise line prices are close to double what a 'normal' rate is!

But I REALLY need it to be time for our cruise!!! :flower:
Husker4040
09-08-2005, 07:31 AM
It was busy for us too, and my whole week was knocked off kilter because they cancelled my exercise class for a week for floor resurfacing. :sad2: I am actually anxious to get back tonight.
My Huskers won this week also! It wasn't pretty, but I heard your game wasn't either. :) The way I look at it, it's a W, and we can both say we did better than Oklahoma! Go Horned Frogs! :rotfl:
I am ready for the cruise too! My job is making me crazy, and my boss is going on vacation with the head of the company for 2 weeks at the end of the month (no bosses). Right before billing. Great timing, huh? That's ok. I will be gone over billing next July, and he will have to do it all himself! Assuming we are still in business. :teeth:
It's almost Friday! Hang in there. :Pinkbounc

Husker4040
09-09-2005, 08:05 AM
I sent you a PM with my email. Who do you guys play this weekend? We have Wake Forest. Our new QB's old school. That should be interesting. :teeth: The way I look at it, it's going to be a beautiful night for a game, and hopefully our offense can pick it up a little this week.
294 days!! I'm ready to go now. Ok, not really, but I can pretend! We had the same issue with shopping that you had. Not much out there this year. We have looked just about everywhere, and have found very little we liked. Girls are already buying homecoming dresses, so those should go on clearance pretty quickly.
ldb1030
09-09-2005, 09:02 AM
Yep, we play at 9:30am tomorrow morning!!!!!!!!!!!!! :confused3
What is up with that?? Guess I can just say in bed and watch in my jammies!! :rotfl:
I just realized I'm VERY sad! :guilty: This time last year, we were getting ready to leave on our cruise!! Our mystery cruise that is! Same situations seem to be happening again! Ahhhhhhh can't believe it was a year ago!
We sailed 9/11/04 and flew down on 9/10/04!
Now I'm going to cry all day!!!!!!!! :sad1: :sad1:
Husker4040
09-09-2005, 09:06 PM
Ahhh...don't be sad! :Pinkbounc Look at it this way, it's only 42 weeks. That will go by in no time at all. We have Halloween coming up in just over a month, then it will be Thanksgiving, followed closely by Christmas! Then mid April we will be making our final payments, and be in the short countdown! See, it will go fast, you'll see.
Why in the world are they playing at 9:30 tomorrow?? :confused3 That is an obnoxious time for a football game! Ours is another night game. That's fine with me. Our side of the stadium is in the shade by the time we get there. :cheer2:
ldb1030
09-10-2005, 08:04 PM
I'm TRYING to watch your football game right now if my daughter would leave the channels alone!!
We sure got lucky this am!! They should have won by much more than that!
I'm sure it was because of the E A R L Y start time!!! :rotfl2:
I'm STILL sad about being on our cruise a year ago tomorrow! Makes me very homesick! :guilty:
Husker4040
09-13-2005, 08:11 AM
I watched your game also! Holy cow. One call away from a loss. Yikes! I'm sure it was the early start. :rotfl2: Oklahoma almost lost again. I was astounded at how bad they looked. About our game, let's just say I'm glad we have a defense this year!! They are outstanding! :cheer2: Our defense out scored our offense 3 to 1. :rotfl:
Don't be sad! Only 290 days until our cruise. It is starting to go pretty fast. I have to start thinking about about getting my house ready for fall, it's coming on fast!
ldb1030
09-13-2005, 01:47 PM
yeah, my cats :paw: can't play anymore games like that! I just can't take it!! :scared: They are off this weekend thank goodness!!!
Time IS starting to go fast now! Still can't believe we have so few people on our ship that visit this DIS board! :confused3
Husker4040
09-14-2005, 08:01 AM
I know what you mean about not being able to take the close games! We need to find an offense, and soon! Maybe this will help. :wizard: :rotfl:
We'll just have lots of room to spread out! More food for us!
ldb1030
09-19-2005, 10:14 AM
Okay, this time last year I was SUPER depressed :guilty: since we had just finished our "mystery cruise"!!
Went to JC this weekend! Since my Cats :paw: had the weekend off, I did not do too much panicing! Did you guys win?
Husker4040
09-20-2005, 07:45 AM
We won, but by the skin of our teeth!! :bitelip: We have GOT to find an offense somewhere. Our defense and special teams won this one. We won 7-6, and won by blocking a last second (literally, one second on the clock) field goal. I can't take any more games like that.
How was JC last weekend? I would like to get back there one day. I think one of DH's truck things happens down at the state park in Manhattan. Maybe one day. I'm getting ready this week for my folks to come home from vacation, and my inlaws to arrive, all on the same day.
283 days and counting! Any good flight deals? I haven't had time to look. Maybe I'll call my TA.
ldb1030
09-20-2005, 12:00 PM
Not any good deals yet! None that I would take anyway!
Still feels like summer here!! JC was fine! Actually spent all of Saturday in Hillsboro at that huge craft fair! I go every year with one of my sisters!
I'm working every day this week which I'm bummed about :guilty: BUT it's more $ for the cruise fund so I can live with it! :Pinkbounc
Husker4040
09-21-2005, 07:40 AM
It's going to be VERY hot here today, but then fall like weather going forward. I'm ready. Unfortunately, it is then followed by :cold:
I'm with you on the work! I never intended to go back to work full time, but here I am. Oh well, like you, I figured it was more money in the trip fund, and got over it. :rotfl:
I like craft fairs, I can never seem to find the time to go anymore. Oh well. I've still got football! :cheer2:
ldb1030
09-26-2005, 10:30 AM
Okay, I feel like I have not posted in forever!!! Working 5 days a week does NOT agree with me! :rotfl2: Glad I'm back to my 3 days this week!
No cool fall weather yet but I know it's coming! Cruise is not far behind!!!
How did your huskers do over the weekend or were they off?
My cats :paw: had a great blow out!!!
Husker4040
09-28-2005, 07:34 AM
We had a bye week last week. Good thing, I can't get my voice back. We start conference play this weekend with Iowa State. We'll see if the offense shows up. :teeth:
It is going to be cold here today! It's low 60's right now, and that is the high. Temps will be falling into the 50's by this afternoon. Then back to about 80 by the end of the week. Go figure. Just when you think fall is here, summer makes one last come back. :confused3
I need to get back to thinking about the cruise. Ok, maybe when football season is over I can get back to the cruise. :rotfl: I have to get my act together and start sending out info and links to the rest of our group.
ldb1030
09-28-2005, 02:18 PM
I'm excited because my CATS :paw: on on TV this weekend and next!
That does not happen too often!
The cruise has kind of been in the back of my mind lately because Jim and I are headed to Vegas for our anniversary in about 11 days :hourglass so I've been trying to deal with that! Should still be pool weather so that makes me happy!! :sunny:
When I get back I'll REALLY be in 'cruise-mode'!
Husker4040
09-29-2005, 07:45 AM
The Huskers on are TV this weekend too. It's a home game, so I'll be there. We have home games this weekend and next, 2 away games, then Oklahoma. I heard something interesting this morning on the way to work. They are asking people to donate their Kansas State tickets to a Veteran in honor of Veterans Day. That's pretty cool. Good thing I'm married to one! :Pinkbounc
I think homecoming is happening all around town pretty soon. That means the dresses will go on clearance right after that. I need to make sure and not miss that. I think this is about the same time we found them last year. I need to start sending links and info to others in our group, other than that, I have more immediate things to deal with right now. :teeth:
ldb1030
10-03-2005, 09:33 AM
Well my Cats :paw: bit the dust this weekend! Not even sure it was them playing they were SO bad!
And your huskers got lucky that's for sure! Got to see most of it but had to miss the very end because I had to get to chuch. When I got home my husband filled me in and I could not believe it! :scratchin
Well the ONLY thing getting me through this week is thinking about leaving on Sunday to Vegas! :wizard:
Not that I have ANY business going there and throwing $$$$$$ away!!!!!
Husker4040
10-03-2005, 05:32 PM
You are certainly right about my Huskers getting lucky. The one good thing to come of this game, besides lots of confidence, is the fact that our offense figured out how to all work together at the same time. :cheer2: They could move that ball anywhere on that field but the endzone. Guess we know what they will be working on this week. :rotfl:
Sorry to hear about your Wildcats! :sad2: I watched part of that game, and neither team looked all that strong. Did you hear about the explosion outside the stadium? How terrible! :(
Have a great trip to Vegas!! I'll be thinking of you.

