Oh, Finally, I was starting to think that we will be the only family on board. It will be me, DH, and 3 DD's, 15,11,7.
Can't wait, want to set the countdown clock, but haven't figured out how yet!!! :cheer2:

If we're the only ones then maybe we'll get upgrades. :earboy2:
I forgot our room numbers, but I have two cat.11s. One for me and DH and one for MIL and my two boys. My boys will also be 7 so they will be with one of your daughters.

This will be our first disney cruise. I promised my dd who will be 9 that we would go on a disney cruise a couple of years ago. Wanted to wait untill my other dd was older. She will be 5.

So excited!!! We will be in 2 Cat 10, and of course hoping for an upgrade, but at least on the boat!!! :cloud9:
Don't want to alarm anyone, but have a funny story! We were scheduled to go last year. First cruise was booked for Sept 5. That day as everyone knows "Frances" hit us. So we rescheduled for Sept 26. What are the chances of another hurricane!! Wrong, that was the day Jeanne paid us a visit. After that we cancelled for the year. And of course no more hurricanes for the year! So even though we are going during major hurricane season, I am still positive that this year will be our year!!!
So don't go cancelling your cruise!!! :bitelip:

There doesn't seem to be alot of people going on this cruise. Maybe we will all get upgraded. I booked a cat 11, thinking that we would probably not spend alot of time in the cabin. Also, my husband is really cheap!! :rotfl:

My DD and her daughter who will be three are booked on this cruise. She asked me to check if there was anyone going then. She booked a Cat. 12 but would be thrilled with an upgrade.

Hi all!
We will be going on this cruise as well. We took this same cruise on January 27, 2005 and had a great time. We had booked a RCCL for August and cancelled to come back on the Wonder. It was an awesome time. This time the inlaws will be coming along. It should be fun. My DD is 8, DS 10 and DS 20 months. I can't wait to do it again!

Hi Jeanette! I have a DD who will be 3. This will be my families' first cruise. We are also bringing the inlaws. We an't wait. its going to be so much fun!!
We have an addition to our group. We had hoped to bring my DD 16 but were unsure of if it would work, but it is now confirmed that she will be with us. I see that there are other DD's and DS's in the same age range, so they will probably meet up and have a great time. Everyone here is bouncing off the walls already, and we have over 6 months to go!

Hi. We just booked this morning. I was on the Sept. 8th 3 day cruise, and decided to add a day after looking at all of the kids activities would be missing out on the boat. It is me, DH and DS/DD Twins who will turn 4 Sept. 6. This is our first cruise. I am a little worried about sea sickness, and we could only get the late seating, which I am worried about with 3 year olds. Hopefully that will not be a big problem.

Hi Heather,
We were on this same 4-night cruise on January 27th of this year, and had the late seating as well. It worked out great for my 18 month old since we went to see the show first, then went to dinner. One of the nights he was sleeping in the stroller, one night he went to the Reef Nursery, and the other two nights he had a great nap during the day and it wasn't an issue at all. I did make sure he ate from the 9th deck before we went to the show and it couldn't have worked out better. In fact, when we booked this cruise on the ship I made sure to schedule the late seating. I also highly recommend the Reef Nursery. The staff was awesome and everything was very clean. My little one had never been to a daycare and he wasn't real crazy about us leaving him there, or we would have used it more than one night. Hope this helps and if you need any more information let me know.

Hi everyone! We will also be cruising. This is a surprise cruise for our 2dd's. They think we are just going to disney world for the week. Little do they know we will be doing both. Now if dh and I can just keep it a secret. My dh has always wanted to watch one of the ships leave out of port so the plan is to drive to port canaveral on saturday to watch the magic, spend the night and drive to disney in the morning except for dh will take the wrong exit ;) and now we have to drive all the way down to the port and turn around....won't they be surprised when we pull up and start unloading the luggage. :jumping1: This will be our third cruise w/ disney so we can't wait.

After reading your post, about the last seating, maybe I should call back DCL and tell them to take my name off of the waiting list for early seating. Now that this looks like a better option, I would not want them to change me to early. Did any of you get seasick on the previous cruises? I get carsick, so I am a little worried.
My husband is afraid that we will be bored when we are on the boat.
I also have one more question, do you sit at your own table at dinner? I was reading about your table mates. How does this work out?
Thanks, Heather

We are also scheduled for late seating with DD's 7,11,14. And with another group that has DD 12 & DS 9. So lots of kids. We are all used to carting kids everywhere we go, and used to the fact that you can never plan around kids.
Another thing, I don't have my countdown clock anymore since they upgraded the site. And been too lazy to get the new countdown thingy. So now I don't know how long before we go...

same here pixie, we're also waitlisted for first. I don't think it'll be an issue either cause DD4 (turning 5) will be fine as long as she has her afternoon nap. :goodvibes

We were on a waiting list for the earlier seating as well, but nothing ever happened. When we got to the ship in the morning we were put on another waiting list. It was still very long and we ended up having a great time at the late seating. We also requested a table to ourselves and that worked out great, too. It's so hard to have an 18 month old with strangers at the same table  .

