on the little gifts, what are we talking here? in all our cruises, we've never done this, so i'm at a loss...are we just doing a general exchange or must everything we're exchanging be state-specific? also, should i be getting seven day's worth of stuff for each or just one? are we buying for each person in a party or just one per stateroom? finally, what is the final count of people going and/or staterooms to be bought for?

sorry to be so dense!

We have litle pockets for our doors that the gift fairy drops litle nickknacks in occasionally. Its however many times you want to do it. It can be something little to eat :cheer2: , something from your state, some cute $1 store item, whatever. Nothing elaborate. I am not labeling mine ---I think it will be an easy guess.

We have some cabins that have 2 people in them that are not related so we decided to treat them seperate. I believe our count is 12 entities. (9cabins)
There are 28 people in our group. I decided to do a door sign for WRH3MD and try and bring them back in once onboard because they may be like Skeegan and I who were here so long ago and there was no action and gave up thinking "no group this time" I know diznekids also did not realize we were looking for them.

What has happened to poohs4me? I felt so bad making up their sign with no names and no cabin number and no picture.

I don't think that we will be anonymous either with our gifts....we will probably make little gift tags to go with them.

So we have a total of 12 party's to buy for....(9cabins) not too bad considering a few weeks ago we thought there were just a couple of us on this cruise....

Today is my last day here at work!! All I need to do is get through the next 7 hours and I'll be in VACATION MODE!!!! :cheer2: Anybody else ready for the Sail Away party??????...lol :rotfl:

I am so ready to go. I am also on my last day of work before vacation :cool1: and am having a hard time concentrating on work. I would much rather be outside in the 90 degree weather I ordered to get me into the vacation mode.

I can't wait until we get on the cruise and leave, then whatever you forgot to pack doesn't matter. We will be at Disneyland also a few days before the cruise. I am trying to pack a little each day. I was just laying out swimsuits tonight and doing laundry.

I hear ya!!! In about 1 hour I will be able to consentrate all my attention to PACKING!!!!...lol....

Did anybody else see that DCL is doing a big celebration tomorrow for the 1st sailing from a West Coast port???? How cool is that! Too bad we aren't on that sailing...oh well...I hope they do something special for all the cruises! :)

Aahh! I'm freaking out! :scared: We leave on Wednesday, all I have is 3/4 of the carry on bag packed. I haven't printed the magnets or the tags and they still need to be cut out, I haven't done t-shirts, I have no pirate gear, I haven't even finished shopping to buy the stuff I need to take and now my MIL is here as a house guest until Tuesday expecting us to chat and entertain her when all I really want to do is run around like a crazy woman :hyper: getting ready and chatting on the dis boards with people who understand.

I can NOT believe the ship is pulling into California tomorrow morning and the first west coast cruise begins and then we're next!

Those poor repo cruisers seem shocked that their time is up. Too Bad    Now its gettin closer to our turn.

Yeah, I went running around all day today getting stuff. Trying on dress clothes and my son realizes his dress shoes are too tight. Other son thinks belt doesn't quite fit,....And if it makes anyone feel any better, the pirates of the caribbean store did not have their old pirate costumes just lots of pirate tshirts. So my middle son had a pirate costume, I think I am going to have Blake wear a pair of red pants, black belt and a white shirt with bandana hat, my oldest got a tshirt and hat, don't know what DH intends to do, but as for myself,I bought a peasant skirt at "Dillards" and a white top. I will also wear a pirate bandana.

I don't remember was one of you asking about the golden mickey ears? They had them in the park tonight. The other thing I saw that was kinda neat is an anniversary edition of the Disneyland Train in gold. It was packed and right after fireworks it began to pour. We were so far from the front entrance and it was so crowded that we were soaked within 5 minutes. I am still shivvering.

See there is one advantage to leaving last......I have a few more days than you guys to pack and without anyone to chat with I will be lonely :guilty: and get my work done. Just think you guys in a few days we don;t get to chat with each other to we meet up on board. :wave2: :wave2: I will be anxious to meet up with you guys at Scoops :mickeybar and the Mickey Pool :cold: just to hear all about your California adventures. ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

I have yet to figure out what this guy is doing or when to use him--- :badpc:

Okay you guys just thought I was a wimp---- the repo report said they were all cold on deck and noone was in pool today. I think they said 60s in the daytime. If this is the case we may not be at the Mickey pool.

Well I am now officially off work!!! YEA!!!!..... :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: Now it's time to get things started. Mickeyfan66 & I went shopping tonight and I think that we pretty much have our "fairy gifts".....now...how to fit it all in the luggage!!!..lol.... :rotfl2:

Hopefully the weather will warm up by next Saturday! That way we can start our cruise the right way!!! A little dip in the pool!!! and let's not forget the :mickeybar !!!!!

I hope that the May 28th cruisers will post quickly and let us know the official Itinerary!!! I'm anxious to see what Disney has planned for us. I really hope that they do something for the 50th celebration...since that is why the Magic is on the west coast. You would think that they would right??!!