Hey guys,
Sorry guys, I have been absent from the boards and from life. As Patti knows, my dad is going through some medical issues and life has been crazy. I hope it won't effect us going on the cruise, and I doubt it will. Other than that, I am trying to get back on my eating correctly. Time is getting short, so I had better get my but in gear.
Take Care guys--Deb

Deb-hope all is well with your Dad! We went through some stuff with my Dad recently and I know it can be very hard! Sending good thoughts your way! :sunny:
We just got back from our anniversary trip to Vegas! Had a great time! A much needed getaway that's for sure! We loved staying at Caesars! They really spoiled us! Did not win any money but came home with some so I guess that's good enough right?! :rotfl:

Lisa - Glad you had a great trip! I am really burned out right now, and could use a few days away. Since it's not to be, I will suck it up and move forward. :rotfl:
We are having beautiful fall weather here. I wish I was going to be home this weekend to enjoy it, but there is always next weekend.
Wow, we are down to 258 days! Guess I better get this other stuff cleared out of the way, and start thinking about the cruise again. The time will get away from me before I know it.
Have a great weekend!

10-19-2005, 07:09 AM
Good morning! The weather was VERY warm here yesterday, but today is more like late fall. It's about 49 right now :cold: , and they are calling for a high of 60. I don't mind that too much. I didn't care for yesterday's heat.
My mom and I have some shopping to do for the trip, but I need to do some research on a couple of things first. I have one more computer show to get through, then I can concentrate on the cruise. I'm looking forward to that.

