I know on the 26th Christmas items will be 50% off, not sure when they go down to 75% or 90%.

The Halloween dates were the 1st, 4th and 7th so I am going to try hitting it every 3 days. Don't know for sure if that is how it will go for Christmas so I hope someone knows for sure.

A friend of mine who worked at Target last year, says that some of the toys were clearanced before Christmas last year. I am doing some last minute shopping tonight and plan to check it out.

Will it really be 50% off for a whole week? There will be nothing left for 90% and I work on the 2nd so I won't make it to 75% off that day either. I'll have to go on Monday!

Is it possible that there are variations depending on the market? For example, a lot of the toys at my local Target did not get clearanced (75-90% off) out until between the second and third weeks of January last year. I really watch these sales, as I buy a lot of clearance toys for our yearly school carnival.

Actually, there are variantions. I have two Targets that I go to and they are about 10 miles apart. One of them is always at 75% before the other one.

The past two years Target has followed the same schedule. 75% Jan. 2 and Jan. 7 90%. The reason I remember this is because my husband always comes with me the day it goes to 75%. I guess he wants to make sure I don't get a bunch of junk.

Hey, so Target's policy is that if you buy something and it goes on sale within however many days, you can bring in your receipt and get the sale price. So, does that work with these clearance sales? I am just curious. Anyone know?

no I believe you can not get a pride adjustment on seasonal items at target
rebuy it and take it back with the full price slip

Well, now that is a darn good idea! I have to say, I never would have thought of buying it again and then returning the original ones. That way, I can make sure the stuff I want is still there. Thanks a lot for that tip!

Be careful about buying and then trying to return merchandise you bought on clearance earlier. Some stores will not refund price you paid, even with receipt--some will only refund clearance price at the time. You might want to ask at customer service what their policy is.

be careful about making excessive returns, especially at Target. There's a post on here and I"ve heard on the news lately that a lot of stores are now "tracking" your return habits and can actually DENY you a return if you are deemed a "habitual returner".
My sister in law was at Target today and picked up 3 moving light up reindeer for her front lawn at 12.50 each and a coat hanger thing for her hallway for 9.00. She said that there were some great sales already. I'm planning on heading over there tomorrow. I heard somewhere that the 75% sale starts tomorrow

Nope, can't get a price adjustment on clearance merchandise.

According to my handy dandy calendar. Holiday clearance goes to 75% on 01/02/2004 and then 90% on 01/07/2004.

I heard that on the news as well, but I think that is for returns without a receipt.

I have heard that story on the news and in the papers, and it is for returns WITH receipts. If Target ever starts doing that, I'm in big trouble. I return a lot of stuff there (and Kohls) because it's much easier than dragging the kids to the store to try things on, etc.

I was just at Target a little while ago and all of their holiday items were still just at 50% off. There was a lot of stuff left at the one I went to though I was really impressed. 2 aisles of wrapping paper, bags and bows/ribbons. A whole aisle of lights and outdoor type decorations, and then another aisle of ornaments and miscellaneous items. I picked up some nice stuff but I'm going to hold off for the deeper discounts for the rest of the stuff...if there's anything left by then that is!
