New Years Eve favorite spots

I will be going to Disneyland for New Year's Eve even though it will be crowded. :eek: I am trying to find out what are some of your favorite spots to celebrate the New Years Eve celebrations and to watch the fireworks. How early does one have to claim a spot? Thanks for any suggestions.

We were in front of Small World last year. The kids rode it over and over while we my husband and I held a spot to stand. It sure was crowded! Shoulder to shoulder! Is it any less crowded in another spot? We are going again this year too! :D

I'm guessing our spot from last year is not what you're looking for... We brought in the new year & had a great view of the fireworks from our upper park view room at the DL hotel. We had little ones with us and it just was not worth it to be in those crowds!
My in-laws had a great spot as well. They had dinner at club 33 and had hopped on the train to try and get back to the front gate while avoiding as much of the crowd as possible. I guess they stopped the train for the fireworks display and they said they had an incredible view. I'm guessing you'd have to be pretty lucky to get on at just the right time and place for that to happen though.
Others in our group had seen the late fantasmic show and ended up staying there - don't know if it was so much by choice, or just beacause it was too difficult to try and move anywhere else.