Hello Everyone!
We are new to these boards and this is our first post. I am surprised to see that most of the users to this topic do not reside in the Western states. The Magic coming to the Pacific is a dream come true for a lot of Disney fans in the West that have not been able to make it out to Florida. We are native Californians and very frequent visitors of Disneyland. We would be happy to answer any questions someone may have.We will be in Disneyland on the 3rd. Four people make up the The Memory Makers: DH,DS-7,DS-3 and myself. Stateroom #6034. This cruise celebrates our 10th wedding anniversary :love2:

Welcome MemoryMaker! ::MickeyMo I have a question for you. Is it unusally cool out there right now? I can't believe the people on the repo cruise saying it was in the 60s!! I hope that is not the norm. temp or I may have to rethink my 1st day clothes. I was planning on wearing shorts and a t-shirt, just like I always do in Florida. Any advice you can give would be helpful. Thanks

I just went n the 10 day forecast for LA and this weekend was in the 60s Today is 68. Next weekend however is supposed to be mid 70s with lows of high 50s. That is still slightly cool for a Florida girl. Remember when you are on the open ocean it is probably cooler still because of the breeze. I'll have to find the link to the DCL pool temps.

:cold: brrr - even from Utah that's a bit cold for swimming. I read this on the Disney Cruise website, but it might still be to cold.

"The pools are heated when the water temperature drops below 75 degrees."

Filling out the cruise documents today. BTW, does anyone know what to do with the signature line on the passports for little ones? It say's it's not valid if not signed, but I'm not sure if I should sign her name, sign my name, or leave it blank.

Never mind - I found the info on the passport website. In case anyone else was looking for this.

In the space provided for the signature, the mother or father must print the child's name and sign their own name. Then, in parenthesis by the parent's name, write the word (mother) or (father) so we know who signed for the child.

I would imagine the first day would be all that would be cold and then maybe the last. I know Cabo weather was ALOT warmer (90) on forecast.

Alright girls help me remember that I promised someone from DIS boards that I would search for a coloring book in the gift shop.

They said they weren't allowed to board til noon. If this holds for our cruise as well, look for us in line. We can jump start the mickey pool introduction. Last cruise the DIS folks all boarded together and were announced as the DIS family. That would be alot of fun. I am still going to aim for arrival BY 11 am I think. Its either wait 1 hour before they start or come when the line is long and then wait an hour.

We finished our "fairy gift" shopping today! Now time to pack it all!!!!..lol We are going to try to get on the first shuttle from Paradise Pier in Dland to the port! I really hope that they start early boarding. That would be great. Oh and I found a lime green shirt that I liked....so now I'll be wearing lime green like everyone else on embarkation day!! YEA!!!

Just think about this time (at least for us west coasters) we will be getting ready for drill and putting on the lovely life jackets!!!...lol I can hardly wait to go!!!

OK, so I am a little late but, Welcome to our new Cruisers! Glad to have you aboard.

I can't believe we are only a week away! I have pulled out the suitcases and am starting to get things organized to go. Now that I am off work and we have finished all our shopping, I have a few days to concentrate on nothing but getting things together.

As far as the weather goes, one of my co-workers was in Disneyland last week. She said it was so hot that they left the park to go to the pool. From what I was told, it was about 100 there last week. Hopefully it will be somewhere between that and the current temp when we arrive on Wednesday. (However, for those of us from Western Washington the 68 would be nice. :rotfl: :rotfl: Until the last couple of days we had not made it out of the 50's.)

I too have my green shirt. So I will be looking out for others when we get there. As Diznefan76 mentioned, we are going to do everything possible to get on that first shuttle at 10:00. That should put us there around 11:00 depending on traffic.

tarheel_girl
05-28-2005, 08:28 PM
Megara13 and I are going to try to be on the first shuttle from the airport. According to cruise docs the shuttles start running at 9:00am from there. We will hopefully be on that one. It would be great for all of us to actually get to meet in line before boarding. It'll be pretty obvious that we are all together with our line green on! :goodvibes

Tarheel and megara13---you think you will be there about 10am then? Do you leave at 9 or meet at 9? I would not think you would have a problem being so early and few flights in at that time. I truly think most people think you show up around noon-1pm. We should be there around the same time.

Mickeyfan and Disneyfan---why don't you come join us when you get there.?
We'll save you a place. I think MousseauMob was going to be there at 10-11 too. Hey you guys have fun at Disneyland. I couldn't convince my DH to go since we have WDW here. It would be nice to ride the different rides like Indiana Jones, Matterhorn, ....ok is that it?I know there is more. I think their Haunted Mansion and Pirates are so much better than ours although the last time I was there was 18 years ago. They may be the same now.

Hey I just got my daughter singing all the Hercules songs and now I heard its no longer one of their shows. But on the up side they said the new show is awesome.

I am wondering now if we are going to make our plane coming home. You know how usually at PC they dock at 4-5 am and start unloading? Well the photos show the boat in daylight coming into the harbor I think 6-7 am. Anyone else have a close flight out? I think ours is at 12:30. Oh well the worst that can happen is we miss our plane and have to go again on th Magic the next week .....LOL

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. We look forward to meeting as many of you as possible. Are the fairy gifts supposed to be from our hometowns/states?

CACruisin'- from Stockton to S.Diego; that's quite a change in scenery. Do you ever visit Stkn from time to time? The town has changed a lot recently.

tarheel girl- yes, the Summer type weather has been slow to start. But I am in No. Calif and last weekend we had some 90's, but right now were down to the low 70's.

diznefan76
05-28-2005, 10:19 PM
Judy- As soon as we get off the Disney bus we will start looking for the lime green shirts in line! Thanks so much for saving a spot for us in line!!!

TheMemoryMaker- The "fairy gifts" are just little tokens. They can be anything you want them to be. Candy, key chains, trinkets...etc..most of us ( I think) are giving something that represents our state that we are from. They are just a little something....nothing too big. Are you driving down to the port?