I feel like I would be torturing someone to have to share a table with 2 three year olds... I have heard that it takes 2 hours to eat dinner. That is really scareing me. There is NO way that they could possibly sit there for that long.
My dream is that they would eat early, then we would go to the show. After that I would give them the choice (knowing what they will choose) of either going to bed, or going and watching a movie with their friends. Then DH and I could go and actually eat a meal instead of worrying about entertaining them.

My DD is real calm, so much so that I sometimes wish she would act a little crazy :confused3 but I don't think even she could last 2 hours just sitting there, I hope there's some sort of entertainment. shoo I might go stir crazy in 2 hours.

Maybe someone who has already been on a cruise can clarify. That is what the CM told me when I asked her how dinner usually takes (about 2 hours). I asked her if there was any way to speed that up, maybe by eating faster etc. She said the kids are entertained. But I still don't think they will be able to sit through a 4 course meal, with a slow waiter. I am assuming that the eating will be like going to a wedding reception, where the waiters bring out the salad when everyone is done at the table, then brings out the main course.

Our dinners took anywhere from 1 to 2 hours. Now alot is going to depend on your table guests. We were lucky the past few cruises we did not have to wait for table guests arrive. If you are not into ordering the appetizers and dessert you will get out much quicker. However a word of warning the wait staff will keep after you if you do not order a appetizer and dessert. They will keep asking you are you sure I cannot bring you something. They are very nice about it though. There was one night were we just could not eat another bite of food so they packed a dessert for us to take back to our room. They want to make sure you are enjoying your meal from beginning to end. Crayons are provided for your child for coloring. If they have a favorite toy or video game you could bring that along with you to dinner. But for the most part our dd (age 4) was entertained by our wait staff and what was going on in the dining room. Hope this helps

Thanks TJHutch!! That calms me down a bit! As long as there is some entertainment going on, I think DD will be fine.

I know what you mean! According to several sites the boat is filling up (all inside rooms are sold out, and lets face it, a lot of the outside rooms must be sold by this point as well). Apparently all but a few of us are either too shy to say hello, or maybe they just want to surprise us when we all get there. :earboy2:

Hi,
I just found the neatest idea for anyone cruising with children. Apparently you can have someone that has returned from a Disney Cruise send a postcard to your child "signed" by the character of your choice. This should get the disney magic started before you even leave home. On the search button type in postcards and click on the thread for "pay it forward"

Our family is planning our first time trip there. Land and Sea package, sailing the 11th-15th. We too were originally scheduled for the Oct 2nd sail date and moved ours up too. Had heard that "historically" October was hurricane month, so moved into early September. We are a family of 6 and have 2 adjoining Cat 6 cabins. Also staying at AKL and we can't wait. See you all then!!

We are too!!! Just booked our trip and actually arriving 2 days early, but staying at AKL 3 nights before the cruise. We're a family of 6, myself, DH, DS 15, DS 13, DD 9, and DD 6. We are actually celebrating DD (6) birthday early, her actual bday is in Oct., she'll be 7, but booked trip early because she had to have surgery and wanted to give her something to look forward to. Since you are staying there as well, do you happen to know about how transportation works from AKL to the ship??

We're in a Cat 6, as well. Where are you located? We will be in 6536.

my kids are 6 & 5 and hers are 13, 12, 9 & he'll be 16 months. This is our 2nd Disney Criuse and her 1st. Our last was 3 years ago though. So I need help with all the new stuff I need to know.
Shannon I was able to get my son potty trained when he 21/2 by telling him
you can't go play with all the other kids unless you can use the big boy potty.
It worked he was potty trained about 5 months before our cruise and the day we sailed was his 3rd b-day. :wizard:

Just reading some other cruise meets dates and some cruises that are leaving much later than ours, or some during the same time are up to over 2000 posts. Very busy cruise. Ours is neatly at 70+. Hoping that we can keep this date a secret!!! And then we will all be upgraded.
Anyone signed up for all the excursions? I got the stuff in the mail and read all about, but of course haven't done anything yet. I will be the one at the terminal screaming to be let on one of the excursions.... My own fault for not doing this on time :rotfl: Still don't know what to do. Part of me want to just do nothing but sit on the beach or by the pool, and the other part wants to go do extreme adventures. :moped:

I just want Palo's, I'll take any day and time. Would like to do a spa also, but will give that up for a Palo's ressies... How do we know what night to book, since I don't know what my dining rotation is? I would hate to have ressies at Palo's on the night of the light show in AP, although I wouldn't mind doubling up on dinner... Just won't eat for a month after cruise. Already started dieting, but this stress about not being able to book is not helping... I have a list of must haves on the cruise, and I am not passing up anything.

