Hi there. I;ve posted a few times on the WISH boards and have just recently started having luck with my weight loss endeavors. I'm looking to lose a total of 63 pounds and I've lost 12.5 so far! But, I need someone on here to chat with to keep motivated. It's hard for me to find people at work or outside of work that I can chat with and get motivated with because everyone is so busy. I do fine working out by myself and my sister in law is trying to lose weight too so I have her to talk to but with her busy work schedule and 3 kids, I can't always bug her to talk about diet and exercise. I know that most of us are on these boards DAILY so it would be nice to have someone to check in with to track progress, diet, exercise, etc.

If anyone has the time to pickup a WISH buddy...PM me ! Thanks in advance!

Hi Sunkissed - You'll find plenty of people here to help support you in your weight loss. What kind of diet program are you following? Any particular exercise your doing? You might want to start a journal as I find it helpful to write about my program, how I'm doing, my ups and downs and people are great about posting support, ideas and the occasional hug :D

trying to use these boards to stay motivated too.

I can't always get on the boards everyday, but would be happy to check in with you and see how you're doing.

So, what is your program? What works for you and what doesn't?

It seems like alot of WISH folks are on WW, SB, or training for the marathon. Not me, I'm just doing what I think is right for me... I've only been at it for 2 weeks now so this is all new to me... I kinda feel like I'm jumping into something that is soooo underway and everyone already knows everyone else...

When were you at POR in Sept, did you hit any of the hurricanes? We were at POFQ during Jeanne...

Hi Jen and Welcome! Like I suggested to Sunkissed, you might want to start a journal here. It's a great way to track your progress and have people pop in with encourgement and support.

Good Luck :flower:

Hey everyone! Thanks for stopping by! I think that a journal is a great idea...hopefully when I start mine, some of you can visit every once in a while! I think that will definitly help me keep on track.

I'm not following a diet plan "specifically". I always carry around my WW123 book and slide rule to calculate points and generally stay within my range but I haven't officially joined WW (money issues) so I guess you could say I'm on the WW123 plan but not "officially". As for exercise, currently I'm power walking every night. I live in a condo complex and my interior block is exactly 1/2 mile around so I do that 6 times a night for a total of 3 miles a day-Rain or shine!!! I also just registered for the next semester of exercise classes at my local recreation center. Step aerobics on Mondays, kickboxing on Wednesdays and Pilates on Thursdays so I'm excited for those to start up again! I also try and get 100-200 crunches in each night while I'm watching TV.

Last year I lost 35 pounds when I split with my ex fiance...partly due to depression and lack of appetite but I picked up exercising to keep me busy and that helped tremendously and this year (after meeting my new boyfriend) I gained about 25 of that back (he loves to eat!!) so I'm really upset with myself and am determined to be back in my bikini by my next trip to WDW in September!!

jay-nee my boyfriend and I were on the Gulf side (hernando) during Frances...man o man...what a mess! And then we drove over to WDW on the 10th and stayed until the 14th...got out just in time for Ivan! We got so lucky because we were there right in between the weather was beatiful! Hot and humid but beautiful! It rained every day at about 4 for about 15 minutes and then the sun came back out.

Sounds like you are doing the right things to get back on track. Also, sounds like you had good luck missing the hurricanes too!

We were at POFQ until 10/09, other than Jeanne (and crowds after), it was great!

My plan is to just reduce my portion size and exercise each day. Seems to be working, I've lost another 1 1/2 lbs this week for a total of 3 lbs in 2 weeks, so I have 34 to go.

Well, keep checking in to let us know how you are doing. That rec program sounds great! I'd love to do kickboxing again, but it messes with my knee. I do hope to snowboard this year though, if my knee feels stable enough by then.

Well, I'm kind of bummed today because I didn't walk like normal. But, I do have a good excuse...

...I wore new boots to work today and now I have blisters. I put bandaids on and was all ready to walk but my feet just hurt too much to even go. I walked to the mailbox (4 units down) and I was in major pain...so I just came home. I figured it's better to miss one day than walk today and make them worse and miss more!

I didn't get on the scale today because I was running late and the scale is in my other bathroom. And, I'm not getting on it this late in the evening so I'll find out tomorrow if I lost any more weight since Saturday...I sure hope so.