We hoping to be there about 10am. We are to meet the first shuttle at 9:00am, which means we'll be at the airport at 8:15am :teeth: . That will be awesome if we get there at the same time!! Our flight is out at 1:20pm. We were hoping that we'd get to the airport early enough to get on a 12:20 flight. IF we don't we won't actually get back to NC until 11:30pm. LONG day, but at least we're not having to drive.

Where is everybody today? I feel so lonely----kind of like I will be feeling at the end of the week when everyone else is standing in line for Space Mountain.

Hey the cruisers now said they arrived at 10:30 and were the first to board when boarding began. Tarheel girl and Megara13 too bad you already booked transfers we could have held 2 more in the van from airport.

Mickeyfan66
05-29-2005, 07:53 PM
Hopefully it won't be too cold. I know I have been to Disneyland when it has been cloudy and overcast in the morning and by early afternoon it was in the upper 70's. That is comfortable for walking around the park. However, with the wind from the water a light jacket may be needed. And here I thought I was done shopping.

If I have counted correctly, we are up to 12 cabins with our new cruisers. Am I correct? I don't want to miss anyone. We only have 2 days left to get anything else we may need to get so time is getting short. I can't wait. In only 3 days, we will be eating dinner in Downtown Disney.

MousseauMob
05-29-2005, 09:43 PM
We'll be packing some warmer items, just in case. I'll be wearing my green shirt regardless of the weather, but I may have my Disneyland jacket over it. We're planning on being there around 10:30.

Oh, and I've decided not to tag our gifts after all. You know, it was just one more thing I couldn't get done in time. But, I will post our list afterwards, in case anyone is struggling to guess.

Judy, I'll try and post later in the week, so you won't be to lonely! :wave2:

I was going through old costume stuff we have, looking for pirate gear. pirate: DD2 was SO thrilled by it. She put everything on and kept saying "I want more pirate costume." It was so cute!

I don't know, maybe we should leave the ones who have not been on the board out. I would just hate to make anyone uncomfortable if they didn't want to join. I would guess that if they were interested the would have come online or contact one of us onboard.

Well the cold and storm has finally reached us. Currently we have no power - I'm doing this from my phone. Send pixie dust our way that the storm abates before we have to start our long drive.

:sad2: Darn it, I just cut out the Tag Magnet and realized I didn't have WRH3MD stateroom of 8002 on it. I only have the 9 staterooms. I previously told Poohs4me that I would add them by hand when they let me know their stateroom number. I'm out of magnet sheets, so I can't reprint it. So my question is: Should I write 8002 in, or should I wait to see if they would like to be involved? :confused3 I'm probably oversensitive to this, but I know how uncomfortable I am when people are trying to get me involved in something I'm not interested in.

BTW - thanks everyone for the pixie dust. :wizard: The storm is clearing out nicely and I have high hopes our drive will be clear. I hope you all have a nice, smooth, and calm flight. Judy, I'm sending pixie dust your way that Blake naps or plays nicely for your flight. You're a brave woman, taking a toddler on a long flight. :worship:

:rotfl2: Ha, I went to weather.com to check San Pedro, clicked the link, got VERY excited my the mid-80's temps and then realized I was looking at San Pedro, Spain!!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl:

San Pedro, California was still low 70's and partly cloudy for our arrival.

I think you are right. I am bringing a door sign in case they want to be involved but for some reason never came back here after that first post. Who knows they may be more fun than all of us. (NEVER) I think it would be fine to add them later. We do not want our door magnet ending up on a door that is not participating in tag.

That is too funny about Spain. It probably will warm up by next weekend but it never hurts to come prepared. I took one pair of sweats on the XMas cruise and I think I wore the poor things out. Castaway Cay was frigid. The gift shops were totally sold out of sweats...

BTW we are planning on wearing our green even if its too cold and just having a windbreaker jacket on as well. I wish we could get green balloons.

hey guys...sorry I haven't been on the boards lately....I've been trying to get everything organized and packed...woo...what a job that is...I'm pretty much done....we leave early morning Wednesday so that leave tomorrow for last minute stuff.

Mouseaumob- I would wait to put WRH3MD stateroom # on the tag magnet just incase they don't want to participate. I'm so glad that you have power again so you can start getting things together. That must have been some storm that passed through!

Have you guys checked out debwills website? She has been doing a great job in posting her reports. Sounds like they are having a great time and the weather has cleared up today!  :sunny:

Hey everybody! Just thought I'd check in and tell you that I'm all packed!! :cool1: We leave NC on Thursday morning, but I have to drive to my sister's house Wed. to be in town to get on the plane. I agree with waiting to put the info on the magnet. I would hate for the game to end because someone decided not to participate.

I am finishing up my last load of laundry and am almost done packing and I managed to leave room in my suitcase this time to bring things back. Not sure how I did that, but I am not complaining. More room in the suitcases means more shopping! :rotfl2:

As Disznefan76 mentioned, we are on a very early flight (we have to be at the airport at 4:00am on Wednesday). I can't wait. Less then 36 hours and we are on a plane.

Sending Pixie Dust to all those traveling with children. Make sure the Headache meds are close at hand. I remember what those long trips were like when I was a kid and asking "Are we there YET?" every 5 minutes. Good Luck.

Thanks WindermereJudy for the photo compliment. I realized today that we do not have any recent pictures taken as family. Shutters should come in handy for us on the ship.

Can anyone tell me how the fairy gift exchange works? Should I have something for every family or do we draw usernames to select one family?