Well my cats lost it Saturday! :paw: :guilty: I think sometimes losing by 2 points is more heartbreaking than losing by alot!
I had to drive to JC Saturday morning for my nephew's birthday party and never even gave it a thougth that I would be in traffic with all the CAT fans and a few Texas A&M fans even! Sorry about the loss! We lost too. I'm concerned that there isn't going to be anything left of the ports before we go!! I'm still planning, and we will do something! Thank goodness for the insurance if something happens. That would be a lot of money to be out. I just want it all to go well, and be FUN!
ldb1030
10-25-2005, 10:01 AM
Don't worry! The ship will take us somewhere! Half the fun is being ON the ship! Last year instead of Key West, Grand Cayman, Cozumel and CC, we ended up at Nassau, San Juan and CC! So it was not bad but not where were WANTED to go! Weather was wonderful cuz they keep you so far away from the hurricanes! :sunny:

I don't really care where we go. I just wish it was closer than 245 days away! That's ok, we just have to get through another winter, then the time will fly!! :cheer2:
Who do you guys play this weekend? We have Oklahoma, at home. Should be a good game. Our guys are fired up after the loss last week at Missouri. I'm very glad to see Brad Smith run out of eligibility!! :rotfl2:

We had a heartbreaker against icky Colorado!!! My sister flew in all the way from San Franciso for this game and we blew it by a field goal!!!
I had to listen to it on the radio! :guilty: Mom/Dad and a couple of sisters went!
Our high school team is doing well though! We have the bi-district game tonight at home! Wish us luck! They are doing much better than my cats! :paw:
Had a birthday over the weekend and it made me feel better to think this would be my last b-day before the cruise!!!! :rotfl2:

Happy Birthday (belated)!! We lost to Oklahoma. We have Kansas this week, and your Cats next week. Then we have icky Colorado the day after Thanksgiving. I just want us to go to a bowl game this year! One more win.
I have to start spending some time on the cruise now. Things have been so busy lately!! I am gone every night most weeks. This week was Halloween on Mon (would have been the gym), Tue night is Sara's class, Wed is the gym, tonight Sara has a band concert. She made Jazz Band playing a new instrument. She has played Alto Sax for 4 years, and her band instructor wanted her to play the Baritone this year. She is doing well, doesn't practice enough. I'm hoping there is nothing tomorrow night. I'm tired and need a break. :rotfl:
I promised our group I would start sending them info this weekend. I will point them to this thread, and the Disboard. Have a great weekend! We are having kind of an Indian summer here. Almost 80 yesterday and today, then back to the 50's over the weekend.

I'm just praying right now that your huskers beat the chickenhawks!!!
I NEVER EVER EVER want the chickenhawks to win! We are at Iowa State and the way we've been playing, I'm not real confident but hope they surprise me! :paw:
Had my first "freaky-cruise-dream" last night! The closer we get, the more I'll have! I was dreaming that we were cruising and we had to get away from a hurricane so we were going to another port.......guess where we ended up..............Italy!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl2: Don't ask me how my mind came up with that one!! :rotfl: I was all freaked out because my passport is expired and I did not know what I was going to do in Italy without a passport!! OH MY! It's only just begun!!
TD!!!!!!!! CATS!!!!!!!!! YIPPY!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm listening to the game on the internet since there is no tv!!!!! :paw: :paw: :paw:
Okay, sorry about that!
Our Augusta High School plays in the regional playoffs tonight! SO ANXIOUS!
We are playing a rich-private school out of Wichita.........our boys are pumped so we'll be okay............I hope! Alexa is excited about dancing at 1/2 time!
Good luck to all our teams this weekend!!

How did your high school do this weekend? We know how our teams did. :confused3 I don't know what has happened to our team this year! Saturday is our last home game (against you-know-who :paw: ), and then we have Colorado. That is a no win situation. I watched them dimantle Missouri over the weekend. Crap. On the positive side, Colorado will take the Big 12 North, and they get to play Texas. I'm looking forward to that game!! :rotfl:
LOL on the cruise dreams! I did do some work on the cruise over the weekend. I have been doing research on 2 way radios. I found a couple of Cobra's I liked (it takes a lot to keep 21 people connected), and just happened to look at Wal-Mart on Saturday. They were cheaper than the other places I had seen them, and it has everything we need. So, I called my mom, and she will pick them up. That's part of what us kids are all getting for Christmas. I need to buy another 2 sets (my kids and inlaws), and my sister has to buy a set for her inlaws. Hey, they can pick up the weather warnings, so I'll let you know if we need to go to Italy!! :rotfl2:
I'm already thinking about Christmas! I need to get started on that. The girls are getting cruise related things. I told them they could each get a portable game system. They have GameBoy's, but I think the PSP or the Nintendo DS would be better. Of course, they each want something different. No trading games. I need to figure out what to get Sara for her Bday, it's in 2 days.

WE WON!!!!! It was sooooooo exciting! Packed! Not a seat to be had!
Was really fun and the kids are so proud, as they should be!! We now play again Friday night against the ONLY team that beat us this year! Wish us luck! AND we have to go THERE to play! :guilty:
Now, my cats :paw: on the other hand..........I'd rather not discuss......please be nice to them this coming weekend is all I can say!!!
I'm glad YOU are thinking about Christmas!! Cause I'm sure not!! I need to get on that!!
Tell Sara happy birthday! Oh my sister has the nintendo DS and loves it!