Even though I didn't walk, I did about 150 crunches.

So, how about everyone else?

Time to change my siggy....3 more pounds gone!! Woohoo!! I'm so excited. I know I still have a long way to go but each pound that I lose feels like a hugh accomplishment! It is so hard during the holidays and so losing even just a few pounds during the holidays is great!

I got to walk tonight which is good because I haven't in 2 days. Tuesday my feet were killing me from the boots I wore to work. Yesterday, I worked 13 hours and had a faculty meeting and by the time I got home I could barely keep my eyes open. I did walk tonight and then did a bunch of floor exercises while watching the Apprentice. I had to make some ham rolls for a family xmas party on Saturday morning too. Lucky for me, I don't like them so there was no temptation of eating them!!

Well, off to finish the apprentice. Stop in and say hi!

Thanks Tera!

Wow, today was a mess at work. It was "secret Santa" reveal day so everyone was in a party kind of mood. Our chef made us a breakfast AND lunch spread! I didn't eat any of the breakfast food but unfortunately...my management team and I ended up having McDonalds for lunch...I know....bad! I had a filet of fish w/o tartar sauce and about 1/2 of my fries. I have to admit it was really good considering it;s been a while since I had any fast food.

Tomorrow I have a family Christmas party...something I'm not looking so forward to but I'm sure it'll be fun nonetheless. Well, off to do the nightly walk around the complex and clean up this mess of a house! Talk to you all later!

Tera

Hi Sunkissed - Don't worry about McDonalds. You made better choices, which is just the beginning. Try and drink LOTS of water after you've eaten badly and that sometimes helps. Have fun at your Christmas party!!

I've been offline for a few days (had my surgery yesterday). Sounds like you are doing okay! Good for you... Sorry to hear about your blisters, I hate when things slow me down (like now!)...

Well, at least you didn't eat your whole fries! :-) I hate fast food so it's not a problem for me! For me, it's sweets... And, guess what my Mom brought down while she helped me yesterday and today...sweets! The kids are having fun with the sweets so I'm thankfully, mostly, controlling myself!

Keep up the good work. I'll check in again soon! BTW, 3 pounds is awesome!

WOW! it's been such a busy week! Finally a chance to post and fill everyone in on what's been going on this week.

GOOD NEWS THOUGH...as you can see by my ticker...I've lost 3 more pounds in the last week or so...it's coming off, slowly but surely!

Work has been crazy. You would think that the week before Christmas would be nice and quiet but not for me. I had to submit payroll and do month end and year end reports all yesterday! CRAZY!

It has been so hard this week with all the goodies that people have been bringing in to work to be good and not snack on them. I've been pretty good. I admit, I indulged in the chocolate covered almonds that our medical center delivered on Wednesday but I made sure that I walked when I got home from work that night to work it off.

And, what is the deal with filet of fish lately? That's all I want to eat! I guess it's better than cheeseburgers though huh? I know I have to stop! The next week and a half is going to be difficult because I'm off work. It's so much easier to discipline myself while I'm at work because I keep busy. With a week off of work, Iwill have a lot of down time that I will spend relaxing which is nice but it's also that much harder to keep focused on eating the good things and not the bad things.

Tonight my boyfriend and I are going to his brothers house for dinner. They are getting a "bosten market feast" and making christmas cookies! As longa s I can keep away from raw cookie dough tonight, I think I'll be okay. Then we go out to my brother and sister in laws house tonight for drinks and gift exchange.

Wish me luck and happy holidays everyone!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

I thought that I was going to have a yucky Christmas (see the "he want's "space" thread on the community board for more info) but it has turned out to be very good so far!

LAst night my boyfriend and I went out to his brother's house for dinner with his brother, SIL and 3 nephews. When he came over to my place he was in a great mood and was very happy to see me. He brought over my gifts so that we could open them first thing Christmas morning. We've been having some issues lately with alone time and personal space and this week, I saw him on Sunday and then not again until when he got here yesterday. He gave me a huge hug and kiss, and said he missed me this week and wanted to hear all about what I had been doing all week. It was a really good feeling.