BTW. North Central CA warmed up to the mid-80's today.

Hey I checked several weather forecasts. I just kept hoping to find a better report that I liked better. The average was 71 high/60 low. That is Florida winter weather :rotfl:

Is anyone interested in joining us at dinner? We have never sat with anyone before.

The gift fairy is just an anonymous fairy (us) who drops little trinkets into pockets we will have on our doors. Nothing elaborate. Candy, keychains, magnets, stickers,......However often you feel led to do it. Half the fun is never knowing who, what, when, how........

Diznekids-----take care and we will see you there. I think you guys leave tomorrow.

We had a horrific storm here this morning don't know if it was the same one but we lost our power. Torrential rain and lightning. Would not have wanted to be on the Magic for that one.

Be careful and good luck with the shuttle times. I hope all goes smoothly. We are only the 2nd bunch of guinea pigs but hopefully they will iron out the details from this weeks shortcomings whatever they were.

We leave tomorrow evening after my DH works a 1/2 day. Our plane leaves around 7pm and we arrive LAX 930 ish. We are staying at Embassy suites south airport and then taking Super shuttle to port early on Sat.

I am packed. I started last week but my DD2 keeps hauling things out of there, so hopefully I will arrive with everything with which I intended to. Its so hard these days to pack efficiently. I keep remembering things. Whatever happened to the days of throwing some clothes in a suitcase and off we went. Oh yeah----its called parenthood. I just remembered a little while ago that I had pullups but no wipes. I had also forgotten sunglasses. Boy I sure do miss Port Canaveral.

Yes we got a new 7 megapixel the size of a wallet. Its pretty cool. It seemed like our other camera was not that old but in trying to remember whenwe got it, we decided it was atleast 6-7 years ago. It was a Nikon 4 MP. Rather large comparitively.

I am so glad you found what you needed. I was worried for you. It always amazes me how little I actually become photographer. Shutters is always there. They do so much better than I could possibly.

So were you Utah=onians (or whatever a Utah resident is called --Ute?) in jeans, jackets sweatshirts, or just not swimming? It is 76 here right not so we just went outside and thought it felt ok. I know during our winter when it gets to 70 we love it that means the shorts come back out. Help its the last chance to throw in extra clothes.!!!!!!

Change of plans- looks like we won't drive down until tomorrow. My husband had a longer than expected day (and evening) at work today. We are both exhausted so I think leaving tomorrow morning will result in a safer trip down. My mom lives in L.A. so we will stay overnight with her and then get to the cruise terminal around 11AM. What time are you planning to get there?

I have a 2 yr old daughter as well and she is quite a handful. Now she is into choosing her own clothes (mostly dresses) in the mornings and putting up a fuss when we disagree with her choice. It's so funny to watch her- she is so different from my son (4 yrs old) who just now started having an opinion about what he wears.

Just wanted to say, we are home now and we had a wonderful time. Thank you everyone for making it even more special. At one point, my DD2 said, that Santa was onboard because of all the presents we were getting. :rotfl:

Judy, I forgot to tell you how much I appreciated the door poster - it was so cute, and thanks for all your hard work on organizing things. After Friday, Sydney came back from the nursery and told me how she played with her best friend Blake - it was so adorable. That was also the only day that Bryce woudl attend was in the kids club, and I'm sure it was because of Drew. Thanks so much!

Well here's the list of items we left - in case you couldn't guess. Bon Voyage Captain Mickey Magnet, Smiley Light Up Magnet, Candle, Salt Water Taffy, Mini Character Plush, Disney Paper Clips, Pixie Dust Stickers.

I never saw the Tag magnet again after we left it for the first time - does anyone know if it actually was played? Additionally, I want to apologize to everyone, we had talked about looking at the other staterooms and we never got around to it. I had thought that on Friday after brunch we could, but I ended up not feeling well at all so I went back to lay down and was down most of the day.

Thanks again for everything!

Judy

It seemed quite rough a couple of times in aft, but I can't really compare - so I don't know if I was sensitive because I didn't know what to expect. Whenever we were in the Theater forward I felt like I could really feel the movement of the ship.

Thursday night / Friday morning seemed especially rough, it kept me awake. Tim wasn't feeling well Thursday evening (it might have been disappointment in his deep sea fishing excursion :rotfl: ). I wasn't feeling well most of Friday. We went to brunch, but I finally had to leave, because I wasn't feeling well. I was starting to feel a bit better Friday evening and Bryce wasn't feeling well, so Thursday evening through Saturday morning, we really didn't get outside our stateroom much.

Even with that we had a GREAT time!

This was my first cruise forward, and boy were we ALL the way forward. The motion was similiar to the motion felt in the theatre. I never got sick, thank goodness. Pam has always taken motion sickness pills. Friday she took 3 in the course of the day and still felt yucky when we went to Parrot Cay for lunch. I just felt like I was on really long thrill ride most of the day. :teeth: Usually we book CAT 7's which are aft. That's what we have for next Aug. Don't know how Pam would have done in Aft on this cruise though. Parrot Cay is aft and she had trouble in there the last day, and during the Character Breakfast on Monday.

I had a good time on this cruise. I loved the ports but if I ever do this again, I will NOT go in June. I felt like I missed out on half the cruise. I love the sea days, but only got to enjoy one this year. Obviously, I don't hang out by the pool all day. :sunny: BUT, it was knowing that I couldn't on Sunday or Friday that bothered me. I like to have choices and felt like the option of outside was no option either of those days. I did only rate the weather as 'good' on the survey. I really wanted to rate it 'just ok' but the port days were great. Now that I'm home it's in the low 90s and sunny! Wish all last week could have been like that. What about the rest of you. Did you find yourself comparing this cruise to all of the others you'd taken out of Florida?