Congrats on your game!! Unfortunately, we need your Cats to make a Bowl Game. Anyone can beat us when we hand them the game like we have done the last 2 weeks. Sigh.
I have started making my lists for the cruise again. I figure if I do it now, that is one less thing I have to do before Christmas. I want to do as much as I can now and get it out of the way. I need to start talking to my TA about the trip again, and get our ducks in a row. We just got notice the port fees went up something like $6/person. I'm so excited to go since I haven't seen my brother & sister and their families in a couple of years! I have a niece I haven't met yet. It will be SO MUCH FUN!! 234 days, per your count down! :cheer2:

Well, your huskers helped ruin my weekend!! First my HS team lost Friday night in the playoffs, a HEARTBREAKING 14-13!!!!! Came down to the last 6 seconds! More than my heart could take!
Then my cats lose in the last minute! Can't believe it was not on TV!!!! Would have made for a MUCH more exciting game than the ku chickenhawks and TX!
Then Sunday my Chiefs blow it! Okay,so the only team to make me happy were my Denver Broncos!
Geeeeeeeeeez, what a weekend! :guilty: :guilty: :confused3 :confused3

It's always sad when a coach leaves. The state was devastated when Osborne stepped down. It was shocked when Solich was fired. Do you think he had any pressure with back to back losing seasons to step down?
BRRRR! :cold: I need to start working on my crusie stuff and thinking warm thoughts. The windchill is 9 this morning, and I'm freezing! :cold: I did, however, see a man riding his motorcycle. :moped: The temp is 20. That is a hardy individual.

No, no pressure for Snyder to retire! If that were the case, most coaches would be gone! No one, and I mean no one wanted him to retire........except maybe his family! Think they had the most to do with it! Sweet win over Missouri for his last game!!! :flower:

I agree, nice win over Missouri. I don't think they have won since beating us. Talk about leaving it all on the field. We have Colorado on Friday. Not good. Maybe with a little magic :wizard: and some trick plays, we could pull it out.
Have a great Thanksgiving!! It's nice here today, but we have a cold front coming in tonight, and high in the low 30's tomorrow, with falling temps. Time to jump back into cruise prep! Wal-Mart had some disposable cameras on clearance. It was a pack of 2 camera's, one being an underwater camera. I bought the girls one, and one for the nieces and nephews. How fun!
Have a great weekend! :cheer2:

Count us in for 7/01/06. I booked our room last September through inventory control for a Cat 3. I just bought the Airline tickets for a good price from Jet Blue and Song ( I split them because Jet Blue wanted double for the departure) So as Peter Pan said.... Away we go......

What is with those Colorado fans?? They have some serious issues don't you think?!
We had a nice turkey day! Went to Manhattan to see the Cat's b-ball game Wed. night! That was fun! OMG Alexa found Bill Snyder and had her picture taken with him on her picture phone!! :flower: He was SO nice to her!

Husker and IDB,
This will be our fourth Disney Cruise, but our first seven nighter. We ( wife and two preteen kids) will be arriving into MCO late Thursday and plan to go to a waterpark on Friday. If I may be so bold, who are Lisa and Deb ???
Husker4040
12-01-2005, 08:06 AM
Lisa is ldb, and Deb hasn't logged on for a while, but I will remind her to check in. In fact, she lives in CT also.
What ages are your kids? We will have kids in just about every age group. I think Deb has 2 preteens of her own.
Lisa - I looked at the pictures you sent me. Great picture of Alexa! Any news on a new coach yet? The Riley pictures....Holy Cow!! :sad2: That is quite a bit of damage for such a late season storm.
I'm freezing to death here. :cold: I want to finish my Christmas shopping next week, and after my show next weekend, can concentrate on the cruise! Think warm thoughts when we can't get the temp to go above 20.
I don't know about the CU fans. They are like that in our stadium also. The big difference is that we don't sell beer. Where was security during the entire game with this going on? Everybody I know stopped going to away games at CU and MU. Both stadiums sell beer. :drinking1
ldb1030
12-01-2005, 10:38 AM
Yea, selling beer at any college game is just a stupid idea if you ask me!
And it's not always the students that act like idiots, most of the time it's the adult "fans" :guilty:
No news on the coach as of this second but sounding like a really YOUNG guy is in the running?! Wish they'd announce it soon!
I sent you another picture of the cemetary at Ft. Riley that I received today!
Strange!
Ahhhhhhhh the cruise! yes, once the holidays are over, it's time to concentrate on the cruise!!!!
Alexa has her Jingle Bell Ball Saturday night and she's going to freeze her you-know-what off!!! :cold: :cold: :cold:

Wow on the pictures of the cemetary! :sad2:
How did the Jingle Bell Ball go? Did she freeze her patootie off? :cold:
I'm freezing again today. Right now the temp is 3. They just keep talking about there being no wind to add a windchill. 3 is cold enough thanks. We have more snow coming today, we got about 4" on Saturday. I'm tired of that already too! They are starting to soften the forecast by saying about an inch of fluffy snow today. WHAT??
Have a great day, and keep thinking warm thoughts!
P.S. Was that a great game on Saturday (Texas & Colorado), or what??? :cheer2:

Hello Tony--you may be so bold. I am Deb. LOL! I don't write much, but I do read. I subscribed to the web, so it comes to me.
I am still in the counting down the months. Soon it will be weeks, then hours. LOL! My SIL is suppose to also be going with her family, but she may be second guessing the trip. We'll see.
I have had sooooo much going on at home, that I haven't been on the board much. But, I think everything is under control---including Christmas shopping.
We are also from CT (who else is) and are heading down on Wednesday to do a few days at Universal Studios. We are in one of the suites also booked through inventory control. It is our 3rd Disney Cruise 7 day but our first on their Western. Personally, I would just love a cruise to nowhere. After 4 other non-disney cruises and several vacations to the islands, I usually spend most of the time on the ship enjoying the suite.
my kids are Son turning 5 on cruise, daughter 8 and another daughter turning 12 on cruise.

Hi Deb! :wave2: I figured you would be back soon. Wow, we are down to about 205 days. :cool1: Since it's about -8 + windchill here today, I could stand to do some thinking about the cruise. However, I have one last show and Christmas to get through before I can focus on that. I hope to finish my shopping, or most of it anyway, on Friday. I want to have one year that I'm not freaking out the few days before trying to get the shopping done!
I think Tony is also from CT. Has your SIL decided what to do on the trip yet? I don't think we will have anyone back out, but we'll see what happens come 1 April. Have a great day! We are preparing to shovel again. Another 5" possible today. :cold:

We aren't hearing a lot about your new coach up here. I did hear he got a pretty good special teams guy from North Dakota. I think he was defensive coordinator there. It will be interesting to see what happens with the program under a new coach. I think recruiting will pick up under a younger coach. Under Callahan, our recruiting went through the roof! It looks like we will have another top recruiting class.
Barnett - well what can you say? :sad2: What's interesting is that his summer camp is being investigated for large cash advances to coaches and some sort of car deal. I think that program will do well under a new coach. Their donors aren't giving any money, and the players complain about facilities, etc. The fans certainly need to be taught some manners. The right coach can make all of those problems right.
Did your parents get the power back on? What a terrible time of the year to be without power! Scary. We had more snow last night. I'm getting tired of that already. But, they are saying 40 for Sunday! :sunny: The only problem is that is my last show is Sunday, so I will miss any nice weather. The upside of that is it is the last show! Then I can get my Christmas stuff done, and start thinking about the cruise. :cool1:
ldb1030
12-12-2005, 10:27 AM
Yes, my parents got the power back! Were not without it too long but long enough when it's that cold and you're older! :guilty:
Had a busy weekend! Bake sale for the dance team, Christmas shopping etc...I'm not in the mood to be at work today so I'll just dream all day about the cruise! The nice thing about being in a travel agency is I can spend time looking at brochures of wonderful places and it "LOOKS" like I'm working!! :rotfl2:

We are under 200 days! I just noticed your counter. Wow, it's starting to go fast now. I really need to sit down and get everyone in my group checking the boards. Maybe this weekend. There is always so much to do, and so little time to do it.

Greetings from Chicago!
Well, the wife our 2 DD's (7 & 11) will be on the cruise too! We're even missing a Cubs/Sox series for it!
Originally, we wre trying to get a bunch of friends with us on the trip, but when the rubber hit the road, it was like herding cats. So most likely just us. First cruise since December 2001. Was able to get a "secret porthole" room on deck 5!
We're doing a week onsite before the cruise too.
See you there!

Welcome MrShiny! :wave2: We have a bunch of girls in that age range! I think Deb's girls will be 8 & 12. I have a niece that will be either 9 or 10, and tonyspad has 2 preteen kids. Mine are a little older 13 & 14.
Is it cold in Chicago? It's not bad in Nebraska right now, but last week we were freezing to death! :cold:
Lisa, what's the weather in KS? Did you get any of the rain that came through here yesterday? That was miserable.
Anyone done Christmas shopping yet? I'm close, but need about another day to finish. I may head out early Saturday and hopefully get done before the crowds hit the stores. Or, if all else fails, I'll shop online! :bounce:

Lately, it isn't too cold (28 right now) - but it has been a little snowy. ad one rush hour snow of about 6" and are supposed to get another 5-6" today.
The coldest is when I was in Disneyland right after Thanksgiving. Sad, I was out there with friends, there was a Santa Ana condition, so it was sunny and I the high 70's while it was in the single digits back home.
Its been a huige Disney year for us! It all started in 2003 when I miscounted the days on our Disneyland passes (we went out there for Thanksgiving - we had been out there in '97 (just me and my wife) and in '01 with the family - with smaller kids, we liked it a lot as there is a lot less walking!).
Anyway, the ticket booth guiy nicely let me upgrade to AP's (cheaper than buying just the one day admission for all of us!) so we returned in summer '04. I had a few friends out there from dizpins and rapd (rec.alt.parks.disneyland). I applied for a position on the Disneyland Create Advisory Council and got in! So I had 2 meetings out there (also went back for the Haunted Mansion Hoiday party by myself).
We of course couldn't resist the 50th, so we came out (with the family this time) for July 17th. We also had gone to the "This Is Love" event last year at WDW, and ended up buying into DVC! Our first DVC trip (with the AP's we got from buying) was this June.
With the DVC points, the AP'sand our Southwest Rapid Rewards, we also came to WDW for the MNSSHP.
Then, as I said, i went out with some of my gamer buddies to Gen Con So Cal at the Anaheim Con center right after Thanksgiving.
So 2005 was full of trips!
By the way, if you have neve been to DL, consider it! The parks look wonderful now for the 50th (and because Matt Ouimet, formerly of DCL, is pouring money into them!). Imagine all the rides of the MK (plus actually a lot more) placed into the space of MGM. In fact, if you count just rides that actually move (as opposed to movies, shows and walk-throughs) DL and DCA have more than the 4 WDW parks together! I still prefer WDW as my main destination, but DL is a place to go (especially since they fixed it up!).
Add to that youn can get a great motel room across the street for peanuts, and it makes a great trip (maybe I'll bring some of my DL pics with me!)
MrShiny
12-14-2005, 02:08 PM
BTW, I know we hardly know what ports we'll actually be visiting, but has anyone thought about what shore excursions they might be doing?
Also, I see Pirates of the Caribbean 2 is due to be released on July 7. Wonder if we'll get to see that aboard...
Husker4040

Wow, you have had a great Disney year! We have been to both DL and DW. This is our first cruise, of any sort.
Once I get through my Christmas stuff, I can concentrate on the cruise and excursions. I have a few things I have listed as "must do", but overall, haven't had time in months to spend with it.
From what I understand, PC2 will be shown on board starting at midnight, I think. Not sure if this is the case, but I did read that on the board somewhere.

Hello Mr. Shiny,
We will have 2 dd's going as well---8 and my oldest turning 12 the 2nd day of the cruise. We also have a son turning 5 toward the end.
This will be our third Disney Cruise as a family--although ds's first. My dh and I have been cruising for quite a while and love it.
As far as excursions for us, I will try and get the stingray city. I've snorkled and dove it but actually prefer snorkling. Doing it for the 2 older ones although we will probably bring the younger one for the ride. We have been to the islands, so I imagine we may get off for a quick jaunt and then enjoy the ship. I enjoy the spaciousness of the ship on port days. If there is a regatta anywhere--I may book that as well. I enjoy Cayman. Will definitly get off to get some rum cakes. Enough so that I can devour some on board and still bring some home.
We will have to try and meet up at castaway cay so our kids have someone to swim with. It will keep us out of the water. LOL! All I remember about the last cruise is how HOT!! CC was. OMG. We went Apr 04 and I almost passed out. I can't imagine in July. I may see about getting a cheap sun enclosure in Florida before we leave to bring with us. I never can get out there in enough time to get an umbrella.
Patti and I have been members of a small AOL email group for 9 years now and have met in person once. LOL! So, I will definitely be setting up a place to meet during the sail away party. There is usually someone who gets a dis-meet together. Everyone makes up Mickey tags. We'll figure that out before we leave. It is nice to see familiar faces throughout the trip and the kids can have a chance to get together.
My sil and her family are scheduled to be joining us, but I am not confident that they aren't going to back out.
July can't come fast enough.

Hey ya'll! I don't have time right at the moment to read this 10+ page thread but I'm so excited I had to post that I just gave my deposit for the trip! We have 4 kids going, Jack will be 3 weeks shy of 2, Mikey will be 3, Ryan will be almost 14 and Katie will be 16! We had to get two rooms and we're on deck 7 outside cabins. There were luckily two adjoining rooms left, whew. We were on the 4 day Wonder last July and loved it and so we decided to skip DW this time and just do 7 nights at sea! I'm so excited!

One of your long time coaches was cut and wants to come here, but I think the job was offered to a CU guy. After our last 3 games, I can't wait to see what happens next year! :cheer2:
Have a great weekend everyone!

Hey Patti- Well, the house cleaning always seems to happen when a new coach comes along! It's to be expected I guess! I hear nothing but good things! Can't wait for football season!! :cool1:
I was talking to friends over the weekend and they can't believe it's time for our cruise AGAIN!!! They think I go all the time! I WISH!!!! :goodvibes
I really thought about the passports, mine expired also but can't decide if I can spend another $300.00 right now.......still thinking!

I just don't want the hassle of having to tote birth certificates. I would have to get copies for DH and I. I got copies of the girls right after I found out that I needed them to renew their passports.
I did get some cruise things done over the weekend. We found snorkel equipment on clearance. I'm kind of a germ freak :scared1: , so I thought it better to use our own. :rotfl: It was pretty cheap, so I don't feel too bad about spending the money. I also let everyone in our group know about the boards (anyone here yet?), and how to log on to see their reservation. I started passing along some links I found really helpful. I hope everyone else is getting as excited as I am! :cool1:

Check the current regulations for passports. I think they are requiring them now. Not sure. I remember reading something about it---but not sure if it was resolved that we do need them or not. I always have mine and keep a copy of it in the safe in the room. Mine needs renewal and my son needs one.
Keep counting down guys and give me warning when it is 150 days out--those in Cat 1-3 can register for excursions then.
I am trying not to think about it right now. It just seems like a life-time away and so much can happen between now and then. Patti knows--but my dad was diagnosed with brain cancer last August. Not wishing any time away right now. A cure would be great but on the level of a miracle. Just hoping for a few good years and that he is feeling good enough at the end of June to join us in Orlando before the cruise.

