Just curious if any of you ladies have seen or purchased any knockoff's in Nassau?

this is a touchy subj with me as i read that knockoffs were made by children in poor countries who get paid 50 cents a day for 10 hours of work. sorry, just had to mention this!

Did some checking on the shopping-didn't find anything about imitations but did find Fendi, Gucci and Ferragamo stores on Bay St.

They do have "knockoff" bags at the strawmarket booths.

I couldn't tell you who they are though... (brands aren't that important to me so I've never really paid attention.)

I could ask how much they want for them and report back though....

We were recently in Nassau and saw many "knockoff's" at the straw market. Depending on the size and the brand, and who you bartered with they run from 20.00 and up. They had LV, Kate Spade, and Prada that I saw.
I didn't purchase any, but my college daughter did.

As far as children in sweatshops making them, I can't say.

Note that there are two types of knockoffs. One looks exactly like the original with the same characters, embroidery etc. The other kind looks almost like the original. For example, if the original has the letters LV on it, this kind might have TV or something that looks very similar to LV at first glance. You really have to know what the original looks like if you want to buy a perfect knockoff. The "perfect" knockoffs generally run more $$$. The almost the same knockoffs are less and I think they might even be legal since the copyright isn't the same.

On a personal note I'd like to say that I don't think it is fair to the original manufacturer to purchase the exact knockoff and it is illegal to sell these bags.

Hi There,

When we went this past March....I saw Burberry, Fendi, Louis Vitton, Prada..almost anything you can think of..there were two stores specifically that had the merchandise..very hard to distinguish from the authentic bags. I did not purchase anything..but the store was swamoed and they were selling like crazy!

Here is a link just before we had left for our cruise.

I've been dying to see a thread on this, but I was too afraid to start it! Thank you so much! My husband is wondering about the knock-off watches. Any knock-off Rolex's? How about sunglasses?

If you go through the buildings to the main street, turn right, go 3 or 4 blocks - there is a store there that sells bags. I don't know if they are the real things or not. They were expensive. My daughter wanted a LV bag and I thought I could buy her one at home from the department store and could take it back if there was something wrong with it. There, you buy it and if something is wrong two months later, you have nowhere to go.