Yes me too. Did you read the live post on our cruise where the lady said that she thought I was wrong about everything. She said she saw noone sick and everyone was great, and I should have known what to expect on a Mexican cruise. Boy there are some crabby people on these boards. Oh yeah she tried to say Que wasn't fired too. I thought everyone was entitled to their opinion without getting jumped all over.

It felt so much shorter this cruise just because there were really 3 good days. I totally loved theport days but was bummed on the colder days. I felt like you did not see each other as much as normal because normally everyone is at the pool. Of course we still stayed busy but I would probably not do a west coast again due to the travel involved, ....We do want to go back to Cabo. Not on a cruise. We had a great time there.

Our waiter and asst. were slow and did not have it together. Our drinks were empty all through dinner, food orders wrong, stuff that never came....I guess we were hoping it would be as good as before.

Thanks guys for letting me vent here. Nothing is ever perfect and its nice to know it wasn't just you, that others felt that wasy too.

Ellen I saw your post about people dropping things off Topsiders anto your balcony. I never thought about that being right under there. Did you feel like you did not have any privacy? No going out onto your balcony in undies to hang up your wet suits.

I too was very quesy in PC what is it.? I thought the front was supposed to be the worst for that. Funny thing is, I did not feel that way in AP as much. Why is that?

Hey guys! Yes, Judy, I did see that post on the live thread. I couldn't believe that she was saying all of that. I also thought you handled it well. Don't think I could have been that calm on the my first day home. I was depressed as it was...didn't need to add anger too. She mentioned the same thing about Que on another board, favorite CM or something like that. Someone finally asked if she knew him personally and she said no.

Judy and Susan we miss seeing you and your families. We seemed to see you everywhere last week. I keep thinking, 'this time last week I was...." Janese, Liz same thing. We miss you guys. I told my parents how you two were are West Coast counter parts. I wish we didn't live so far apart.

Judy, I heard on the lunchtime news today that a child died on Mission Space! It was just a small clip at lunch saying that he passed out and died. Do you have anymore details?

Yes I was already feeling bummed and then to have someone tell me I was basically a downer and negative. I really was not trying to be and I am sorry if I sounded that way but I also wanted to tall them both sides of what was going on. Isn't that what this whole thing is all about.?

Yeah she jumped all over another girl on Marla's thread about rumors yet she did not know and there was a lady from the repo who actually witnessed the Que event and siad so. (She is a GM)I guess that is why I believe her. :rotfl:

I am so happy that you all and Liz/Janese became such good friends and hit it off. It was also so neat that the Keegan's loved their tablemates so much and reboked with them. I hope we hook up with someone we get really close to on the next cruise. There is one lady that I have already been chatting with some that seems really nice. I wish I could have seen the Mousseaus more they were so nice and the kids got along really well. For some reason this cruise seemed so hectic. Not much time for just sitting around chatting (except of course those initial 3 hours in the terminal).

Yes our good friend is head of Epcot and he is on vacation. I am sure he will be flying back in and then we will know more. You know they had some problems when it first opened. Have you ever been on it?? What it appears to do is blast you off with the gravitationl pull feel. The way they achieve that feeling is by although you do not see the mechanics of the ride it is a spinning motion thing much like they train the astronauts in. Evidently the mom came walking out of the ride carrying her child limp and laid him down on a bench and paramedics were called but he was DOA. Sounds strange to me. Where were all the ride workers if this boy was limp on the ride. There are monitors/cameras that they installed after the problems before so they could keep an eye on everyone. Did this woman walk out calmly with her limp child or was she screaming as I would have been doing. That would have immediately brought many workers so why did she carry him to a bench? Did she think he was asleep? Who knows. I'll be curious. I know the ride is shut down now. It took awhile after the Thunder Mountain accident before that opened back up. I'll keep you posted.

Hello Guys. I feel like it has been nonstop since we got back. Dan is already out of town on business so I am trying to juggle work, two kids, and Katie's summer camp. Would love to be back on the cruise. We also felt the rocking more in PC and much more than in the Caribbean. I didn't feel well during Sunday brunch at Palo but felt better after laying down a while. Don't think I would do the west coast again, too cold. We never even went in the pools on the shipand usually we are there the first day while I am waiting to make Palo reservations.

Although we enjoyed the cruise enough again to book with our table mates we agreed not to ask for the same waiter/asst waiter. They were nice enough but not as good as we had on past cruises. By the end of the cruise they refilled drinks without asking but the service was definitely just okay not great. We did see our head server more than ever before (nightly). But again, knowing how picky Disney is didn't say anything on the survey.

Cabo was by far our favorite stop and the only one we would like to return to.

Judy, I would love a copy of the statue picture. Thank you for all the things you organized and the door poster. Many people commented on it in the hall. It was really appreciated although I didn't say it often. Katie wishes Drew and Dane were on our next cruise. She really enjoyed playing with them.

MousseauMob, where did you get the smiley face magnet? We loved it but had never seen anything like it before.

That sounds awful about the boy on Mission Space. Do you recall the accident on the cell ride (can't remember the name) at the MetLife Epcot body/health pavilion many years ago? Might be the same type thing. We have been on Mission Space several times. Katie likes it better than I do.