Hi Deb! Current regs on the passports is December 2007 now, I think. Here is a copy of the statement I just took off their page. The Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 requires that by January 1, 2008, travelers to and from the Caribbean, Bermuda, Panama, Mexico and Canada have a passport or other secure, accepted document to enter or re-enter the United States.
We have ours, they just need to be renewed. TODAY I will do passports....or I will try. :guilty: I got Sara's IB application done yesterday, so that is out of the way. A great big raspberry to all of those that can book excursions early! :rotfl2: That's ok. Our time will come. I'm getting really excited, and my younger daughter is just about beside herself. I can't imagine how bad it's going to get when they are getting to the end of the school year. :scared1: As you can tell, instead of working, I'm on the boards today. :( Too much boring work to do today!

I would suggest renewing the passports because a) easier to carry than birth certificates b) you will need them someday c) they will inevitably cost more in the future (and take longer with all the new applicants after the new rules go into effect).
The only other thing to remember is the requirement if you are traveling without both parents of a given child. I think it's Mexico that's really picky about you having papers showing you have the right to transport the child without the other parent (too many custody battles where one parent takes off to Mexico I think).

I agree MrShiny. We traveled back and forth to England for a couple of years, and are well used to having to use the passports. I started the paperwork today to get the renewals going. When we came back for the last time, we put them in the safe deposit box, and I didn't think about them again until right before they expired.

I knew the regulations had changed and they are now more strict. I used to always carry my passport when leaving the country. I always felt more secure with it. I do have to renew and my son needs one. I also bring along my birth certificate. CYA I always say.
Another suggestion is to make a couple copies of your passport and birth certificate. Leave one at home with a relative/friend and another in the safe on the ship. I even take a third and put them in separate places on us as we travel.
Some other cruise suggestions: Take along a couple cards with a magnetic strip--not credit cards or things you don't want to screw up. The safes are locked and unlocked by cards with magnetic strips. We used our Universal Studio Room keys as safe keys. A few lost their strip in the process which is why you don't want to use a credit card.
There are some really good posts on the main cruise board with tips and suggestions for the particular room you are in. You can always find someone who has stayed in it before. I've heard things from over the door shoe holder is a great plus for a crowded bathroom. Holds hair dryers, curling irons and such. I've heard of extension cords helping for bathrooms also.
Just post your room number with any suggestions welcome. You may even get pictures of the actual room.
You can also do this for any excursions you want as well as any spa. You can even find recent navigators (both kid's club as well as adults) to help you plan out your days. The funny thing is you can go beserk planning. On our first Disney Cruise I had put on outlook everything I wanted to do and those things I thought everyone else would want to do. Had it all color coded for each person. It looked cool. Printed it out and then threw it away. LOL!!
Gotta go get kids off to school.

I booked the July 1-8 Western Caribbean too!!!
I didn't read all 15 pages of this thread, but I think I read that there would be some 14 and 15 year olds.
My daughter Jennifer will be 15, and our son, Mark will be 11.

ldb1030: GREAT!!! We've actually done 2 previous Disney Cruises: the 3 day Wonder back in 2001, and the 7-day Eastern in 2002. Jennifer would LOVE to get to know some other teens before cruising. She's a bit shy, and feels a bit awkward if she's thrown into a group of strangers. You can e-mail us at home at ericdyken@yahoo.com
Husker4040: Weird weather, huh? I heard that the farmers here in Iowa are already in the fields, putting down fertilizer!!! They cannot remember a time that they've been able to do that in January!!!
Thanks for the reminder about the passports!!! We have ours, but the kids' expired last year (we got them in 2000 when we went to China). I'll work on that this weekend!!

Deb- I will give Alexa the email address and have her email Jennifer soon!
We have done the 4 day in 2000 and we also did the eastern in 2002! When did you guys go? We went the end of July that year! TIRED to do the western 9/04 but ended up in other ports thanks to hurricanes! That's why we're trying it again!
It is crazy weather! We had rain and cold today but tomorrow it'll be nice again! I think north of us they got snow. Did you get any Patti? :confused3