Anyway, he showed me the Dell GPS Navigation system he had bought himself for xmas and we hooked it up in his truck on the way to his brothers house which is about 45 minutes away. It is soo cool! It tracks your position right on your PDA and tells you exactly when to turn etc. It really is neat!

So, we get to his brothers house and hang out for a while. His SIL brings out some snacks (cheese, sausage, crackers, deviled eggs, peanuts, etc) and bf starts scarfing down on everything in sight. I was able to control myself and have a few slices of cheese and a few deviled eggs! They were very tasty.

Then we got dinner. SIL went to Boston Market and picked up a bunch of things to eat. It was all very good. I didn't over indulge since I knew we were going to my brother and SIL's house afterwards and I knew there'd be tons of food there too. So, I took a little of everything and it was good.

Then we headed over to my brother's house. They had more food there than I think I'd ever seen in my life! I ended up snacking on some veggies and dip and a few meatballs and that was it...well except for the beer! That was really good too. I controlled myself though.

So, we headed back to my place at about 1:30am and went to bed when we got here. I was so glad to be able to wake up next to my sweetie on xmas morning! Last year, I had just broken up with my exfiance so I spent xmas ALL ALONE! So, this year is much much better!

Today, we are going out for Chinese food for dinner and then going to see Meet the Fockers with my brother and SIL. Then it's back to their house for a poker tournament! Wish me luck!

I hope everyone else is having a great Christmas!

Holy cow! I didn't realize it had been 3 weeks since I'd posted in my own journal. How sad! Actually, I've been really busy at work and working some really crazy hours since the holidays so I haven't had too much time to sit down and post anything lengthy.

Well, as of yesterday, I'm down 23 pounds. Havent lost much in the last week or so but with my crazy schedule, there's been a lot of not so great eating going on so I'm grateful to have not gained anything. All I seem to want to eat lately though (from the fast food places we seem to get at work all the time) is Wendy's Spicy Chicken Sandwich or a Filet of Fish from McDonalds. I don't want any fries, salads, etc. just sandwiches. I guess that those are better than the greasy burgers I usually want though, right? I know it's not great but I'm working on it.

I started my exercise classes last week too with my sister in law. We are taking a step aerobics class on Monday, kickboxing on Wednesdays and pilates on thursdays. I love these classes. The step class is great! The teacher is awesome. She loves to sweat so needless to say she works our booties off and it feels so good. Acutally, last week, my calves hurt so bad by wednesday I could barely walk. But, I loved the feeling. That's how I know things are working. And, even better...I have this pair of knee high black leather boots that I actually bought for my BF's bday gift (use your imagination!) last March and as the weight packed on last year, I couldn't zip them up all the way. well, guess what? Now I can!! Talk about a good feeling. Usually people get excited when they can zip up a tighter pair of jeans, I'm all excited about a pair of boots! But, that was an accomplishment for me. I've been able to fit in some of my smaller size clothes too. For my birthday in september, my BF bought me a "baby-T' style shirt that I really wanted (it says "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy") and it was too tight...and it was the biggest size he could order. Now, I know I'm a little top heavy but that wasn't the problem...it was just too tight! Well, it fits now...in fact I wore it to bowling 2 weeks ago and felt great!

Well, I guess that's the update for now. I'm going to try to get back on track this week with eating healthier. I am off work tomorrow for MLKJR day so I'm going to hit the grocery store and get some lunch items that I need so that I'm not ordering fast food every day at work.

I also have started thinking about training for the 2006 1/2 marathon so that's sitting in the back of my mind too. I'd really love to do it...I just have to make the committment to train like I should a little farther into the year, hopefully once I lose some more weight. I think it would be a great accomplishment for me. and for those of you who may have read my other threads about the personal "issues" i'm having lately and the therapy that I've started, you'd understand that an accomplishment like doing the 1/2 marathon would do miracles for my self esteem.

Well, time to get ready for bowling -- thanks everyone as usual for checking in...I'll update more often, I promise!

Hi Jen! Thanks for stopping by!

