I was just wondering, what was the price per point when the vacation club was started.

When sales began in the latter part of 1991, there was I believe an introductory price of $49 a point but it went quickly to $51.

A few months ago I asked people to help piece together a cost history. It seems that pre-opening of OKW (called Disney Vacation Club) price was $48. When it opened in October 1991 the price was $51. When HHI, Vero and BWV opened in 1995/96 the price was $62.75. Opening price for WLV was $72.

AAARRRGGGHHH! I remember hearing a CM offer us a chance to buy a "piece of the magic" (aka Disney Vacation Club--OKW) when we were there in 1991, but we were in too much of a hurry to listen then. At least this time when we went in March, DH saw one of the kiosks while we were waiting to eat at Artist Point and said "Let's check this out." We were able to buy in at VWL before the price went up! :smooth:

This last trip made me realize how much I've missed our Disney Vacations!

We bought in February of '92 and paid $51/pt. We like to think of it as $1.02/point for each use year plus maintenance fees....not a bad investment,eh?

The price per point may have been significantly lower but wasn't the minimum point purchase also significantly higher than the current 150 points?

The original minimum was 230 points. It dropped to 210 by 1993 and has been at 150 for a few years now.

I can remember flying down to WDW in 1992 and browsing through the airline's magazine. There wa an ad in it for the vacation club and my mom asked if I was going to consider buying. Absolutely not!!!! We had stayed at the Yacht Club that trip and one day I had one of those programmed messages on the phone. Ok, for a free meal or whatever, I could listen to the pitch. I signed the papers before we left and added on at least twice since then. It's been a wonderful (certainly one of my better) decision.
