We're staying in a 2 bedroom in Oct. of this year with our 2 DSs ages 7 & 2. We're looking for a building close to hosp. house, pool, food and bus stop (we're not asking for to much are we???). We're also wondering if it would be easier to take our own car to the parks or is the bus system in OKW okay. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You can find a map on this site for building locations. Requests to be near the Hospitality House are the most often made and therefore most often ignored requests. The buildings in the teens and low twenties and above 63 are all close to that area.
We would never be without a car and have never used the bus system. During your vacation, park hours will be shorter. We will usually drive to Epcot in the moring, park there and then monorail over to the MK. This way you don't have to tram in from the ticket and transportation center. You also can have dinner at a monorail hotel on the way from the MK to Epcot in the evening.

We requested a two bedroom in building 64 this summer, and it was right near everything. You can walk to the store and bus at the hospitality house in about 2 or 3 minutes. An added benefit is that this building overlooks the 7th hole of the golf course, and has water with a fountain, too. We were on the second floor, and this building has an elevator, so we were very pleased. We would definitely ask for this building again. The only closer building is 63, and in that building you tend to hear more of the bus noise.

I always request to be some where on old turttle pond , any bus takes you to the front. Yes it is aways from the hosp. house , but as Rich stated it is hard to get a room near the front.

On the rare occassions when we have a car, we don't use it for park visits.
We find the buses to be fine, and much less crowded than the other resort buses.
Have fun!:bounce:

I also vote for building 64. We had 6430 last December it was a perfect location.

Steve, your first reques,t ask to be near the hop. house and tell them if that is not possible then maybe building 41 or 42. They are both right next to a pool and the Turttle shack(sells goodies). Just a suggestion.

We have little problem with the buses and we have the added complication of traveling with a DD who uses a wheelchair. We always take the bus to MK because it drops you off right at the park entrance. If you drive or take the monorail from Epcot to MK, you will be at the Ticket and Transportation Center and will need to take a monorail or boat to get to the park entrance.

We have stayed in all areas of OKW and have yet to find one that was not good.
As for driving or buses-- We find driving is faster to the other resorts, but too much trouble for the parks. We usually take the buses to all parks because the bus drops you off closer and you don't have that long treck to and from the parking lot at the parks. The only park we sometimes drive to is AK since the buses to there also stop at BB, and it is a longer ride. We have never felt the buses were a big problem except for Downtown Disney and getting to other resorts for dinner.

I must be the only one that doesn't mind the wait for bus! Even when my dh was in a evc! My ds and I play ~ we also do about 4 DVs a year. So maybe you all are not vacationing enough!!!???:D