The classes are awesome. They're offered through our local recreation department. They offer other ones too like body ball which I took last semester and that was pretty fun too. I really like the step class because it's pretty intense. I was sweating like crazy last week afterwards and I love that feeling...makes me feel like I really did something! The kickboxing is fun too because it's really upbeat. It's actually like cardiokickboxing because it's not just kickboxing but has aerobics moves integrated too. And the pilates is great for core strengthening and toning...my bum still hurts a bit from Thursday's class. It keeps me motivated and busy during the week. I'm a boredom eater so keeping busy is essential to my dieting too.

I'm excited for my step class tonight!

I just got home from the store. I went to the sporting goods store and bought a pedometer. Does anyone know if it will count my steps in step class? I set it up for walking with a 30" stride and all that jazz but I was thinking about wearing it to class tonight and seeing if it will work during class too.

Has anyone tried this before?

Way to go on the 23lb. loss and getting those boots zipped up! I will rejoice with you big time on that one because I have 4 beautiful pair in my closet right now that I can't zip because of my fat calves. Soon though, soon! Knowing that you got back into yours gives me hope! Congrats on the shirt fitting too! I love that song btw. LOL

I hope you had fun at your class tonight! :flower1:

Class was great! This class is the most fun of all the aerobics classes I've ever taken and I feel it every time! She's really a great trainer and I love it.

Today I feel it in my quads which is good because I need it there( everywhere actually).

I don't have any classes tonight-Tuesday's and Fridays are my days off. So, tonight, I'm getting together for dinner with my 3 really good girlfriends that I used to work with. We all live kind of far apart but we make sure to get together at least once a month to hang out. Tonight we're going to Applebees! I watched what I ate all day today so I can get my favorite for dinner...chicken broccoli alfredo. I know, it is HORRIBLE but I have to indulge every once in a while or I'll lose my mind. I'll be good for the rest of the week, I promise! (I have to weigh in for my "5 for January" weigh in on Sunday so I gotta be good!)

Well, time to get ready to meet the girls. Thanks for checking in!

MmmMmmm dinner was so good. And it was so much fun. These girls are the best. I always complain that I don't have a lot of friends but these three make up for it. It's definitly quality and not quantity! They're the best!! We are planning our next "girls night out" for 2/12. I can't wait. They are so much fun!! The only thing is...we haven't had a real "girls night out" since my friend Michelle had her baby and my other friend Paula got married so I think things will be a little different now...maybe not so crazy! That's okay though, I'm getting older now and I don't need to party all night long to have a good time. I'll be at home in my bed by like 2am! haha...

I brought home about 1/2 of my broccoli alfredo for lunch tomorrow! Now I'm actually looking forward to going to work....NOT looking forward to gettting on the scale though...thank goodness I have cardiokickboxing class tomorrow to make up for all of this!

thanks plutosmyfav! and thanks for stopping by!

So, a bit more about my interview. Actually, I don't really know anything except for what's in the posting on monster.com. Its for a Payroll Analyst which is exactly what I'm looking for right now.

I've been having some serious issues with some changes at work and I've come to the realization that I can't really go anywhere else at my current job because I'm in the business field (I work in child care though) and in order for me to get a "corporate" type job with this company, I'd have to move to Watertown Massachusetts. And, while that sounds like a great place...I'm not interested in moving so basically...I'm at a dead end. I talked to my boss about everything today and told her about the interview and that I was actively searching for a new job and she said taht she would back me in whatever I wanted to do and that she would be pleased to let me use her as a reference as well. How nice is that? I think she understands my situation so it made it a lot easier to talk to her about it.

So...Friday at 12:30 I have a phone interview...we'll see how it goes. Realistically, right now though if the job doesn't pay more than what I make now, I won't be able to take it. I just can't afford a pay cut right now.

Next....I had a blast at kickboxing class tonight. We have one guy in the class and he is hilarious he makes us all laugh the whole time and the time just flies by! I can really feel it in my muscles already from the step class on monday and kickboxing today. Tomorrow is pilates. and I'm really looking forward to that too!!

Goodnight every1 I gotta go finish watching people embarass themselves on American Idol!

Wow...does my bum hurt today!! I just got home from pilates class and man o man am I sore!!! It feels so good though!