Ok, buckle you seatbelts! :moped: We went up to the courthouse to renew all of the passports. The girls I have to do in person since they are minors, and decided to just do them all at the same time since I had to go anway. Logical, huh? :rotfl2: All the woman at the window could tell me is she didn't know how to do renewals, and she would be happy to do new ones, adding the $30 per person processing charge. WHAT??? So then I started to explain to her that I had all of the forms filled out, pictures, old passports, etc. Then she said she wouldn't even know what to charge for renewals. I turned the sign around that was sitting on the counter and pointed to it. She finally walked away from me, apparently done with me. I was LIVID! I looked at the woman and made a comment about how easy it must be to get a gov't job since they will hire about anyone. Nasty, I know. She didn't even attempt to help me. That's what made me so mad. I called the Passport Agency yesterday and complained! She put a comment on their file that will be sent through the agency. So, now I get to go to Boystown Post Office for the girls. I'm going to mail ours since the lady told me there isn't any guarantee I won't run into that again.
We got flurries Lisa. Nothing more. We just bought a new truck (talk about bad timing!) and I know DH is anxious to get it out in the snow. Nope. He has 2 junker trucks to do that in! :teeth: Your new coach stole our QB recruit. :rotfl: That's ok, we think he changed his mind after seeing our 2nd string guy come in during the KSU game.
Deb - The farmers are putting down fertilizer? Our winter has been so dry I don't know that there is enough moisture in the ground do that here yet.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi everyone again! Lisa I just sent an email with my dd's email address so Alexa and her can chat. Welcome Deb in IA! Hopefully our girls will get together too! My son is 13 and will be in the teen club this time which he is very happy about, last July he was two months shy of 13 so we signed him up for Oceaneer's Lab but he still followed his sister to the teen club when she went.
We are also having wierd weather here in N.Y. It's going to be almost 60 here today! I want snow!!!
Has anyone thought about the excursions yet? My TA told me the sting rays are not to be missed! I have two little ones but hopefully my dh will watch them on the beach while me and the two older ones go snorkeling on Grand Cayman! Actually I would love to get certified to scuba before this trip. We went to Hawaii two years ago and I spent hours snorkeling on the north shore and swore to myself I would get certified before I went on another tropical vacation :fish:

Hi Melissa! My daughter Katie will be 16 next month and she is a huge Harry Potter fan too (as I can tell from your sig)!!
HI!
Just back from NYC! What a time we had!! :cool1:
I must say I'm glad to be back in my quiet little town! LOVED the trip but it's a whole other world there! :bitelip:
My friend and I kept saying that if we were coming back from a beach vacation, we would not be as anxious to get home! :dancer:
We are 20 miles from NYC and my dh takes the train into work every day. It is another world indeed from the burbs here in Long Island but we took the kids in to see the tree (Rockefeller Plaza) during Christmas and it's always fun. What did you guys see when you came?
From what I understand, PC2 will be shown on board starting at midnight, I think. Not sure if this is the case, but I did read that on the board somewhere.
OMG! My dd has seen Pirates about a hundred times and will faint if I tell her she'll get to see it on board!!! Has anyone heard a definate that they'll be showing it?

Jess has most of her dress clothes, and as they come out, I need to start buying shorts, etc for everyone. Of course, it's getting cold here again (I knew it couldn't last forever :sad2: ) I buy things here and there so I don't have to spend the time/money all at once.

Hey gang.
I just had to cancel my SIL from the trip. She decided she'd rather take her whole family out here to the East Coast (CT) to visit us then leave a few kids home. So--someone will be very happy today with a possible upgrade to a Cat 2.
Anyway, my roll call is: Deb (me), DH (who doesn't believe in the whole internet friends things LOL), DD 11 (turning 12 on 7/2), DD 8 (as friendly and as hyper as can be. Hopefully we make it through this cruise without having to visit the doctor onboard. lol), DS 4 (turning 5 on 7/7). This is our 3rd Disney cruise but my son's first. DH and I have cruised on other ships and are just cruise addicts.
Just received a packet in the mail with itineraries, balance due and when we can purchased online. Remember, you do have to be paid in full to purchase or reserve anything online---even if you can do it before the 60 day refundable date.
I don't follow college football---but do follow pro and my team (THE STEELERS) won the superbowl!!!!! Been waiting for quite a while for that to happen. Although, I don't feel as excited about it as I thought I would--maybe because it isn't the same team as in the 70's. But, I'll take it while I can. It gives me great joy that my dad can see his team win a superbowl before he gets beaten by cancer. Weird what simple things can bring joy.
As we get closer, we can arrange for a DIS meet onboard. Usually upper level on one side of the ship overlooking the sail away party.

I posted a few there myself :teeth: My dd hasn't emailed (Alexa, Jennifer, Melissa) anyone because was wrapped up in her school play rehearsals as well as planning her sweet sixteen next month! I just wish Southwest would start taking summer bookings! They still won't book past 6/9!
I also hope they reopen Pirates before the "official" reopening of 7/7. I'd like to see how they work Cap. Jack into the ride (and if all the rumors are true). Don't mind seeing Davy Jones (the tentacle haired ghost, not the Monkee) - he's cool looking. Reminds me of my favorite monster from fiction - Cthulhu (if you've never heard of it, just google - you'll get about 2,720,000 hits!).

We have had an insanely mild winter! Warmest January in recorded history in Nebraska. We have had only one or two small snow events, and those were all in November, I think. Nothing like you and Deb got this weekend. We can use the moisture, but did have rain about a month ago. It was cold all weekend, with wind chills and everything! :rotfl2: Sometimes I forget this is NE in the winter. Next weekend, however, we are looking at highs in the low teens, and snow. Of course, that all may change between now and then. I would love to have a job I only have to be right 50% of the time. :rotfl: My kids are jealous, they want a snow day.
