ThravelSheryl said on another post that Southwest sets the low price for most places that it flys but Southwest doesn't do Texas to Philadelphia so who sets the pace for this run? I live in the Austin area but am willing to drive to Houston or Dallas for a deal.

AirTran serves Houston Hobby to Phila. and Dallas to Phila, both with connections in Atlanta. It's possible that other airlines will match AirTran's fare, sometimes even non-stops such as US Air or Continental out of Houston IAH, or American or US Air out of DFW.
That doesn't mean that there wouldn't be specials run from Austin though. It would be determined by your travel dates. It seems that the fare would have to be substantially cheaper to drive all the way to Houston or Dallas. I would just check a lot of sites to compare prices, and subscribe to the fare tracker emails from Travelocity and Expedia.

Thanks, I haven't checked AirTran, now I will. Currently the cheapest fare I'm finding is $349 from Continental and I was just wondering if they were the low fare leader for this route. Again, I appreciate the info.

There is no low fare leader from Austin to Philadelphia, as the route is not served by any of the low fare carriers.