Hey guys..I miss everyone too! I agree...our 7 days of "Magic" went by too fast. I loved Mexico...and will probably go back, just not by cruise. It's definently different then the caribbean!

Sherry, we are definently going to have to try to hook up on another cruise. It was so much fun hanging out with you and Pam. How was your flight by the way???? We will probably be looking at something in 2007.

Judy, thanks again for all the hard work that you put into for our door signs! They were great. And also your mom for making the Dis pockets. They worked out really well! By the way.... I can't believe that the lady on the Live thread went there....there were what? 2600 people on board and just because she didn't see people sick doesn't mean that the 2585 other people weren't right???...lol You handled that very well! You go girl!!! lol :cheer2:

You know what is weird is that almost all of us were affected or someone in our party was. And NOOOOOOO I did not expect it to be the caribbean. My dislikes had little to do with where we were anyway. See and we weren't the only ones that thought our wait staff was marginal. Besides all that, even if I went at the last minute and I had been involved in the DIS boards and saw a bunch of green shirt people, I would have gone over and made friends with them but you know me, I tend to be friendly and outgoing. The other bizarre thing was (tell me if I am wrong) this guy Disneydarwin starts this "also on board " thread. 1.Where was he before the cruise????? Not participating on DIS boards. 2.Why did he start a new thread and not just make a new entry on my "live from" thread as they did on the last 2 cruises???? It wasn't my private thread it was for anyone of us dis people on board to detail events. Therefore I spent a bunch of extra time and $ telling the same things he was.

OK enough griping. I haven't done much but try to catch up on sleep and laundry. We are still trying to get our drywall repaired from last years hurricane. The drywaller finally said today he will be here in 2 weeks. YEAH!!!!

windermerejudy
06-14-2005, 10:17 PM
Did I ever tell you guys what happened to our dry erase boards? Blake unpacked them and I spent the whole cruise looking for them. Well they were on the bed when I got home. Guess I will use them next time. So sorry.

I am glad you liked the door signs. I had no idea what to do but just kind of used one I saw one cruise as a guide. I saw MANY people stopping to read and look at them in all the hallways. Everytime I came around the corner there was someone at either the Buckleys door or ours reading it.

Speaking of the Buckleys----I loved them. They were so nice. Wish I could have had more time to have visited. She seemed like a good Texas woman like me. :cool1: I think the next few cruises will eventually transition into us being more able to go to the clubs at night or sit and have a drink and visit. It was just so hard with Blake at 2. My best computer time (my only comp. time) was when she fell asleep early and Dane and Dale were asleep and Drew of course at the midnight pizza parties they had everynight. I think Dale and Dane fell asleep 10 minutes into every single show.

Judy, We never made it to a club either. This was also the first trip I never even walked into the spa. I am not sure where all the time went. We had fun though.

I know you will be glad to get your drywall done. We just got our roof damage from the Labor Day hurricane repaired a month before we left and repainted the ceiling (again). I am sure our damage was minor compared to yours.

I so enjoyed meeting all of y'all, though I realize we never met everyone. It was tough with having both grandmothers along...though not attached at the hips, we were pretty close, helping them with all the activity.

Judy, thank you so much for all you did pre-trip, during, and even post-trip. I, too, would like a copy of the group photo. I had one stuck in with our batch, but when we went to buy, it was gone (as was the one of the DVC group). Also, someone (we suspect the kids our oldest DS was with) threw soda (we think) at our door poster. We can recreate the photo, but could you send me the bottom strip of characters? I like to keep souvenirs.

To everyone, thank you so much for all our little goodies. I've never done this on any of our 7 previous cruises, so didn't know what to bring. Wish I'd had more time to pull stuff together...could have had much more appropriate stuff (like our famous "Don't Mess With Texas!" stickers and more). Both moms (Maurine & Shirlee) asked me to thank y'all for them as well!

We've rebooked for next October, but I plan to work on DH to do a Costa Maya cruise for the 2 days at CC. Wish me luck!! If anyone is up for it, we're heading to Hilton Head (DVC) this October for fall break...

Oh good, it wasn't just me! I was really a bit bummed about the weather. I kept thinking we would be able to sit and chat around the pool while the kids played, but that never really happened. Probably the cold weather. Things seemed hectic to me also, but being a newbie, I thought it was just the newness of everything. The toddler thing was a bit hectic also (other than the afternoon naps I was able to take with her) :rotfl: I think things will get easier when DD2 is older and potty trained.

I would do another Mexico cruise - but preferebly in their good season instead of at the start of their raining season. I also LOVED Cabo! It was so beautiful, we had such a lovely view of Los Arcos and Lands End when we pulled in, and I got some nice pictures when we pulled out. It is just SO beautiful there.

Ellen I saw your post about people dropping things off Topsiders anto your balcony. I never thought about that being right under there. Did you feel like you did not have any privacy? No going out onto your balcony in undies to hang up your wet suits.
Privacy is definitely missing, so going out in undies was out of the question, and joining the veranda club would be impossible. :rotfl2: Although, I did go out in my PJ's when pulling into ports. Of course my PJ's are like shorts and a t-shirt, so no big deal.

MousseauMob, where did you get the smiley face magnet? We loved it but had never seen anything like it before.
There's this little toy store here in one of our malls called Hammonds Toys for Tots and they had them. I bought out his complete inventory (10). :rotfl: They also had letters - so you could spell something out.