Got the Palo's ressies!!! So excited. We will be "double dipping" for dinner that night. Since I was trying to get a larger group to all sit together, I wound up calling after I made the ressies online. I asked the DCL rep what if my Palo dinner is on the same night as AP light show, and she said that it should be okay to change night. I will keep her to it!!! But we will make it in time for our late seating. So excited.... :cheer2:

I got all my ressie's done some time ago (at the 105 day mark). Palo for dinner and brunch as well as some spa stuff. We still can't decide on excursions either and may just do things on our own or just play it by ear when we board. Hopefully the thread will become a little more active since we are only like two months (ok and a little bit) away from boarding

I Like to of fell over when I found this thread on the first page. Makes everything even more exciting. Even my husband is starting to get excited. He likes to go to WDW and the cruise, but doesn't normally get excited til we are pulling out of the driveway. We are going to WDW a few days before boarding the ship, and we figured out we're now only 69 days away!!!!!!! :cloud9:
For those of you having trouble deciding what night to book Palos, we have found that the first and last dinner are at the same restaraunt. So if you have Triton's on sailing day you will also have it on the last day. We try to book Palo's on either the first or last night then you don't miss eating at any of the places. :cool1:
Well I'm off to try an figure out what spa treatments we will be needing. Notice the needing not wanting. :rolleyes1
Actually, I have been told that the third and fourth night are at the same restaurant, due to Pirate Night falling on night three.

Thank you so much. I too am so looking forward to the cruise. I'm pregnant with my 4th and last little one so it should be interesting to cruise while pregnant. At least I'm in my second trimester so I don't have to worry about that terrible morning sickness.
I think I will arrive at the port around 10:30 a.m. as well. Last time we had a buffet lunch at the beach blanket buffet and it was really nice with lots of good food. I think I'll try Parrot Cay this time for lunch. What did you think of it last time?
Jeanette
TJHutch
07-25-2005, 12:22 PM
jeanette1969 - Congratulations!! We loved Parrot Cay and thought it is much easier especially if you have little ones. Beach Blanket buffet you have to go through a line with a tray, try and find a table, get drinks, too much work with little ones. AT PC they seat you and you go to the buffet much easier and relaxing.

Thank you. I will try Parrot Cay this time for lunch. It was hard to maneuver around with the tray and worry about getting the drinks. Great idea, thank you. I enjoyed Parrot Cay for breakfast a few times, it was very nice.
I can't wait! It's only a month and a half away. I can't believe how fast this year is flying by. We reserved this cruise while we were on a cruise in January and it seemed so far away. It's hard to believe it's almost here.

Hi everyone...I was thinking about my packing list the other day. Has anyone tried packing their clothes with gallon size ziploc bags? I am trying to avoid taking too many suitcases and have heard this was a good way for saving space and cheaper than buying the space bags. I need to buy an over the door shoe holder. I have read several posts were this has saved alot of space in the room. We are getting closer to the 30 day countdown. I will be curious to see who receives their docs and when.

Just wanted to jump aboard. My husband and I will be crusing with our DD who is 4 and our friends are also going and they too have a DD that is 4.

Yea...how did you know you got an upgrade??? Don't guess we'll get one. We're CAT 6 with connecting rooms. They would have to upgrade us to CAT 4 to make a difference, the rooms would be a little bigger. We are currently in the middle of the ship, better for our daughter, less rocking. And we are only one floor away from the kids clubs. It would be fun to get an upgrade, as long as it was still in the middle, otherwise I'd stay where we are.
Can't wait! This is going to be a great trip.
I would be in for a meet if everyone wanted to get together. :sunny:

hey everyone, we have to think of something to do so we can identify everyone at the meet. anyone have any ideas?
also to find out if you got an upgrade go to disneycruise.com under my cruise and check your reservation. it should have your room # and the original category booked, but check the room # on the map of rooms because it may not be the same category. or just call your travel agent. oh yea and i didnt reserve a specific cabin, i think that makes a difference.
what does everyone usually do for the doorsigns? i think my 3 year old would love to do one of those.

We had all 3 of rooms upgraded too!! From Cat 12 to Cat 9. I went to the site to see how many cabins they still have available.. They are still booking Cat. 4(8 cabins), 5(7 cabins), 6(only showing a GTY), 9(1 cabin) and 11(2 cabins). I was told that booking GTY you have a good chance of being upgraded. I think going in the "off-season" helps those chances. Glad we listened to that advice.