Now, I have to figure out what to eat for dinner. I have some frozed tilapia in the freezer. I think I might toss a few of those in the oven with some Mrs.Dash and maybe have some chicken noodle soup along with it. It's freezing outside! I'm so tired I don't feel like cooking much but I gotta eat soon or its' gonna get too late!

TGIF Everyone!

Oh it's a good sore. Its funny because I love it. It makes me feel like the workouts are really working. I am even more sore today than yesterday. But, I feel a difference and I definitly like that.

My phone interview went great! The HR rep was very nice and told me all kinds of neat things. She scheduled me for a face to face interview on Tuesday morning at 8:00am. It's gonna be a busy day with that at 8, then I work at 10 and have therapy at 2 and then go back to work until 7!! But, the job sounds really cool. They have flexible hours, great benefits and I'll be getting more money. She didn't give me an exact range but I padded the amount I told her that I currently make and she said that it was definitly in their range for that position so I'm really excited!!

This morning I got onto ticketmaster website because Brad Paisley and Sarah Evans are coming to my town (well, kindof) next month! I am so excited because I got MAIN FLOOR ROW 6 Tickets!!!! Tomorrow, I'm going to stand outside ticketmaster to get George Strait tickets for the end of February....wish me luck on good seats for that one too!!

sunkissed212
01-22-2005, 03:42 PM
Okay, so....I told everyone that I was going out today to get George Strait tickets first thing this morning...well, the snow came even earlier than they expected but I wasn't going to chance not getting good tickets to this concert so this is what I ventured out in ...

http://www.wdwinfo.com/photopost/data/500/68990IMGP1023-med.JPG

I got to Marshall Fields at 8:50am and they were plowing the parking lot at the mall. As soon as the guy unlocked the doors I went into the store and stood outside the ticketmaster outlet. Well, at 10 I was still the only one there which totally surprises me but it paid off we're in Section FLOOR 2 ROW C (that's row 3 from the stage) I'm so geeked!!!!

So, that's floor seats row 3 for George on Thursday, 2/24 and floor seats row 6 for Brad on Friday!!! Now, if I can just convince my boyfriend to drive 50 miles from the arena on Friday night to the Casino resort, we can stay there 2 nights and make a nice weekend out of the whole thing! I can't wait!!!

sarahsmom73

Congratulations on the great seats! How much snow did you end up getting? They are saying we are about 13" right now here close to the lake with more possibly coming. ::yes:: I totally agree with you on the soreness - I feel sometimes like if I'm not sore I didn't work hard enough. It's nice to be conscious of muscles you hardly knew you had. :teeth: Keep up the great work! :cool1:

Time for a weigh in...I got on my BF's scale last night, which seems to be more accurate than mine and I'm down 2 more lbs!! WooHoo!!! I got to change my clippie to 25lbs! I"m really excited!

BF and I went out for Mexican food last night and the roads were really bad. We were supposed to go out with some friends after that but it was just so yucky out that we didn't want to go out and have to worry about driving back late and stuff. So, we stayed in and watched a Richard Jeni comedy special and then watched 50 First Dates which was so cute! I loved it! Then we started watching The Rock and both fell asleep on the couch!

We got up around 11 and BF made us pancakes and sausage (he's an excellent cook!) and then we watched Grease! Then ran around looking for a new pair of cowboy boots for him to wear to the George Strait and Brad Paisley concerts next month, went to dinner and now I'm home!

Busy day....so, now I'm going to hang out and relax...Carnivale comes on at 9 and then it's time for bed. I've got to be at work at 5am tomorrow so that means up at 3:45 and out the door by 4:30! Man o man

But, did I say this in an earlier post? I have a "real" interview with the company I had my phone interview with on Friday...the interview is Tuesday and I can't wait. I really hope it works out. I could so use more money right about now!! and a new "start" if you will!

Great job on the loss!!!!!!!! Your new clippie looks lovely on you :flower1:

Have a great time at your concerts. I'm not a country fan, but I'm sure you'll have a blast. Could you not order those online?? DH got tickets for us to see Sting in April which I'm very excited about.

Keep up the great work and you'll be claiming that 30 pound clippie soon enough.

