I can't remember the last time I rented a car in Florida! We usually use Tiffany Towncar to get from the airport to our resort. There's so much good information here that I'm finding it difficult to absorb everything! Can somebody please tell me if this is a good rate:

We're leaving in less than 2 weeks. After visiting my dad in Ft. Lauderdale, we'll be driving up to Orlando. I rented a car through National to be picked up on Thursday in Ft. Lauderdale and returned the following Wednesday in Orlando. Using a coupon I think came with a Disney Club mailing, my rate is 131.19 before taxes for an intermediate size car. It sounded good to me ... could I do better?

Thanks!

That sounds like a good deal to me since you are dropping off at a different location than you are picking up, but you may want to check these deals that are posted to the board I host to discuss Priceline bidding. They are through Budget and Hertz.

I do not know if they allow a dropoff different from the pickup location, but it's worth a shot at checking them out.

Most of the major car companies in Florida allow an 'open jaw' rental as long as pick up and drop off is in Florida. I've done it many times myself while flying on free companion tickets standby on United. Of course, it's always a good thing to verify it with the specific company and location.

Thanks for the information! TravelSheryl, I'll take a look at the Priceline board. The thing I don't understand is why it would have been more expensive to pick up the car a couple of days later, which is what we were hoping to do since we don't really need a car while we're visiting my dad. And of course, once you add the taxes and miscellaneous charges, it really starts to add up. Well, I still have 2 weeks to go before I finalize everything ... I guess it's not last minute yet! :D