I just checked and no upgrade here...I doubt we get one since it's just the 2 of us going. Maybe we'll get lucky and get a last minute upgrade at port (wishful thinking). I can't complain though, we got a fantastic price for this cruise and we'll be happy just to be on the ship. I did enjoy having a window last time, though (we have a Cat. 11 this time).
On a different note, if you need luggage tags Target has a really cute lime green set for $3 or $4. We flew with them last week and aside from them being the cool DIS color it helped our luggage stand out on the turnstile.
I can't believe we leave in a little over 3 weeks. Woo-hoo!

Congradulations Disney1972 on your upgrade, doesn't it make you even more excited? Don't worry kfeuer on the upgrade there is still hope with rooms available still you may get an upgrade at port. It doesn't matter that it is just the 2 of you. Me and my DD got an upgrade.

Thanks Shannon1984.. Yes I am really excited now. My DParents did not believe me because when you pull up the info online it still shows the original Cat.. so you have to look up the actual room number that is listed. I was sad at first because it showed Cat 12.. But when I pulled up the deck plan we were upgraded to a Cat 9. I was really surprised to be upgraded 3 Cat's though. My Mom called Disney to confirm!! So check the cabin numbers to see if you were upgraded! I will cross my fingers for you kfeuer and everyone else too!
Finally got my ticker ticking!! Just waiting for my docs to arive. This is going to be the longest 3 weeks ever!!
I went out today and bought a "Cruise Dress". Something "tropical" that I will probably never wear off the ship!! Oh well it was a great sale!!

I may be wrong about this but I think the docs are sent to the ta and the ta will send them to you either ups or mail. I'm going to dress up the kids. I keep waiting to see if our local stores start with the costumes, but if not I guess I'll start checking on ebay. I'm a party girl and would love to dress up, but being pregnant I don't think I'd find any costume that would fit except a cow costume. I guess I'll just wear what I wear for dinner that night.
I can't believe we only have 20 days left. I sure wish it were this weekend. I'm sure we will all have a blast. I can see myself at the castaway party now :cool1:.

Oh that would be so cute!! A pregnant pirate pirate: We were just going to dress the kids in costume at first then we figured why should they get to dress up and have all the fun. We are a party of 10 and I am trying to get everyone to participate. My DH may be a little hard.. depends on how much :drinking: he does that day! My Parents, my Sister-in-law, and my Nephew are in.. and all 3 of my DS so we just have to work on my brother and DH..
I was reading on another thread that they dressed up and I thought it would be fun.. We are probably going to dinner dressed so we can go straight to the pirate: party afterwards.

Anyone doing a door sign(s)? I was looking on the thread on them and some are really nice. I wish I had the knowledge to make one.
I did, and it was easy. I used a product similar to this:
http://www.staples.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/StaplesProductDisplay?storeId=10001&catalogId=10051&langId=-1&productId=85927&cmArea=SEARCH
I have an old Disney program that lets you create all kinds of custom Disney things, and I used that to create a sign with Mickey and Minnie on it that says "Happy 12th Anniversary" as a surprise to my DH. Or as a cheaper alternative, you can get magentic clear acrylic frames and put pictures, etc. in those.

You will all be meeting in the Promenade Lounge at 3:00 on Sunday. This is the Promenade Lounge, not deck. It is located on deck 3. It is a nice quiet place to talk and easy to find people. Hope you all have a great cruise!

I know we will have a great time, I'm getting really anxious.
:)
As far as Palo's...I can't get a reservation online for brunch or dinner. But, from what I have heard on the boards is that Disney holds some of the reservations for passengers once they have boarded. Guess maybe it's to be fair to those passengers who aren't so computer savvy to have a chance. I'll keep my fingers crossed, but if we don't get in I won't be too upset. This is our first family vacation, if you don't count all the trips to Grandma's house. So we want to have tons of fun with the kids, but 8 days of vacation with the kids...it would be nice to have one romantic dinner with my DH. If we still can't get in...we'll just have to have a romantic stroll around the ship while the kids are in the clubs. Sounds nice.

Needless to say he's not too happy about that and proclaims that if the lines tooo long he's leaving (of course he's not, we leave on wed., so basically he'll just stand in line crying in agony :rotfl2: ) As I type he's still holding out hope that he'll find it and is still looking, claiming he's got 5 good hours of search left in him :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
I know it's wrong but DH is the calmest person I know so to see him for the first time freaking out has me :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I am glad to heard that you were able to find yours and your dh is able to go to your state capital. That will teach him to be so organized. :rotfl2: Dh lost all of our birth certificates. Good thing for him we have passports. ;)