Tera-I could have gone online for the tickets but I've found that I seem to get better seats by going directly to ticketmaster. That way I don't have to worry about internet/server traffic or tied up phone lines. The ticketmaster overpowers the internet server that they have so it's the best way to get the best tickets. When I got home, I checked online and there were no floor seats available at all...and that was about 15 minutes after I got my own tickets!

I did get the Brad Paisley tickets online but they are for a very small venue so that's probably why I was able to get such good ones online...not too much traffic!

Thanks everyone for the congrats on the loss...still a ways to go but every pound is a step closer! My sister in law and I are actually looking forward to "boating season" this year...I WILL WEAR MY SWIMSUIT IN PUBLIC!!

Well the interview on Tuesday went really well...at least I think it did! Apparently, today, they called all 3 of the references I listed on my resume/application so I'm taking that as a good sign but I don't want to get my hopes up too much just in case it doesn't come through...but man, would it be nice to make some more money !

exercise classes are done for this week i had pilates tonight. man am I sore! But, it feels so good! I can feel a difference..and I'm thinking of making a solo trip up to the outlet mall this weekend to do some shopping! ALONE! I don't usually do things alone but I'm thinking it might be fun to go up there, shop for the day, and then maybe stay the night at the hotel that they have up there. I was thinking of getting myself a bottle of wine and getting a jacuzzi room just for myself to relax and watch tv after shopping...we'll see...I don't know if I wanna do that yet.

Ugh! So, as you may or may not have noticed...my scale hasn't moved in about a week!!! What is the deal?

I've been working out like normal but it just isn't going anywhere this week. Maybe it's water weight gain? I don't know. I'm feeling a little depressed this week so I've been eating a little more than usual but I really thought I had lost at least a few pounds this week.

Well...I guess I'll stay off for a few more days and see if that helps any. I'm trying to decide what kind of work out I want to do tonight. I can either walk around my condo complex or go to the gym. I haven't gone to the gym in a long time because it's always so crowded when I get there that I have to stand in line and wait for everything and that just makes me angry and then I end up leaving and not working out at all...so, maybe walking is a better idea. Oh, I don't know...I'm all messed up this week.

Mine hasn't moved either... I think maybe I have added carbs back to soon. At least you haven't gained! That's a great thing. Don't worry, it will move!

Well, I ended up not working out at all last night! After I came home from work and did a few things. I ended up going shopping at Target and I bought a new foot spa. So, I came home and soaked my feet, and gave myself a pedicure. Then I watched some TV and a few episodes of SITC and then went to bed. How depressing. All this 'alone time' that my BF and I are taking is depressing me. I'm the kind of person that likes to be around people a lot and he's been hanging out with a few of his buddies a lot more lately, which is fine with me, I know he's having fun...but all my friends are moved away now and I'm having trouble making new ones so I'm feeling a little sorry for myself. oh well...enough of that.

So, now I'm sitting here waiting for the cable company to come and exchange my cable box. I ordered a new DVR box with HD service for my new TV I bought the other night. I love my new TV! I think I'm hitting a Vegas Night at the local high school tonight so we'll see if I come home with any of their money!

Thanks! I'm feeling a bit under the weather today. I feel like I have a tennis ball in my throat...so I'm sitting on the sofa under a blanket feeling like...well...you know!!

I'm hungry but don't feel like getting up to do anything so I guess I won't be eating anything until I get some energy to make some soup or something...

I hope everyone is having a good day!!

Well, I'm now on my 2nd day off of work...I'm still sick. Apparently it is a upper respiratory infection AND a sinus infection...wonderful! Although, I'm on meds now and plan on going back to work tomorrow. I went to my step class on Monday night and it killed me. I was already feeling a little yucky at that point and it took everything I had to get through it. I don't know if I'm going to make it to my kickboxing class tonight. I do feel better and have more energy today so I might go and just do low impact everything. I do'nt want to slack off!

But...good news! I got an offer for that job I interviewed for a few weeks ago. The woman called me a little while ago and made the offer. I am waiting for her to email me more of the details but I'm 99.9% sure I'm going to accept it. I am so excited!

Sorry you've been feeling so crappy lately. You need to take care of yourself and get better before getting back into exercising.

Great news on the job offer. I hope it works out for you.