Judy, I also saw the other post, I thought you handled it very well. I didn't think you were being negative, you were just reporting how things were - both the good and the bad. Personally I appreciate the honesty, I go to boards for information - not just good reports! I also thought the additional Live thread for our cruise was a bit odd - why not just add to the current thread? :confused3

I hadn't heard about the child's death at WDW, how sad! My heart goes out to the family. I also read about a 4 year old girl who fell into the water from one of the tendering boats on the cruise before us (or maybe it was the repo cruise - I can't remember). Luckily in that case, everyone was fine. It's a good thing I didn't read that before hand, otherwise I may not have ventured into Cabo with kids by myself. It was challenging enough, helping Bryce and holding Sydney while the boat rocked without me worrying about that.

Is anyone a member of the DVC? I've been thinking about it, but I don't know if it's a good idea for us, since we don't make it out east very often. We tend to vacation on the west coast and north into Canada.

....and I highly recommend it. Though we haven't gone to any but Disney properties (yet!), you don't have to just do Disney. Friends of ours have used their points for years to go to Hawaii. The way we looked at it in 1996 when we purchased, it was pre-purchasing vacations 50 years into the future at 1996 dollars. We've more than made up our expenses!

If you have questions, ask away. Too bad we didn't chat on the cruise...they were offering great incentives to buy on-board. Almost made me want to buy more points!

You can fill in the form and have copies made of your Shutters photos at your local stores at a fraction of the cost.

Ellen---now that you have tasted DCL west now you have to come do one over here. Much different. More freetime to just hang out and chat. Buckleys are DCL members. I am sure Beth can tell you more.

OK we all loved Cabo so lets have a Cabo trip next summer. I think we are going to look into late July or Aug. I have been researching hotels. Need more info. I loved the beach on the Sea of Cortez called "the office". It was great for kids. I am not sure I would want to be on Pacific although it is gorgeous.

I hadn't heard about the tendering mishap. Did you hear on DCL or after you got off?

Guess what you guys----we have a bearded collie (he looks like a smaller Old English Sheepdog) that is 11 months old and we left him at this doggy spa and he came home with this raspy cough. My mobile vet is coming soon but I think it may be kennel cough. He has had bordetella shot.

Have any of you ever transferred your ressie to Dreams Unlimited? People here on the boards do that and I just tried it and I get a $200 cash back per room bonus when paid in full in addition to my onboard credit. Could not turn it down. You might want to look into it.

OK now its someone elses turn to chat.

Hello Everyone
Sorry about posting late. But I came down with strep throat when we got home Saturday night and haven't felt up to posting until just now.
First of all, I want to thank everyone who dropped off all the wonderful treats at our door and the door deco in general. We really were not expecting so much. And I'm embarrassed that I didn't have time to gather up enough hometown things for everyone before we headed down to L.A.
Secondly, I wish we would have had the opp to meet/visit with more of you than we actually did. But my boys had their own agendas on what they find fun, plus DH getting seasick made for some things being missed.
I believe the mystery of the magnet lies with us. But I didn't realize it until reading the previous posts. Sorry, I guess we never got the game.
Thirdly-We had a really nice first cruise. Learned a whole lot.And would most certainly go again. We loved Palo. Even had the chance to go twice.
Probably won't consider cruising again until 07' when we head out to WDW for DS's 10th b-day
Judy- we could use a copy of the formal picture. Thanks
p.s. Cabo was our favorite too!

Judy, I'm so sorry about your collie! We had all our pet trauma before the cruise. We lost the blue lobster and both hermit crabs and our old (thinks he's a dog) big cat tore his other ACL. He tore the first one a few years ago. It's always trauma since the vet always tells us a cat won't bother the incision and our cat rips out the staples / stitches whatever - even with one of those little cone collars. The only thing that works is a LARGE dog cone collar. He has the demeanor of a dog (makes me laugh) - my DH even taught him to shake hands. :rotfl: My son took him to show and tell in Kindergarten and they thought it was so cool, my DH had to show him to all the Kindergarten and First Grade classes. :rotfl2:

MousseauMob, We are DVC members and are in the process of selling our membership through the Timeshare store. We have owned it for 8 years. We used our membership to go on eight trips, we went to Disney World several times, London, and the Disney cruise three times. Our thoughts are that DVC value is great if you are going to stay at one of their DVC properties (Walt Disney World, Hilton Head, Vero Beach). If that is what you plan to do I would highly recommend it. Otherwise the value (after considering the annual fees) is so so. We found that to use DVC points and cash for the cruise we were actually losing money over what it costs to book the cruise itself. Hence our reason for selling.

P.S. We still own another timeshare which we have had longer and our not selling so our opinion of the DVC is not a reflection on the timeshare concept in general. Feel free to ask me any questions.

I went on DU site and they have a transfer your ressie form. Guess it is often done. You just give them the DCL ressie number, names and dates and as long as the deposit is paid which I thought DCL does automatically it is a done deal. I kept hearing people chat about doing that but I could not figure out the advantage, but now the light is on. :sunny: Money talks.

Hi Judy, I am still awake but it's only 11PM here. I met you on the ship while you were trying to sign on to your internet account. Did you ever get that straightened out? We didn't really get a chance to seek out all the DISers because we were traveling with 4 other families so had quite a large group of our own.

Anyways, we had a pretty good time on the cruise but honestly thought that our head server was only OK. We loved our asst server. The weather in L.A. could have been better but no one has control over that! Because this was our first Disney cruise and the experience was only average I do not know if we would cruise with Disney again. Who knows...

