Anyone else renting a car from National in Aug. notice an increase in the base price? I already have one ressie ($152 for 8 days /fullsize using EA, DC discount + coupon) but I keep checking for lower rates. Just noticed today that the base rate for a fullsize has gone up to $143 (my rate was $135). I'm thrilled I have a ressie at the lower rate...was ust hoping they would go down a bit more.

However, it's even worse in my case. Our dates are Aug. 3-11, and suddenly the base rate has jumped to 171.99!!! That's quite an increase from the 135.98 base rate I have now.
This suggests to me that bookings have increased for August, and they are adjusting up now, rather than down. I'll keep checking, but it really looks like I have the best deal I can get currently. That's okay, I think it's a darn good deal.

We are renting National Aug 28-Sept 3rd, and I just went into book (I put it off, and was worried when I read your messages). We are paying $127.77 total after taxes. It was a base rate of $141.97, then I got off the discount s of $28.39and $18.93 using the contract price for DC and the free day DC is also offering. I'm all confirmed now. I hope when I get my Emerald Aisle number, I can turn this ressie into that..I'm hoping there will be a convertible in the aisle!

august 26 - sept 2 ....our rate has neither gone up or down from the other day......128.39 for 7 days here
dmrick check yours again too.....when i did your dates it came back at 123$ +...the base rate it is giving me for aug 28 - sept 3 is 135$
since you are renting for 6 days.....that increases your day discount too ....since the free day is based on the "rate after discount" divided by "no of days rental" which in this case was 135 - 27 = 108 /6 gives the 18$ approximate free dayour free day came out to 15$ since it was 108 divided by 7...

Same here. Renting Aug 11-20 and rate has been $175 with DC discounts. Going to check other car agencies. If they are lower, EA can kiss me.

Same Experience, Different Dates.
My EA ressie with DC discount and coupon increased from $129 for seven days to $208. Sure glad I made those ressies last month!

I don't get it.
$124.43 base rate for week in late September. If I go through Emerald Club the base rate is at $170. This is for a mid size. What is going on here?