Mindy---it was so nice to have met you. I do hope you reconsider going with DCL again. I think we can all honestly say this is not their typical product. Please come visit us over here on the east coast and do a PC cruise. Weather is sunnier thus more deck time. I missed sitting out by the pool with the band playing while you swim drinks in hand, visiting with your family and friends, I REALLY REALLY missed Castaway Cay. It is gorgeous and noone selling anything on the beach!!!!!!!!! That is a great relaxing day. Can't wait to do that itinerary again. The product on the west was not bad----just different for what I enjoy.

Judy, the way you describe the east coast Disney cruises make it sound more tempting. We'll see over time if our two little ones (currently 4 and 2) will get more into the Disney characters and movies. As it was on the Mexican Riviera Disney cruise every time we got near one of the non-princess characters our kids would be scared... Oh well, perhaps they just weren't exposed enough before the trip...

windermerejudy
06-18-2005, 09:33 AM
Mindy, two things to keep in mind: go again while they are young enough to still have the "magic", and also it only gets tougher once the kids are in school. I bet by this time next year it will be a whole different story. BTW at our port DCL owns it so they have their own workers there and check in is easy and smooth. Usually you ae on the boat by 11:00 so you have the whole day to enjoy before the rush hits of boat drill, sailaway and dinner. Again that adds to the mood of a relaxing atmosphere.

xploring, we have been on three Disney cruises and my 9 year old has always been scared of characters that have "heads" on them. She is fine around Peter Pan, princesses, etc. She still enjoys the cruise and is looking forward to going again. I was really disappointed when we were younger as we generally go to Disney every year, but we have now kindof accepted it. She still loves the parks, just not the characters.

You know, we've never used DVC for anything but DVC properties, so I can't say. We just booked our Fall Break trip to Hilton Head...Disney Magic at a different pace.

I love the idea of having the ability to go other, non-Disney, places, though. Probably after next year, when we're hoping to have a family reunion at WDW, we'll explore that option. Friends of ours use some of their points yearly to go to Hawaii. Considering the cost of condo-type accomodations (which is what you get), I think it is well worth the cost. If the current $98/point is a concern for y'all, contact ******** Crawford at DVCbyResell.com and explore a resell. The cost is typically much lower.

We love the flexibility of DVC and recommend it often. But it has to fit with your needs. If you'd like to explore it further, I'd recommend you contact one of the advisors. Frankly, the do NOT put on a high sales pitch or pressure. They can just help you with questions. Those on the cruise were Marc Turner (1-800-340-6419) or Amil Arroyo (1-800-827-1473).

I'm glad our thread is continuing!! I like talking to all of you. Pam and I have almost a week of workdays in January. We're only in school teaching on a Tuesday and Wednesday. So odd!! So, we're getting subs and going to Disney World with our moms. Just a girls week at the World. What's the weather like in January? I've never been except in the summer. I won't know how to act without crowds and heat. :cool1:

Not to push, but the website I set up prior to the cruise will allow us to continue talking without having to search for our thread as I did tonight. Just a thought if y'all want to stay in touch as I do.

Ok fellow scrappers - share, share, share! I'd love to see your layouts. I've just started digital scrapbooking and I LOVE it - I may not go back to traditional. :)

Here's my pirate night page.

I scanned our menu from pirate night (well half of it - the are SO big), and then I removed the menu items with my imaging editing software, so it was just the map.

Here's my latest, these are pictures from Puerto Vallarta.

I'm going to do one about our dis group, I'll post it when I have it finished.

You haven't lost us...we're all just temporarily missplaced!

Seriously, I love your pages. I'm beginning to think the only way I'll be able to scrapbook is digitally. What package do you use? Have you been doing it long? and do you print out 12x12 pages on one of the new printers or the standard 8.5x11?

On another note, I received a cool, new video from DVC. It includes basic info on the DVC, the Disney Collection and other places in the world you can use your points. To get a copy, go to dvcfriends.com to request a copy or call 800-840-3708.

I've just started doing this digitally. What amazes me is how fast and easy it is. I can do a page in a fraction of the time it would take me to do a traditional scrapbook page and I don't have to worry about having my supplies out and in the way - there's no mess. Also the undo button is WONDERFUL! Wish I had that in real life! :rotfl:

I'm in the process of an expirement with these pages. I've used MyPublisher.com for a couple of books - but they really only allow pictures and text. As long as you have good resolution digital pictures these look great! They also allow full bleed to edge for images - so I thought I would try scrapbooking my pages, saving them as high resolution images, then using MyPublisher to create the books. This way they are printed on quality paper and bound in a leather bound or canvas book. The software I'm using for the page layouts is Microsoft Digital Image Pro 10.0. I looked at Adobe Photoshop also. Although Photoshop is more powerful it's also harder to use, and I was instantly creating with MS Digital Image Pro. If you're looking into it, this website has some helpful info.

Thanks for the info on DVC, I'm going to get the video from the website.

I agree we aren't lost. I am still just trying to get my pictures developed, printed and organized. I love looking at your pages.

Are you planning to print them? If so, what size?

I'm doing them for MyPublisher.com so they are 12 x 9 in size.

So glad everyone isn't lost! :cloud9:

AWWW, don't you want to be with us! I promise we're cool!! :cool1:

Actually, I had realized that shortly after I had posted the page up here. I went back through our thread to make sure I had everyone and picked you up by mistake. :sad2:

I've already fixed my real page, but I didn't repost the fixed image! But, thanks, that was a good catch. See, here's another reason I LOVE digital scrapbooking - fixing it was a breeze!!!!
